   Oh Don, that is too funny. As discussed here for a long time (with Scenes’ invaluable input among others) the SJWs that slithered out from their Grievance Studies classes will tell you you cannot be racist against whites, particularly white men. Impossible. You can say anything you want against or about a white male and it is not being racist, duh. We are the cause and sole source of all society’s ills because America is bad and America is bad because it was founded by White Males…..and not just White People, but….drumroll please….White Christians!!! Gasp, the horrors, the horrors.
   If pressed, they will say that not liking a group of people is not racism. I reckon they are technically correct, but I would not be one to experiment with that theory on these boards. Ok, I can’t resist. ‘I don’t like albino Pygmy eskimos…but I do not judge them or feel superior to them. I just don’t like them. Fuck them. I hope they die a slow painful death.’ See, not racist in the least. 🙂
   When pressed, the Grievance Studies majors will tell you that Y-Ts don’t need no stinkin’ safe place because all of America the Racist Place is the whitey’s safe place. Makes sense to me.
   The real issue here is not if the new NYT editor should be fired or hired. They can hire anyone they choose. The real issue here is the NYT laid down the marker. No longer are old tweets from decades ago or tweets from even two years ago are to be counted against one and being called out on the carpet for those racist tweets….as long as the target is white folk. Old white folk, suffering old white folks, white women is ok. Joy Reid tweeted homophobic Tweets, and got some heat, but apologized and not fired. Guess that is ok. She did not do what Rosanne did, cause only white folks can be racists, duh. Yep, a new marker has been thrown down and we be on the wrong side of the tracks.
   And interesting sidebar to the Jeong story is that her defenders say she was just being satirical. That we white folk just don’t get her kind of comedy. Hmm. I reckon they are right. And all this time I accused the America Haters of being a glum lot with no sense of humor. Hey, Chris Rock stopped doing stand up comedy routines on college campuses because he said they have no sense of humor. Guess Mr. Rock and I were wrong. Mea Culpa. They do have a funny bone, but that sardonic stuff must be over my head. I am such a worm.

    The Judicial system of America has been so corrupted by the left it is truly scary. A Judge back east ruled that DACA must be re-upped. Now we had a SCOTUS that said it was unconstitutional as Obama did it with a EO. And Trump is trying to honor the law by getting it over to the Congress and rescinding a unconst EO. Honest to GOD how does a man with a brain see all this and rule the way he did? A Uncinst EO is to be allowed? This is lunacy.

You need a valid ID to board any commercial aircraft, even to fly from Sacramento to San Jose. Who do you side with? National Security or illegal aliens? Who do you side with? Terrorists of law abiding citizens?
    Who do you side with? An establishment that requires ID to buy alcohol or illegal aliens? Who do you side with? The rule of law or the rule of the mob?

    This was long past due –
    Congress fulfilled that goal in two ways. First, the definition of a “covered transaction” has been massively expanded, with a focus on “critical technology” industries. In the past, there was an expectation that a foreign entity had to essentially buy out a company in order to trigger a CFIUS review. That jurisdiction has now been expanded to include such actions as adding a member to a company’s board of directors, even in cases where an investment is essentially passive.
    The second element Congress added was requiring that CFIUS receive all partnership agreements that a company has signed with a foreign investor. Often in a transaction, there is a main agreement spelling out the overall structure of a deal, and then side agreements with individual investors with special terms not shared with the wider syndicate, such as the right to access internal company data or intellectual property. By requiring further disclosure, CFIUS will have a more holistic picture of a deal and any risks it might add for national security.

    That is a beautiful sentence. I think I’ll re-read it a couple of times and shake my head wonderingly.
    Radio Sputnik is running a story on Facebook right now.
    It’s funny what an ugly deal FB is in any case. Everyone has friends/acquaintances that feel the need to blurt out political stuff 24/7 on Facebook. They should stick to political forums and leave the straights alone. It’s a matter of using an appropriate space for your own particular kinks. Twitter is probably ground zero for that kind of thing.
    I like reading posts from Doug Whathisname and Crickets on GeorgeR’s blog. On Facebook it would get darned tiresome.

    Finally finished the Milo article. I cleared my mind and masticated it slowly piece by piece over several days. One does not read brilliance like that everyday or in a rush.. The part towards the end about Middle Age art really got to me . Yes, there is no other culture that can compare in uniqueness or beauty or the soaring spirit of man. From the mundane to the Divine. Also helps explaines so much going on today in the socio-political realm, as well as dishonesty, tunnel vision, authoritarian behavior, and laziness of our SJWs and humanities departments.     If you think the economy is going good today, just wait until fair trade kicks in. We ain’t seen nothing yet. Yes, there will be some short term hits to specific industries, which is a given. The goal is the reduction of tariffs. We hit China with 200 billion more in tariffs, they responded with 60 billion, lol. We have a 20 trillion dollar economy and the Chicken Littles are running around screaming the sky is falling over 60 billion in higher tariffs. We hold all the cards. Noticed the price of Canadian blueberries has dropped like a rock at the supermarket. The big rush before the tariffs kick in, I reckon.
    Conventional wisdom sez trade wars are bad, everybody looses, nobody wins. As Reagan increased our nuclear arsenal to get the Soviet Union to reduce theirs and back to the negotiating table, what appeared counter-intuitive worked like a charm.
    Conventional wisdom sez the R’s will lose 32 House seats or so in 2018. Conventional wisdom sez a shut down of the government will hurt the R’s….the party causing the shut down. The shut down led by Newt in the Clinton years resulted in a wholesale slaughter of the D’s in the following elections and the shut down led by Reagon resulted in passing his defense bills getting through.
    Conventional wisdom said there was zero chance of Trump winning the electoral college, not even a hundred to one chance given all scenarios. To this very hour, the ones looking like fools are our discredited popinjays. Maybe blaming it all on TAD is being too charitable.
