[Ah yes, the filibuster debates are again in season. Republicans are being admonished by the eternally innocent progressives about messing with the filibuster, as if that were a tradition brought down on the tablets and one that has remained unblemished since then. It would be utterly unconsciounable to bring up the recent history of who exercised the 'nuclear option' and under what conditions they pulled the trigger. In the meanwhile, we are on our way home and thank RR readers for keeping the sandboxes exercised and the comment candles burning. gjr]

….Pelosi seemed absolutely fearful to me. Afraid she was losing relevancy, afraid she was losing a grip on the body politic.
That must have been glorious to see….senile old dingbat!!

Scenes: Yep, not one Russian story today, except about Putin kicking out a bunch of our diplomats, Comey’s boytoy lawyer being a big time leaker, the DNC paying big bucks for the Golden Shower authors, and Junior meeting with that Russian gal, who also got money from the Dems. Besides that, no Russian-Trump connection today.
So, whose afraid of the big bad wolf…… beside brain tumor McCain and our own Green Libertarian fakenews squawker? Get a brain tumor or get drunk enough, I would be howling at the moon as well.

Real Newsflash–
The Russian Mafia and the Trump family.. peas in a pod. Are these really the people American’s want in charge of the till? Apparently not according the the former Director of the Government Office of Ethics who said, “His (Trump’s) actions create the appearance of profiting from the presidency” and called Trump an “embarrassment.” Walter Shaub, the former GOE Director who resigned last month in disgust, went on to state, ““The fact that we’re having to ask questions about whether he’s intentionally using the presidency for profit is bad enough because the appearance itself undermines confidence in government.”
He added: “It certainly risks people starting to refer to us as a kleptocracy. That’s a term people throw around fairly freely when they’re talking about Russia, fairly or unfairly, and we run the risk of getting branded the same way. America really should stand for more than that.”

I suppose it depends what ‘socially xxxx’ means. My guess is that they throw a standard curve over the population in terms of some question, put a line in the middle, and then are flat amazed that half of them are above and half below.
It’s kind of a good question. Does ‘socially liberal’ mean that gay marriage is recognized? or that you can put someone out of business for not selling a cake for a gay marriage? or that a man with a wig must be considered a female in the Marine Corps? Lotta axes on the chart.

Truth,,,”But we conservatives mocked Barack Obama’s failure to deliver on his pledge to change the tone in Washington even as we worked to assist with that failure. It was we conservatives who, upon Obama’s election, stated that our No. 1 priority was not advancing a conservative policy agenda but making Obama a one-term president—the corollary to this binary thinking being that his failure would be our success and the fortunes of the citizenry would presumably be sorted out in the meantime. It was we conservatives who were largely silent when the most egregious and sustained attacks on Obama’s legitimacy were leveled by marginal figures who would later be embraced and legitimized by far too many of us. It was we conservatives who rightly and robustly asserted our constitutional prerogatives as a co-equal branch of government when a Democrat was in the White House but who, despite solemn vows to do the same in the event of a Trump presidency, have maintained an unnerving silence as instability has ensued.” Conservative Senator Jeff Flake

While you can argue that Arizona simply needs to find a new Congressman as he seems to have been co-opted by the Borg, you have to give the Republicans some credit in that they don’t have an ex-President actively conspiring against the current one, didn’t aim the intelligence services at the competing party while in power, and didn’t unleash street violence for political advantage.
I can’t say that sitting Republicans are too different than the swamp they live in, but they appear to have a modicum more decency than their supposed competitors.

“Meanwhile, the strange specter of an American president’s seeming affection for strongmen and authoritarians created such a cognitive dissonance among my generation of conservatives—who had come of age under existential threat from the Soviet Union—that it was almost impossible to believe. Even as our own government was documenting a concerted attack against our democratic processes by an enemy foreign power, our own White House was rejecting the authority of its own intelligence agencies, disclaiming their findings as a Democratic ruse and a hoax. Conduct that would have had conservatives up in arms had it been exhibited by our political opponents now had us dumbstruck.” Jeffery Flake

According to the left wing blogs, Left wing sites, Alt-Left sites, and Media Matters, the arrest of the Pakastanian conman who had access to a whole bunch of Dem Congresspersons’ computers had nothing to do with Debbie Whatzername, the DNC, hacking, murder, or The Clintons. It’s all about bank fraud, nothing else. Just a bunch of fakenews conspiracy theories perpetrated by the fringe Great Right Wing Conspiratorial Fakenews peddalers. Nothing to see here. There is no there there.

Bank fraud? It’s easy enough to tell. Just pressure those people with serious jail time and ask for some names. Of course, you need investigators who aren’t firmly in the pocket of the Clintons & Friends, so that isn’t going to happen.
