Paul, the poll that counted in Nov 2016 had Trump at 46.1, which is just about where he is now. It was also about where Obama was after his first year in office.
What he had at the time of his inauguration was the normal goodwill where folks who didn’t hate the winner but voted for someone else, or didn’t vote at all, decide the winner is the President and deserve their place.
What happened this time was the constant drumbeat of DNC house organs chanting Russia Russia. MSNBC hosts looking at the camera and stating there was a candidate under FBI investigation at the time of the election and it wasn’t Hillary Clinton. We now know that was not the case, but the damage was done.
Unfortunately, Paul, you are such a mathematical nothing, it’s pretty impossible to talk about statistics with you in a meaningful way. Trump is where he was on election day. Yes, the drumbeat of attack poodles in the press have wounded his standing, as have his, ahem, unconventional ways of communicating in twits. We have not had a president without political experience (national, state or local) who talks like a real estate developer from Queens because he is a real estate developer from Queens.
Nothing succeeds like success and nothing fails like failure. Trump has unwound much of the Obama presidency and fulfilled many of his campaign promises. The Main Street economy is roaring, the stock market is booming. Regulations continue to be peeled back and it appears profits from multinationals that have been stuck overseas are being repatriated for domestic spending and investment.
Trump haters, rejoice! Maybe the economy can be derailed if you try hard enough and if that’s what you really want.

All you look at is the Rasmussen polls and “about where he is to day” as you put it is meaningless. the consensus polls show his at -17 or so and before the election he was -2 which is about what he lost the popular vote by. you can’t put a lipstick on that pig with any credibility because you are only looking at one poll The consensus poll tells the story you don’t want to hear and that story is that Trump has historic lows after his first year.

-17 is meaningless, Paul. Compared to what? The “consensus poll” (meaning the Rassmussen Approval Index?) is a measure of how many more really hate the President vs really like the President. An interesting number… but how many approve as a whole is what would decide an election if held that day.
-2 is meaningless. Compared to what? Yes, before the Russia crap was flung into the fan, there was less hate and more support from the GOP.
He won the electoral vote at a 46.1% of votes cast. He’s right about there now, before a resolution of the Mueller investigation, before the tax overhaul has a chance to do anything, before the lessened regulatory burden has a chance to work.
It might not but your incessant cheerleading for failure is not going to hurry anything along. Give it a rest.

Today, Trump’s approval is 45%, meaning 55% disapproval/meh! So is that a -10 by your interpretation?
Trump got 46.1% of the popular vote, meaning about 54% voted NOT for Trump, including me. Does that mean he was -8… or does it mean he was -2, the gap between him and the DP candidate?

I choose to not play with the numbers to torture out a different answer. It’s about 45% approval today, by Rasmussen’s methodology, their decision about Likely Voters vs. Anyone who is willing to answer their questions when they call them on the phone. The number is an approximation and I am satisfied any error is unintentional.
I’d put me in the meh! category… except I believe 100% that he is legally the President by the Constitution and find the continual effort by Snowflake-Americans to perform a coup d’etat do-over to be the most odious of any post election grieving I’ve witnessed.

Finally, there is one judge in CA that has returned sanity to the courtroom. Not only did the judge reject the defense motion that the accused was not competent to stand trial, the judge also rejected the insanity defense.
The illegal alien is more than competent to stand trial. In a usual move, the defense attorney told the judge that his illegal alien client indeed murdered two LE officers in cold blood as well as wounding others.
Guess the only question is to send him to prison to be with his own kind or to sent him back to the Sanctuary City (River City) to be with his own kind. Decisions, decisions.
