   You know, with all the gun foofaraw, it’s interesting to think about the 50 states as their own petri dish of laws.
   It’s funny that a state next door, Arizona, has largely the same demographics (assuming that makes any difference as all populations of people are absolutely equal), problems with illegals, mix of urban/rural, but such different gun laws.

   Arizona: Gun ownership – 32.3% Murder rate – 4.1/100k Gun murder rate – 2.5/100k
   California: Gun ownership – 20.1% , Murder rate – 4.8/100k, Gun murder rate – 3.3/100k
   Now, mind you, California has among the most stringent gun rules in the nation and it’s practically impossible for most people to get a concealed weapon permit. Arizona allows any adult (who isn’t a felon or a few other things) to carry a gun either concealed or open, no permit needed. Plus there’s no knife laws at all.
   So riddle me this, how is California safer for all it’s rules?

   I remember spending three months in Tucson on a business trip with and to Hughes Aircraft Co. in late ’77. At the time AZ didn’t have concealed carry but open carry was depending on the town. Tucson didn’t, but South Tucson, separately incorporated, did… and it was a culture shock to see folks walking with a Colt SAA in a western rig. Not that much of a shock… not like the shock of bikers wearing gang colors and missing teeth trying to sell me meth or pot in the parking lot outside of The Bum Steer saloon.
   AZ is a birthplace of Libertarianism, and the GOP there (like Barry Goldwater) have had a lib streak all along. Gary Nolan (of Nolan Chart fame) ran for the 8th District Congressional seat in 2006 and got nearly 5% of the vote statewide for Senate in 2010, dying of a stroke later that month.
   No, California isn’t safer though it’s difficult to say whether we’re worse off… at best one can say with a higher crime rate and a leftward bent, gun laws have been passed and when they don’t work, more gun laws are the obvious fix.
   Not unlike a barber of old prescribing a good bleeding for whatever ails you.

Nevada County judges with their low bails fuel the 5,6,7,8 bails and still the judges think that they will be better on what the 20th time? 😉

   No one is claiming a “win” in Arizona but it is an indicator that the Repubs who won by 5% in a district that voted 21% for Trump are may be in trouble in the fall in districts that lets say voted only 10% for Trump. Combining that with the normal mid term loses for incumbent parties would cause any realistic Republican pollster and researcher to have concerns. I’m not implying you are one of those observers. You seem to embrace a Pollyanna vision for this fall for the Republican party.

    1). No, it was the wolf pack that woke me up early in the darkness. Something big was out in the darkness.
    Been meaning to ask you. What/who was that big yellow helicopter doing a few days ago? Not everyday I see an aircraft not only at eye level, but below eye level. Like the construction ones they used to work on Oreville. Not Calstar, not hovering over Hwy 20, but flying low (above the tree tops) over dirt roads and flying in a slow pattern around the county line, Nevada County side. Same day as the car chase that ended poorly for the driver in Foresthill, but hovering low around Big Oak Valley, not pavement, sweeping the area. Any ideas?

    Not slamming the Dems on this one, just confirming two observations.
    1). Obama did not trust the D state party apparatus, nor the DNC in the least. Bernie won’t cough up his e-mail lists, no matter how much the pressure…for quite a while. He switched back to being a non-member of the Democratic Party. Those lists was worth more than their weight in gold. Well, the Dems did give Bernie a small private plane, after the election, which is all he asked for…but I digress.
    Jill Stein grabbed all those donor lists and e-mail addresses when she raised the funds to have recounts in WI, Michigan, and PA (Philly). Raised more than her entire 2016 campaign in days…after it was over, lol Those post- election lists are worth about 6 million smackers and she ain’t coughing them up to the DNC either.
    The recent AZ special election shows the DNC sat on the sidelines. No need to waste money when there are so many Soros/Obama/Media Matters/Parented Parenthood type of groups pouring money in all these special elections races. They are awash in mula and champing at the bit to bury R’s.
    Point #1 is that a bunch of folks on the Left do not trust the DNC to spend money wisely or on candidates they prefer. Or, they just don’t like the DNC no more. Oh baby, where has the love gone? You think the Bernie Bros or the extreme far left (aka the Lefties) are going to send their mula to Tom Perez instead of their preferred political advocacy organization?
    Whether it is a boycott, or protest for the hanky panky done by Hillary’s 08’ Co-Campaign Manager Debbie Whatzername Shultz, or for other reasons. the Dems, no matter how fired up they be, are not sending their little cards and letters to the DNC or the state committees. It’s going elsewhere, like PACs.
    2). Hillary sure loves the greenies and no matter she does, it’s always makes her look like a shameless opportunist. Kinda hard to conclude otherwise.

Decide to take 65 north to 70 to Hamilton Smartsville on the way home and you could see the big gray birds lined up in the fields on runways normally empty, aka, unnoticed. Gee, never seen planes parked there. And wow, it looks like a parking lot they way they were packed in nose to tail. Figured they were bringing in cargo loads of Norwegians.

    Ray Moore? Might be creepy, but not a child molester…even 40 years ago. And all that changed when he met and married the love of his life. My whole take on Moore is that the Deplorables flatly declared give us better candidates or put it where the sun don’t shine. And the “child molester” barely lost, lol. Luther was our man. The RNC tried to get their boy in, spent millions slamming Luther Strange and left Ray Moore as the default candidateas they split the 3 way race.
    Water under the bridge now. I will concede Strange is a weird name for a politician, sort of like Charlie Brown or Doolittle or for the AZ angle, Flake. What a Flake and Moore’s name should have been Strange….but we must’nt judge a book by its cover, despite sometimes the shoe fits.
    Since Hillary is not in the ballot in 2018, it’s important that all parties put up good candidates. My Gal got the most votes and was the best Dem candidate in US history. 🙂
    BTW, this whole 2020 talk is ridiculous, IMHO. Ridiculous before the 2018 primaries , where local issues and local candidates weight the scales more than any national candidate. First things first. In fact, until we know who is facing off against whom after June, I can’t make an honest assessment on November 2018.
    As far as projecting 2020 this far out, is it going to be Jeb or Rubio….or will Scott Walker lead the pack? Opps, that was 2014, sorry. Even in 2014, everybody knew it would be Hillary….everybody. Even Biden.
    2020? My two cents is the Lefties have to impeach Trump because as of this date in history 2.5 years out, the Dems know damn well they don’t have a single candidate that can beat Our President in 2020. They know it, I know it, and only the popinjays who read Huff-n-Puff blogs don’t. Patience. Objects have a way of getting more in focus the closer you get to them. Go figure. I read that in a book somewhere.

It’s not like what happened to George W with the 24/7 Lord of the Flies boys dancing around with W’s head on a stake in their typical feverish frenzy chanting “War Criminal, War Crimal” into the wee hours of the night…….drinking their yohimbe bark tea and waving around big ass peace pipes filled with the dried sacred Gangha Flower. With the entire exttreme alt-left mainstream in the Dem’s pockets, that can drive someone’s numbers below 29 and sink ‘em. Funny, they have pulled out more stunts and vile than that on Trump in 16 months than Bush in 8 years and Trump’s numbers hold. Go figure. Must be an anomaly
    . All I look at is Punchy’s last numbers when he posts. -12? Heck, they usually are minus -15, week after week, month after month. This bodes quite well, thankyou.
    Here’s the deal. The Deplorables don’t have a majority, and neither to the liberals or the D’s or R’s if they stood alone. So, we will take Trump’s numbers, some Never Trumpers (who will not endorse, but fall in line and vote for the Emperor God at the last minute), along with a rather humongous hunk of the Republican Party, and of, course, normal Americans, and it’s relection for our third party candidate, the current President of these here United States.
    If we can get up to 43% approval with TDS as severe as it is, we are doing another dance at Key Largo.
