[So Starbucks is going to sensitize all their employees in all their 8,000+ stores this coming Tuesday afternoon.  Anyone have any idea what difference such newly sensitive employees will make when all the stores will be open to anyone wanting to get in out of the rain and cold, and take advantage of a pause that refreshes?  gjr]

Crabb’s blog has some McCarthyism yapping away. The Frisch and Crabb rhetoric is so funny. These are the guys that force the “Little Sisters of the Poor” to give birth control against their beliefs. These guys are the one’s that force anti-Planned Parenthood organizations to post abortion providers against their will. These are the guys that snitch on their neighbors who are having a few cocktails. You would think they were pure as the driven snow. One is a old druggie who can’t remember the 60’s and the other is a person that stole his employees taxes from the federal government to the tune of some estimates are $250,000. And they are upset that Trump and others might not like a NFL dude kneeling for the Anthem. You cannot make up this absurd comedy of these two idiots. Frisch says people hat are upset are nazis. Where have we heard that before?

That’s hilarious scenes! Well they gave 0 one for nothing so there is still some hope.
ranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, a key architect of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, was caught on camera chanting “Death to America,” “Death to Britain” and “Death to Israel,” Israeli outlet Ynetnews reported on Saturday.
Zarif participated in the violent chants on Thursday after Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei delivered a speech in Tehran, according to Ynetnews.
Zarif’s call for the destruction of America came less than two months after he secretly met with former Secretary of State John Kerry in mid-April to try and save the Iran nuclear deal.
Kerry’s “unusual shadow diplomacy” was ultimately unsuccessful, as President Donald Trump announced on May 8 the U.S. would be withdrawing from the deal. Iranian lawmakers responded that same day by setting an American flag on fire on the floor of parliament and chanting, “Death to America!”
Kerry and Zarif were considered to be among the frontrunners for 2017’s Nobel Peace Prize for their work on the Iran deal.

Wow – jonnie and Bobby must be way deep into the sauce this weekend.
The Fed ID law was passed (not proposed) back in ’05. Look it up.
There have been waivers for the states due to concerns it would be impossible to process everyone in a timely manner, but it’s been 13 years and time’s up. It doesn’t impinge on state’s rights because the states don’t have to issue a federally approved ID. You can keep your current DL or ID if you want. It’s true you won’t be able to board a plane to fly within a state without a fed approved ID but don’t blame that on Trump. The TSA is in charge of all airline safety so that’s the way it is. Been that way for a long time. I don’t like it either but you can chase that sort of baloney back to FDR when his SCOTUS decided that a farmer couldn’t grow wheat for his own family to eat without running afoul of federal regs.
As far as the NFL broo-ha-ha:
Here’s what the game operations manual says regarding the national anthem, according to an NFL spokesperson:
“The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem.
During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area should stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking. The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem may result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.”
Nothing about the Amish or anyone else. Unless you’ve been hyperventilating over your Bar B Q lined with MJ. The feds haven’t arrested or threatened to arrest anyone for kneeling or laying down or what ever. It’s not a 1stA issue in any way. When you’re on the clock you do what the boss man say. If you don’t like it – there’s the door.
You can always collect garbage or work at Burger King. Then try to carry out your ‘protest’. You are out the door. Again. Trump won’t go after you nor does he care.
Meanwhile Team Penske does it again.
Tomorrow we remember those who have sacrificed all even for those ungrateful morons like Bobby and jonnie who can’t seem to understand what principles our country was founded on and the freedoms we enjoy to this day. Including the 1st and 2nd A’s.

And now I will venture into a word deemed dirty by our enlighten friends on the dark side of the street.
Haselby is correct that “mere military supremacy” is not enough to sustain American exceptionalism or American patriotism in the long run. His mistake is to believe American patriotism is primarily linked to power.
America’s creed of God and liberty was forged in rebellion. Its Founding Fathers wrote a constitution that spelled out all the things its new government could not do to them. Its marines carried flags bearing coiled rattlers and the motto “Don’t Tread on Me.” It fought a bloody war over two decades against the most powerful empire in the world, a war incited by the cry of “Liberty or Death!”
The charge that American patriotism is a deadly form of identity politics overlooks a truth many intellectuals cocooned in academia and saturated in race, gender, and class ideology cannot understand: most patriots are not celebrating America’s “identity”; we are celebrating America’s ideals.
And as long as those ideals remain life, liberty, and the free pursuit of happiness, I say: God Bless America.

In the “art of the deal vs. the emoluments clause of the Us Constitution” this: China has approved 5 new Ivanka Trump trademarks for exclusive marketing rights in China. This on top of several similar deals. It’s just a coincidence that five days later Trump announced he was working on a deal to lift U.S. business barriers against ZTE in order to save Chinese jobs. That on top of a potential $500,000 million investment by the Chinese in a theme park that just happens to be next to a planned trump resort that is in the works.
Does using the presidency to enrich your children fall under the emoluments clause?

I’d say that forming a shared idea of nation is larger than the US version of Roman Virtues.
To some extent you need a lot of ballyhoo to get everyone pulling on the same rope. George Washington’s cherry tree, Honest Abe, Betsy Ross, Old Ironsides, folk songs, heroic deeds, Taming of the West, etc.
As a counter to this (h/t to the Black Pigeon Speaks vidya I’ve posted up), the Green Libertarians have invented new foundation myths based on slavery, the Holocaust done by German white people, peace loving Apaches being savagely murdered by the US cavalry, Custer getting what he deserved, smallpox blankets. I mean, really, how could you defend such an evil place?
It’s interesting watching the G. Libertarians always back whatever is perceived as the opposite of the West, no matter how ridiculous.
I’m happy to admit that I back my own people, even if the situation is unclear as to morality. Who are they for? Humanity generally? The erotic feeling of self flagellation? A love of soy milk?
The thing is, in-group preference is real and it works. Shucking it off means giving all your gold and wimmen to the neighbors.

Not taking a side on Robinson’s views, , but there seems to be a pattern in the Western Developed Countries (Canada to the EU to Down Under) to not talk about who exactly and precisely are the perpetrators. Guess the last President to serve in the military was George H W Bush. Got shot down in his bomber during WW2. Got plucked out of the water by a sub, I believe. George W. Bush served in the Air Nat’l Guard, but the media at the time said he did that to get out of doing “real” military service and he joined the reserves solely to get out of active duty. I can see their point., albeit I don’t have to agree with it. I feel there are many ways to serve your country when called, and many ways to answer the call when not called, but that’s just me. Rosie the Riveter comes to mind.
Service in the reverses or National Guard was always considered weekend warrior stuff….until the Iraq wars. Then the AF reserves started doing 3 month stints, at bases scattered around the globe, not always in a war zone.
Reagan did not serve in the military, the POTUS before George H W Bush. Carter served in the Navy, the POTUS before Reagen. Nixon served in the Navy as well. We all know General Ike served, the last General to be elected President.
Whether one served or not, one can still be commander-in-Chief. Whether one served or not, anyone can pause to remember those who sacrificed all. You don’t need to be a first responder to honor fallen first responders, nor a domestic violence victim to attend a candlelight vigil for victims of domestic violence.

Wait, what, did hell freeze over?
A new editorial in the Harvard Crimson — the student publication of Harvard University — now calls for the campus to be more accepting of conservative students following an extensive 18-month “diversity and inclusion” study by the university’s administration which found that only a “startling” 1.5 percent of the faculty identified as conservative while 83.2 percent are liberal.
“These statistics do not reflect America: 35 percent of Americans identify as conservative, 23 times the fraction of the faculty survey’s respondents, This stark divide has harmful effects on the University’s ability to train our nation’s leaders, and it risks alienating current and potential conservative students. It has also likely contributed to the declining trust of Americans in higher education, which has deleterious effects. Much more work is needed to make this important element of diversity a priority. We believe the University must emphasize hiring professors with diverse beliefs and backgrounds who can challenge prevailing campus ideas through tough ideological conversations,” the editorial reads.
The students are interested in “expanding the diversity conversation” here.
“Increasing ideological diversity — and making students who may disagree with mainstream campus ideas more welcome — should be worked toward beyond merely hiring intellectually diverse faculty, however. Initiatives to promote campus conversations in which beliefs are questioned should be encouraged, as should giving students the resources they need to feel comfortable but not unchallenged in their identities. By doing so, we expand the diversity conversation to make as many students feel as welcome as we can,” the editorial recommends.

    1)Welcome home, Gregory.
    2) Concerning George Boardman’s last column in the Union, he referenced another Other Voices’s column, The Royal Box. The reference was to Martin Luther King’s most famous quote about judging others by the content of one’s character, not the color of one’s skin.
I am afraid that we may all live to see the day when MLK’s statues will be torn down, schools and parks named in his honor renamed, and who knows what else. There is nothing, absolutely nothing coming out of acamedia that gives me hope this will not happen eventually, contingent upon SJW’s continued push they are espousing at every turn.
Harvard is having commence ceremonies exclusively for black students in some departments and white students will have their separate ceremonies…per the University. Evergreen College is back at it, declared No White Day again. Whites are prohibited from campus on that day. The news about a bar in Oregon having Reparations Day once a month where whites are not allowed to attend, albeit donations from white people are encouraged and eagerly accepted.
The idea of taking any individual and grouping him/her into an entire broadbrush category based solely on the color of the indivual’s skin color is the very definition of racism, be it in a bar in Oregon or from the ivy covered halls of Harvard University.
The color blind society is much ridiculed in today’s world and is the very antithesis of what SJWs and the humanities departments across America teaches, not to mention other forums. The politics of Identity is not everything, it’s the only thing.
On a more hopeful note, reading the comments about Reparations “Happy Hour” is that some Black Americans are upset that other POC are being grouped in with blacks Americans for the free drinks. Black Americans have the unique history (among all POC here) of being enslaved on distantant continents and brought forceably to this country. The slaves were not indigious to this continent, (or hemisphere) as Native Americans and Hispanics were. The point is the black experience is unique for the aforementioned reason, and some are not taking kindly to Reparations Day at the bar being hijacked by “others”….other POCs not intended to be in their group to receive reparations, akin to some complaints of those Born Woman objecting to transsexuals freeloading on their movement and organizations
The silver lining is the fractured nature of Identity Politics will afford me the opportunity to watch them eat their own, sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly. Somebody has to be the most deserving of the victim class status. The bad news is Martin Luther King’s life’s work may have been in vain. Judging by the content of character instead of the color of one’s skin? The victimization group mentality laughs at the very notion. In fact, that is called racist thinking.

Ummm… not exactly. While black students did have unofficial ceremonies that kinda looked like graduation ceremonies the day before… the degrees were conferred en masse on Thursday AM, from baccalaureate to Doctor of Philosophy, and the paper handed out in Diploma Awarding Ceremonies in the afternoon. The Black ceremony was not official. Just a place where they can be themselves without the people of pallor or the non-URM minorites suing to not be discriminated against looking on.
Part of that is that to fit the teeming masses yearning to get a look of their loved one, only two tix were available per person for the main ceremony and there just weren’t enough to meet demand. My son was told that if Rosie and I wanted to be sitting in the damn good seats the PhD student tix would be, we’d have to be there at 645AM Eastern time to get to them. There were satellite auditoriums that had video feeds and we chose to see the early festivities from there. As it was, with the formalized “wheras and wherefors” and the domini-domini you’re all graduated now, it took about an hour.
As an aside, a Harvard president of the 1930’s was quoted as saying Harvard U’s College of Education ‘was a kitten that ought to be drowned’, to use an older rural phrase borne of hard choices on the farm… had he seen what it had come to in 2018, he’d have gotten the bucket and gone to work.
