[I and several readers have noticed that mud-slinging bouts in the sandbox occur in waves, but recently these have come at an increasing pace and with longer durations. The resulting comment streams are difficult to parse for those readers who don't give a crap about the kindergarten tit-for-tat antics; it just makes it harder for everyone to find the substantive comments that contribute to an interesting topic thread. In the past I've had some success stopping these episodes by just excising the offending comments. The problem is extra work for me because sometimes a comment starts out with a thoughtful/substantive proposition and then ends with a mudball, or vice versa. I will solve this problem by just eliminating the entire comment and let the writer determine the profit in reposting a more civil version of the removed. gjr]

Obama’s foreign policy in this region was a total disaster as was Bush’s. That’s why we’re at this place right now.
Indeed!

You all seem to miss the point that Obama is not the president any longer. Referring to what Obama did while in office is like complaining about FDR. So what? The issue is what is going on now, not one, two, or 100 years ago, and now is approaching chaos. These people make Nixon look like a saint.

Assad: what was the target? A warehouse used by ISIS? What was in the building? I have no reason to doubt that chemical agents were released, but was the gas stored in the target area (unknowingly to the Syrian Army)? This could be a tragic mistake. Maybe a Treyvon Martin tragedy of errors kind of thing. Ah yes, I forgot about the creative editing by CBS of the 911 tapes. Wait and see……
BTW, I recall ISIS bragging about having gas a couple months ago on some short news blurb nobody paid attention to….if memory serves me correctly.

Why is bobbie so cross? Coddling the muslim brotherhood was 0’s policy, even bringing them into the WH on a regular basis. Everyone else treats them like the terrorists they are. Anyone remember Sadat? Peace thru being a p$%#y was the 0 way. A few dozen long range stand off munitions in 2013 targeting Syrian airfields would hvae totaly changed the trajectory of the middle east. So yes bobbie, what 0 did and more importantly did not do has left us with the Russians owning a big chunk of syria and a significant area of airspace control they had been wishing for the last 30 years. 😉

Scenes 145pm – The false flag argument is certainly plausible, and may turn out to be true. But until now we still have the more plausible explanation that Assad, who has gassed his people before, has done it again either rationally or irrationally. We know how Assad got his WMDs from Saddam, and it boggles a reasonable mind to believe that the sumbich surrendered all his WMDs during the recent much-touted handover. It is much more difficult to put together a plausible scenario that allows the rebels to put together a stockpile of sarin in Syria.

Now what “O” and Co. pulled off, subverting the rule of law, and just plain lying to the people is coming to light. Our LIBS don’t want to hear or discuss that either.
It was fine with them when Hillary was sucking up to Russia, Millions in (uh)donations to the Clinton foundation. No problem with bartering away 20% of OUR uranium.

“I was surprised that she (Pelozie) didn’t do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush,” Trump said. “It was almost – it just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing.”
“He lied. He got us into the war with lies,” Trump said. And I mean – look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. And yet Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true.”

Clapper: on the war’s eve, Saddam “transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria. No one went to Syria to find it.” That view was echoed by Iraqi general Georges Sada, former Deputy Chief of Saddam’s Air Force.”
https://blog.usni.org/2012/07/20/iraq-chemical-weapons-moved-to-syria-before-2003-invasion
“There were also truck convoys into Syria. Sada’s comments came more than a month after Israel’s top general during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Moshe Yaalon, told the Sun that Saddam “transferred the chemical agents from Iraq to Syria.”
Both Israeli and U.S. intelligence observed large truck convoys leaving Iraq and entering Syria in the weeks and months before Operation Iraqi Freedom, John Shaw, former deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security, told a private conference of former weapons inspectors and intelligence experts held in Arlington, Va., in 2006.”

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/jumping-conclusions-something-not-adding-idlib-chemical-weapons-attack/
This is aside from Ron Paul’s point that a chemical attack makes no sense from the government’s standpoint.
What a mess. Once again, the situation in Syria is getting dragged into US domestic politics (from the Green Libertarian standpoint, which takes no stand on anything, Trump is both a warmonger and is leaving poor Syrian children to die). What are your choices really?
1) Back Assad to the hilt, get the war shut down, bribe him to behave himself.
2) Back some bunch of revolutionaries. Tribal politics take over Syria. Hilarity ensues. The situation ends up like GröFaZ Obama’s brilliant Libya strategy.
3) Do nothing, let God sort ’em out.
The Russians appear to have chosen Door Number 1. John McCain and the Green Libertarians want to go to war with the Russians. So that’s out.
I strongly suspect that the first choice results in the least causalities and the fewest pulses of mass humanity into Europe, but realize it’s all too murky to tell.

Why didn’t Rumsfield know these things you claim? After all he was Secretary of Defense and said:
Here’s direct quotes
” If the Bush administration had known there were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq, it probably wouldn’t have decided to invade in 2003, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld said in an interview broadcast Sunday.
Speaking on CNN’s “State of the Union” program, Rumsfeld noted there were multiple reasons for attacking Iraq and ousting Saddam Hussein from power.
However, intelligence reports — now shown to have been false — that Iraq possessed WMDs were the main reason for going in, Rumsfeld said.
“No question it was the big one,” he said. Asked if the United States would not have invaded if the administration hadn’t believed Iraq had the weapons of mass destruction, Rumsfeld said: “I think that’s probably right.”

Who cares what wingnut Ron Paul says ya po’ ol’ party parrot PE. As the good Dr. notes we have beat this dead horse but given our resident druids fluid memory lets remember some facts;
1- Sadam used chems on the Iranians, his people and on us in the 1st gulf war.
2- It was in Sadams best interest after the gulf war ripped up his army that Iran and everyone else thought he still had chem delivery systems.
3- Sadam was never in compliance with the gulf war cease fire and regularly shot at our AF enforcing the no fly zone, acts that on their own justified mauling Iraq again. The first Bush screwed up by not bitch slapping Sadam over the attacks on the Kurds.

What does a rail line have to do with roads?
ALREADY, they are counting our tax chickens and figuring out ways to steal them!!!
Wake up sheeple.

Po’ ol’ PE again displays his incredibly pathetic lack of historical perspective@ 510 Sad. The worlds history did not start with Vietnam which seems to be the limit of your historical perspective, fail history too?

Trump keeps his word. (remember I called this one Paul?)
Cruz missiles launched into Syria. Just reported. 60 of those greeting cards got sent.
Nope, “O” has nothing on Trump. No “red line” warning, all business.

Fish @ 503- Syria was a long time ally going back to the pan arab movement starting in the 40’s. Both Syria and Iraq had Nazi trainers and were run by the Baathist parties. Lots of history there, so its not at all inconceivable he would have moved them with perhaps a hope to get some back later. A lot of what the Syrians turned over after 0’s red line deal with Russia were pretty old. Additionally Syria was the destination of choice for the Baathist rats fleeing the sinking Sadam ship. 😉
