[I was perusing RR's hoary past to note the constant torrent of comments predicting the assured and imminent demise of the Republican Party for this or that outrage according to our tireless local progressives. I also note that no one from the Right has been foolish enough to predict the Democrats' demise for doing some really dumb things over the last decade of these pages. So does that mean that there is no learning taking place on the Left (my favorite hypothesis), or do these adamant worthies subscribe to and unabashedly place their hope on the unfortunate truth that it is possible to fool most of the people most of the time? (This is my own observation over the decades that completes the standard shibboleth 'You can fool some people all the time, and all people some of the time, but you can't fool all of the people all of the time.' Well, you don't have to; fooling most people most of the time works out quite well as confirmed by most astute observers.) gjr]

Times and circumstances change PE, what was ok in 1962 is irrelevant in 2017. We are still at WAR. Immigration policies have changed drastically over the last century. This is now and policies have to recognize the objective realities of the situation we are in. We did not start this war, remember? ๐

I love the fact that this is one of the areas that you simply will not discuss. That the middle east is being imported to be the next reliable democrat voting bloc.

Carter banned all Iranian nationals entry to the US, including suspending the visas for 50,000 Iranians already here and forced thousands of Iranian students attending our our colleges out and sent them home.
Yep, I remember all those good people at every train station across Europe standing with welcome signs and gifts to the new arrivals in Europe. Welcome refugees. Now Sweden is the rape capital of Europe. Refugees or economic immigrants? Heck, even hundreds of those kind welcoming big hearted social workers got raped or assualted over time.
Assimilation is the key. I don’t recall Peruvian or Scottish or Polish immigrants shooting up a holiday work party, blowing up peaceful runners and onlookers of a marathon race, or driving a car into students at Ohio State Univeristy. Anybody remember 9/11?
A improved vetting process won’t solve everything, but is reasonable and needed.. The important thing to remember as a nation of laws is that no foreign national has any right to come to the USA because they want to. 50,000 new refugees that Trump wants in is the same 8 year average of Obama. But, we won’t talk about Obama. The world began today.
Rather than waste time and ink, I will post a link.

Speaking of The World Began Today, I found this little article about how quickly they long for the good old days of 3 months ago. This is not for Paul, since he has positioned himself so he has to defend nothing, but gets to attack everything. PE gets to have all the fun. Yes, PE, we know you did not vote for Obama in 2012, so you are off the hook.
There is no history, the world began today. American values are at stake! The Left gets to decide what the American Values are and which of the American Values are at stake….which I find offensive.

BT- ? The linked poll showed 57% favor new immigration order? I noted the poll on the right where only 36% felt safer after 8 years of team 0. I think the country instinctively recognizes the simple issues here. President Trump is actually doing his job and that is a body blow to the 1% media elites. OMG! ๐

If a national sample is showing 57% support the new immigration policies then it would be reasonable to conclude that the Trump states would be even happier. ๐

I am somewhat amazed that some longtime RR readers are still unfamiliar with the wide variance in America’s immigration policies over the years. For example, the Rebanes went through a vetting process (as described herein) that was on steroids compared to today’s “extreme vetting”. And other well read commenters’ citations should also be reviewed. We have NOT “always welcomed immigrants and refugees”, and in any case, this has nothing to do with American values among which Value #1 is not getting ourselves killed in our homeland by some crazed raghead.

Looks like Paul is pulling his “polls” from some dark place South of where the Sun shines, and taken by the same idiots that said Trump would never win.
The ONE good thing the people Paul admires are good at is bitching.
So tell us Paul, you will do your best to stop a mine from opening, will you put the same effort into a Muslim minaret built in the middle of town, and have the Muslim call to prayer blasted so nowhere within the city limits can miss it?

Let me say I’m not a fan of Riebus but if voodoo practioners could being Tim Russert back from the dead in exchange of the soul (if any) of Chuck Todd, I’d be happy to watch the show… maybe rename Meet the Press as “The Talking Dead”.

Paul forgets….er….conviently fails to mention that Obama was popular, yet his policies were unpopular. Hard to find an Obama policy that garnered above 47% approval rating.
Conversely, Trumps ratings are in the toilet, yet his policies have good approval numbers. That tells me anyone who ran on Trump’s policies would be sitting in the Oval Office today. Only Trump ran on the policies that Americans approved off. Obama, albeit popular, clearly articulated that his policies were on the ballot in 2016. Stay the course, if you will
That also tells me it is Trump’s policies the Left must defeat, not Trump. Geeze Paul, Obama wins the popularity contest and loses the substantive issues contest. Your polls are correct. The ballot box was also correct. I will take substance over personality and you can have every single personality over substance contest all day long.
To win in 2018 or 2020, PE must defeat Trump’s policies. It’s the high approval numbers of Trump’s issues and policies that is blocking the pass, not a mere man.
