[A reader alerted me to another gem of the FUE's logic. He takes to task those who criticize the People's Republic of Kalifornia, and still (gasp!) take their leisure at the state's awesomely scenic locales. The man's brain cannot separate terribly gone wrong social policies from the state's natural beauty, as if eschewing one requires rejecting everything that is still good about the state, and that mainly because the progressives have yet to eliminate the last vestiges of such enjoyments (e.g. denying/limiting public access to TBD 'wildlands'). This thinking by local lefties is replicated in Sacramento, because those are the idiots that the gimmes all over the state have now voted into power. And that California now has achieved the nation's highest poverty rate gives additional depth to the ignorance of these leftwing loonies. gjr]

Paul didn’t study his faith too well.
“The deists were what nowadays would be called freethinkers, a name, indeed, by which they were not infrequently known; and they can only be classed together wholly in the main attitude that they adopted, viz. in agreeing to cast off the trammels of authoritative religious teaching in favour of a free and purely rationalistic speculation. Many of them were frankly materialistic in their doctrines;
That pretty much describes a LIB.

Paul at 7:06 – “…the acceptance of a certain body of religious knowledge that is inborn in every person or that can be acquired…”
You realize that statement is total BS.
First of all – where is this ‘body of knowledge’?
Secondly – ‘is inborn in every person or can be acquired’?
Trying to understand why it needs to be acquired when it’s already there.
I’m wondering what kind of human claims to have a ‘body of knowledge’ they can’t write down or point to. If it’s a ‘body’ of knowledge, then it must exist somewhere in some sort of permanent, accessible form.
Oh yeah, I know – we’re making it up right now as fast as we can.
This isn’t religion – it’s a disease of the mind.

George Rebane wrote: “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone …”
[1] Jesus went unto the mount of Olives.
[2] And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them.
[3] And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,
[4] They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.
[5] Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou?
[6] This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not.
[7] So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.
[8] And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground.
[9] And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last: and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.
[10] When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?
[11] She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

The Bible is filled with lovely poetry Jill. Why is it so few Christians follow the lessons of the Bible? Here in this blog there are those that consider Trump a Stud and justify everything he does even if it includes forcing himself on women. Show me the humility.

That would be a doctrine of protecting the children, Paul.
They don’t show up at the border with photo ID cards with fingerprints.
No one at the border has any factual knowledge of exactly who is related to who and what their previous history is.
These are people who are untrustworthy to start with as they are intending to break the law and deceive the authorities.
One guy showed up with a ‘daughter’ he had been sexually molesting.
But Paul thinks we should just let the guy keep up his perv business.
Is that in the ‘body’ of knowledge in the religion you belong to, Paul?

If you cared at all about the factually of what you just said you would find that the vast majority of the children were separated from their parents and family. Hundreds are still waiting to be united with their ones. .
“On the morning of September 7, the national news announced that with Trumpβs new plans for detention, families could be held in custody for months, even years awaiting the resolution of their asylum claims. It was also disclosed that as of that date, there were still 497 children waiting to be reunited with their families. Of this number, 14 were below the age of 5.”

From the Conservative Wall Street Journal poll
Congressional Republicans are facing a mid-term election wipeout fueled by voter resistance to President Donald Trump, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.
The survey, six weeks before Americans head to the polls, shows Democrats leading Republicans by 52 percent to 40 percent for control of Congress. If it holds, that 12 percentage point margin would suggest a “blue wave” large enough to switch control of not just the House but also the Senate.
“The results could not be clearer about making a change in direction from Trump’s policies,” explained Bill McInturff, the Republican pollster who helps conduct the NBC/WSJ survey. “Once again, Americans are hitting the brakes in a mid-term.”

The vast majority?
That is an after-the-fact finding.
It doesn’t alter the fact that when they are apprehended they have no proof of who is related to who.
The police and CPS separate children from their law-breaking parents every day, Paul. Been doing it for a long time.
If illegals don’t like getting separated from their children, then don’t try to cross illegally.
If you want to blame some one for crying children, it’s the parents who are at fault.
It’s all of bunch of left wing BS anyway.
You (and all lefties) won’t provide any sort of answer to what is happening at the border. We have border security or we don’t.
I have to show up at checkpoints when crossing in and out of the US.
Otherwise, I’m subject to arrest and you better believe any child in my custody would be taken from me. We have this strange little deal here about equal application of law in this country, Paul.
Either we follow that or we have anarchy.
Provide an answer, Paul – otherwise, you’re just throwing rocks.

Civility is shrinking and civil peace may be in jeopardy. Masked anarchists use force to block conservatives from speaking in public forums. The free speech crisis on and off campus will not be solved until the premises of victimology are challenged directly and exposed as fraudulent.
The academic obsession with identity is ironic, since its roots lie in a philosophy that denied the very existence of the self. In the 1970s, the literary theory of deconstruction took over humanities departments with a curious set of propositions about language.
Because linguistic signs were arbitrary, successful communication was said to be impossible. Most surprisingly, the human subject was declared to be a fiction, a mere play of rhetorical tropes.
In the 1980s, however, the self came roaring back with a vengeance as feminists and race theorists took the mannered jargon of deconstruction and turned it into a political weapon. The key deconstructive concept of linguistic βdiffΓ©ranceβ became identity difference between the oppressed and their oppressors; the prime object of study became oneβs own self and its victimization.
The most significant change concerned attitudes toward the Western intellectual tradition. Deconstructive theorists such as Paul de Man and Jacques Derrida performed their interpretive sleights of hand on Proust, Rousseau, Plato, Shelley, and Wordsworth, among other leading philosophers and writers. They did not disparage these complex texts as the contemptible products of dead, white males. Multiculturalism, which took over literary studies in the 1980s, destroyed that respect for the canon while continuing the deconstructive stance of exposing alleged subtexts and suppressed meanings.
What had been an epistemological project became a political one.

Joe Biden sez:
And the last thing I’ll point out: the next person that refers to an FBI report as being worth anything obviously doesn’t understand anything. FBI explicitly does not, in this or any other case, reach a conclusion. Period. Period. So Judge, there’s no reason why you should know this. The reason why we cannot rely on the FBI report β you wouldn’t like it if we did. Because it is inconclusive. They say he said, she said, and they said. Period. So when people are waving FBI report before you, understand they do not, they do not, they do not reach conclusions. They do not make, as my friend points out, more [inaudible], they do not make recommendations.”
