[It pained me to read that legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano was suspended by Fox News, and I hope that he will soon be reinstated.  But I take heart that FN is an outlet that allows its senior correspondents to air items they consider important and true, and then hold them responsible for any subsequent mistakes.  To me this makes FN a more credible, comprehensive, and, yes, more balanced broadcaster when its reporters (consider Chris Wallace and Shepard Smith) and talking heads don’t have to get an OK from some lockstep editorial board in the head shed before going on the air.  gjr]

Paul, yes, you lied again. You said (no one else said it) you would be gone and not posting for a couple days. So, yeah, FOAD. You are a liar. A man is only as good as his word. If you cannot be as good as your word, you have nothing. You have zero credibility are a proven to be untrustworthy. That’s the facts, jack. On a more positive note, at least you are not fat. Otherwise, you would be fat, ugly, and stupid. Somebody else in Quaintytown takes that title. Always a silver lining.
    Healthcare vs health insurance:
My doc refuses to take Obamacare or Medical. He can’t afford to keep the lights on and almost had to shutter his doors when he opened his practice to all comers. Said he came this close to losing his practice.
With all the piles of added paperwork and tiny reimbursements. Rookie mistake.
I have driven more than one person out of the county to go see a specialist that takes medical…after a 3-4 month wait..and it is not for a heart specialist or something big. Long drive, longer to book an appointment, and hard to find one that takes Medicaid at all.
Having coverage is one thing, getting healthcare is another. Just look at the VA for how good single payer works. They all have coverage….while dying in the halls waiting on the floor for a nurse or to be seen.
If healthcare is a right, then a doctor who refuses to take Obamacare (there are thousands) is violating someone’s civil rights and should be procesuted. If healthcare is a right, then all nurses who go on strike are violating our civil rights and should be arrested.
The 13th Amendment bans forced servitude. Forcing physicians to perform services because it is a “right” means the 13th Amendment should be thrown out and slavery reinstated. Ain’t going to happen.
Maybe if all those European countries who have single payer would start paying us what they owe the USA via NATO and their written agreements, then we would have more money to pass around to the uninsured. What, German cannot pay 2% of their GDP, yet finished the year with a 245 billion dollar surplus? It’s easy to play socialist when you dine and dash and not pay your tab.
They want cheap Nation security protection so they can have cheap healthcare. Amazing. And PE says it’s mean to make them pony up…we will pay their NATO dues and in addition pay for some rapist or criminal who only wants to provide for their family….while drawing food stamps and breaking into our house, lol. Too funny. We will pay for everything…er…the other guy will pay for it with his money and give it to me.
Funny, some people want government to keep their noses out of their business…..until they want government to rob Peter to pay for Paul.

Folks have forgotten the differences between rights and entitlements.
The golden rule remains those with the gold makes the rules; everything from great sex to organ transplants will always be rationed in one way or another. Folks living or visiting in single payer heavens like France or Canada will find ways to get insufficient care… just ask Princess Di’s survivors (the rule was no transport until the patient was stabilized, as opposed to get them to a trauma center, pronto), or Natasha Richardson’s (air ambulances are too expensive for wide use, and economies of scale means expensive diagnostic equipment are regional).
So, here’s a quiz for all… who have the lower lifetime medical costs… smokers or non-smokers?

U.S. workers face higher risk of being replaced by robots. Here’s why
Millions of workers around the world are at risk of losing their jobs to robots — but Americans should be particularly worried.
Thirty-eight percent of jobs in the U.S. are at high risk of being replaced by robots and artificial intelligence over the next 15 years, according to a new report by PwC. (Price Waterhouse Coopers)
    [ooo]
“The gap between rich and poor could get even wider,” said Hawksworth.(John Hawksworth, PwC’s chief economist in the U.K)
    http://money.cnn.com/2017/03/24/technology/robots-jobs-us-workers-uk/index.html
Automation Invasion: Robots Are Coming for Your Job
Don’t call the government for help—they don’t know what to do either
The robots are coming for our jobs. If this sounds hyperbolic, consider the impact that automation has already had on the American workforce. From 2000 to 2010, approximately five million manufacturing jobs were eliminated, and automation accounted for 87 percent of those jobs. A recent McKinsey report estimated that robots could take over another 50 percent of jobs that exist today.
    More here: http://observer.com/2017/03/automation-robots-american-jobs/
The government does not want to recognize the problem as they do not know how to fix it.

I suspect smokers, since they are likely to have a shorter lifespan. I don’t doubt that they cost more before they are 65, and thus have higher rates. I should use Google but feel the laziness coming on.
BT: “My doc refuses to take Obamacare or Medical.” (I’m assuming this means Medi-Cal).
I know doctors in the area who don’t take insurance at all. My guess is that the cost savings in clerical staff, computers, office space, etc. is pretty remarkable. It would be interesting to price out an insurance policy that only covers drugs, hospitals, specialists. You can certainly argue that GPs acted more like dentists (unless you get a premium plan through an employer, dental insurance is essentially valueless).
Driving down the price of care looks like a difficult matter. Monopsony is one answer, alterations in patent law, actions against cartels, more competition somehow, everything sounds good until you try to put it into practice.

Gregory at 11:48 – One answer to that question is the smokers have way less health care costs.
One of my grandfathers and his brother-in-law both were overweight and smoked. They both went for check ups every year. By age 60, they were both dead from sudden massive heart attacks. Sad, but they definitely saved the health care system a bundle.
I wouldn’t recommend that path as a way to save health care dollars, and I keep in mind that was decades ago.
The main point I think Gregory is getting at is that health care costs have been proven over and over to be largely linked to certain personal habits and one’s life style. Once you let the govt become the ‘single payer’, it will also become the controller of your life in so many ways.
The silly idea that folks not taking care of their health will have to pay more is largely moot as the largest contingent of people with poor health habits have also been shown to be the ones with little or no income. Of course there will be ‘death panels’. But with a catchy name like – ‘Guarantors Of Your Healthy Existence’.

From Russ at 12:17 – “The government does not want to recognize the problem as they do not know how to fix it.”
Actually, the govt is helping to create this problem by doing everything they can to artificially raise the cost of hiring a human.
The govt is hastening the day any given job done by a human becomes more productive from automation.
The successful humans of the future will thrive by being adept at filling the tiny niche labor pools of jobs too small in number for anyone to care about automating. Or just become a politician. You can be sure that will be one job class made safe by legally forbidding automation.

Excellent point on government actions raising the cost of hiring, which makes automation more economical. And, they do not know how to stop, their solution to every problem is more regulations, raising the cost of everything. I like Trump’s two for one approach. Resend two laws for every proposed new one. Should help a little, but not enough. Every regulation should come with an expiration date, just like the meat in my refrigerator. .

Yes, the Brit healthcare system has studied the issue; both smokers and the obese subsidize the rest of the population.
No, that doesn’t signal a need to encourage smoking and high caloric couch potating but neither does it justify the primal need of coercive Utopians with skinny parents to claim a moral authority for ritual floggings.

Just the opposite, when measured over a lifetime, assuming they’ve been otherwise productive… but short term, it tends to be related to personal habits and the parents that you have chosen.

It is not clear why Perez and Robinson were never deported, but there are extensive problems with federal databases tracking illegal aliens. Under the Obama administration, 1,811 aliens from terrorist countries—with final deportation orders—were handed U.S. citizenship instead of being removed from the country.
“Fingerprints are missing from federal databases for as many as 315,000 immigrants with final removal orders or who are fugitive criminals,” the Associated Press reported in September. Until 2010, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) did not log digital fingerprint records of illegal aliens consistently. There are some 148,000 illegal aliens with final removal orders whose files do not contain fingerprint records, according to the Associated Press.
