That our country has passed the tipping point from a democratic republic has been maintained and recorded in these pages for some years now. Since the election of Donald Trump as our 45th president there has been a sea change in the national regression. Never before have major national institutions turned so virulently against a sitting president and dedicated themselves to the destruction of his administration. The only benefit that this assault has delivered for the rest of the country is that it has unambiguously revealed the agenda, means, methods, and memberships of the country’s agencies and institutions devoted to bringing about the global collective that was the early dream of the 19th century progressives cum communists.
RR’s talking points on these and related matters are often in the forefront of what eventually becomes national commentary. This observed sea change is no different. Here I want to bring to your attention three aspects of what is going on in the country. We’ll start first with the one-sided and now institutionalized hatred of the Right by Democrats as the newly radicalized party of the Alt-Left. The following screed was apparently distributed to county Democratic Parties to accompany their announcement of the 4mar17 national “Protest Trump Gatherings” some of which turned into riots with smashed windows, burning trash and tires, and tear gas. Our own Nevada County ‘Calendar of Upcoming Local, State, and National Events’ contains the following ‘Description’ for the regional riot that was organized in Berkeley, CA. The quotes and emphases are in the original published handout.
“On March 4th in the capital of the US, there will be a gathering and march of Trump supporters. Just as Trump’s fascist agenda has emboldened white supremacists and misogynists everywhere, this march is sure to attract the worst of the country’s authoritarian shitheads. (In Berkeley, the events are specifically being organized by members of the Alt-Right, connected to groups like the ‘Proud Boys.’)”
“While some argue that confronting fascists in the streets will only draw attention to them, we know better than to remain complicit(sic). Fascists don’t deserve a single outlet or forum to promote their disgusting ideology. Events like these empower and embolden these scum to further organize. We are calling on antifascists, anarchists, and anti-authoritarians everywhere to resist what is sure to be an open display of racism and misogyny.”
There you have their message in the raw. It is they – think also of our local Democrat Party – who are the arbiters of free speech, deciding which outlets and forums to deny those “scum” whose ideologies they consider “disgusting”.
In a recent comment stream on these pages I opined the following when informed (here) of the latest incident of blatant racism within the Left –
This kind of statements coming from leftwing factions are nothing new. In the US the Democrats have always been the most virulous racists the country has ever seen beginning with the foundation of the Democrat party in the early 19th century. It is they who backed slavery, terrorized post-bellum blacks, established and enshrined Jim Crow, founded and supported American eugenics, and finally sacrificed the emerging black middle class to create a cohort of permanently disadvantaged, ignorant, yet reliable voting block which they have enjoyed for the last 50 years.
In the 20th century they picked up on the political manipulations of Lenin, and were the fifth column backers of communism in the US. Now they are versed in loudly accusing everyone else of what in fact they practice – violence, hatred, discrimination, and an unabashed promotion of leviathan as an overarching totalitarian state. We have to remember that for them the individual is nothing but an expendable cipher that can be manipulated, deployed, and dispensed with for this or that political purpose. The collective is all, everyone else is assigned to classes that must be vilified and then destroyed. It is simply their nature.
In response a distinguished reader of the Left protested – “I wouldn’t deny that all those horrible things were done by those despicable Democrats, but how come they all switched parties after the dirty liberals demanded an end to segregation?”
Given the above and what we see daily across our land, did anyone else notice any party switching going on?
To underline the argument even more, I draw your attention again to the Middlebury College proscription (pictured here) of conservative sociologist Charles Murray in the ‘Freedom and Unity’ state. Pulitzer Prize winning columnist Daniel Henninger provided his 8mar17 ‘McCarthyism at Middlebury’ corroborating perspective on the affair put in the larger context.
The violence committed against Charles Murray and others at Middlebury College is a significant event in the annals of free speech. … Since the day the Founding Fathers planted the three words, “freedom of speech,” in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Americans and their institutions have had to contend with attempts to suppress speech. … The right to speak freely has survived not merely because of many eloquent Supreme Court decisions but also because America’s political and institutional leadership, whatever else their differences, has stood together to defend this right. … But maybe not any longer.
The college’s “hundreds of faculty and alumni” signed a letter withdrawing Dr Murray’s invitation as they ascended to the belief “that Murray’s ideas have no place in rigorous scholarly conversation.” In response to such constitutional atrocities Henninger asks the key question regarding the point I am making here – “Why hasn’t one Democrat stood in the well of the Senate or House to denounce, or even criticize, what the Middlebury mob did to Charles Murray and the faculty who asked him to speak? Have any of them ever come out against the silencing of speech they don’t like?”
But perhaps all is not lost. Soon after the ‘disinvitation’, a group of courageous Middlebury faculty decided that enough was enough, and collected themselves under the notion of ‘Free Inquiry on Campus’ to rebut their own McCarthyists and those already established across the land by making the point that “learning is possible only where free, reasoned and civil speech is respected.” All Americans, regardless of the political leanings, should hope that this sprig of backbone will sprout and grow on other campuses where draconian speech-codes dictate what can be thought, spoken, and written.
Finally, we review how our own government has already gone the extra mile and quietly eliminated (through unconstitutional laws) ALL of our 4th Amendment protections by removing The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Andrew Napolitano, the nation’s youngest life-tenured Superior Court judge and FN’s senior legal analyst, explains the details of how ‘1984’ has arrived in our living rooms, and the absence of any realistic remaining safeguards US citizens have against “unreasonable searches and seizures”. ‘Spies among us — Congress has created a monster that is coming for us’ is definitely worth a read even if it does curl your toes the wrong way.
In the piece you’ll discover why the debate about Trump’s evidence for claiming that Obama has ordered a ‘wiretap’ of his campaign is completely moot. Obama had access to ALL of Trump’s already recorded campaign and private communications. It is virtually impossible to prove what the former president chose to examine and share, since those exchanges occurred within the very bowels of the Deep State.
Now consider the use of these capabilities when our republic finally becomes the handmaiden of the global collectivists whose minions are now more motivated and emboldened by the day.
