JohnLewis2017Well now that Congressman John Lewis has declared the Trump presidency “illegitimate”, that icon of civil rights and registration-free voting has attracted more Democrat politicians to join him on the leftwing’s bandwagon to oppose our new president.  Lewis’ contention is that the election is illegitimate due to Russia’s “conspiracy” to oppose Clinton, thereby aiding Trump. (here)

What I have been waiting to hear some pundit or nationally prominent journalist contribute to these reports of Russian participation, now elevated to conspiratorial heights, is a description of the means by which their activities torpedoed Hillary’s candicacy.  We are taught that bad guys are indicted through establishment of their motive, opportunity, and means (MOM) for carrying out their dastardly deed.

Now posit with our intelligence community that Russia and/or her commissioned agents, along with anyone else with very modest knowledge about penetrating undefended servers, did actually hack the DNC and Clinton Foundation emails.  What then?  By what means would they reach America’s Democrat constituents to sway their votes away from Hillary.  Here we have to understand the make-up of the audience targeted by this supposed conspiracy.  These are people, especially the Millennials contingent, who among their other intellectual deficits have short attention spans (here), are characterized by their drastically deficient knowledge base, and who don’t follow current events until, charitably, just before the election.  They are mostly what may be termed slogan-cemented voters.

Russia is then supposed to have turned over the emails to Wikileaks, who claims to have received them from one or more of number of plausible sources, and Wikileaks makes them available on their website.  It is the US news media that then delve into the emails, extract their embarrassing, revealing, and uncontested content, and make them public over various outlets.  Additionally, Putin would also have ordered its propaganda arm RT to include those emails in its continuing anti-Hillary coverage, which according to media surveys had and continue to have little impact on American audiences.  It is simply a channel that we, especially our low-information brethren, don’t consume.

Concurrently with this mysterious and unexplained Russian impact, our own partisan media outlets (overwhelmingly supporting Hillary) drowned out anything that RT could have delivered on these shores.  And our media’s content was overwhelmingly anti-Trump for the year plus preceding the election.  So again, by what means did Putin’s puppets perturb the minds susceptible to Hillary’s progressive pabulum??

As I and many RR readers are aware, to advance their national interests, governments have always meddled in other countries’ internal politics and that includes elections (see the Logan Act addendum below).  Most certainly the US is an established expert in this field.  Under Obama’s leadership – e.g. mocking Romney’s timely and accurate identification of Russia as our prime enemy – we became especially vulnerable to Putin’s anti-American stratagems.  Among a number of concerned individuals and government departments, the FBI is on record of having warned the DNC at least eight separate times about the vulnerability of their servers, and especially Hillary’s illegal private servers on which SecState business was conducted.  The evidence that the Democrats, under Hillary’s lead, did it to themselves is now overwhelming.  And therefore the efforts to successfully conceal and confabulate this evidence must overwhelm even more.

So far all that the anti-Trump forces have been able to do is simply, forcefully, and repeatedly claim that it was the Russians who changed voters’ minds and therefore made Trump’s victory illegitimate.  And according to Alinsky and other spiritual forebears of the Left, that is all that one needs do to embed any new idea, no matter how false or unsubstantiated, into the mind of a malleable public.  Within such a campaign there is no need to identify and give evidence of the plausible means by which the Russians stole the election for Donald Trump.  It just happened because we said it happened.

[Addendum]  Logan Act histrionics.  In recent comment streams this law and its alleged violation has seen a lively debate.  A little research reveals why the Left’s invocation of this ancient piece of legislation represents just another desperate Hail Mary denigration of and the latest attempt to impede the upcoming Trump administration.  This, along with Congressman Lewis’ illegitimizing claim discussed above, once again reveals and underlines the writhings of a political party in crisis, and unable to get purchase in the arena of public attention through any other means – e.g. such as presenting a revised platform of policies that may garner public support.

The Logan Act (here) “forbids unauthorized citizens from negotiating with foreign governments having a dispute with the U.S. It was intended to prevent the undermining of the government’s position”, specifically conducting such negotiations “to the injury of the United States”.  Proving the intent to undermine and injure one’s own country has properly erected high bars for applicable evidence.  And for that reason only one person has been indicted and no person has been prosecuted under Logan during the 200+ years that the law has been on the books.

The Democrats’ current insistence that national security adviser designee General Flynn violated Logan in his recent contact with the Russians is the latest of the many invocations of the law, all of which appear to have been launched by either party to serve their political agendas.  To now claim that such contacts, with no plausible injury to the country, are evidence of Trump administration corruption while still in the starting gate is prima facie laughable and excellent material for a late night comedy skit.

People innocent of the broad range of contacts that Americans of all political promotions have had over the last two centuries will readily leap into this fray to serve their larger political agenda.  Contacts between American business leaders, lobbyists, union bosses, and even political parties (e.g. American Communist Party and Moscow) with foreign governments have been a common and intensely practiced intercourse over the last two centuries.  Nevertheless, as a Democrat, with only hoary and encrusted collectivist policies to offer, and with only old war horses like Lewis, Clinton, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, … available to carry the party banner, you pull every lever that you can reach.

The Pack is about to start so I’ll make this brief. LOL!
Lewis reminds me of someone who took his heroic effort to obtain Civil Rights in the 60’s and parlayed that fame into a good personal income stream. Paid for by the taxpayers, taxpayers of all races and colors. And when you look at his district, what do we see?
I have written before about the media deciding that results are not to be attached to liberals. Especially black liberals. OC has overwhelmed the media’s brains and they are afraid to call these failed people regarding American success, out. So I say stop telling everyone Lewis is a hero and ask him what all politicians usually get asked, “what have you done for me lately”? He and his brethren of the Congressional Black Caucus are a failure. They lord over their failed cities but get re-elected without opposition mainly. When the media and th school books fail to mention themen and women who have succeeded in America it is not to be unexpected the people think these do-nothings in Congress are hailed as heros.
So Lewis and his pals keep that failure rate high so they have the brain dead voters of low expectations voting them in. I say Ben Carson, Clarence Thomas and the CEO of Dignity Health should be the role models. But I am sure even bringing this up will get the racial juices flowing in the failed system of PC.

Putin did such a great job of titling the election that Hillary won the popular vote by millions. If that is success, I wonder what failure looks like.
Wikileaks exposed the inner workings of the DNC and the incessious relationship between the Democrat campaign apparatus and the MSM. Hillary herself was not the focus of 99% of the Wikileaks doc dumps.
I heard a lot this election that crowd size does not matter. It mattered, it mattered. The day following the Democrat Convention when Hillary’s numbers were sky high and she was still basking in the glow of her historic nomination on national TV coverage, HRC and her VP Kaine hopped in the bus and did joint appearances at rallies in her strongholds of Cleveland and Cincinnati, Ohio. 300 people showed up at both. They basically pulled her off the trail for 8 weeks after that, save for 2-3 private fundraisers a day and 3 small appearances in high school settings a week. That’s 3 public appearance per 7 days.
Bernie Sanders, who drew 20,000 in Seattle and LA, went to stump for Hillary. He drew about 100-125 people.
Meanwhile, Trump was hitting the trail daily flying everywhere doing multiple appearance in multiple states a day, including record setting arena crowds in off beat places like Shreveport, LA, sometimes outdrawing previous record crowds at rock concerts and college sporting events in some venues.
What is the point? Both candidates basically viewed as unfavorable, distrusted, and disliked. If Russia had any effect of the HRC campaign, how to you explain the enthusiasm for Trump the Hideous? How do you account for Hillary going 7 months without a legimate press conference and avoiding tough interviews? How do you account for her campaign kickoff, then back to the drawing board, and then Campaign Kickoff 2, the relaunch. Then another campaign reset/relaunch? All this happened before Wikileaks.
Low energy Hillary, low energy supporters. Top down. High energy Trump, high energy supporters. Top down.

Shorter version of the above. From Joe Biden who saw the same thing I saw. Ask not how or why Hillary lost the election, but ask how and why Trump won the election. Trump won by the hair on his chinny chinny chin, with some innate skill, incredible drive, and a bit of luck.
Joe Biden had the best quote about the 2016 Presidential election in his LA Times interview. Summed it all up nicely in just four words: “You can’t eat equality.”

John Lifson at the American Thinker
The people who want to destroy the Trump presidency demand that John Lewis, be awarded absolute moral authority (shades of Cindy Sheehan) for his public denial of the legitimacy of the next commander-in-chief. At least that is the conclusion one must draw from the torrent of abuse Donald Trump has received for his tweets suggesting that Lewis should better spend his time helping his constituents.
Lewis is invariably described as a “civil rights icon,” but the man is an utter fraud. He has been coasting on his 50-year-old reputation for decades. Andrew Breitbart exposed Lewis as a liar when he claimed, falsely, to have been subjected to racial epithets by a crowd outside the Capitol. Lewis disgracefully testified against Jeff Sessions’s nomination as Attorney General, again playing the fake race card. And, for what it’s worth, he didn’t consider George W. Bush a legitimate president, either.

According to John Lewis, no Republican could be a legitimate President of the United States. Only Democrat’s are legitimate Presidents! He is a black partisan political hack!

Russ 618pm – I was going to extend the piece about Lewis’ actual contributions to governance after making his bones in civil rights marches, but decided not to since readers like you would most likely augment this commentary with the inevitable bagatelles of fraud, lies, and racist behavior that adorn his record since sanctification. Thanks.

Exactly how did the Russians do it? Glad you asked.
“If you are an American, you are a victim of a hostile attack, a murderous dictator who wanted to affect the election. They hired an army of trolls to spread lies and distract from the real issues.”
From the fired disgraced one to our ears.

The Trump Dossier Puts the Deep State in Deep Doo-Doo. “As you will see, the dossier is so ridiculous, if anyone in the Intelligence Community fell for it, he’s too stupid to allow in place, and if no one did but they still played a role in publicizing it, everyone involved needs to be fired.”
I hope that this was not lost on Mr. Trump. I would be asking for the names of every hand that touched this ridiculous bit of doo doo as it made it way to an annex of his daily intelligence briefing. No wonder Trump is loosing faith in the intelligence community if this the kind of crap they are presenting as intelligence.

    Dr. Rebane @ 9:35pm.
Exactly. They cannot explain the how. They know the boogey man is under the bed, and that is all that is important. How the boogey man got there is of little import. All that matters is they believe the boogey man is in there keeping them awake at night and wrenching havoc on their peace of mind.
Some have come around to admitting their part in the loss. They will admit that Putin did not order Hillary to avoid Wisconsin and rural Michigan, but they are certain that Putin is more to blame. They acknowledge their small part of blame, but the lion’s share of the blame falls on the evil anti-American foreigner Putin.
Thus Braziie’s “if you are an American, you are the VICTIM of a hostile attack”. It is the ole “the other dude did it” defense. The other dude’s intention is to “distract from the real issues.”
Me thinks that Brazile & Co. are the other dude who done it, an army of trolls to spread lies and distract from the real issues. Issues like exactly how the Russians did it.
It’s the ole us vs them. We may not be perfect, but the murdereous dictator is the real bad guy here. How? Forget “how”, Putin is a murderous dictator. Get your priorities right, people!

I brought it up before, the one proven intervention in American Election was Mexico’s President. Why are the Democrats not worried about that intervention? Oh, wait that was against Trump!
Stop Trump Movement Gets Boost From Mexico’s Efforts in U.S.
Mexico is mounting an unprecedented effort to turn its permanent residents in the U.S. into citizens, a status that would enable them to vote — presumably against Donald Trump.

Russ 1257pm – Mexico’s interference in US affairs is as despicable as it is longstanding. Our socialists, of course, are blind to it and their silence is testimony to the electoral impact and America’s weakening that such lawlessness promotes.

John Lewis. I did notice Rep. Lewis was looking rather uncomfortable during the catered sit-in inside the People’s House last year. That floor was hard on his old bones. The luckiest break he ever got was being clubbed that day during the civil rights movement. Made him an icon, a hero, a legend. Without that moment, who knows if we would have ever heard of John Lewis. Be that as it may, I have no desire to kick him around too much.
Lewis is a lib and as a lib he possesses the victim mentality. But, because he got clubbed standing up for his rights, he is in the lifetime above reproach category. Hmmm. Strike that. I remember the OWS crowd booing him and jeering him when he wanted to be seen on camera during the Occupy movement. He even got shouted down when he tried to address the unruly OWS crowd. Young people have not respect nor sense of history.
Different times. John McCain rode the POW narrative all the way to being the Republican nominee for President in ’08. Now even I cast a suspicious eye his way. Shame on me.
I have two axes to grind with Lewis in particular and all liberals in general.
    1) The first was the unspeakable reaction to The Pluse nightclub mass murder by an Islamic terrorist. They (the libs and progressive gene pool diluters) grabbed the spotlight off the grieving families and sorrowful Nation by turning this unspeakable tragedy and loss of our millennials with their whole lives ahead of them into a anti-gun publicity trick with their sit-in on the House floor. Instead of standing united against Islamic terrorism, they turned this horrific event into crass political gamemanship. Blame guns, not devote Islamic wackos. Makes me want to vomit.
2). The second ax I have with John Lewis (and the twisted Lefty Losers) is his claim that Trump’s astounding victory is illegitimate. Rep. Lewis offers no proof, reason, nor factual evidence. He may detest Trump like most of the Lefty Losers do, but at least he could give a reasoned train of thought we could follow as to why he believes the election results are illegitimate. Even the NSA, CIA, and the FBI could not and did not even attempt to quantify the influence the Rooskie bastards had on the election results. Believe me, if they had even some antedoral stories or suspicions that the Rooskies swayed the election, it would have been leaked last week, no matter what.
Last night I read a story about the Packer’s win over Dallas. The writer was talking about the Greenbay field goal kicker. The writer said whatever happens next to the field goal kicker in his life, he will never have to buy a beer in Greenbay again. I though of John Lewis. Whatever happens to John Lewis, since the day he was clubbed, he will always be a hero, an icon, a legend.

And half the money. Imagine if he had twice as much money and could carpet bomb LA, Frisco, Chicago, NY and Denver with TV buys. What Trump had was almost not enough.
John Lewis is an old school Social Justice Warrior with nothing else on his resume. For his constituents, that’s enough and it’s their choice.
