[Well, there you have it.  Former FBI director Comey is a politician for all seasons.  Where else can you find a man who can deliver to both sides of a terminally divided Washington a smorgasbord version of events that can concurrently bring pleasure if not outright glee to both sides of the aisle?  Everyone found much to like in what he said – a tour de force performance by the now ever copasetic, cautiously comportable (yet cowardly?) Comey.  gjr]

I’d give the nod to Trump.
Of course most of the frustrated Hillary supporters really find themselves in a quandary when the subject of telling the truth comes up.

Comey should be lawyer shopping today. As predicted, he cooked his own goose being and admitted LEAKIER. The news of those charge filings are out. Spit roasting VS grilling is a tough choice. Then again, bringing back the Brazen Bull is a good option.

Remember this going on a week before the election?
FBI Director James Comey reopened the agency’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails last week because “almost 100” agents threatened to resign before next week’s election, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay told Newsmax TV.
“A few weeks ago, almost 100 agents were threatening Comey that they were going to resign — and that kind of pressure is what turned him around,” DeLay, 69, the majority leader from 2003 to 2005, said on Tuesday’s “The Steve Malzberg Show.” “It wasn’t Comey or his integrity.
“I know he made a huge mistake when he indicted Clinton — though not indicting her — but now he’s trying to turn that around.
“He had to do it now or have all these FBI agents resign,” he added. “That would have probably been a bigger story than what Comey did.
“He got the pressure. He got the notice.
“He understood as far as his own job and being able to go forward in his own job and his reputation,” DeLay said.
“If 100 FBI agents resigned before the election, he would have been toast.” And the side show goes on and on…

Sure Todd. That’s why he’s soaring in the polls and has the support of the American people. Here’s some numbers on whether Trump fired Comey to protect himself or for the good of the country. The numbers are 64% – 24% that he Fired Comey to protect himself rather than for the good of the country. Pretty grim for the ol’ Trumper.

I am trying to figure out how and why people would think that Comey cooked his own goose or harmed his position at all by ‘leaking’….he did not ‘leak,’ he relayed his experience in the conversation. Nothing in the conversation that Comes released was classified, it is entirely legal to talk about it, and he is a private citizen now, so he is violating no professional commitment.

Walt, Gotta go along with Fish on this one. It goes nowhere or not far with charges against Comey. Just the way the cookie crumbles in Washington.
Sure, Comey lied, or bumped his head and can’t remember Squat, Jack, or Bo Diddley. No mater. Maybe Trump will say “he has already been fired so let’s not drag him and what is left of his reputation through the ringer, if possible. He has already paid the price, but that’s just my take. He is a good man,” See, Trump will be fair. Oh wait, Trump said that about Flynn. Me bad. Obstruction of Justice! Impeach the lying POS. Carry on.
Let Comey go quietly into the still of the night. He served well and did what he was told.

Well, all this is fun and games, but let’s get back to The CHARGE:
The charge is COLLUSION. Who is this very powerful person or persons who colluded with the Russians to turn our whole political system on its head and effectually changed the outcome on the 2016 election to ensure Trump’s win??. Who is this most powerful person? To upset the whole apple cart and make Trump’s win against all odds? Collusion. The charge is COLLUSION.
Oh, I ain’t taking about someone having business ties with Russian or having a foreign bank account or giving a speech to Russians businessmen or even Russians in general. Carter Paige? He did nothing. Paul Mannafort? Nah. No, who is this powerful person that colluded with a foreign government to alter the course of history?? Who has such power to cullude with Putin to make Donald J. Trump the 45th POTUS????? Who? How did they do it?? Who?
Yo Punchy, the charge is collusion. Not screwing Russian hookers or sending olive branches, or bromance or being a big fat narcissistic liar. Who is so powerful to collude with the Russians to totally upend the entire US political system???
With all the NSA intercepts, surely there must be a name to put on this most powerful person or persons. Someone so mighty that 60 million people turned out to vote for Trump that were otherwise not ever going to do that? Whoever this person is, he or she must be greater than anyone I know walking the face of the Earth. Soros? Putin? Obama? Who, who, who?
Remember all, the CHARGE is collusion. The reason Trump is the season. Who possesses that kind of power? Doesn’t anybody in the Intel Gang of Eight know?? pUNCHY, ho is it?

Comey had the conversation with President Trump while he was a federal employee. The conversation was privileged and confidential between the two of them (recall Trump indicated that when he cleared the room), therefore the material Comey subsequently recorded was a confidential government record and government property. Its content could be declassified or made public at a later time, but it had not been so done when Comey leaked it. It matters not whether you are a private citizen or not when you disclose such classified information. Those of us who held security clearances most of our lives know this important little piece of law. Why did it escape Comey?

Dr. R, Comey confirmed he has been a lap dog clitonista all along. He rolled over for Holder and Lynch by going with the party line on the broad Clinton issues. The veil was ripped off Comey in large part by his own statements on how weak he was. That’s why he kept getting plum assignments where he was malleable to dem influence, no memos written about Lynch or 0.

I am sorry there is nothing ‘privileged’ about a conversation between two government officials if no classified material is contained. Clearing a room does not make the information classified. There may be an expectation of confidentiality while someone is an employee, but if they leave the prohibition leaves. If that were not the case no one who left service in the White House would ver able to write a book 🙂
It is my understanding that the memo’s are in the possession of the Special Counsel. The memos have not been classified. Comey testimony did not include the documents as exhibits–he recalled their content from memory.
So in short–the information was not classified. As someone who held a security clearance for many years I assume you could tell the difference between a classified document and an embarrassing one.

Damn Frisch,, better read the laws about that. It blatantly obvious you didn’t.
They are all over the news. Too late for damage control. The SS LIB Slant is going under.
” George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley stated on his website that although the memos were created by Comey, the former FBI director would likely have to follow federal non-disclosure laws of classified and unclassified information.
Turley writes, “Besides being subject to Nondisclosure Agreements, Comey falls under federal laws governing the disclosure of classified and non-classified information. Assuming that the memos were not classified (though it seems odd that it would not be classified even on the confidential level), there is 18 U.S.C. § 641 which makes it a crime to steal, sell, or convey ‘any record, voucher, money, or thing of value of the United States or of any department or agency thereof.’”

Greg, notes regarding an investigation would not be free to share…regardless in this case notes were not shared…recollections were… and there was no case, the President was not under investigation. One can only “leak” classified information. Comey went to great lengths not to put anything classified in the memo and not convey any recollection that could be considered classified.
According to media reports, Trump plans on filing a complaint with the Department of Justice next week based on Trump attorney Marc Kasowitz accusation of Comey, “unilaterally and surreptitiously” making “unauthorised disclosures to the press of privileged communications with the president”.
The problem is that the conversation was not privileged either. First they can’t claim privilege because they have already publicly waived it. Remember that? To claim privilege one would need o identify what the privilege is…as in executive privilege…and they did not do so.
No one has sited either any specific non-disclosure agreement (the FBI does not require one) nor has anyone quoted any specific FBI rule against recollecting a non classified event.
However, filing a claim with the DOJ could be considered witness intimidation…which I think could be a real issue here.

Wrong Todd, if as you claim this is classified or privileged it would not be subject to a FOIA claim. If it was not classified or privileged it would be subject to FOIA….and THUS IT WOULD BE LEGAL FOR HIM TO SHARE IT…thus you are either confused, or speaking jabberwocky.

Clearly it is an interesting legal argument…one going on in the press right now…and you are all wrong…and confusing the difference between a ‘leak’ what is privileged, …and the content was never ‘classified’ as George contended.
