Hey GeorgeR I have been doing a back and forth with a fellow on the Union websites comments. Here is his latest. And how would you answer him?
“Stephen Holland · Works at Self Employed Freelance Musician
Toddd, I define socialism in the case of SS, or Medicare, or public education as systems that help all people, and that we all pay into. SS is indeed a form of democratic socialism (it was opposed by Republicans in Congress at the time for being just that.) SS taxes are paid into by all workers, and all workers receive benefits. Many workers pay much more in SS taxes than they receive in benefits, and others pay much less, but receive more, though not by much. Infrastructure is also paid with taxes and is a public good, a social good. Democratic socialism at work. This is not Marxist-Leninism, there is a profound diference. No one forces us to adopt this system except in the voting booth. And yes, I went to public schools, but I don’t think I was terribly harmed by the experience. I will not denigrate you, your intelligence, or your educational background. I think we’ve said enough on this issue. I think Robert Bee is miguided, and I don’t agree with you either, but it’s a free country and we can agree to disagree.”

Wealth transfer at the point of the govt gun, pure and simple.
And it’s going broke, but socialists don’t care.
Medicare? The cost has already skyrocked well beyond what was predicted by it’s backers. In the coming years its cost will beggar our govt.
“And yes, I went to public schools, but I don’t think I was terribly harmed by the experience.”
Wow- considering the enormous cost of that, you would think something better than not being harmed would be the outcome. Since Holland hasn’t bothered to educate himself of the latest outcomes of the govt school system, he might want to realize the great harm to our kids that is being done.
“No one forces us to adopt this system except in the voting booth.”
Ah yes – good ol democracy. Wherein the majority decide to have the govt take money from the minority and gift themselves the proceeds.
I seem to recall the voters in California deciding (in the voting booth) that there were times they didn’t want their money taken at gun point to be given to criminals. And the left suddenly decided democracy was bad. Funny how democracy is only good when the left likes it.
Infrastructure is supposed to be paid for by everyone and to be used by everyone. As soon as infrastructure becomes a financial nightmare such as Brown’s choo choo train (sold to the public on a pack of out right lies) that needs money from everyone in the country and only a relative handful of folks will ever use, then its not a beneficial public work.
Democratic socialism, however you want to dress it up, works great until you run out of other people’s money. Ask Illinois.

There we go – we want to push the granny in the wheel chair off the cliff.
So much for an adult discussion.
A society needs a certain amount of real value to be generated in order to compensate for all of the promises made to future generations.
You can’t generate value by printing money or just taking from the haves forever. We are broke. We are living on a bunch of credit cards and paying off a little of what we owe with new credit cards.
It will end up like Venezuela. People will starve. People will die from lack of health care. It will not be pretty. Just because you might die before it happens doesn’t absolve you from the blame for causing it by writing bad checks that won’t be cashed until you’re gone.
Why is it that people think America is magical and we don’t have to learn from history?

One side wants blanket coverage for everything under the sun and the other wants to take the blanket away. You seem to think that charity and the so-called free market will make up the shortfall since they don’t have to pay taxes.
Seems to me neither side is working out too well. Chuck Durrett wants to build shelters that he claims he will do without govt. $$$, but he can’t get the county to even free up a vacant lot to put them on.
Meanwhile the homeless population grows and ratchets up the fire danger in the driest part of the year. I remember the 49er fire. How much did that cost?

rlcrabb 1233pm – Bob, you again skittle back into the binary consciousness of the Left – it’s either all this, or all of the opposite that. No one on the Right has ever wanted “to take the blanket away.” That conceptual paradigm is only something that gives you and yours a simplistic comfort. And I believe that you don’t need that kind of black/white ontology to interpret the world around you. In these pages we know (but apparently you don’t) that we must somehow learn better ways to distribute wealth to those who can’t generate enough on their own, ways that don’t stifle the wealth creators so that we all wind up in a destitute dictatorship of which there are so many examples today. Your anecdote about shelters serves only to underline how far down the path to politically correct control we have come.

There will ALWAYS be people homeless. There will always be poor people.
You can’t help those who really don’t want it. Yet there will always be those who demand those who do better them to fork over something. “It’s only fair.”. Sorry,, life isn’t fair.
So tell me RL, I worked my ass off to have what I do, so why in hell should I help those who refuse to help themselves? It’s always someone else’s fault they didn’t get anywhere.
Yet now they want the government to “redistribute” said wealth. ” I want some of their money! Take it, and give it to us.” Pick your excuse.

Something to think about RL,, the number ONE thing that drives up the cost of anything and everything, is gov. regulations and ever increasing taxation.
Even YOU put that to ink and paper. Recall the drawing you made inspired by me? ” A permit required to replace one damned board”. ( you drew it as a broken step) And how that mandated permit allows the “inspector” to raid your home in search of other out of code violations. Who dreams up these now legal “invasions”? Progressives who live to right laws.

So the Dems are running Kali and we have lavish freebies for the homeless and yet Bob notices that we have an ever increasing homeless population.
Hey – I’ve got it! Lets do more of the same and keep giving more and more to the homeless!
First of all, I don’t think Cal Fire is going to sit on its ass next time a fire breaks out down in the canyon in the dry winds of Sept. They’ve learned to throw everything, immediately, at fires now.
We shouldn’t criminalize homelessness but if a person wants stuff from society, then society should help them earn the stuff they want.
It’s not a kindness to let people wallow in mental illness and addiction, but our courts have decreed that govt can not force treatment on anybody unless they are presenting a clear danger to themselves or others. I understand the the danger of a govt that can force treatment on anybody they want (USSR) but that same person can’t turn around and demand goodies from everyone else.
Look – I would never raise a child that would not want to be a productive member of society. Why am I a bad person for expecting all members of society to have the same ethic?

I’m sharing with you this assessment of Trump from Republican Jason Chafettz, Chairman of the Powerfull House Oversight Committee. Expect the usual fake news etc response from the usual suspects whom I no longer correspond with. Predictable and boring.
“Jason Chaffetz: Trump is ‘almost worse’ than Obama — and Jeff Sessions is ‘worse’ than Loretta Lynch
Outgoing Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) lashed out at the Trump administration recently for being “worse” than the Obama administration when it comes to transparency.
In an interview with Sinclair broadcasting’s Sharyl Attkisson that aired on Sunday, the House Oversight Committee Chairman who spent millions crusading against Hillary Clinton explained why he was not hopeful about the government under President Donald Trump.
“The reality is, sadly, I don’t see much difference between the Trump administration and the Obama administration,” Chaffetz told the conservative host. “I thought there would be this, these floodgates would open up with all the documents we wanted from the Department of State, the Department of Justice, the Pentagon.”
“In many ways, it’s almost worse because we’re getting nothing, and that’s terribly frustrating and, with all due respect, the attorney general has not changed at all,” he added. “I find him to be worse than what I saw with Loretta Lynch in terms of releasing documents and making things available. I just, that’s my experience, and that’s not what I expected.”

CA’s single payer healthcare will be a monumental morass. Never mind about how it will be funded out of some of our pockets; the big issue will be delivery of services. We often forget that government employees consist mostly of hubristic nebbishes with a high sense of entitlement and also high levels of feedback-immune incompetence. These people obtain a sense of self-worth only through projecting absolute power through that little hole in the glass when it’s finally your turn to genuflect at their altar.

This is absolutely disgusting and sad.
A Republican official in Georgia believes his party will win Tuesday’s special election in the state’s 6th Congressional District thanks to last week’s attack on GOP congressmen at a baseball practice in Northern Virginia.
“I’ll tell you what: I think the shooting is going to win this election for us,” Brad Carver, the party chairman in Georgia’s 11th congressional district, said Saturday, according to The Washington Post.

Posted by: Paul Emery | 14 June 2017 at 09:55 AM
The modern “progressive” view of “gun violence” is any fatal shooting, mixing up all successful murders by bullet, suicide by bullet, accidental death by bullet, even a death by bullet fired in self defense or in the defense of others, added together into one measure of “gun violence”. Yes, dear friends, the tragedy here is the killing of the enraged berniebro who was hunting GOP congresscritters out of season and without a permit.

It’s their hand picked non-Establishment Golden Boy, their Great White Hope.and the dude still hadn’t moved into the district yet nor made an honest woman out of the squeeze he is shacking up with.
Boy, the Dems need to win something, anything to keep their hopes alive. They are starting to get a little Resistance fatigue too boot. They are still in denial about why Georgia went Red after taunting us with the confidence that Trump is such a terrible candidate that Hillary was up and going to take Georgia. How did that work out?
Yep, the assasian who shot at Republicans really made those with TDS look bad. He was a political assasian, plain and simple. Nope, it was 100% pure political and we know the motive: Political Assisianation. An early October Surprise, if you will.
Geee, everything the Liberals do just keeps blowing up in their faces. Never seen anything like it since the Chicago DNC love fest in 68.
Close race, Dems are all in on this one. Their hopes are soaring and they their arrogance is oozing from their pores. Paul, I’d be more interested in hearing your excuse for this, given your fine grained outrage shown at 1:21PM:
“Sad to say this is another example of the tragedy of gun violence in America. Will it ever end?”

That was your first reaction after the shooting? “Another example of the tragedy of gun violence in America”? As opposed to celebrating the thwarting of a planned multiple assassination of GOP congressmen by a deranged progressive at a baseball practice?
Just hours after the shooting in Virginia stopped, several died at a ‘Frisco UPS facility. The guy killed three former associates, then killed himself when the good guys with guns showed up. The moral of the story should be:
1) stronger laws against owning and carrying firearms in San Francisco (aka ‘Frisco) specifically and in California in general need to be put into place, or
2) stronger laws supporting and enabling good guys owning and carrying firearms in California in general and ‘Frisco in particular are needed.

Yeah……and on that subject Punchy was disappointed that the president didn’t show up and deliver the standard issue scold about guns.
I asked what he thought the president should say that hasn’t already been said.
I’m sure I’ll be receiving my response at any moment now!

Oh, Trump hit 50% in one poll over the weekend (the dastardly Rasmussen) and dropped to 48% this morning. And the Left is screaming, “Trump cherry picked polls!” How very Deplorable of him. Imagine a politician cherry picking polls! Unconscionable. Trump ain’t no politician, but he is a quick learner.
The elephant in the room that is not discussed..er…the jackass in the room for those who have been following is the polls for the Dem Party. I have never seen such low numbers in all my born days. Sunk like a rock. Alas. What happened to a such formerly respectable national political Party is a downright modern day tragedy.
At least Trump polls higher than the RINOs, McConnell, Paul Ryan, Queen Nancy, Lieawatha Warren, Chucky Schroomer, and the whole Dem Party. Heck, the Republican Party is polling higher than the Jackass Party. “Liberals” in and off themselves still poll around 25% approval, which is higher than their historical average of 19-22%, decade in and decade out.
Sure, Trumps beats those Alt-Leftist rejects, but considering the bar is set so low, it ain’t nothing to brag about. I think root canals and waiting in line at the DMV poll lower than the Alt Left, so there is always a silver lining. Never thought I would see the day when prostrate exams and stubbed toes polled more favorable than the Green Libertarians. We live in interesting times.
Let the fakenewsman savor in daily snapshots. It’s the only bright spot he can numb the pain with to keep his crushed spirits up. Life is heavy for those who have both a broken picker and TDS. There is already too much pain in the world. Let the poor soul find comfort where he may. It’s the least we can do for the less fortunate. That is who we are, those are our values.
I know about it all to well. I am a recovering liberal and it’s been a long hard road back to sanity and I, too, was once cast off as hopeless and held up to both scorn and ridicule. Let the man numb the pain by indulgeing in his polls. It’s all he has and without the polls to cling on to, no telling what will happen. Shudder the thought.
We all have our vices, so more destructive than others. Let him have his harmless indulgences. We must take compassion on those suffering lost souls. It’s the right thing to do.

I have no need to engage in dialog with most of you on this blog. I will only be making occasional postings of interesting news and engaging in selective conversations when I want to.

Shouldn’t that read posting of selective news? 😉

Paul, selective conversations or “hit and run” postings? You’ve been doing only the latter for quite some time.
“Interesting news” seems limited to polls that have Trump holding the short straw.

I believe Fish was addressing Gregory, triggering an odd Dope on the Rope rely on or about 3:55 pm. Fish addressing Gregory is clear as day to all without blinders on. Somehow the Punch Drunk One made it all about himself. Akin to Nancy Pelosi making the political assasian’s targets all about the death threats she has received, more than anyone walking God’s green earth according to her. She just had to center herself (and her religious worship) into this abominal act by a passionate Bernie Bro.
He just could not resist making the Fish-Gregory exchange all about himself just as Nancy had to make firing bullets at Republican Congressmen all about her. Could not not center himself into the dialogue. A true self centered soul sickness. Clinical.
Been telling you guys for months that those Bernie Bros take nastiness to a whole new level that make us Deplorables here resemble the Vienna Choir Boys. I cannot even repost what they did and said and called Friends of My Gal. Males dropping the f-bomb seem like calling someone a doo-doo bird. Very vile and vulgar, even for Biker Billy.
Did enjoy the Dems on their practice field upon hearing the breaking news, join hands and formed a circle to pray to the Almighty for their Republican counterparts. This on the heels of their Democrat platform in Philly removing all references to “God” from their party plank. Hmmm. Desperate times call for desperate measures. They know this shooting makes them look bad…..just before the Georgia special election.
Carry on Fish and Gregory. Learn to tune out the ant who thinks he is a raptor. The toothless dog will decide when he will bark. Far enough….as it it matters.

Correct Bill…that was for Gregory. Of course if Paul wants to elaborate as to what he thought the president should have said regarding the shooting I’m all ears.
