DB at 6:01 – agreed. JoAnn brings a point I have long labored on. It’s tricky – it’s controversial – it’s touchy – it brings up questions of state control over citizens – it brings up facts regarding the damage deranged citizens do in open society.
The main problem now is that the left are happy to let damaged people obtain weapons and then let them kill people and then go after honest, law abiding citizens to disarm them. I will be the first to tell you this is an extremely complicated and sensitive subject. A person I know and his wife adopted a child from birth. It turned out he had issues that were unknown to them. He needed medication, but upon turning 18 he decided he didn’t want to continue his needed drugs. I don’t know all the details, but he ended up stabbing another person who later died. Well, thank God he didn’t shoot him, that would have been really awful! Stabbing is only now considered to be a problem by the authorities in GB. Not here in our ‘progressive’ America.
My friend had prevailed upon the authorities to do something to force his adopted son to continue his medication. Sorry! He has ‘Constitutional Rights!’
Yes he does. I’m aware that many countries use this issue to drug many innocent folk into a stupified state solely because of their protesting misdeeds by the govt.
I have no idea how the leviathan of state can resolve this issue. But clearly we have had several instances lately where people that are clearly deranged are let free by the authorities to wreak havoc on society.
I’m always inclined to let folks of a different bent in life live freely without govt constraint. But once there are complaints of that person causing threats of actual violence (not of the made-up snowflake sort) we need to let the authorities take some sort of control over that person.
I fully understand the history of how govts corrupt the treatment of the institutionalized citizens. It is a shameful history of abuse of authority.
But when people are clearly nut cases who have a history of threatening other people or who have actually harmed other people, we are obliged to remove them from free society. Why should innocent victims suffer because of the past abuses of lax controls over those who administer the treatment of institutionalized people?

“Senate Bill 1250, which is set for its first hearing in the Senate Elections and Constitutional Amendments Committee this afternoon, would clarify that a domicile is determined solely by where an individual is registered to vote and no other factors — reverting to the longtime legal standard and overriding the precedent set by Wright’s conviction.”

I ran into this article this morning:
https://www.theunion.com/opinion/letters/nancy-mitchell-hodge-holding-fundraisers-outside-the-county/
and did have to wonder about how kosher it is to do statewide fundraising for a supervisor seat. It’s a bummer to see crazy-making national politics entering what is basically a job interview for running the mechanics of a county, but when your primary resume item is your sexual orientation it is what it is.
When I run for supervisor, maybe I can get the left-handed people of California to donate to my cause. It seems about as valid a personal quirk to hang a political career on.
After doing a bit of research on HH’s out-of-county experiences, gotta make sure that the letter to the editor is legit, I did run into Spanky’s autistic screeching about George’s political contributions (not one post, but two whole posts!). Mr. Pruett made a reasonable objection, and then Spanky started shouting at mirrors. lol. Wow, is that guy crazy or what? I should look at his site once in a while.

From the bill:
“This bill would reiterate that the domicile of a Member of the Legislature or a Representative in Congress is to be determined solely by the operation of this conclusive presumption and not by the above-described factual criteria otherwise used to determine a person’s domicile, and not by whether the address indicated on the affidavit of registration would otherwise qualify as the person’s legal domicile”
Shit. You gave me real hope there for a second. I was thinking that I could register to vote in Nevada and thus pay Nevada income tax.
lol. High GINI score, Spanish-speaking underclass, single party politics, crooked as all get-out legislature…just get a little more growth in the favelas and our banana republic status is ensured.
I figure that the Green Libertarians use “not by the above-described factual criteria” as their primary motivators in life.

Yup! Things be ah change’n on the Big island of Hawaii.
“A collapse of the Puʻu ʻŌʻō crater floor Monday afternoon on Kīlauea Volcano’s East Rift Zone has prompted increases in seismicity and deformation along a large section of the rift zone, with seismicity currently occurring as far east as Hwy 130. A outbreak of lava in a new location is one possible outcome. At this time it is not possible to say with certainty if or where such an outbreak may occur, but the area downrift (east) of Puʻu ʻŌʻō is the most likely location, as this is where seismicity and deformation have been concentrated overnight. ”

that’s big news. I hope to never get stuck in the hellhole again. To finish previous story, I had finished the job from hell up on Mauna Kea, got to the airport, was boarding to get back to America, land of the free and hope of the brave, when the loudspeaker said “Crazy Injun, Do Not Board, do not board the plane. Repeat, do not board.” Had go back up to Mauna Kea….for another 13 days. Somebody screwed up with equipment and instruments and such, and wasn’t me. Anyway, that is why I was pissed caused Mouna Loa erupted, no helicopters to rent, and stuck up in that post nuke looking landscape where you can’t even sit on a rock with having a silica glass imbedded in your hand. The only thing I could see of Hawaii was the daily total cloud cover at 5,000’, way below me. In fact, the only thing I could see that looked green was Maui sticking up out of the clouds a couple hundred miles away,
Funny thing though. We had hired some locals to clean up after us and get a couple vehicles and some equipment off the Mauna Kea, the tallest peak in the Hawaiian Islands. The helpers told me they had retrieved everything, but noooo. Well, they got it down to the bottom, but went partying or something, and did not take the stuff allthe way back to Hilo. Anyway, Mauna Loa started flowing, cut off the road to Kona, and two rented vehicles and other equipment got buried under who knows how many feet of hot lava. Maybe some archeologist will discover those artifacts of modern civilization in a couple hundred years, lol. . Lazy locals, albeit that young gal I hired from the Univerisity of Hawaii, Hilo, was a great worker and go-fer for me. The rest were bums.

It’s peculiar that they’ve managed to build a form of political religion that combines socialism, hatred for traditional culture, anarchism, and open borders. It’s certainly not something that you can reduce to a small manifesto, but the adherents would agree 100% on a desired outcome.
You know, maybe it’s just that countries need mass mental illness, a kind of infectious disease really, just to keep things hopping. View it as evolution in action.

Despite carping from the usual precincts, I thought Mrs. R acquitted herself well in today’s edition of The Union.
The back story (as we say in the writing business) was well done. She provided a clear explanation of how we emptied out the mental hospitals and thrust the burden of treating the mentally ill on unprepared counties.
Unlike another writer I could name, she favors clear declarative sentences and employs language that doesn’t send me to my unabridged dictionary. I look forward to the next three installments.

Another 0 legacy that will take a long time to flush out of the military –
A military investigation at Fort Bragg determined Chaplain Scott Squires should be disciplined for his failure to include a lesbian couple in the Strong Bonds Marriage Retreat. They determined he had discriminated against a soldier based on her sexual orientation.
Chaplain Squires is endorsed by the Southern Baptist Convention’s North American Mission Board. The Southern Baptists forbid its chaplains from facilitating marriage retreats that include same-sex couples.
Had Chaplain Squires participated in the marriage retreat he would have risked losing his endorsement by the Southern Baptists. Likewise, the Army requires its chaplains to adhere to their endorsers’ rules and religious tenets.
Instead, he found another chaplain who was able to lead a marriage retreat that included same-sex couples.
The lawmakers said the Army’s handling of the incident appears “to be in contradiction to federal law.”
According Section 533(b) of the 2013 National Defense Authorization Act, “No member of the Armed Forces may:
1 Require a chaplain to perform any rite, ritual or ceremony that is contrary to the conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs of the chaplain; or
2 Discriminate or take any adverse personnel action against a chaplain, including denial of promotion, schooling, training, or assignment, on the basis of the refusal by the chaplain to
comply with a requirement prohibited by paragraph (1).”

May Day continued, Happy 200th Birthday Karl.
“Social justice movements like Black Lives Matter and #MeToo, owe something of an unspoken debt to Marx through their unapologetic targeting of the ‘eternal truths’ of our age. Such movements recognize, as did Marx, that the ideas that rule every society are those of its ruling class and that overturning those ideas is fundamental to true revolutionary progress.”
He concludes by noting: “Marx, as I have said, does not offer a one-size-fits-all formula for enacting social change. But he does offer a powerful intellectual acid test for that change. On that basis, we are destined to keep citing him and testing his ideas until the kind of society that he struggled to bring about, and that increasing numbers of us now desire, is finally realized.”

Ok, let’s look at the rot in America’s soul.
If you’re a normal human being, like the majority of Americans who saw their Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter feeds fill up with prom pictures last weekend, you thought that was a pretty girl in a pretty dress. Nothing more.
But if you’re a toxic social-justice warrior, you saw something else. You saw oppression. You saw exploitation. You saw bigotry. You saw — gasp — “cultural appropriation.” The dress, you see, had obvious Asian influences, and Daum isn’t Asian.”

Do you have a link for that? I’m hoping like hell that it’s true because it cracks me up, but could only find fringe news sites and a couple of op-ed things from a few years back.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they helped out in the uproar. We’re surrounded by this kind of thing. AM talk radio, a politicized Google messing with search and youtube to establish a narrative. Foreign countries trying to push public opinion one way or the other (one in particular, and it ain’t Russia). ‘Leaks’ that are lies and ‘lies’ that are leaks. The web just sped up the whole thing.
Just look how sure the crack KVMR news team can be about something or the other, purely from a diet of some websites and the ever-dour Amy Goodman.
The thing is, if people just spoke about things they had real world knowledge about (and hopefully strong domain knowledge in), it would be a boring bunch of words indeed.

Mr. West, being a free thinker, really has thrown the Leftists for a loop. Like something got stuck in their caw or they are chewing on barbed wire. They act like he is a threat to their dearest core beliefs and Mr. West challenges their worldview. Puzzling. Another toxic male for the enlightened to hate on, I suppose.

History lesson: “Abe Lincoln freed and protected the slaves and he was republican. Republicans were the ones who’s [sic] helped black people … democrats protected the rights of the slave owners in the South.” —Kanye West continuing to blow leftist minds
Frowning upon dissent: “Kanye West is a very creative young man. … But we also think that sometimes West talks out of turn and perhaps he needs some assistance in helping him to formulate some of his thoughts. … I think maybe he should think twice about politics — and maybe not have so much to say.” —Rep. Maxine Waters
For the record: “There’s tremendous irony to Waters calling West uninformed, a person who needs help formulating his thoughts. This is a woman who called the Los Angeles riots an ‘uprising.’ This is a person whose husband, a major stockholder in OneUnited Bank, stood to see major benefit from her position on the House Financial Services Committee. This is a Congresswoman who said that Putin was invading Korea (not Crimea), said that she was once a Millennial (nope), promoted abortion by saying, ‘I have to march because my mother could not have an abortion’ (wut) and claimed that she never called for Trump’s impeachment after calling repeatedly for Trump’s impeachment.” —Ben Shapiro

Elementary my good man. The Leftist Nazis hate the Jews. The words “we support Israel” cannot co-exist within the Haters’ vocabulary. Islamofascists good, Jews bad. Yes, there has been a rash of assaults and attacks on Jews by the bigoted loeftists ately, from the EU to New York City. And the disturbing trend is growing by the week.
Think about it. Adolfo Hilter started the Muslim Brotherhood with his Muslim cohorts in crime. Both hate the Jews to the max. Iran does not want to rule the world. Iran just has one goal: KILL THE JEWS, everywhere they may be found, KILL all of them. Death to Israel and all that stuff. Iran is a one trick pony. Hilter and his Nazi counterparts in the Middle East are soul brothers. Bosom buddies joined at the hip.
Jews are not deemed a minority on campuses, thus denied their daily dose of victimhood, but much worse than that, denied victim class status. They probably rank below straight white normal folks on the hate index.
No surprise some of the most prominent Women’s March leaders love on Louie Louie Farrakhan. He hates Jew, queers, and White Folk and so do they. Gays and Jews and White Folk…..like Milo! Lions, and tigers, and bears, oh my.
Duplicity is a common thread when objectively looking at the haters.
Worth posting this again. Been a couple of years. Kinda says it all.

Bluer Wave continues in Florida
“In the fourth and final Florida bellwether election since 2016, the Democratic candidate beat the Republican in a contested race, providing the best evidence yet that the GOP is in retreat heading into the midterm elections under an unpopular president.
On Tuesday, in Florida’s 114th state House District in Miami, Javier Fernandez beat Republican Andrew Vargas by about 4.1 percentage points, despite being outspent by at least 2-1 in a swing seat where voters split their tickets between both parties in the 2016 elections.
“Let the Blue Wave Continue!” crowed the chairwoman of Florida’s Democratic Party, Terrie Rizzo.’

A state House race? A state House race?? Seat lasts only til November and the state House is out of session? Then they run again? Well, there is the proof, “providing the best evidence yet that the GOP is in retreat heading into the midterm elections under an unpopular president.”
Well, guess that is the best evidence you got, ROFLMAO. Yes, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Reminds me of all those Obama green sprouts he saw out there in the stagnet economy. What ever happened to Shotgun Joe’s Recovery Tour? Guess those green sprouts had swallow roots.
Best evidence of the Blue Wave? By all means, claim a state House seat. Best evidence? Note to self: Be afraid, be very afraid. Best evidence, lol.

This is too funny… you didn’t read the article carefully, did you, Paul…
Trump lost the Florida 114th by 14%, so the Dem winning by only 4% means Dem voters were fleeing the Dem candidate… the blue wave is over!!!
