[Apologies for another overdue sandbox.  Boy, they sure fill up fast.  I would personally enjoy readers' thoughts on airport massacres, the new venue of choice for terrorists and madmen to carry out mass shootings in highly crowded environments where the shooter is guaranteed by the federal government to be the only one armed (save the readily identifiable and evadable security personnel).  And the best part of such exchanges is to once more hear the pinhead progressives conclude that too many CCWs are the real problem.  gjr]

DR. R@ 801- Todays guy hearing voices telling him to join ISIS was interviewed by 0’s PC FBI who again had a red flag interview and did nothing. Another visible result of 8 years of 0’s neutering of LE. Oh well, he has not done anything yet and we don’t want him to FEEL like we are profiling him, so let him go.
You have to wonder if anyone in the FBI process even discussed pulling the ISIS wanabe’s gun license? :-0

Amazing how one man with no party backing him, no ground game, no machine, no script…..a man who for the first nine months of a campaign got all his polling by reading it in newspapers and not even hiring a pollster or focus group or opening up field offices…………one 70 year old man with no experience, who never done anything like it before brought down a Political Machine more powerful, more financed, and bigger than any single political party in US history (the likes of which the USA has never seen) wth 30 years of preparation for this moment in time……….only to be reduced to rubble. Dust in the wind.
The only possible explanation is that enough Americans rose up in a populous rebellion and said “Enough!, we are tired of getting screwed, blued, and tattooed and we are taking OUR country back.” “Done talking. No more next time. It’s now or never.”
Only possible explanation I can think of. Bigger than Trump for sure. Bigger than 1,000 Trumps. It was millions of nameless forgotten Americans holding their ground in the face of relentless waves of scorn and ridicule standing firm crying out “You are fired, go pound sand.”
Yep, only conceivable explanation I can think of when you think of what one man standing alone on a stage accomplished. We did it. The wrecking ball had the name Deplorables written on it…..to add insult to injury. We so bad. :). Oh, the job ain’t done yet. Not by a long shot.

Bill re your 6:07 Kasick would have easily beat Clinton. Also Bernie would have easily beat Trump. Two very unappealing candidates either of which would ave been the least popular new President in modern history. The country was ready for a populist movement nd Trump provided what they were looking for.
Trump is ignoring the assessment of all our intelligence agencies saying he knows something they don’t know-what the hell is that.

The Intelligent Community Report was a self-serving report with no proof, as it would reveal sources and methods. Or, it could reveal they have no smoking gun evidence of intent. I am voting for preserving sources and methods which are considerable. That leaves the question in the public minds why no smoking gun proof.
In reviewing the report, it is clear the Russian hacking and disinformation campaign has been going on for years. My question is why is it a big issue now when Government agencies are hacked and information stolen for the full eight years that the Obama administration was in charge of security? Why has the security been so lax? Why was it only important when the Democrats lost the election and not all the previous 90+ months of the Obama administration?
What is all the fuss about the Russian’s trying to influence our election? Obama spent millions of taxpayer dollars to influence Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s election, sending some of his political team to advise the opposition to Netanyahu. Democratic double standards? It is OK for the US to do it, but not the Russians.
I like the ad running on the Internet. “I do not worry about being sued; I plan for it.” For over eight years the Russia and other nation states have been hacking US agencies, you would think that the DNC and the other Democrats would have planned for it. It appears the FBI warned the DNC it was being targeted and they did nothing about increasing security. Only when their emails exposed who the Democrats are: crooked, homophobic, sexist, and just bad people did it matter.

PE @ 901- You are just steamed up my man.
The transition is going to use the 2006 boarder bill that was ignored to start the wall , a bill that even chief clown Schumer voted for as the foundation. There are other passed bills that just gathered dust under 0. They have already identified 4 billion to come from an earned income tax break for illegal alien kids, then there is taxing the massive remittances to Mexico, Central and South America. In some Central American countries the remittances represent as much as 15% of GDP.
Then they are going to cut off all federal monies to illegal alien programs and then throw in the money that wont go to sanctuary States and Cities.
That is a massive pile of cash PE, waaaay more than the projected 12 billion cost. 😉

Re the Intelligence Community’s report – Yes, I have read it thoroughly and have taken notes which I will share with you tomorrow. Let me give you the high hard one as a preview – a careful read reveals the report makes neither mention nor claim that Russia’s government or its agents did any hacking of anything or anybody. Did they publicize hacked emails obtained from Wikileaks, among others? Yes, but BFD. Did they favor Trump over Hillary? Yes, but again BFD. Bottom line, Russia has done nothing surreptitious or new during the 2016 election that they haven’t been doing for years (decades if you consider the USSR). They are our (eternal?) enemy and will undermine us every chance they get, get used to it and quit hyperventilating, it unduly excites the double dummies among us – especially in the media, Fox News included. In the propaganda wars, we have done much worse to them, and even our putative allies.

“President-elect Donald Trump hit his “Apprentice” replacement Arnold Schwarzenegger with a one-two punch Friday, tweeting that the new show “got ‘swamped’” in the ratings and slamming the former California governor for not supporting him during the 2016 election.
“Wow, the ratings are in and Arnold Schwarzenegger got ‘swamped’ (or destroyed) by comparison to the ratings machine, DJT. So much for being a movie star-and that was season 1 compared to season 14,”
Trump, who is still an executive producer of the show, said in a series of tweets. “Now compare him to my season 1. But who cares, he supported Kasich & Hillary.”

Wall is simple. Each time you shit a brick, it’s one more free brick in the wall. Opps, not you buddy. I meant the Trump haters and the liberals and the progressives. I was not referring to the independent enlightened libertarian thinkers.
At this rate Mexico will only have to pay for the mortar. There are some wetlands to figure out how to build across but Mr. President-elect Trump has that figured out. But the real major hurdle is those darn endangered species. Do think there are enough endangered liberals lounging in Grannie’s basement to complete the project? Hard to say. Time will tell.

Would it not serve the greater conservatarian purpose to have them learn nothing from this go around and then repeat their mistake the next time?

Rest assured George the left will continue to learn nothing…..Pelosi has already admitted as much! At the national level it’s “democrat as usual”!
I submit that if you don’t believe this, then we must conclude that our left-leaning commenters are indeed ropa-doping those of us who get worked up over their outrageous claims.
The only political thought he’s been able to muster since the election is, “You don’t crap where you eat”….I’m sure that looks good on the pamphlets! Of course he demands that you answerendless questions in order to secure his blessing of any political position that you hold.
Alinsky was correct in this…..the most potent weapon is ridicule! I come to mock, deride, and humiliate the idiot children of the left, not persuade. They are completely immune to reason and common sense.

re Russ, at 7:43 – My outdoor reading was minus 8 this morning. We have record amount of snow on the ground here in the Treasure Valley in Idaho. Of course it’s not a lot compared to what I remember in Nevada County but this is a desert, after all. The joke around here is that mother nature is trying to weed out the ex-Californians who can’t take a little weather. Not a big deal here at Sage Hollow, but we know a few that just arrived this summer from Southern Kali. Boy howdy, are they in shock. Another 5 to 10 inches of snow on the way. Glad to hear Nevada County is getting pasted with a good old soaking. You folks need the water.
Ah yes – ‘global warming’ and ‘the end of snow’.

The American people are opposed to the Wall as well. Majority don’t want it or not hot on the idea. There are some sections that won’t get the Wall in some mountainous regions if you listen carefully to some of Trump’s statements a couple months ago.
No way to gauge how passionately one feels when they say they don’t like the idea of the Wall from what I have read to date. I imagine there will be more protests and mayhem over the issue in places far far away from the bush rats. Few roach coaches out there.
So, the Wall will probably evolve into walled sections. Start with plugging the biggest holes in the dyke first. Expect a flurry of lawsuits from the Sierra Club over endangered the ring tailed desert bush rats and desert tortoises and subterranean land sharks.
Estimates are 12-18 billion. That includes the establishment and maintenance of uge desert sidewinder rattlesnake breeding facilitates and releasing the scaly ones in strategic areas in open areas along the border.
The Audubon Society has remained strangely quiet on the issue. 🙂

I invite your attention to this Joel Kotkin article in Real Clear Politics: California as Alt-America
In 1949 the historian Carey McWilliams defined California as the “the Great Exception” — a place so different from the rest of America as to seem almost a separate country. In the ensuing half-century, the Golden State became not so much exceptional but predictive of the rest of the nation: California’s approaches to public education, the environment, politics, community-building and lifestyle often became national standards, and even normative.
Today California is returning to its outlier roots, defying many of the political trends that define most of the country. Rather than adjust to changing conditions, the state seems determined to go it alone as a bastion of progressivism. Some Californians, going farther out on a limb, have proposed separating from the rest of the country entirely; a ballot measure on that proposition has been proposed for 2018.
    [ooo]
In sharp contrast to the 1960s California governed by Jerry Brown’s great father, Pat, upward mobility is not particularly promising for the state’s majority Latino next generation. Not only are housing prices out of reach for all but a few, but the state’s public education system ranks 40th in the nation, behind New York, Texas and South Carolina. If California remains the technological leader, it is also becoming the harbinger of something else — a kind of feudal society divided by a rich elite and a larger poverty class, while the middle class either struggles or leaves town. . . .
Instead of a role model for the future, the Golden State seems likely to become a cross between Hawaii and Tijuana, a land for the aging rich and their servants.

    http://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2017/01/06/california_as_alt-america_132724.html
Nevada County seems to be adopting the states blue model as young families are being priced out of the housing market and they move away closing schools. The homeless population continues to expand, creating growing demand for services and creating tourism backlash. Liberals from the coastal counties are cashing out and moving to Nevada County to escape the urban blight they created in the cities. . . . which is sure to follow as the County goes blue.

Russ 1011am – Good pick-up Russ. And it’s most important to note the continuing Left/Right asymmetry. When those on the Right want to constitutionally establish a new state in the Union because their interests are not represented by the calcified and corrupt collectivists in Sacramento, then those people are vilified and denigrated by the Left as being everything from butt stupid to treasonous. Now that the Left has had its political ass kicked in national elections, California socialists are up in arms promoting a movement not only to illegally resist the federal government, but to actually secede from the Union as a sovereign nation-state. The latter is heralded as the ultimate expression of ideological virtue.

The big problem I see with the Great Wall of Mexico, a real, unbroken, physical barrier, is that there really are ground dwelling critters whose existence depends upon being able to move where the food is. Going where the climate suits their lack-of-clothes.
A real wall in many places and a virtual wall manned by aerial drones and terrestrial sensors elsewhere should be fine.
Almost as good would be governments top to bottom that stood behind the letter and spirit of the law as it now stands… the “Wall” stands mostly for the failure of that in recent decades. I remember as a child the PSAs reminding all legal aliens to check in with the Feds and remind them where you are. Was that really that onerous?

It would have rolled eyes had Trump started explaining border porosity that could be limited by various means that included the latest technologies and deployed as terrain dictated to limit total illegal ingress to X people per year (my number is X=15K/yr). You could have heard snoring from the back rows and low attendance at the next gathering. Words like ‘WALL’ and ‘Mexico will pay for it’ (rather than the multitude of payment-in-kind alternatives) have to make do while on the stump in the hustings.
