[On 11 September 2001 radical Islam carried out its most devastating attack on those they identify as infidels and kafirs, their name for the rest of us on this globe.  On this day of remembrance it is incumbent on us in the west to reflect on the state of Islam, and especially its quiet ongoing conquest of Europe, whose belated recognition of and opposition to what's happening is deemed racist by the Left.  Lest we forget, Europe is just the warm-up, with the battle cry 'Death to America!', an Islamic America is their main objective.  gjr]

How many died in PR as a direct result of Hurricane Maria? This reminds me of when Ms. Patricia Smith advanced her case for medical marijuana availibity in this county on this site. People asked her stupid questions such as “How manyare there patiences that need MMJ in our county of 100,000 residents? In a hard number (or estimate) cannot be given, what is the percentage of the terminally ill, disabled, or those who qualify for a recommendation?
It was quite frustrating for both Ms. Smith and the questioners when facts were asked to be presented. If the county was going to embark on regulations, rules, and restrictions at that time, one would need to know how many patients we are talking about and how great is the need to be filled. Kinda important.
3,000 deaths, or 20,000 or 700? The local mayors, local civil service employees, the local politicians hospitals, morgues, and government of PR provide such numbers, not FEMA, not HUD, not DC. The mayors and government officials in PR know what is going on far better than outsiders.
—Oct 3 2017. Puerto Rican officials tell Trump the death count is 16.
Flanked by Puerto Rican officials at a conference nearly two weeks after disaster struck the island, Donald Trump told locals to be “thankful” for Hurricane Maria’s death count.
“Every death is a horror, but if you look at a real catastrophe like Katrina and you look at the tremendous – hundreds and hundreds of people that died,” he said. “Sixteen versus literally thousands of people. You can be very proud. Everybody watching can really be very proud of what’s taken place in Puerto Rico.”
The US government has quietly walked back the president’s statements since then, adding onto an ever-increasing number of deaths related to the catastrophic hurricane.

—-Oct. 5, 2017. UTUADO, Puerto Rico—Seven of the 34 deaths caused by Hurricane Maria were preventable, according to the government’s official count released Wednesday.
A detailed list of the deaths reviewed by The Daily Beast shows seven deaths related to Maria were due to lack of oxygen and other medical-related care. The list also includes two deaths by suicides in the municipalities of Rincón and Vega Alta. Nineteen people were directly killed by the storm, according to Gov. Ricardo Rossello.
The death toll climbed from 16 on Tuesday, when President Donald Trump used it to downplay the severity of the damage in Puerto Rico during a visit to the island.
    https://www.thedailybeast.com/seven-deaths-in-puerto-rico-were-preventable-government-list-indicates
However, the actual number is far higher than the government’s official count of 64, according to a draft report the Puerto Rican government submitted to Congress this week, which puts the total amount of deaths over 1,400. (8/09/2018).
[August, 2018] The draft report is one of several studies and reviews currently underway to determine the most accurate number of deaths related to Hurricane Maria. A Harvard University study has put the death toll ANYWHERE BETWEEN 800 and 8,500.George Washington University school of public health study commissioned by Puerto Rican Governor Ricardo Rosselló is expected to be published later this month.
    https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/hurricane-maria-puerto-rico-death-count-us-government-rebuild-fundraising-trump-a8485096.html
A month ago GW Univeristy statisticians that never visited the island say its 2,975. Their best estimate. We are still talking probabilities, no hard count. And that’s where we are today: No official count as Florence is wrecking havoc. We can wait for PR to release the official count.

The lovely mayor of San Juan refused to meet with FEMA officials. Oct 1, 2017. Isn’t she the one with the “Nasty” Tee Shirt and said she would refuse to meet with Trump? Only thing missing is her pussy hat .
    ——-
“FEMA administrator Brock Long told CNN on Saturday that Cruz hasn’t connected with the FEMA command center established to coordinate relief efforts.
“The problem that we have with the mayor unfortunately is that unity of command is ultimately what’s needed to be successful in this response,” Long told CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield, The Hill reported.
The mayor of Guaynabo, Angel Perez, meanwhile, said in an interview with The Daily Caller “that his experience with the federal government has been different from Cruz’s, in part because — unlike Cruz — he has been participating in meetings with officials from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other federal agencies.”

Not everyone believes roadways are the problem. Roberto Ramirez Kurtz is the mayor of Cabo Rojo in southwestern Puerto Rico, which is about as far away from San Juan as you can get on the island — a 2 ½ to 3-hour drive.
He says more than 5,000 homes were completely destroyed in his town, and people are running out of water and insulin. But aid and resources, “they’re staying in San Juan,” he says.
Kurtz was in San Juan to ask for help, and having made the trip himself, he doesn’t believe that road conditions are an obstacle. “The roads are open,” he says. “I’ve been able to come here. So why haven’t we used this to [transport goods] west?”

While I’m standing here with you, there are children without food in Puerto Rico,” Cruz said, according to NBC News.
“During all the humanitarian crisis in Puerto Rico, there’s been a feature of the Trump administration and that is that they take away the aid before it’s done,” she added.
Cruz and Trump feuded publicly over the Trump administration’s response to Maria, with Cruz at one point appearing on television wearing a T-shirt with the words “help us, we are dying” to criticize Trump’s boasting about the “incredible job” his agencies were doing.
While stores, gas stations, banks and ATMs are reopening, more than 35 percent of residents still do not have a way to safely store food in refrigerators, NBC News reported. Fresh water has been restored to 96 percent of residents.

—-July 5, 2018. PR officials arrested
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — A mayor and two former government officials in Puerto Rico face public corruption charges in separate cases that involve a total of $8 million in federal and local funds, authorities said Thursday. The suspects are the mayor of the southwest town of Sabana Grande and the former directors of finance for the northern town of Toa Baja, which has struggled to pay its employees amid an 11-year recession.
U.S. Attorney Rosa Emilia Rodriguez told reporters that the former officials from Toa Baja are accused of using nearly $5 million worth of federal funds to pay the town’s public employees and municipal contractors.
“Not only is that illegal, it’s immoral,” she said.
Officials said former finance director Victor Cruz Quintero deposited some $2.5 million worth of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development into the town’s general and payroll accounts in October 2014.
He also is accused of making similar deposits and transfers of more than $1.75 million in funds from HUD and the Department of Health and Human Services from September 2014 to February 2016.

You are arguing over casualties that have been confirmed by two independent studies from highly respected universities as well as others, because trump made some stupid remark in an effort to cover his ass for a host of previous stupid remarks about his handling of the Puerto Rico situation. Trump has lied thousands of times, yet here it goes again grasping at anything to support an untenable position. The ‘hard count’ rebuttal is as absurd as it is weak. There will never be a total hard count as bodies washed out to sea or buried in mud may not be found for years, if ever. The trumpers cite hard evidence from such honest and accurate sites like Breitbart, Fox News, Daily Caller, American Mirror, and a host of other right wing propaganda outlets. Apparently, they think if it appears in print (paper or electronic) it is hard news and totally unbiased or false, but only from certain outlets that say what RR readers want to hear, otherwise it’s fake, right? And then there is the incessant tweet-a-thon of BS streaming from the real Donald trump, all true, every word of it, right? Of course, it is just some conspiracy that all those great people surrounding trump are criminals, by their own admission, but the Donald himself is as honest as they come. Birds of a feather? This whole witch hunt thing is not going to end well for Donald the grifter. The sooner the trumpeters come to the realization that they have been duped by one of the greatest conmen of our time, the sooner the country can get back solving the real problems that plague the planet. The straws trumpeters are grasping at are getting shorter by the day.

I agree overall that it is a stupid agrument over how many perished in PR. The esteemed Harvard study said between 800 and 8,000, so toss that one out.
The GW Univeristy study is akin to life insurance companies figuring out Mortality tables that are based on characteristics, such as gender and age, and then try to figure out what exact percentage Hurriacane Maria added to the tables.
A mortality table gives probabilities based in deaths per thousands, or the number of people per 1,000 living who are expected to die in a given year. Life insurance companies use mortality tables to help determine premiums and to make sure the insurance comanies stay solvent.
So, add in the guesstimates of affects of lack of medicine, general (poor) health and age of the population, potable water, lack of refrigeration for food and medicine, guess how many killed in mudslides after counting the mudslides and population density for each of the specific mudslides, take a stab to determine how many washed out to sea, and subtract those findings and guesstimates from the mortality tables and you have a rough figure….looking at the figures on the blackboard at our esteemed colleges. The Matrix is not perfect.
And, of course, some people just don’t want to be found….ever. Always those kinds. A hurricane is a good time to off the mother-in-law and toss her in a raging stream created by the downpour, lol. Just kidding.
Althought the agrument is stupid, my bottomline is different that your bottomline. My is people die in natural disasters. People die in heat waves and cold snaps. Always has, always will.
The other point where we part ways is the treatment of Presidents during such big natural occurrences. Bush never recovered from the relentless bashing of his handling of Katrina, despite the fact that the mayor of New Orleans got the hell out of Dodge when Katrina approached and cops abandoned their jobs to care for their own families. We learn more from each Act of God and get better at it. It was not the winds and rains that wiped out the 9th Ward, it was the failure of the protective levies to split hairs.
Obama was not blamed for the Sandy and was met with a big hug from Gov. Christie as any and all help was more than welcomed. Politics were put on hold. But, not so if a President has a R before his name.
So, while Florence was a CAT 5 hurricane earlier this week barreling toward the US mainland, it all became politics as usual…usual for a (R) president and certainly normal for those afflicted with TAD.

Hmmm. You mean like there all these programs you are itching to implicate to solve the problems that are plaguing the planet but the local and State treasuries just don’t have the greenbacks? So, the real problems are how to get all those greenies out of the hands of those corporations whose fudicary responsibilities is to the shareholders? How to get more money to solve these problems is a big problem. There aren’t enough rich folks, I reckon.
If we could just get our hands on others’ property and money, then the government t can solve all these real problems. Ok.. Do you mean mandated or enforced sameness?

This is one case the anti-gun crowd should just let it ride. Nobody is going to to nothing until, like Janus, people file suits to have it implemented in various locales. Heck, Janus will not even affect half the states.
The article is a bit misleading, but I figure the 9th will overrun….er…overrule. The inherent danger outside of our homes was the gist of it, IMHO. Defending your person and property when one is away from home and out in public means ‘bearing’ arms. Protection of self. Right to bear arms requires ‘bearing arms”….connotations of movement going on. . Keep me mobile. 🙂
The guy filed for an open carry permit, twice. Hawaii County, Hawaii has not issued an open carry permit in 20 years. So, if effect, the dude had the right to “bear arms” only in his home. Well, they are going to fight it and….and…..the Ninth has shown signs that they have been listening to the signaled sharp messages from SCOTUS concerning the First Amendment lately. Never know.
Nay, we are going up the ladder until one side quits. Another 4 years and it will hit SCOTUS, lol. Just give the guy an open carry permit and it will all go away. But, noooo.

Yep. And that younger gal camped out on the highway all day yesterday near me. She has moved down 20. Union did an article about her. Saw people stopping to talk to her, looked like nice folks, clean cut shiny car caring folks, but she just sat there all day. Haven’t been around old town (Amos’s Market) in awhile. Nor the hardware store much. But, I always drive through town rather than go down the highway. They have done a good job at the park. The dogs like to hang out the windows and bark at all the ladies walking their dogs. :). Well, not all. Some dogs don’t interest them.
Hey, I saw a nice bobcat. First one since the last one. Full grown, just walking along right down the tree line and right across the back the other day. About 9:30 in the morning. Dogs went off. Let one dog out and the dog made a bee line to the tree line, where the bobcat was once was, and picked up the scent. Meanwhile, I am looking at this bobcat in the open now and he looks back and sees the dog with his nose to the ground tracking him from up above. The bobcat did a leap to a big tree, circles around, climbed up a bit, leaped on top of some brush nearby and as he was falling over, leaped onto another small bush and continued on his way walking along. The dog still had his nose down when he came to the tree, circled it, sniffed the top of the first bush the cat jumped on, and took the scent right back up the tree line from whence the cat came. 🙂 Smart cat. Instincts. The other dog goes by sight and slightest sound and hunts differently, so I kept her in. She would have been chasing that cat in a heartbeat. Nature is cool.

Kavanaugh supported what Priests for Life believed in Gregory. He ruled in support of the argument that in the view of Priests for Life, contraception was a form of abortion and it violated their religious beliefs and they shouldn’t be compelled to support it through taxation. If he would have believed otherwise, that is was not a form of abortion, then that argument would have lost it’s standing. If you want to quibble about who said what when then go for it.
Do you believe Contraception is a form of abortion Gregory?

Beto O’Rourke just demonstrated how to use an election in Texas
There are two ways to guarantee you’ll lose a statewide election in Texas: campaign for abortion or campaign against guns. Texas Democrats accomplished the first in 2014, when Wendy Davis lost the governor’s race to Greg Abbott by 20 points. Now they’re determined to do the second.
Beto O’Rourke, the photogenic Democratic congressman from El Paso hoping to unseat Republican Sen. Ted Cruz in November, declared at a SXSW event Monday that there’s no reason an AR-15 should be sold to a civilian. According to Politico’s Michael Calderone, O’Rourke, who’s not shy about swearing on the campaign trail, added, “I have no idea how that polls and I should give a shit what the NRA thinks about it.”

It appears the left wing nuts are trying to pass us a =fake set of votes by LaMalfa on SSI and Medicare. Of course, he never voted to cut either yet these lovelies are spewing the lie. They are taking his vote for a balanced budget amendment and twisting it into something else. I expect nothing less than lies like this from the left. Hell even SNOPES says it is BS.

There is a disturbing trend of the Far Left embracing anti-Semitism and preaching of such. Very, very disturbing. The heros of the Far Left extremists embrace hatred.
“If you’re on the side of the oppressor, or you’re defending the oppressor, or you’re actually trying to humanize the oppressor, then that’s a problem sisters and brothers, and we got to be able to say: that is not the position of the Muslim American community.”
Linda Sarsour, co-founder of the Women’s March.
Ok, Jews are not to be humanized. Got it. Sarsour, who has a long history of anti-Semitism, received a ringing endorsement from Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez this week after Sarsour was arrested for disrupting Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court confirmation hearing. It was a love fest.
Muslims in the United States should not assimilate into American society, said Linda Sarsour, a rising star among progressive Democrats. Not only that, Linda Sarsour said Muslim immigrants must not assimilate and Sharia Law is to be followed. “When you look at it [Sharia Law in the US], it makes sense”—Linda Sarsour.
Women’s March Co-Founder Condemns Founding of Israel as ‘Human Rights Crime’
    —-Women’s March co-founder Tamika Mallory
Then there is the Louis Farrakhan problem for the Far Left. Opps, no problem at all.
    https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/03/the-womens-marchs-embrace-of-louis-farrakhan-betrays-its-most-essential-principles.html
Then there is Keith Ellison’s embrace of Farrakhan.
The following is a statement from a rambling anti-government, anti-Semitic speech he gave at his group’s annual “Saviours’ Day Address” late last month.
“White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan, by God’s grace, has pulled the cover off of that Satanic Jew, and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through.”
The Nation of Islam leader has a lot of unkind things to say about LGBTQ people, too, namely that we have a “psychological chemical imbalance” — but Jews appear to be his primary target. In his mind we are responsible for “all of this filth and degenerate behaviour that Hollywood is putting out turning men into women and women into men.”
Not to be outdone, Bernie Sanders not only supported Keith Ellison, he endorsed him! And Beto endorses Cortex and Sarsour and on and on it goes. We have a growing anti-Semitic problem in the socialist movement.
I supposed a lesbian feminist from Canada says it best.

I am not Jewish or Catholic, but this very disturbing evil coming from the Far Left is alarming. It’s literally who they are.
Bonus: Even Courtney Love speaks on the issue.
