Sorry if your daughter is buddies with Boss Hogg. My apologies for cutting so close to home. Honestly, I didn’t know. Did she send back any pictures of his spewing volcano?
Now, back to the more pressing question neither you or anyone else dared answer. The kid being chased by Taylor Swift killed four diners before he had to reload and was stopped by an unarmed hero. Doesn’t that make a case for limited rounds? How many more would be killed if he had a sack full of 30 round clips?

Hmmmm I swear I only hit Post once.
Another bit of news… famed Nevada City family man Jeff Pelline is vacationing alone in Hawai’i … but it’s all good, he even calls home so he can help his kid with homework every night. His high school aged kid.
Anyone here have their dad help them with homework ever in high school? I will say I kinda helped my kid once, when he was studying AP Chemistry as a sophomore, catching up on reading after a choir trip. My son in an exasperated tone asked what was really a rhetorical question, “What the h*** is ‘Ksp’?” and without a stumble I said “It’s a solubility constant”… he calmed right down, found the section where it was introduced and said something like “wow, you really did take this stuff before”. Not a single question since, not at NU, not Berkeley, not Harvard. That suited me fine. 🙂

Obama Justice Dept.’s attempts to influence investigations exposed in McCabe probe
Tucked inside the inspector general’s report on former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was the story of an August 2016 phone call from a high-ranking Justice Department official who Mr. McCabe thought was trying to shut down the FBI’s investigation into the Clinton Foundation while Hillary Clinton was running for president.
The official was “very pissed off” at the FBI, the report says, and demanded to know why the FBI was still pursuing the Clinton Foundation when the Justice Department considered the case dormant.
Former FBI officials said the fact that a call was made is even more stunning than its content.
James Wedick, who conducted corruption investigations at the bureau, said he never fielded a call from the Justice Department about any of his cases during 35 years there. He said it suggested interference.

Trump 2020
Generally seen as underwater, below the surface things are very different for Trump. President Trump elicits strong reactions from two-thirds of America’s electorate. Yet among the one-third in neither camp, the president is quietly doing quite well.
Rasmussen’s 4/16 daily tracking poll, the same polling closest to 2016’s popular vote, gave interesting insight into President Trump’s support. Overall, Trump’s job approval rating was 51 percent (48 percent disapproval). Among the hardcore, his strong support was 35 percent; his strong disapproval: 39 percent.
On the surface, these results are unexciting… until compared to 2016’s actual results. In 2016, Trump received just 46.1 percent of the popular vote. Rasmussen’s 4/16 results put him five percent ahead of what won him the presidency.
Also, Rasmussen’s 4/16 hardcore results closely mimic 2016 exit polling.

More VDH: Respect Unearned.
“Washington’s self-righteous establishmentarians talk of professionalism when they act unprofessionally. They refer at length to their intellectual and professional pedigrees when they prove incompetent. And they cite their morality and ethics when they possess neither. And then, adding insult to injury, when the public expresses abhorrence at their behavior, they accuse critics of unprofessionalism, a lack of patriotism, or reckless demagoguery.”

jons 1001am – it appears that you haven’t been paying attention as to what are the seminal parts of the gun debate. You’re arguing a tautology to maximize a utility that is solely a function of expected loss of life in school massacres. But unfortunately, for people driven by anecdotal goads to emotion, that may be a bit too demanding when considering ‘gun violence’ in terms of broad and long-term social benefit. As I said, we live in different universes.

A magazine change is only a few seconds (or less if you’re good), even with a silly bullet button if you have the right setup.
Truth is, the whole push is from people who aren’t shooters, but by golly they have this brilliant idea. Also, it’s a thing you can attach a number to and so it seems scientific and all.
The tactics of mass murder in a building full of people are an interesting thing to think about, but I’ll skip this one in order to avoid a visit from one of Paul’s beloved 17 intelligence agencies.
I was just thinking, if you want to save kids’ lives, simply force the texting apps on phones to a)have the GPS turned on and b)turn themselves off if you are moving faster than a fast walk.

Of course, smaller magazines make more such opportunities to stop a mass shooter. And the flip side, law abiding people using a gun to defend themselves, won’t tell a tale when they run out after 10 rounds and 11 or 12 might have made the difference for them.

“There is no doubt that apparent concessions by North Korea are in response to punitive sanctions issued last fall and, more recently, to Trump’s tariffs. Trade negotiations between the U.S. and China are indeed about unfair economic practices on the part of Beijing, but they’re also about convincing China to rein in North Korea. Progress may indeed be happening, even if Kim’s announcement is simply meant to keep talks on track for the time being.
Kim surely hopes that some olive branches will do the trick without having to abandon his nuclear program entirely. But one thing we’re fairly confident of: Trump won’t be making any Obama-Iran deals. He won’t win a Nobel Peace Prize either.“

Boycotts are a legal expression of our speech, but, all in all, I just don’t like them as a general rule of thumb. Puts businesses who are in the business to make a profits in the smack dab in the middle of two warring factions and are forced to pick a side in a fight not of their choosing or making, generally. Banks folding like cheap suits as they bow to the anti gun forces. The squeaky wheel definitely gets the grease.
Glad there is one bank that is just saying “no”, albeit they have been so demonized, vilified, and beat down already, that I reckon they threw up their hands and figured what do they have to lose. No use getting on their good side of the Miserables.

Good point. There’s the semantic difference between ‘the case’ and ‘a case’.
You know, there probably is one shooting in 10,000 (or some other high number) where the time between round 10 and round 11, especially if the shooter fumbles, makes some small difference. Of course, it could be round 9 and 10, or round 20 and 21.
If someone really cared about mass shootings, rather than just furthering a more general set of politics, they’d probably look at the Ft. Hood shootings. Those always struck me as the sort of situations that are the most likely to occur, aside from the inevitable inner-city high school shootings of course.
