[Mr George Boardman, our beloved compatriot debater and member of The Union's considerable cadre of leftwing columnists, has again declared his true colors in today's 'Who's behind Calexit?' Therein he presents a pernicious conspiracy theory, blaming the whole movement on those dastardly conservatives. "It appears to me that Calexit is being funded and supported by shadowy forces that are less interested in ridding California of its tormentors than makings the rest of the U.S. permanently red. Thatβs why Breitbart News and Infowars havenβt exposed this threat to the American Way of Life." Calexit a threat to the American Way of Life??!! Aside from that little bit of humor, my real question for our readers is what possible "Observations for(sic) the center stripe" can Mr Boardman hope to offer? Perhaps he can expand on both claims. gjr]

For a news person PE you sound so willfully ignorant of politics. Who were big donors to the 2 R’s who voted against DeVos? A- Teachers unions. What’s a few mill super pac bucks here or there when you are billionaires? You do recognize that your 950k in 37 years is only 25k a year for Senators from the whole family, right PE? That’s Secretary DeVos to you as of a few hours ago. π

Should not make much difference because she can’t do much because Conservatives leave education and curriculum up to local and State control and don’t believe in Federal control of schools.

Yes PE, drain the swamp of the calcified same old, same old group think you so regularly demonstrate. DeVos has worked the issue for years yet has not been tainted by the swamp in DC, like much of the NEW Cabinet. Pay for play, that’s a laugh, madam liar liar pantsuits on fire wouldn’t pick up a latte for all the money the DeVos family has donated to pacs. π

Also can you send me documentation on Union contributions to the two Senators who opposed Her? Shouldn’t say those things unless you can back it up.
Once again here’s a link to my documentation. Please check it out before you open your mouth, Makes you look like an idiot.

People forget that locally “controlled” schools are actually centrally controlled by uncontrolled (by the public) teacher’s unions which really are coordinated by state level union representatives working in and around the state education departments, one of the reasons the CTA is the 600lb gorilla in the one party state of California. IIRC about half of state and local tax revenues have historically been spent on education. Remember… it’s for the CHILDREN!
Colleges of education have been pushing labor intensive and ineffective pedagogies (look it up) while promoting labor rules that do not value intellect or real academic achievement. Teachers overwhelmingly arise from the bottom 25% of incoming college freshmen, and, believe me, if you have teachers with an average of 900 or so points on the SAT Math + Verbal, you aren’t going to be getting lots of high school graduates with M+V above 1250.
We need teachers that can teach, not just encourage students discovering material for themselves, standing on the shoulders of their fellow students rather than the giants that teachers formerly used for lecture inspirations.

Before we hyperventilate about DeVos buying her SecEd seat, itβs good to take a look at what the teachers unions have been doing for years and years to dumb down our kids. As the record shows, Iβve not been a fan of the Dept of Ed, nowβs the time to drain that part of the swamp. A correspondent forwarded this β
Betsy DeVos was confirmed as the new Secretary of Education — 51-50. This, after Democrats did everything possible to stop her, including a pathetic 24-hour talking marathon designed to please the radical Left while posturing to care for kids. Take a look at the political contributions made by teachers unions in 2016…
National Education Association: $23.7 million
American Federation of Teachers: $8.8 million
AFT Solidarity: $425,000
And where did these millions go?
Democrats in Congress: $ 2,315,309
Republicans in Congress: $ 212,859
That means that Democrats received nearly 92% of all political contributions that teachers unions gave to members of the United States Congress.
The vote on Betsy DeVos was not about children. Senate Democrats (and 2 Republicans) voted against DeVos to protect a monopoly that funds their campaigns, and protects a system that is failing our children. Want proof? Just last month, a nonpartisan study by the federal Institute of Education Sciences revealed that the Obama administration School Improvement Grant (SIG) program failed to achieve any academic improvement for students… over 8 years! The program spent over $7 billion, the largest investment ever to help failing public schools. And it accomplished NOTHING. Yet, Democrats in the Senate fought tooth and nail to preserve the status quo.

To name only a few, records show that The National Education Association threw $18.1 million into the coffers of Democrats and spent another $1.4 million on advocacy. The Service Employees International Union also opened its pocketbook wide, donating a whopping $19 million to Democrats. And the liberal UNITE HERE spent $4 million just to register voters.
All total, unions spent at least $108.2 million on politics this cycle compared to the $78 million spent in 2012 and the $59.1 million spent in 2008,
according to The Wall Street Journal.
Little of that went to Republicans.

So Don, Todd, George, Bill what is your view on view on asset forfeiture without a conviction or an arrest?
Asset forfeiture is widespread and doesn’t even require a conviction or even an arrest to enforce. Banning it is what the unnamed Texas Senator proposed that caused Trump to suggest he would destroy his career. . According to the Washington post, in 2014, federal authorities alone seized over $5 billion from suspected criminals, more than the total losses to burglary that year. That number doesn’t even count seizures conducted by state and local law enforcement.

Paul, without going in the details or Trump specially, that asset seizure program run by some counties (Sheriff Departments) in Florida is downright theft and no bueno. A guy is at the airport with 5k on him and they seize it as potential drug money and they never get it back. It takes lawsuits and much time and they never get it all back after much effort. It’s akin to the IRS seizing money from a live-in girlfriend because they think you are hiding it from them. Needs reformed. Guilty until proven innocent. P
Now, if your local LE budget is counting on the asset seizure program as part of its annual budget, the motive is there to push the envelop.
But Paul, as far as the Feds seizing 200 foot yachts, private jets, and mansions from “poor little innocent immigrants from South America”, I say fry their ass and bring back torture. Cut their balls off and make them choke on their own gonads. Then seize their stuff and deport them. Oh yeah, try them in absentia just to make it legal.
But, even if you can’t do all that fun stuff just for kicks, just torture them good and hard tor a fortnight. Then take their shoes and make them walk across hot coals and shredded glass if they want to leave. If they make that far, they are free to go.

Trump will ruin a lot of politicians careers if things go right. That is why the Deplorables have him sitting in the Oval Office.
Actually, Paul, with all the real big stuff going on right now and with the press trying frantically to catch up and the liberals’ heads exploding at every turn, your concerns about asset forfeiture is back burner stuff. First we have to get Sessions sworn in in some back closet tomorrow afternoon. Then, it will be the new AG ‘s job to tackle such issues. There is an order to these thing, Mr. Paul. Patience. Give it 3-4 months and then maybe this will be moved to the front burner for a couple of days. Russia, Iran, the economy, getting a handle on orderly immigration, China, trade policies, SCOTUS, rebuilding the military, the Wall, cleaning out the Intelligence agencies of America haters, cleaning out State from Wasabi lovers …stuff like that better on Trump’s mind for awhile.
Your questions Paul, are premature and not all the facts have been presented. One side of the story does not cut it.
