[I had no idea that the discussion of Trump’s presidency and its survival could be elevated to the enviable level of an unending ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, ‘Yes he is …’, ‘No he isn’t …’, without any perceptible loss of interest by the discussants. Nevertheless, on the off chance that someone wants to introduce a new topic thread, here’s some fresh sand. However, any such forays into new issues are not required, especially for those convinced that other readers are hanging on every clever word in their repartees 😉 gjr]

The jumping Rastafarian frogs of Calaveras County
One of the targeted farms, where more than 6,000 plants were seized, is affiliated with the same Rastafarian Church linked to a Yuba County pot farm that on Tuesday was the scene of a police shootout. A farmworker there shot two deputies after running into a nearby home and later was found dead inside.
The Calaveras County sheriff’s office made five arrests without incident at the farm in Heiser Canyon on Wednesday, DiBasilio said. The Calaveras farm was targeted before Tuesday’s shooting.
Heidi Lepp, the leader of Sugarleaf Rastafarian Church, said the Heiser Canyon farm is part of her network of churches, which use marijuana as their sacrament. She claims the farms that grow pot for the church have a religious exemption allowing such cultivation, but state law does not provide such exceptions.
DiBasilio said the Heiser Canyon farm was an illegal grow. Medical marijuana has been legal in California for two decades and he said last year the farm tried to get a license to allow it to grow pot but was turned down.
DiBasilio said Lepp called the sheriff’s office on Wednesday and said the farm was affiliated with her church and could not be raided. The workers arrested at the farm said they did not know who they were working for, he said.
Lepp’s husband, Charles Lepp, said they have no ownership of the property.

This will surely warm the heart of the Putin cuddlers that reside on this blog.
” “I have had it,” Trump said. “I have been making these calls all day, and this is the most unpleasant call all day.”
“Putin was a pleasant call,” Trump said later in the conversation. “This is ridiculous.”
Quotes from the conversation Trump had with Australian PM Malcolm Turnbull.
Just thought I’d share.

Thanks, great call. Since Putin has a huge number of ICBM’s and nukes it seems to me we need a good relationship with him and his country. What do you say, Paul Emery?
Sadly thought the call was hacked by a “deep state scumbag” to try and undermine Trump. But it has backfired and made Trump a hero.

As witnessed in these pages, some prominent liberal commenters still contest Trump’s use of third-party purloined and published Democrat emails outing their operating perfidy in last year’s election. However, today their outrage seems to be well controlled when enthusiastically citing the clearly feloniously acquired and released transcripts of calls between our president and world leaders. The rest of us have come to know this as the ‘self-consistent’ and satisfying world in which progressives enjoy their succor and comfort.

Admittedly, one difference is that the DNC leaks are by some unknown hackers or by the GRU (which I strongly suspect you had never even heard of before the current cold civil war). The Trump leaks are from active duty intelligence officers and some currently employed moles from the Obama administration.
No difference here, nothing to be seen. lol.

PaulE 1002am – The relevance of your response goes begging since the two ‘leaks’ could not be more different in every dimension. For openers, the illegal release of the Trump transcripts served to reveal NO “deception and lying from our elected officials”, nor anything else that would be profitably used by the electorate of a sovereign nation-state conducting its foreign affairs in prudent confidence. However, the release by a criminal mole has now alerted foreign heads of state that they can no longer have confidential discussions with a US President. It appears that recognizing this damage to national security and facile international relations is a nuance lost on the people you so ably represent in these pages.

The transcripts did reveal that Trump was lying to the American people about the importance of building a wall. Here’s from the transcripts
“President Trump told Mexico’s president that a proposed border wall between the two countries was “the least important thing we are talking about,” according to a transcript of the January call published by the Washington Post on Thursday.
“We’re building the wall,” Trump said in February. “In fact it’s going to start very soon.”
During the call with Peña Nieto, held just a week after Trump took office, the new president told the Mexican leader to stop saying Mexico would never pay for the wall.
The wall had been a signature issue for the Trump campaign which insisted that Mexico would pay for it.

George, Paul thinks the leaked DNC emails shouldn’t be repeated ’cause it’s wrong to steal. It’s part of the Russian collusion story he can’t let go of. And yes, the only reason for leaking transcripts of Trump’s confidential calls to other leaders is to embarrass Trump and make it more difficult for him to speak with anybody off the record.
Sad!

PaulE 1053am – “the least important thing we are talking about” is all you can do??! That is the most lame stretch I’ve seen from you to buttress one of your assertions. Anyone with an ounce of logic sees that this statement could be entirely true in the context of the importance of other topics discussed, and that without diminishing anything from our intent to reduce border porosity (which project has already started). Amazing!

Trump asked the Mexico President to lie to the press to save his butt. That an indisputable fact. Trump promised to the American people that Mexico would pay for the wall. Mexico said no-never.
“President Trump made building a wall along the southern U.S. border and forcing Mexico to pay for it core pledges of his campaign.
But in his first White House call with Mexico’s president, Trump described his vow to charge Mexico as a growing political problem, pressuring the Mexican leader to stop saying publicly that his government would never pay.
“You cannot say that to the press,” Trump said repeatedly, according to a transcript of the Jan. 27 call obtained by The Washington Post. Trump made clear that he realized the funding would have to come from other sources but threatened to cut off contact if Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto continued to make defiant statements.
The funding “will work out in the formula somehow,” Trump said, adding later that “it will come out in the wash, and that is okay.” But “if you are going to say that Mexico is not going to pay for the wall, then I do not want to meet with you guys anymore because I cannot live with that.”

Yes, the innumerate are likely to drop a couple of zeros when they are in a rush. I was in a rush when I read it and it still looked wrong right off the bat. As did “I meant it to be 3.10 of 1%” when you apparently meant 3/10ths of 1%.
Not .003%… but I get it… that just means “tiny” to you.
Funny, but 0.03% is the tiny percentage of CO2 in the atmosphere in the late 19th century, which has skyrocketed an additional 0.01% in the century since then.

The truth is that Trump could stand on his two hind legs and read the telephone book out loud and these guys would be outraged. There’s scarcely any point in the argument.
It isn’t like anyone here has had their everyday life change much, aside from the current stock market bubble perhaps.
The cold civil war is basically a religious conflict, and Trump is quite adept at poking the Green Libertarian catechism. Policy issues like healthcare will muddle along, it was a mess before and will likely be a mess afterwards.
But, when you believe that Christianity is bad and inferior to other religions, Western Civilization is evil, and that people worldwide should move into the First World to atone for our sins…and Team Trump appears to believe the opposite…there’s really no place for compromise. Just look how upset some commenters are at the mere concept that the numbers of immigrants is either reduced or subjected to QA. The emotional reaction shows a strong belief system that should be taken seriously.

PaulE 1111am – and what is wrong for Trump to ask Nieto to cooperate in coming to a rapprochement on how the ‘wall’ will be funded? People with a 3-digit IQ knew last year that payment for the wall would be a complex affair with a lot of politically motivated definitions in play of what amounts/credits from whom to whom would be transfered under what conditions – after all, everybody would have to save face. Only the densest of the dense interpreted Trump to expect a check from Mexico for the full amount when the wall was completed. But then again, that is how the progressive elites judge their constituents to be, and that is the message they have been pounding into the heads of their snuffies ever since.

He did largely pull of out out of Iraq according to the Bush timetable Fish. I believe Bush set the withdrawal date to be 2011. This is pretty good documentation for that statement.
“Iraq and U.S. agree that all U.S. forces will withdraw “no later than December 31, 2011.” On November 17, 2008, US and Iraqi officials signed a Security Agreement, often referred to as a Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA), stating that “All the United States Forces shall withdraw from all Iraqi territory no later than December 31, 2011.” The agreement also called for all U.S. combat forces to withdraw from Iraqi cities “no later than June 30, 2009.” [U.S.-Iraq Status of Forces Agreement, 11/17/08]”
