[The Oroville dam will be our biggest news for some days/weeks to come. Will anyone take stock of the agencies that are supposed to be in charge of dam maintenance and reservoir management? And how will the Left's resistance to the building of more reservoirs on the Sierra rivers to permit better management of water during dry years, and reduce stress on existing dams during wet years like the one we're having? gjr]

It’s time for Trump to apologize and restore the position to then acting Attorney General Sally Yates who called it right About Michael Flynns illegal contact with theussians. She was rewarded by Trump for her good work by being fired. From Wapo
“The acting attorney general informed the Trump White House late last month that she believed Michael Flynn had misled senior administration officials about the nature of his communications with the Russian ambassador to the United States, and warned that the national security adviser was potentially vulnerable to Russian blackmail, current and former U.S. officials said.
The message, delivered by Sally Q. Yates and a senior career national security official to the White House counsel, was prompted by concerns that Flynn, when asked about his calls and texts with the Russian diplomat, had told Vice President-elect Mike Pence and others that he had not discussed the Obama administration sanctions on Russia for its interference in the 2016 election, the officials said. It is unclear what the White House counsel, Donald McGahn, did with the information.”

Trump should restore the AG position to Sally Yates who was telling the truth about Flynn as part of her job. Here’s a link

It’s pretty obvious that this ‘Logan Act’ fuss has little to do with the business at hand. It’s been violated by scads US celebrities and political figures. If you care, I’d be happy to dig up a dozen or so references.
What this sounds like to me is a civil war within the federal government between existing members of the deep state vs. the new king. It’s a textbook example of why third parties rarely succeed. There’s simply too much money to be made and special interests to be pleased to ever turn off an open-borders, pro-militarism ruling class.
Hopefully we aren’t blessed with any more Clintons, though.

Police Officers: “We Didn’t Vote Republican To Get Stabbed In The Back”
In the highly contentious battle to extinguish public worker rights, Iowa Republicans have attempted a divide-and-conquer approach to pit unions against each other. Their legislation splits public workers into two groups, one that’s “public safety workers,” and one that isn’t. The idea was to strip away nearly all collective bargaining rights from most public employees, but keep most of it for police and firefighters, who are politically more difficult to go after.
It didn’t work.

She was right about that as well. It has not passed judicial scrutiny so why should she defend it. Her job is to give the President legal council and she was fired for doing that.

I mean is it conceivable that Flynn could’ve had those conversations with the Russians about sanctions and not told the president about it in advance ? If so then he’s way out of bounds and if he did tell the president that means Trump has been lying all along about the nature of those phone calls It’s a huge mess for the president and so early on in his term Pense and the conservatives are licking their chops waiting to get rid of this guy because they don’t like him either. In fact he has virtually no friends in Washington It’s going to be a short bumpy ride for the Trumper

I realize that when you’re all excited like this you have……difficulties.
The proximate cause of Sally Yates dismissal was her refusal to enforce the immigration EO. She doesn’t get to noodle it through in her head and just decide not to do it……unless she wants to get fired……which is what happened. She carries out the order, quits, or is dismissed at the presidents discretion.
Those are pretty much the only options available to Ms. Yates.
The “Judicial Scrutiny” you referred to comes later.
Really Paul….this isn’t that hard.

Sally Yates was the one who warned Trump weeks ago of the legal and political liability of Flynn. For that she gets fired instead of being rewarded for steering Trump in a proper direction. Now he has a huge mess on his hands and things are falling apart all around him.

Fox News Shep Smith defending the Press for bringing the Flynn story to a conclusion. He claims Trump weould have done nothing without the headlines.

It does not meet the road when the Washington Post, the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal all make it a front page story above the fold.
“Because, in this case, that’s what it took,” Smith continued. “It did not take the president, it took the headlines from WaPo

My understanding is there is no Logan’s on Flynn as he was incoming NSA and the protocol was fine for hiom talking to anyone. He screwed up by lying to Pence. That is the reason he is adiosed. So Paul Emery, it matters not you have your panties up your crack and it hurts. Trump is fine.

You are wrong Todd. At the time Flynn had no official capacity and was only Trumps nominee to the Cabinet. He was not official until three things happened:
1-Trump became President
2-he was voted in by the Senate
3-He takes the oath of office.
Where did you get that information Todd? Would you mind sharing it.

PE- You lied about the EO not being reviewed by the DOJ, DOJ not 0’s leftover lame duck acting AG. The office of compliance absolutely signed off the EO. So cut the crap!
Now we know this leak was orchestrated by honorary mullah, Ben Rohdes and his 0 buddy hold overs who helped facilitate the leak. Now we have people who have seen the transcript saying it was as expected, the Russians brought up the sanctions and Flynn said the new administration would be reviewing all policies.
Motive- Stop Flynn from releasing the iran nuke deal secret side deals and other dirty laundry as was expected. Take him down and take down the biggest anti-0 anti-iran senior player. It started as soon as team lefty lost. Another political hatchet job from all of the 0 lap dogs in the intel system. 😉
