[It pained me to read that legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano was suspended by Fox News, and I hope that he will soon be reinstated. But I take heart that FN is an outlet that allows its senior correspondents to air items they consider important and true, and then hold them responsible for any subsequent mistakes. To me this makes FN a more credible, comprehensive, and, yes, more balanced broadcaster when its reporters (consider Chris Wallace and Shepard Smith) and talking heads don’t have to get an OK from some lockstep editorial board in the head shed before going on the air. gjr]

“The tea baggers destroyed the very bill they’ve been waiting to pass for 7 years!”
If it was the bill they had been waiting for, why would they destroy it?
Apparently it was not the bill they wanted. I realize wading through legislative detail is beyond the leftistas intelligence, but please let us conservatives have some time to get it right.
ScottyM has no answer.
And from our local newsliar-by-his-own-definition: “Didn’t vote for O second time around,…”
Too stupid to figure it out the first time, Paul? Hmmm? I had him nailed right out of the gate. Why did it take you so long?
Oh, take your time – I’m sure you can figure out some sort of diversion given enough ganja.

Yup, the bill was crap. Ocare 2.0 . All designed by the “establishment” to give a little, yet keep a lot. LIBS are cheering that 25 million people keep theirs. Well what about the half billion of the rest that can’t afford to use what they are paying for? (You know, the ones that are actually paying into it?)
LIBS love to yap “Democracy! Majority rules the day! ” Up until THEY are in the minority.
Since Ca. loves to mandated heath care, how come they won’t treat the patient?
The “state” owns my now life long injury. Yet one do a damned thing to correct it, or pay for meds they are responsible for? Nice double standard.

The reason Paul did not, could not, would not vote for Obama’s opponent in 2008 is because “the maverick” John McCain was a neo-con warmonger. Paul does not believe in bombing Iran and expanding the Industrial Military Complex. McCain is bad, Obama good. Now, both Mc Cain and Obama are good. Go figure.

Does anyone remember that Paul Emery guy that used to post here about single payer health care?
Now that it’s in play in the state that he lives in, you would think he would make some mention of it.
Funny ’bout that.
Moonie Brown doesn’t like it, cause he knows it won’t work.
Paul is suddenly silent about his fave program. Strange that.
Awfully funny about these chaps that champion programs for years and then go silent-like about it. Kinda like they were just full of the stuff that comes out of the back end of certain quadrapeds.

Walt, the State has already said they can’t afford to eliminate the sales tax on feminine hygiene products because they need the money for CA’s healthcare costs. Yes, it another idea from some LA wackjob state rep to help poor women and looks like it will die on the vine. I say if they get a tax break for needed products, I should get a tax break for living with them during the times the feminine hygiene products are needed.
Our State is foregoing needed maintance on bridges and roads because the money is needed on such things as…..healthcare costs and general fund needs. Another gas tax coming, this one a 42% increase. Seems the Cap and Trade revenues are but a fraction of the projections. Somebody needs to pay for the bullet train. The last gas tax went for the bullet train and hundreds of thousands of low income housing, but it ain’t enough. Meanwhile, the potholes and crumbling bridges can wait.
Cigs are going up 2 bucks a pack on April Fools Day, but the money will be raided per the States standard method of operation.
I have a great idea. Let’s bring more poor unskilled people with grammer school level education in to our state with impunity from around the globe to help pay for the ride.

I’m interested on your opinion of this:
Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin joined Axios’ Mike Allen this morning at the debut of his News Shapers event series to talk about his new role in the Trump Administration.
On AI supplanting human jobs: “it’s not even on our radar screen…. 50-100 more years” away. “I’m not worried at all” about robots displacing humans in the near future, he said, adding: “In fact I’m optimistic.”

If you think health care is bad now when insurance companies with multi-million dollar CEOs are running the system just wait until the system is fully staffed with government employees……..
Think the day to day fraud of the VA system coupled with the efficiency of the California DMV.
But I’m sure it will all work out fine.

As to George at 10:42 – I’ll assume that quote is true (almost all the pols act as though that’s what they believe if they will even address the subject) so we can also assume George’s assessment is spot on.
Couple that thought with ‘creative’ pols in Sacramento that want to have the state of California dole out free health care to anyone who strolls into the waiting room for anything from aspirin to open heart surgery including illegal aliens and we have the perfect storm of complete lunacy running most of our country.
And that doesn’t even start to address the structural debt that no one has a clue to even start to deal with.
We can all chuckle at the extreme preppers, but it’s beginning to look like they are the only sane folks left, even if their timing might be off a bit.

“I, for one, am glad the bad bill failed today.”
Me too. Personally, I can’t see any reason why Congress couldn’t cook up small bills that nudge the beast around over time. In a perfectly fair world, you could start with making company health benefits a form of taxable income, but I don’t see that happening.
I probably disagree with a lot of the readers in that I’m not firmly wedded to a free market solution to healthcare, assuming something else can be shown to work (and there are plenty of petri dishes out there in other countries to see what is successful and what isn’t).
The fascination with insurance as a prime mover in costs is odd, but my guess is that the people that simplistically shout out about ‘single payer’ don’t really know how health systems work in other countries. It isn’t like Canada, Switzerland, Singapore, and France have the same health setup.
Heck, it would be nice to simply agree on what ‘healthcare’ actually is. Free aspirin? Free birth control pills? Free doctor visits? Catastrophic coverage only? Dentistry? My guess is that the louder someone is about ‘single payer’, the more they want free everything without kicking out the $5k-$10k / year / adult that it would probably cost on average.
In any case, no one care what I think, so I’ll leave with a graphic that’s more succinct than saying “he’s still President, Paul”….

Does the American liberal college student get a bad shake? Yes, they might be wrong about the vast majority of their positions, but they typically mean well, right?
I’m not so sure. Take a look at the “Oppression Olympics,” and you’ll see that many view everything through a “me-first,” “I’m a victim,” self-interested lens. For example, now a student is claiming that the Leftist anger itself against President Trump’s travel executive order and his illegal immigration stance is “anti-black.”
She says that people are talking only about Muslim and Hispanic “victims,” and not black “victims,” and that itself is a new form of racism.

I realize the musical left have a harder time grokking numbers than some, but just Mediscare has something north of 50 billion in improper payments. You could give a Kosher financial slaughtering to all the rich insurance company execs and it wouldn’t amount to anything more than a roundoff error.
Here’s a blast from the past, PJO’R in 1993:
“The Clinton administration is going to decrease government spending by increasing the amount of money we give to the government to spend.
Health care is too expensive, so the Clinton administration is putting a high-powered corporate lawyer in charge of making it cheaper. (This is what I always do when I want to spend less money — hire a lawyer from Yale.) If you think health care is expensive now, wait until you see what it costs when it’s free.”
