[I guess tonight belongs to Stormy.  We have the DVR on and it's recording the long-awaited '60 Minutes' interview which we will watch a bit later.  I presume everyone is preparing their pot shots.  Perhaps we'll even have a thoughtful perspective about what our country has now become with this latest widening the rift even more.  gjr]

The reaction of the β€œwomb to tomb” crowd over firings in most revealing. If you work in the public sector as, say, a public school, it’s darned near impossible to get fired and that is after the school district pays $100k or more to rid our children’s classrooms of the scourge.
This consternation by the Statists reveals it hits too close to home for them. It’s like firing public servants shakes their world view to the core. Or as the robot would say on the old TV series β€œLost in Space”, β€œIt does not compute.”

You’re fired. If you can’t do the job, then we will get somebody else. Results are all that matters, no matter how big the obstacles. Get someone in the VA that can get β€˜er done.
It’s a hard row to hoe for the new VA head honcho. First, the VA has more civilian employees by far than military personnel. The unions don’t want the VA to farm out its services or offer the vets much of a choice to get adequate healthcare. Adequate would be a huge improvement.

No excuses, no more speeches on the House floor. No more committees and hand wringing. Just do it. Figure it out.

For the po’ ol’ pollhead on this good Friday –
The 2016 exit-polls undercounted blue-collar white voters by almost 14 million and exaggerated the number of college-graduate voters by roughly 18 million, according to a report in the New York Times.

I’ve probably said this before, but it’s been obvious for years that politics is pivoting from an argument on economics (a Marxist view) to one on culture and ethnicity (more a nationalistic one). It wouldn’t surprise me if GeorgeR and I differ somewhat in what is really important currently, at least in terms of mass movements.
Green Libertarian Californians are absodamnlutely the last place to pick up on how the electorate is splitting. The local anti-trump trolls are something of a lunatic fringe that mostly lives in coastal enclaves.

scenes 1226pm – The attribution of Trump’s victory to also include educated whites is not surprising at all. Their vote was not for the apparent inexperienced lout, but was for the dismal future that Hillary’s victory would bring about. It was their ability to forecast based on their current readings that made the choice for Trump an easy one. I and many people like me are in that cohort.
Re your ‘pivoting politics point’, I would tend to agree on that culture and ethnicity are now the focus. It’s much easier to rale against someone who does not look like you and has different societal values than to expound on the fine points of policy impacts on the economy. Besides, the Left has given up on arguing that their (Marxist) approach to economics would lift all boats. Even the double dummies are beginning to see that this was never so and won’t be in the future.

I’d been wondering just how BS The Union polling software was…
the ban the Ar15 question had been posted for neary two weeks… up to over 19,000 votes to ban and something like 1700 against.
So I tried voting a couple times. It told me I couldn’t a second time… so I tried a different browser… and it let me. Finally figured out how, using any given browser, to make a vote, close the window and open a new one (private browsers), type t and then return (would launch theunion.com) and then vote again. Rinse, repeat. Got it down to just a couple keystrokes to close the tab, open the tab, and launch a new theunion.com experience.
Hmm, it started getting old but finally got it up to where the percentage went from 8/92 to9/91 in percentiles… and the YES vote started rising! Fast! Faster than I could do flail… but not ten times as fast. Maybe four or five votes per vote I could get in.
Finally, the poll was deactivated. The Union shut it down. It’s closed. Final vote is 20,166 votes for, 2,080 against banning AR-15 style guns.
Thinking… I’d not be surprised there was just one or two guys stuffing that ballot box with YES votes… sitting in The Union. An inside job.

    1) Milo said politics is downstream of culture. Think he stole that from Ayn Rand and many others. Our skinhead Lefties had to replace the Marxist Shangra-La ideal after getting off Fantasy Island with a big hangover and replaced it with culture…..their culture is black and white. Identity Politics and they identity me as bad and the source of all their in life. They be the lighted ones. They certainly reek of self pity.
    2) OMG, now the newshogg is attacking the Left’s Sacred Cow. Mercy.

The ballot stuffer, possibly sitting inside The Union, is continuing… 20,570 at 3:30 another 361 votes in about a half hour. Ten votes a minute.

He’ll still get his retirement bennies, Don… just not the cherry benefits at age 50. He’ll have to wait until the ripe old age of 60 or so.
I also heard someone claiming he’s no pauper, with $18 million in the bank. Don’t know how real that is, if it’s from deals he’s made, wife made, inheritances.
    He’ll survive.

“Milo said politics is downstream of culture.”
Huh. I like that. Obviously culture is a form of politics in that it implies numerous rules for living. In it’s absence, you have to invent and enforce an awful lot of stuff I think.
