Punch….any comment why you still carried the water for Hillary here (constant delivery of poll results (specifically to Gregory in person) , unrestrained demonstrations of glee by you about her probable coronation, etc.) after her “deplorables” comment?
I mean if decorum is so important to you in the at the time likely presidential victor, I would have thought that a comment regarding her statement would have been forthcoming.

OK, change of pace.
Advancements in helicopters have come a long way. No wonder they snuck up on Osama B. A real quiet helicopter came near by last night. It made as much noise as my ceiling fan on high.
Never heard the thing coming. No telling what the make was.
Just a “WTF,, was that?” and it was gone.
The advancing blade noise is a thing of the past.

Walt 506pm – The classified versions were already operational in the early 90s. I was on a Mojave camping trip when what could only have been a silent helo came within a 100 yds or so and hovered for the better part of a minute checking us out before departing at high speed. They are now being used regularly for surreptitious surveillance and insertion after having their classification level reduced.

Scenes 800pm – Yes, the USSR took half of Finnish Karelia and their corridor to the Arctic Ocean as a result of Finns fighting the communist who attacked them in 1939 (the Winter War). The Finns resisting the USSR put them on the side of Germany after Hitler double-crossed Stalin in June 1941. The Allies therefore stood by and let Stalin grab some strategic high ground from the Finns at the war’s conclusion.

Interesting (to me) article pulled off Drudge about not extending the presumption of innocence, #MeToo, journalism, free speech, and McCarthyism. Kinda long, but 2nd link is shorter.
My thoughts: Maybe the real target is not the growing list of of what constitutes sexual harassment, or the punishment not always fitting the crime. Perhaps the real target to be slayed is patriarchy. I think so.

I really doubt that he has a thought out position at all, aside from some sort of vague notion that a late 19C. burst of immigration into the US means that oppressed people of color worldwide get to move where they like.
It wouldn’t surprise that there are some (D) party intellectuals, such as they are, who look at this as a voters number game, but I’ll bet that this wave of pathological altruism has a variety of causes.
. Like any sane and fairly tightly-knit people, Mexicans and Mexican-Americans want, well, more Mexicans to move to the US. Hey, it’s nicer here, so no surprises. That’ll be true for other national groups who self-organize one here.
. Judging from interviews and pictures, there’s a whole bunch of women and low-T males with signs who just love them their refugees. The reasoning here might require a bit of work in the psychology of mating strategies, etc.
. There’s a certain amount of baton passing going on. Some countries have been instrumental in pushing people through to somewhere else.
. I don’t doubt that the Middle Eastern refugees have been weaponized to a certain extent. Stir the ant nest up and watch the hilarity.
. Oddly, there’s been a fair amount of Jewish groups and individual activists in Europe pushing for mass infusion of vibrant diversity. I just mention it because step 2 in that situation will likely be they’ll feel the need to get out of Dodge. Whether they just like the abuse or were planning on moving to Israel anyway I couldn’t tell you.
. Just because. End of the world cults, the price of tulips, groups of flagellants, sometimes groups of people act in non-rational and sometimes destructive behaviors. It’s the nature of the beast.
. Immigration (both legal and illegal) as a business. Human smugglers in the American Southwest or those church groups that deal in wholesale immigration. Once the organization is put together, it’ll tend to run on it’s own.

Scenes 835am – Agreed. It is of keen interest to me because Estonians crossed the gulf by the thousands to help our Finnish brothers fight Stalin (because we would be next, and the returned survivors from that campaign were hunted as criminals). It was a complex place to practice statecraft as a tiny country between two warring giants, both intending to conquer you, and one finally did.

Boy. When Trump first threw his MAGA hat into the ring, I figured that if he got 3-4% of the black vote, that alone would double what should be expected. But, I was quickly mistaken.
While sitting in the living room of a nice black 2nd wave feminist author and watching her TV, I got the surprise of my life. This was a few weeks before the first primary debate.
Trump was talking about building a yuge wall, kicking out criminal aliens, and making the streets safer for the black mothers trapped in gang infested, crime ridden, unsafe neighborhoods, worried for their kids’ safety just walking to school. His solution was to hire more cops, nor neuter them! More cops.
My friend looked at the TV, I looked at her, and in a rapturous voice rising to the Heavens, she exclaimed “ Finally! Finally somebody is saying it!” About that time Diamonds and Silk started their Youtube videos saying stuff like, “Don’t let anyone take your microphone, Mr. Trump. It’s yours, you paid for it, and punch anyone who tries to take it from you. Beat them down like the rabid dogs they are.” Guess Trump got better than expected black support when all was said and done. Not surprised.
