[No one, including Donald Trump, needs to attack Ms. Ford. She believes what she believes. This is not he said-she said. This is a case of an alleged teenage encounter, partially recalled 30 years later without corroboration, and brought forward to ruin Mr. Kavanaugh’s reputation for partisan purposes. … Letting an accusation that is this old, this unsubstantiated and this procedurally irregular defeat Mr. Kavanaugh would also mean weaponizing every sexual assault allegation no matter the evidence. It will tarnish the #MeToo cause with the smear of partisanship, and it will unleash even greater polarizing furies. 17sep18 WSJ]

So now you claim you never accused the Dems of influencing the Maria death count. What did you refer to
when you wrote:
“Paul, the large numbers are the product of statistical manipulations.”
then you say:
“Paul, where did I say the “casualty numbers were false and altered by Democrats”?
Posted by: Gregory | 15 September 2018 at 11:34 AM
Then who do you propose creatd the “statistical manipulations”
I assume you disagree with Trump when he wrote:
“…..This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico. If a person died for any reason, like old age, just add them onto the list. Bad politics. I love Puerto Rico!

Paul, I had posed a question to you:
“Looking at the document from gwu, can you tell me if there were ‘excess casualties’ from suicides in the time frame looked at, and are you comfortable with them being called being due to the hurricane?”
If you can keep your head from its rectally fitted resting place long enough to look up suicide in the GWU document you linked, and tell us how suicides should be counted in flood casualty statistics, you will be on your way towards understanding where the statistical manipulations come into play.
The “study” that M/Keachie linked is also of interest, although it isn’t a study, it’s just a website where people can memorialize their loved ones who died in the storm in PR. It’s interesting. A 92 year old grandmother with essential hypertension and hypertensive renal (that’s kidneys, Paul and M) failure… the grieving left behind say she’d have lived had there been a hospital operating nearby in the days after the storm… yes, she might have… but for how long? A day, a week? She wasn’t well.

I was surprised that NY elected Julia Salazar to office. She, it’s only to the NY state senate, but I thought she was sunk. No Republican challenger, but the Dems went with her over others anyway. Said she was born in Columbia and immigrated here. Yeah, immigrated from Miami. Said she graduated from Columbia in a decree in something cool, but only attended and dropped out. Said she was from po fo in a poor neighborhood, but was actually a little trust fund girl from an rather upscale area. Said she was a Jew, but……oh, my, the New Yorker Mag asked what will be the new conversion story this week….from 5 days ago.
I thought she was sunk, being a blonde hair white little Daddy’s Christian Conservative princess and all. But, noooooo. They wanted a liar. They wanted a phony. They wanted a socialist!! They wanted a socialist and are uncontrolbably angry at the Establishment Leftinista Democrats, they preferred anyone but a Democrat, even a privileged white girl.
At least the New York Times came out with one of their opinion pieces titled: Julia Salazar, the Left’s Post-Truth Politican. Zinger.

For those interested in knowing what we are talking about when Trump unclassifies some pages of Carter Page’s FISA warrant, Andrew McCarty has a long long detailed painstakingly boring link explaining it all. Short story: Only paragraph (a)(3) matters. The paragraph could be 18 pages long, but we care only about (a) (3), . They can keep the rest redacted. 🙂
“Well guess what? Of these nine statutory requirements, only one involves the all-important probable-cause showing: (a)(3). In it, Congress directs the FBI to provide the court with “a statement of the facts and circumstances relied upon” to justify the bureau’s beliefs that (a) the proposed target is an agent of a foreign power and (b) the facilities or places the bureau wants to monitor are being used for the target’s clandestine activities.

I’m not doubting there may be some variables that need to be evaluated. The study was commissioned and accepted by the Government of Puerto Rico. The main methodology, which I have a difficult time disputing’ was comparing the number of deaths in the year of Hurricane Maria with other years and they then looked at the causes of why it was around 4000 more in that year and assumed it was the result of the hurricane. Reasonable assumption in my opinion.
Trump got his big mouth in the middle when he assumed it was a Democratic plot to make him look bad which you seemed to tag along with.

“With that statement, Page acknowledged a momentous fact: After nine months of using some of the most awesome surveillance powers afforded to U.S. intelligence, the FBI still had not made a case connecting Trump or his campaign to Russia’s election meddling.
Page opined further, acknowledging “it still existed in the scope of possibility that there would be literally nothing” to connect Trump and Russia, no matter what Mueller or the FBI did.
“So, by the words of Comey, Strzok and Page, we now know that the Trump Justice Department — through Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein — unleashed the Mueller special counsel probe before the FBI could validate a connection between Trump and Russia.
Which raises the question: If there was no concrete evidence of collusion, why did we need a special counsel?”

Oh yeah. With all the screaming banshees carrying on and such, I plum forgot about this one. From Sept 1, 2018, lest we forget.
“It looks like Ms. Yates’ action may have substantially harmed the Justice Department’s initial ability to defend the executive order,” Grassley wrote.
It is hard to imagine a matter of more public importance than that. But the executive order question was not the only issue involving Yates that fell under Grassley’s oversight.
Also covered by the committee’s request was any documentation of Yates’ role in the Flynn case. A number of press accounts at the time the FBI interviewed Flynn cited an official “familiar with [Yates’] thinking” who said she was concerned that Flynn might have violated the Logan Act by talking to Russia’s then-ambassador Sergey Kislyak during the presidential transition. Of course, many scholars view the Logan Act as a dead letter, and it is a fact that no one has ever been successfully prosecuted under the Logan Act at any time in its 200-year history. For Yates to use that particular law as a pretense for the FBI to interview Flynn was certainly a questionable decision — and a decision that Congress might reasonably want to review.
But now, the Justice Department refuses to hand over any of Yates’ emails to the Senate committee with direct oversight authority. If the Department were serious about complying, it might ask for some limits on what has to be produced, and it’s likely the Senate would have gone along, or at least negotiated about what should be turned over. But the Department just gave a flat no.
