rlcrabb 1042am – Thanks for the response Bob. But I do think ToddJ asked for your position on the issues (e.g. guns, abortion), and not what you thought about their underlying reality. My own question about citizenship is whether letting resident illegal aliens be “first in line” sends a message to others planning a surreptitious border crossing – get across, hide until your numbers again grow, and then public outcry will get you a fast citizenship certificate; what’s not to like?

Crabby ignored a pure personal attack on me from Frisch to threaten me with banishment… and I called him on it. That got me banished 🙂 Frisch claimed there was absolutely no personal attacks in the comment I identified:

I almost added a caveat to this little essay, that I fully expected a small minded troll who views the world through a lens of self appointed intellectual superiority and a single minded jihadist focus on climate change, would find the spelling error. Oh, BTW, “worshiping at the altar of Smith…” wasn’t referring to you. I was really thinking way behind the tiny world of Goodknight.
I am amazed every time you comment at just how small you are.

I clearly think a much more interesting topic raised by Bob is the one originally posted: what is the nature of free speech, how do we maintain individual ideas in a society of law, and, my added interest, in a society that is organized through capital, how does capitalism address our most pressing problems. I welcome that discussion sans the personalization of the issues.

RL, that 5:29 am warning of your would have been more effective had there truly been a personal insult in my 5:42 pm, or had there been anything but personal insults in Frisch’s 3:35 am.

There were absolutely no “personal insults” in my 3:35 am post. I never pointed to any specific ‘person’, I did not direct it at an individual and I critiqued left and right equally.
The response was directed at me by name, did not address the broader content, chose instead to address one minor sub-point of the case made by the WEF, pointed out a spelling error as an implied critique, and included the statement , “…a steaming heap of self serving crap …” without backing up your opinion with any cited sources, references or even a logical train of thought.

Crabb likes the fake crap Frisch and his ilk spew. But cannot debate anyone on he middle and right as common sense is prevalent. I was banished as I stood up against the personal attacks from the libs and Crabb. Such a child in a old man’s shriveled body. LOL! Crabb’s “cartoons” are really hurting for humor. Did he stop drinking or something?

“I like my social security and medicare. It would be nice if everyone could have them, but how would you ever control the cost?”
What makes you think the costs are controllable even if restricted to the old and in the way generations? Mediscare is running out of money as we speak, and Social Insecurity is a decade or so behind. IIRC, the SS payments are already dipping into the non-existent Trust Fund, the accounting fiction that is the accumulated surplus of money paid in vs money paid out and spent elsewhere, and so rather than papering over deficit spending from the general fund, it’s accelerating the deficit and national debt out in the open.
Time for another phoney-baloney fix to the “pact between generations”, which is at its heart more akin to a feudal promise of a vassal to his lord and master, that binds him and his descendants to sucking up to the liege Lord in perpetuity.

    I am shocked, shocked I say –
Either way, it doesn’t seem to be affecting left-wing accounts. Tariq Nasheed, a black supremacist and self-described “identity extremist,” is not subject to any filter, according to shadowba.eu. Neither is Louis Farrakhan, the left-wing black supremacist and anti-semite. Nor are hate-filled, obscenity-spewing left-wing celebrities like Peter Henry Fonda

Yep. Impossible to please ideologues. Do I have to do a term paper annotated with sources and links to satisfy your curiosity, Professor Todd? It’s so difficult to get through that bigoted skull.
You’ll just have to go on labeling me as the enemy, which doesn’t bother me at all. I get a lot of it from the left as well, but on Facebook where I have a larger and more diverse audience. I must say I’m pleasantly surprised to find that some aren’t as liberal as you might think.
Oh, there are some who demand loyalty to the cause, dumping the Trump. I’ll never please them either.
And Greggy, I’m not sorry I blocked you. Your inability to let anyone but yourself to have the last word was your downfall. After fifty or so responses to anything Steve Frisch says, it just becomes endlessly redundant.
And Todd, I just don’t like you. You’re too bigoted, especially toward gay people. And your last comment (that didn’t make it past purgatory) about Anthony Bourdain being a coward for commiting suicide shows me just lacking in empathy you are for anything that isn’t wrapped in a flag.

What we say and how Crabb thinks….
    https://desertdemocrat.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/gary-larson-far-side-cartoon-what-we-say-to-dogs-blah-blah-ginger.jpeg
Crabby has made it clear he thinks the “geniuses of the left and right” need to open their other eye, the blind one, so they can see the other side of the argument and come to a conclusion in the middle, where he can nod in agreement. This keeps Earl from having to think it through and take a side on something. Lest you think that an exaggeration, here it is:
    http://www.rlcrabb.com/history-2/the-half-blind-leading-the-half-blind/
Time and time again, I’d be subjected to ugly attacks by his old Best Friend Forever Chris Peterson (as reality challenged as Doug Keachie), Frisch and mandersonation, and I had to pull my counterpunches lest what happened would happen. I finally got tired of turning tail.

That is the difference between is Crabb. I don’t like you because you are a hyper hypocrite. Regarding homosexuals? I could care less what they do with each other. It cracks me up that because I supported marriage between a man and a woman, that somehow makes you uncomfortable. Perhaps you harbor something only you know about? And I stand by my comments on Bourdain. Except now it appears he did not commit suicide. He was doing the “asphyxiation” sexual pleasure method and forgot to have an escape. So you can defend the man had left his child without a father and I will simply blast his carcass for it. And lastly, I am no bigot lkike you are. And you are a self-hater which says you are mentally ill. You need help Crabb, go get some.

That strikes me as a fair observation. Maybe the correct term is ‘apostate’.
So, is it sufficient for a new social movement to arise by being rejected by another?

Scenes 1248pm, apostasy fits. Only I chose to leave the Democratic Party… they redefined themselves apart from their founder, Thomas Jefferson and when I finally realized that and there was an alternative, I split.
Now, only if the Libertarian Party could get traction, or the Bernie Bro’s/She Guevara’s split off from the Democratic Party leaving the old party in a shambles.
This November will be interesting but not in my wildest dreams will it be a big step in the left direction by the Dem Party.

Clear as mud. The pathway to citizenship is pretty clear already, it’s called US law.
The thing is, a statement like yours leaves out all the important stuff.
. Who should be able to become a US citizen?
. How many of them should there be?

How about “no voting or benefits” until AFTER citizenship is granted?
More in the clear as mud category… the parents who brought the “Dreamer” in illegally… does the “DREAMer” then pull in their parents who violated US law in the first place? I say no… make them take their place at the end of the line, with five or ten years before their number can even bubble up to the top.

I don’t know if he had a sponsor, but he did get in. He came from England, so it wasn’t a question of asylum. He came to find a job.
I’m pretty sure that motivates most of those who come here. The mothers who try to get their kids away from the gangs and violence are thinking about their future. Do you really believe mothers would expose their families to a dangerous trek over a thousand miles just to get a welfare check? They can’t apply for asylum until they get here, and then they’re braking the law.

You try to do the same with your snarky comments and posts since you lack any artistic talent, so don’t try to set yourself on a pedestal, bunky. What goeth around, cometh around.

Why not suspend clearances when the job is left for any reason? It’s a useless gesture. Having a clearance doesn’t mean you can go browse at the Secrets Library and look at what you want. You still have to have a NEED TO KNOW. The two year bridge for the clearance being reopened just means that if you get into a position where you need to know there is only a minimal delay.
I knew an engineer at Hughes Aircraft in the ’70’s who made the mistake of giving DISCO the name of a family friend who had known him his entire life… only the Swiss was apparently German by birth and had been a Nazi party member. Oooops. That added months onto the time he needed to get the clearance so he could do the work he was hired to do.

Odd nobody is talking about Trump’s tweet to the Mullahs. That story got kicked down a lot of pegs. Very odd. Sure, the usual suspects like Morning Joe said that Trump is a weapononized virus made by Putin, but that’s normal. This tweet just don’t seem to have legs.
Ya think it’s cause they had just got done pulling out the huge guns and everything they had to blast Trump for being soft on Putin and not standing up for America? Guess it would look hypocritical if they geared up for the usual meltdown over the contents of the Iran tweet. Nope. Ain’t going to happen.
Not like when he told Little Rocketman he would rain down fire and brimstone like no country on earth has ever experienced, lol. Trump said he felt foolish doing that, but you can’t be saying that crap threatening us and all. We can put one right up your ass anytime.. Yep, that My Button is Bigger tweet spawned the Trump is certifiable crazy and keep the madman away from the nuclear football! Stop him. The 25th Amendment! Or was that the 15th Amendment? Oh my.
Odd, the story has been put to bed. It was a good tweet nonetheless.

re scenes 133pm – The two aspects of DOD security clearances are 1) classification level granted, and 2) access to classified materials at or below the granted classification. You get #1 after passing a background check, comprehensive to the level to be granted (for Top Secret and above, your friends and relatives will be observed, checked out, and interviewed. It is not uncommon for some of them to contact you afterwards asking what dastardly deed of yours brought on such an interview by the feds.) You get #2 on a ‘need to know’ basis which is a function of your job for which classified information is required. When the job is completed, your access to the relevant materials is automatically suspended without affecting your level of security clearance. To remove #1 is a serious matter and usually requires either a judicial or high level administrative action, and is always done for cause.
When the Comeys, Brennans, et al became private citizens, their access to classified materials should automatically have ended. And anyone subsequently making such materials available to them would themselves be guilty of a felony.
