[This is the addended transcript of my regular KVMR commentary broadcast on 8 February 2017.]

A lot has happened on both sides of the aisle in the last couple of weeks.  President Trump is off to a determined if not bumpy start to deliver on his campaign promises, and the Democrats …?  Well, they’re off to an even bumpier start which raises the real question – where are they going?  No one seems to know.  Their only objective is to don the ‘Party of No’ mantle and protest everything until the cows come home.  As a political party, don’t you have to do a bit more than that to have a hope in the 2018 elections; don’t you have to tell the voters what objectives you want to achieve other than throw sand in the gears of the Trump administration?

Right off the top the Democrats have no top, no next generation leaders with ideas that make sense to a country which their old and existing leaders have managed to put into what feels like permanent doldrums cranking along with a screwed up foreign policy, and with even worse domestic policies.  They don’t seem to remember why they lost the last election, starting with the presidency and plunging wholesale into the states and counties.  It is clear that people wanted something different, something that might have a chance of working besides a rehash of the same ol’ same ol’ by the same old crew.

Most Americans don’t want a brave new world created under the government gun that forces us to accept porous borders, or pauper ourselves to nurture those who hate us and our way of life, or even allow 50-year-old transgendered men to share a bathroom with little kindergarten girls.  Instead, other cultures that send us their emigrants should rest easy that when these new Americans assimilate to our ways, they will inevitably change us a bit to adopt some of their ways.  That is how American culture has evolved since the days of the Pilgrims, the Dutch, the French, and the Germans.  Those who came afterwards always assimilated first and then gently showed the rest of us how to accept some of their cultural gifts.  I know, I am one of those who arrived here as a young refugee from Europe, and whose rapid assimilation invited all the blessings of this land to fulfil my American dream.

But these days our globalist neighbors have brought about new rules to control us.  Today we are told to accept newcomers from strange lands who establish themselves among us in insular communities that by law we then have to respect and support.  It is we Americans who must in our own land adapt to the stranger, and change our lifestyles so as not to somehow violate the newcomers’ sensitivities – even unto not displaying our flag, not wearing the visible symbols of our faith and fathers, and forego celebrating our history in the public forum as we have done for generations.

This is what the politically corrupt Democrat Party has established in our land in the eyes of at least half of those who still proudly call themselves Americans.  Is that the implied platform of our political Left?  Is it on that basis that they hope to convert or coerce the rest of us?  Hopefully, this will not work, for there are too many of us on both sides who will resist to the point of an eventual break-up as the Left today demonstrates with their Calexit.

Europeans have taught their immigrants and now migrants to become irredeemably aggressive, and to make outlandish demands on their host cultures.  And we Americans are publicly bludgeoned on moral and humanitarian grounds, stretched beyond recognition, to emulate the mistakes that Europe acknowledges, and for which it can find no remedy save belatedly building fences to stem the hordes of unvetted migrants.  In our streets today Democrats carry signs demanding that we ‘Open Our Borders’ and ‘Welcome All Who Want to Come’.  The Democratic leadership maintains a public silence as their surreptitiously directed, augmented, and funded base continues to alienate more and more Americans in the middle.

Until Democrats come up with a viable leadership and platform for their future, the rest of us should let them go on digging their hole, while making sure that in the hysteria we don’t follow Europe’s footsteps as counseled daily by current Democrat elites.

My name is Rebane, and I also expand on this and related themes on Rebane’s Ruminations where the addended transcript of this commentary is posted with relevant links, and where such issues are debated extensively.  However my views are not necessarily shared by KVMR.  Thank you for listening.

[Addendum]  Locally the Democrat desperation matches if not exceeds its national froth; after all we live in the nascent Socialist State of California.  A land where the overwhelming majority believes or at least dutifully accepts that more and bigger government is better, and that human enterprise is not affected by such esoteria as tax rates and ever burgeoning regulations.  Whatever they can do, we can do better.

The national "sharp left turn by the Democrat Party" (here) is illuminated locally by auto-incandescent moral lighthouses like Ms Hilary Hodge and sharp intellects like Mr George Boardman, regular columnists of our beloved Union which has now declared its leftward lean, a tilt that was already apparent to discerning readers.  For a semblance of balance the newspaper’s editorial board does harbor a conservative or two whose voices in print draw howls of repudiation and demands from the Left that they be forthwith silenced for their manifold heresies.  Mr Norm Sauer’s recent column (here) juxtaposed with Ms Hodge’s contribution (here) illustrates this situation.

For the last ten years RR has served in the introduction of ideas, notions, and concepts about which our light-reading local Left has been ignorant.  To make clear their limited purview of what is out there, they have for years reliably and predictably accused me of originating and harboring these heresies as a lone wolf up here in the hills, even when the citations and links I provided have inevitably made them out to be the sheltered fools in these parts.  Such exposures always draw a response from their cricket corps, which, after a spell, they return to once more accuse me of the very same ‘infractions’ when next they are exposed to something 'new'.  I remind my readers of this because they currently are shielded from the latest climate change hysteria dupings (here), and, germane to points raised in my above commentary, to other conservative voices which join my longtime proposition that ‘The United States cannot Survive as Presently Constituted’.

None of this revelation is intended to dissuade our leftwingers from contending the ideas that I and mine (e.g. as cited) have put forth.  By all means, marshal your resources and have at them.

[10feb17 update]  Well, the acid test of whether America in the aggregate is as butt stupid as the indivisible leftwing protesters, rioters, and disrupters make us out to be will be decided sooner than later.  It is beyond my comprehension as to what their leading lights think they will accomplish by shouting down Republican MoCs in their public meetings, denying the new SecEd entrance to a school, …, and generating more fake news stories per hour than there is media time to disseminate them.  The most prominent of the latter being that President Trump has initiated a Muslim ban on immigrants making a religious test into a prerequisite for entering the country.

These people are very well funded and now have published a how to disrupt instructions as they organize their grassroots core.  Here’s a first in the memory of all of us who have been following American politics since the Eisenhower days – an actual manual published for the country to oppose its duly elected president – ‘Indivisible: A practical guide for resisting the Trump agenda’.  In there you can read instructions on how to repeat what Congressman Tom McClintock suffered in Roseville last week, here’s an example –

Be prepared to interrupt and insist on your right to be heard. Since you won’t get the mic at an event like this, you have to attract attention to yourself and your message. Agree beforehand with your group on a simple message focused on a current or upcoming issue. Coordinate with each other to chant this message during any public remarks that your MoC makes. This can be difficult and a bit uncomfortable. But it sends a powerful message to your MoC that they won’t be able to get press for other events until they address your concerns.

If the Republicans (including the prez) keep their cool, 2018 should be a banner year because it is now clear that the know-nothing protesters have a hot button that is readily available to the GOP.  Pushing it in an uncountable number of ways will bring out the double dummies in force, and let more and more folks in TV land say to themselves, ‘I’m not like that.’

And then we come to the progressives’ understanding of the Constitution which is really a separate topic that deserves its own focus.  Let me just say here that the Left is doing everything it can to redirect and rearrange the constitutional functions of government, now using the judiciary as the only remaining arm that is still theirs, to determine policy, constructively legislate, and then implement the new rules they impose on us both individually and as a nation.

The time to the ascension of Associate Justice Gorsuch will seem like an eternity.

I am basing my deep blue predictions on the following things
    1. The blues have a solid wins in Truckee and Nevada city districts that will be good for the next four years Those numbers truly reflect the demographics of those districts and it’s not likely to change Two districts will be up for election in two years that will be Winnabow by the blues who are engaging in a serious candidate search for both districts
    2. elections last year clearly show support for blue positions on local issues such as tax revenues, measure W, District one supervisor race democratic voter registration , presidential preference etc
3 Demographics seem to indicate Rising number of liberal and blue residents moving into the area and indications are Republicans move out as they reach retirement age This can be demonstrated by the high percentage of democratic registration amongst new residence Conversatios with real estate people Indicate Large number of retired government workers and teachers are moving here because of the environment and culture
    4. The remarkable rise in the local left activism as a reaction to Trump Mostly women are activated like I’ve never seen before Closest thing to it was the tea party movement a few years ago which now seems to have dissolved and morphed into the Jefferson movement which has dedicated but small support
    5. Marijuana cultivation in accordance with the new state laws will continue to be an economic driver for the future of Nevada County They won’t go away they have support of the businesses in Nevada county, they raise money they will support candidates. Tech industries are also on the rise and have a tendency to be blue and liberal in their preferences. Traditional Republican sources such as developments and land use, mining for an example, are not very relevant in today’s economy
Please excuse any typos I’m doing this from my iPad and I’m not very good at typing on these gadgets

Man, that must have been one hellova pufferfish, bro!
How have your predictive skills evolved since their total break from reality in the past 12+ months?
I completely agree… Truckee and in town Nirvana Silly are blue, but this isn’t playing with Dominos, and W didn’t fail because Blue predominates… it was because Reds didn’t think it was well drafted… absolutely no one wanted true medicinal users to be penalized, especially cute kids with rare disorders that seemed to need it.
Congresscritter votes county wide were pretty well even between DEM and GOP.
“Local left activism” is primarily a tantrum rejecting the outcome of the election; like in Berkeley, it appears the only actual fascists in evidence are the angry left. I am personally thankful that the angry losers did not become the abysmal winners they expected to become, looking forward to completely demolishing the GOP and grinding them into the dirt of history, with climate deniers and bitter clinger gun owners joining them as GOP closet cases.

Paul, you have a sense of what the local pussyhatters think?… do they realize most voting white women in the country voted Trump (with perhaps 43% for voting women as a whole) and that the One Free Grope Rule introduced by lead pussyhatter Gloria Steinem to give Bubba a get out of impeachment free card a few years ago completely exonerates past alleged behavior of our current groper in chief?
I see protesters blocked Sec’y DeVoss from entering a Washington D.C. public elementary school… but she got in anyway. Would the local Bluies do the same?

It’s about time somebody makes a Cheech and Chong underwater movie. Has minorities, immigration uses, and the sea weed. And the puckerfish. Maybe a mermaid to weave a love story through the plot and the happy ending.
More Scott Adams the Hillary supporter.
“Some of you watched with amusement as I endorsed Hillary Clinton for my personal safety. What you might not know is that I was completely serious. I was getting a lot of direct and indirect death threats for writing about Trump’s powers of persuasion, and I made all of that go away by endorsing Clinton. People don’t care why I am on their side. They only care that I am….If you didn’t believe me that I endorsed Clinton for my safety, perhaps the recent shooting of police officers changed your mind. That’s the sort of tragedy you expect to happen when Team Clinton frames the national debate as a race war.”
Though Adams has said that he does not belong to a political party, or vote, he has been outspoken about politics.
Oh, a happy ending from the cartoonist. 🙂
“Speaking of Hitler, I’m ending my support of UC Berkeley, where I got my MBA years ago,” he wrote. “I have been a big supporter lately, with both my time and money, but that ends today. I wish them well, but I wouldn’t feel safe or welcome on the campus.”
Adams seemed to identify himself with the Breitbart writer. Both men have taken pride in sharing unpopular and “un-PC” views and have praised President Trump.
“I’ve decided to side with the Jewish gay immigrant who has an African-American boyfriend, not the hypnotized zombie-boys in black masks who were clubbing people who hold different points of view,” Adams wrote in a blog post. “I feel that’s reasonable, but I know many will disagree, and possibly try to club me to death if I walk on campus.”

Didn’t see this one coming; A judge on the 9th circuit court of appeals has asked the full court to hold a reconsideration hearing on the immigration EO. He is asking for an en banc hearing which means a new group of 11 judges (excludes the last 3) would do the reconsideration. The 9th has already asked for new briefs. Hmmmmm 😉

if you can’t make them see the light, make me feel the heat. Neatly avoid the issues. The first judge did not issue a ruling on the big questions (1) does a state have standing to sue and 2) is the Executive Branch decisions on immigration reviewable? So, what can the 9th rule on? Golly, looks like it’s coming to a happy ending.

That Trump don’t know the rules.
Remember back a few years when CBS ran that fake news story from Dan Rather (October Surprise!!) about W being a draft dodger or something. Typewritter keys too new for era? Busted. Sent Dandy Dan packing into retirement and the press got together and gave him a lifetime achievement award at a rubber chicken dinner and kissed his ass goodbye? Well, I am getting to the point soon.
During that whole time, neither George W or Karl the Brain said one word. Not a peep. Dead quiet. Well, what’s the point?
The point is that is how a gentleman Republican acts. A Republican President zips it and goes softly into the cool still night. But Trump don’t know the rules! He popped them in the kisser. Pow! He sure ain’t your daddy’s Republican President. Hell, no party will claim him so I guess he is the Deplorable Party’s President. Terrible decision.

Toes 812, I would make a horrible accountant… I’d go postal from boredom after the first month.
The problem with self described “liberals” nowadays is there is nothing liberalis about them… they’re Progressives, democratic Socialists, coercive Utopians of the “shut up and do what I say” mold.
I ran after Bobby Kennedy’s motorcade, managing to shake his hand as his bodyguards kept their rag doll from getting pulled apart and out of a convertable (that Hunter Thompson would have loved) a week before Sirhan Sirhan did his part for Palestine… I think that may be the first Muslim assassination, act of terror if you will, in the USA. By the time I gave up on the Democratic Party, refusing to hold my nose for Carter’s reelection, it was because I realized there was more Jeffersonian DNA left in the nth generation of Sally Hemming’s descendants than there was left in Jefferson’s Democratic Party. A shame.
My grandpa Joe, the ‘Frisco native, graduate of Lowell High school in the ’20’s, brewer and Teamsters/AFL-CIO local union secretary could no more vote GOP than he could cut off his right hand with his left… but when he’d have a kegger for his union buddies (virtually every night, longer on weekends) there were limits. Once a guest sat down at the piano (a honky tonk upright that needed tuning) and banged out the Internationale… proudly singing the lyrics. Grampa Joe, the US Army veteran, politely asked him to leave. Now.
This isn’t my Grandfather’s Democratic Party, and it hasn’t gotten better.

You both are blind to an old, sad joke… many voters, not wanting to register for either party, whether they don’t want to be a Democrat or a Republican or (like Mr. Pink) want to be able to claim they aren’t a Democrat or a Republican… see American Independent Party and think, Aha! that’s for me.
This came to a head in our one party state of California that allows crossover voting in primaries under certain circumstances, many have found themselves actually registered for a party and trying to vote in a party primary that allows the ‘decline to state’ people but not actual members of another party. Oooops.
This has in the past found such rocket scientists as actress Emma Stone and bad actor Gavin Newsom as apparent George Wallace fans. The irony, it burns!

Remember the “unskewed” polls you followed in ’12? Romney by 7 right Todd.

Gregory and Paul: This had nothing to do with Nevada County, a gun shaped dot on the map that 99.23% of the people 300 miles from here never heard of and found only by using a magnifying glass. No, this is surprising how well Gary Johnson did. I think this may be the untold story of 2016….outside of the Liberal Playground where you fine fellas reside.

Paul, the photos of the ACTIVATED lefties demonstrating locally reveal what has been true for awhile… they’re old. Medicare mortuary bait.
I get it, you think Dems being the Plurality party in the county is more important than the fact that 63% of registered voters here didn’t choose the Democratic Party.
I realize you do not have a long attention span, but you did leave a long list of unanswered questions in the last couple of days… if you need help digging them out you’ll get it… if you promise to stay on task until the discussion comes to a logical conclusion.
To the GOP members out there… yes, I know, Paul does not have a history of staying on task when he can’t land an effective punch but there’s always a first time.

Todd, I am not feeling all that hysterical these days. I always thought California could survive on its own. We just surpassed France as the 6th largest economy in the world, so we are not doing as badly as Alt-Right echo chambers would have us believe.
That said, there is plenty of room for improvement on many fronts here in the Golden State.

Damn Brad,, the “G”man is already looking at’m. It’s called the IRS. The IRS never had a problem of leaking info to those who “needed” it. One phone call that says, “Harry Reid sent me”,, and Trump’s records would be on the way. Now which end of the big rig would you care to start at?
So the Daily kook is on the hunt. LOL…..

    Greg 11:59.
Absolutely true. This crest of political unrest is different than the last one in that there’s a large cohort of red pilled young people. Pussy hats are mostly for the middle aged.
Sadly, the LaBeouf art installation was not long for this world.

@ GeorgeR – “Let me just say here that the Left is doing everything it can to redirect and rearrange the constitutional functions of government, now using the judiciary as the only remaining arm that is still theirs, to determine policy, constructively legislate, and then implement the new rules they impose on us both individually and as a nation.”
Hmm, let’s review, Omaha nominated a candidate for SCOTUS and the righteous Right refused to allow it… can you say ‘hypocrisy’?
Wouldn’t it be grand if Czar Trump could control SCOTUS and just make up his own Constitution?

Here is what happened to this guy, Sid Bikkannavar, no doubt because he looked ‘Muslim’,
“Sorry for the absence. On my way home to the US last weekend, I was detained by Homeland Security and held with others who were stranded under the Muslim ban. CBP officers seized my phone and wouldn’t release me until I gave my access PIN for them to copy the data. I initially refused, since it’s a JPL-issued phone (Jet Propulsion Lab property) and I must protect access. Just to be clear – I’m a US-born citizen and NASA engineer, traveling with a valid US passport. Once they took both my phone and the access PIN, they returned me to the holding area with the cots and other sleeping detainees until they finished copying my data.
I’m back home, and JPL has been running forensics on the phone to determine what CBP/Homeland Security might have taken, or whether they installed anything on the device. I’ve also been working with JPL legal counsel. I removed my Facebook page until I was sure this account wasn’t also compromised by the intrusion into my phone and connected apps. I hope no one was worried. JPL issued me a new phone and new phone number, which I’ll give out soon.”
