[It pained me to read that legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano was suspended by Fox News, and I hope that he will soon be reinstated. But I take heart that FN is an outlet that allows its senior correspondents to air items they consider important and true, and then hold them responsible for any subsequent mistakes. To me this makes FN a more credible, comprehensive, and, yes, more balanced broadcaster when its reporters (consider Chris Wallace and Shepard Smith) and talking heads don’t have to get an OK from some lockstep editorial board in the head shed before going on the air. gjr]

Todd @ 7:24am, Obamacare.
Well, the indivual insurance market is going under and now we are on schedule to have the group market (employer and company sponsored) be more expensive, unaffordable, and less options when the bad stuff kicks in 2018 and 2020. Pay much more for less. Whatever happened to the 85% of the workers who liked their plans, their options, and their doctor? They will be pentalized greatly to cover the 5-15% of uninsured.
So much money will be flying out of the household budget it will impoversive millions….to pay for the uninsured. That is what happens when you front load all the goodies and back load all the pay the piper stuff after Obama leaves office…..by design.
Not sure it is fixable. At least single women will not be forced to buy coverage for prostrate exams under the new proposals. A family of four will have to burn through 20k in deductibles (out of pocket) and pay $1,200-$2,000/month to add insult to extreme injury. Better off being uninsured or finding a private plan off the exchanges. No doctor fix, no hospital fix, no flexibility, no nothing….in the name of fairness? Fairness to whom? Not the 85% of the workers who liked their plans.
Oh yeah, Obamacare will save the average family $2,500 a year. Right. I can go to Disneyland with all the savings!
What a mess. Fixable? No so sure.

It looks to me like the process will be incremental. That is how the liberals get their crap over time. So we better learn that sometimes you have to start with half a loaf.

Paul just might keep his Ocare. Be careful of what you wish for.
Since “CoveredCa.” is mandated to be SUBSIDIZED by the FEDS for only about two more years,(a lifetime in Paul years) then the state will have to make up the diff for it to stay half assed viable. Where will the money come from to fill that Oroville Dam spillway void sized monetary gap?
Trump is done with the game. He will let Ocare collapse under it’s own weight. Then who will the Pauls and Stevies blame? Who will they demand pick up the tab?
LIBS never think that far ahead. It’s “what can I have today?”

” I will go around Congress,,I have a pen and a phone,” writing law from the oval office,
Yup, playing dictator. Things Trump isn’t doing.
Trumps hasn’t lied about anything. Now you say a campaign promise is a lie? Trump has followed through more times than all LIB campaign promises combined. That goes for Repubs as well.

Important to know the value systems in play here – ‘liar’ is appended to both those who attempt/intend to deceive, and also to those who attempt to fulfill their stated objective and cannot for reasons beyond their control. Hard to have a reasoned discourse with people who misuse the language in such ways.

You can always tell when po’ ol’ PE has a TURDS eruption, no punctuation and random capitols are symptoms. Watching the dems 0care completely crash in flames is not such a bad thing in the near term. I, for one, am glad the bad bill failed today. It did not address market based solutions, costs, competition, of even receiving good health care. It did not address selling policies over state lines or reforms. No tort reform. Obamacare is in the death spiral. Maybe Nancy and Chuckie can suggest needed changes so the boondoggle will not implode sooner than expected.
Obamacare needs to be replaced with a decent, if not a good bill. This was not it. This was not what is needed or wanted. Even if Congress today decided to repeal Obamacare, Medicaid would not be affected and all the po folk would still get their freebies….at a growing costs to the 24 states that expanded (lowered) the qualifications for receiving Medicaid.
A better bill is needed. For 7 years RINOs wanted to repeal Obamacare, and jumped on the conservative bandwagon. Then, when elected, they changed it from repeal to “repeal and replace.” They will be gone just like John Boehner and his sidekick Eric Cantor. This proposed bill sucked.
We still have time to get it right. The Cadillac tax kicks in 2018. Oh, the libs loved the Cadillac tax. Sounds like making the filthy rich pay their fair share, right? Gold plated is bad, unfair. Well, they never indexed the “Cadillac tax” for inflation, so as the years go by, more and more workers will be reamed with paying the Cadillac tax, even as they receive less benefits at a higher cost. In time, without indexing for inflation, even 2nd and 3rd rate employer/union sponsored plans will hit the workers hard with the Cadillac plans. The costs for the employee will skyrocket as Obamacare was written.
The whole idea was to make those who have adequate health insurance pay for those who do not. When those taxed for receiving health insurance from their employers hits along with the employer mandate, all will realize Obamacare destroyed a sizable portion of the economy. If Obamacare is so good, why did members of Congress like Nancy and Maxine fight to get them and their staff exempted from Obamacare???
Now, on to the real stuff….like tax reform. It took two years for Reagen to get tax reform passed. Judging by that, we are ahead of schedule. A very good thing and a very good thing happened today. One could argue, albeit weakly, that vets have a ‘right’ to healthcare. Government healthcare. The vets have Health insurance! Unfortunately, they receive very poor health care delivery. Good healthcare was not addressed today.
On to taxes and the Wall. Oil will be flowing through the Keystone pipeline any time now.
Good things happened today.
