[Wow, the last one really filled up.  Here's some fresh sand to reignite a closer examination of the ongoing polls that portend so much about President Trump.  To that we can add the fascinating new cause celebre of diagnosing the man's mental health.  I personally appreciate readers' updates on local fire news.  Thanks.  gjr]

    George asks
“From whence does public opinion originate”
All you hasve to do iw watch the man on TV and look at his record to see evidence enough to question the mans personality, competence, honesty, mental health and character. I mean the guy is a real piece of work and does not wear well with repeated exposure. He is steady being cut loose from even his Republican colleges because of the awful things he says about them personally. Look at what he said about McCain’s war record for example.
“He’s not a war hero,” Trump, a Republican running for president, said of McCain. “I like people that weren’t captured. “He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren’t captured.”

If no human exists at conception then there must be a time between conception and birth that what started as a zygote becomes a human. When, specifically, is that time?
I assure you that I do not intend this question to be rhetorical and I would very much appreciate a relevant answer. Thank you.

Paul at 8:32 – “Before I answer “does abortion damage a human?” we have to discuss what a hunman is.”
Funny thing about that is that when Paul was talking about Trump, he didn’t seem to have any problem knowing what a human is.
I ask a simple yes or no question of Paul and he can’t do it. Instead, he starts off by virtue signalling with bumper-sticker nonsense and then goes off on his usual evasion tactic of asking me a question.
Since Paul can’t/won’t answer – I will. It’s simple. Of course it does. Now you can still be for or against abortion on demand, but let’s stop this silly nonsense of picturing Trump as evil because you don’t like his politics. I would love for Paul to name a single POTUS that didn’t ‘harm humans’.
Still waiting for those photos from Paul showing previous first ladies in the mud at disaster sites.

Oh JoKe….maybe it’s seeing things like this that causes LA cops to grow jaded……

    Joe Koyote says:

I came from a small very racially mixed farming town in central CA. I had two high school friends, brothers, who were racially unbiased, something acquired via sports. One of them even lived with another friend, who was black, for a couple of years while attending college. The brothers, first one then the other, later moved to LA and joined the LAPD. Their view on race changed almost overnight. They became bigots of the first order. There was, and still is, something wrong with the culture of LAPD.

George 10:30 — “Do any of these attributes resemble those drilled into the population day and night by the lamestream and the entertainment media?”
No George! These impressions come from people evaluating events and the statements, actions, etc. of Donald Trump and his associates as they occur. To say these attributes are “drilled” into the public via the media is to ignore that attributes to the opposite that are drilled into your own head via your own sources. You cannot naively dismiss factual evidence as “fake news” or a “witch hunt” forever, or maybe you can. Maybe it becomes more comfortable for a person just to ignore reality when it contradicts what they want to hear. History tells us that is a grave mistake.

Congrats for drying out since your own young and stupid daze, but anyone who can blow a .22% in their 50’s IS a problem drinker.
Supervisor Hall might even be drinking before County meetings in the AM… perhaps someone should also describe the serving of booze at the event she was attending, the Nevada County Democrats Annual Gala, 5 to 10PM. Do they share blame? Does anyone think they served her enough ethanol to bring her from sober as a judge ought to be to .22%? Or did she drive there well over the legal limit already, and the Nevada County Democrats served her despite already being drunk? Or is she so used to drinking her own people didn’t have a clue?
Here’s what she wrote in apology:
“I do not condone drinking and driving and take the issue seriously… I used bad judgement last night when I thought it was safe for me to drive. I apologize to all the people I have disappointed. This won’t happen again.”
At the time she knew she’d blown a 0.22%, but her audience did not. She probably also had an idea she was over the legal limit driving to the event. She also didn’t claim to think she was safe AND LEGAL to drive… just that she thought she could do it without bending metal or breaking bones or spilling blood. At least only metal got bent.
This should be a Betty Ford Institute for Sobering Up moment. Supervisor Hall, you have a problem, as do the “Nevada County Democrats”.

Forgive me for this excess… Joe Koyote (nee’ Professor Joe Keeble) at Pelline’s mansplainin’ why Todd doesn’t hold college education in high regard:

It’s because this community has been very conservative for many decades and therefore follows the pattern found in the deep south and now the rust belt. The disdain is part of the long range plan to divide the country and discredit those who use science and reason rather than ideology to make decisions. The hard core corporate capitalists who make their money pillaging the countryside do not want to hear about climate change, pollution, wealth inequality, environmental justice, etc. and people with educations research these things, more often than not, out of a sense of obligation to humanity rather than profit. Those same corporatists don’t want an electorate who uses reason either. So, you dumb down the populace by dissing on education and teachers for decades. Call facts you disagree with fake while generating fake facts of your own and when your targeted segment of the population can’t tell the difference they will buy into whatever you tell them, no matter how outlandish. Finally, wave your magic sickle, say abracadabra four times and you get donald trump as president and the decades of environmental, health, civil rights, and other forms of social progress gained via legislation gets tossed out the window in less than a year. If people thought the financial ruin of the Bush II round of de-regulation was bad, just wait until this round comes home to roost

Someone needs a nap, not to mention a real education. JoKe, you didn’t get an education, you got a political indoctrination where dogma like climate change, pollution (including that byproduct of life, CO2, that has been reclassified as a pollutant), wealth inequality and social justice are accepted and heretics are sought out and pummeled. At least before the Black Bloc/Antifa thugs emerged, the pummeling was with words, not clubs.

Gregory I saw that and laughed my ass off. I think people with college degrees/educations have their place but it is not the on;y place. If JoKe is a example of a college educated man then he makes me look like a PHD. I engage in conversations with many types of people. When the college types talk to me like JoKe I ask them OK, who fixes your car? Or inclogs your crapper? Or built your house? You get the drift. The JoKe elitists could care less about the regular folks and that is why Trump won. The regular folks turned out. The college folks did not. Who is smarter now?
I respect people that make the effort of college and then use it top do good for the country. I have no use for JoKe types who have such a low opinion of their fellow countrymen. And his point about corporations. Seems to me he has it backwards. The CEO’s and upper echelons are usuall college types so making the point od dumbing down rests on their shoulders. Not the poor dumb slobs who juyst want the kids to get a decent education.

I do believe you conveniently skipped over the point that your own politicians, advertisers, and media people vehemently disagree with you. Your saying simply “No George” doesn’t make it so, but continuing to write an avalanche of checks for measurable results does make it so. (Note to the intelligent reader: Mr Cross is among those legions of terminally enraged progressives who have no clue as to why Hillary Clinton spent a billion dollars on media advertising her campaign. People who deny the reason for it are either butt stupid or must claim that Hillary was butt stupid.)

To that point though. Trump was a master at using the media’s ego for his own gain. He spent a half or third of Shillary and won. But it was still 345 million bucks. And mostly his own money which the left was not going to give him credit for. They constantly decry “special interest” money and cite Citizens United as a bugaboo yet Trump proved all that was crap talk by the left.

Gregory, you keep on hitting the most relevant points. Some antidotal stories to say what you said in a different way.
    1) Knew a guy who did 20 years in the AF. After he put the plug in the jug, he always wondered how many times he could have been pulled over and charged with a DUI while driving TO work in the morning. That was after he slept it off the previous night for a few hours.
    2) Knew a now decreased chemist that ran the lab for some major companies throughout his career. Only but one or two in the entire lab caught on to his ‘problem’. He told me he would take his red wine, but it in a beaker and label it with some chemical name so nobody would touch it or need it. Some of his most embarrassing moments were times that lab technicians stood behind him patiently waiting for him to open the safe for needed formulas or compounds as he struggled because he would plumb forget the combination and he was only one authorized to have the combo! Or coming to work and plowing his car into the side of the building and getting out amidst the startled co-workers and start cussing about those damn breaks in the new company car….and everyone believed him cause he was their boss, Darn brakes! Get me another car.
The point of that story is it’s easy enough to hide alcohol/drinking from others, even spouses. Pour vodka or gin in a water bottle or water glass. Make it look ice water or pour stuff the dark hard stuff in a Pepsi bottle or whatever. Decline a glass of wine when offered with others hanging around….but keep that water glass close, it not ever present in your hand. Munch on some mint leaves or suck on breathe mints.
Had a buddy that would take a syringe of the distilled spirits and shoot it into oranges. His lunch box always was full of oranges. Boy, did he love eating oranges.
I could go on and on, but I shall refrain.
.22? And a breathalyzer is more accurate than a blood test for BAC…..they said…back in another time and space.

. I remember once Jimmy Carter showed up to help with building a Habitat for Humanity house. He walked over, someone gave him a hammer, and smiled forvthe camera. . He left immediately following. Forget how many OSHOA violations were pointed out by that pic. No brain bucket, no safety googles, no gloves…….but he looked like he rolled up his sleeves and went to work. Think Bubba did the same photo op at a Habitat for Humanity house. Same results. What is it that make politicans despise hard hats?? Hmmm. Maybe it is the Dukakis Effect. It said they were responsible for attacks on police, conservative, symbols of capitalism etc. When asked about the report the reply was that it was not supposed to be released publicly, ya in the 0 admin it was hushed up and 0 focused on conservatives, especially gun owners as domestic terrorists.
