[It is now clear that none of the news outlets and pockets of pundits given various persuasions understand what President-elect Trump is doing in staffing his administration and/or starting to coagulate his sometimes outrageous campaign rhetoric into the outline of actual policies. Those of us who looked behind his literalisms may now find ourselves a bit less surprised, but not by much. My hope is that he continues making his own way while successfully herding the very capable bunch of cats he has attracted, not all of whom agree with him on every point. He has purposely not assembled an echo chamber for the simple reason that he has to first study the swamp a bit before he accepts the various plans he will receive to drain its parts. The first lesson is that the swamp is a complex collection of mires any one of which could swallow an administration, and has so done in the past. gjr]

Remember all you lefty Obama fellators…..crisis deferred…..not averted! Sugar Frosted Barry O’s had eight years to bring the banks to heel but instead foisted a Dead on Arrival “healthcare” program written mostly by Nancy and Harry and their minions but with Barrys legacy forever stapled to it!

While the MSM and Leftist (again, excuse the redundancy) are still freaking out about Trump, he is placing his Administration in place. Most all have been proven to excel in their fields. Each has proven they know how to win, how to get it done. Leaders. Men and women of incredible accomplishments.
While the Leftists and Media are freaking out about Trump’s style, Dr. Rebane has picked up on Trump’s substance. Education, Health and Human Services, Defense, State, etc.
Christie got axed from the Transition Team because the Governor was bringing in lobbists and Establishment swamp things. He got fired and no severance package.
I would wager anyone that Trump’s inner circle will not be exactly the same in 2 years. Somebody will not be up to par and they will be fired.
Sure, I am not on board with everybody yet, but I will keep an open mind. A Goldman Sacs Executive at Treasury is what many Presidents have chosen for decades. If the Treasury Secretary has made a ton of money for Sacs, that was his job and he did it well. Now he will have a different job and he will excel, as an example. Better than pulling academics and know nothing’s out of academia with so-so track records like Timmy G, or Loretta Lynch and that Latinx Supreme Court Justice whose record as Solitictor General up against SCOTUS was 0-9. Straight from academia and a proven loser. Obama picked a low level so-so undistinguished company lawyer to head Justice, lol.
The Cabinet picks are of utmost importance because they will face a liberal ingrained bureaucracy that will oppose everything. Seemingly unmovable mountains. We need people at the helm who are not only problem solvers, but can tear down walls to get it down. Winners.
Least we forget, we need Cabinet heads that have the judgement to appoint great undersecretaries and form good teams. Leaders and winners excel in all their endeavors. Cream rises to the top.
Ben Carson lacks administrative experience, which is a legitimate concern. But Dr. Carson’s character will be a guiding light and already is an inspiration to millions. Not all insiders are bad, neither are all outsiders great leaders. Nobody will get everyone they want, but it is shaping up to be an opposition slaying team to get ‘er done.
Obama fired Gen. Mattis to please Muslims. Trump hired Mattis to kill jihadists. Either way, our nation has a long history of military leaders obeying civilian commanders, so I am not too concerned about military men in our gov’t. Whether walk of life, Trump is assembling proven winners who have overcome great obstacles.LikeLike

The swamp is a well known entity to many. Take the Department of Education. Please! The whole department is of now use. Toss it. Energy? Maybe a couple of small parts could stay but it can go too. Interior? Give the lands back to the states and get out. Who needs a BLM cop here on our local lands? And I think we need local control. Overhaul the Commerce Clause rulungs by the SCOTUS and get us back to the enumerated document. There is much more.

I am a follower of Dr Jerry Pournelle starting way back in the days of Byte magazine. He now has a blog and shares his thoughts on computers science, space, technology and anything else that interests him. Below is a recent observation about the Trump Organization. Richard is his son.
With Richard here we naturally turned to discussions of space. Richard told me of a meeting with an old friend, and I think one-time colleague (they were both Congressional staff members). His friend now works for Trump and is to be posted to an Assistant Secretary position where among other things he’ll write speeches for his Secretary. Richard joked about doing outrageous Twitter posts. His friend turned mildly serious. “Oh, no. I’m in Trumpland. In Trumpland only the boss is allowed to say outrageous things.” I thought about that. I’m still thinking about it.
I do not recall any senior member of Trump’s team saying anything outrageous, or even silly, either formally or off the cuff, while working for Trump. There must have been instances, but I don’t recall them. Trump’s people maintain Dignitas; that seems obvious now that I think of it; maybe it’s one of Trump’s less well known abilities.
I can recall some of the early contenders for Secretary positions saying some off the wall stupid things, and they were soon out of the running. Saying outrageous things must be part of Trump’s calculated strategy for disrupting the establishment. So many on the left seem to fall into his trap. It will be interesting to watch and see is any of his new Secretaries join the Twitter Storm.LikeLike

@11:19am
Russ, you are beginning to grasp the way Trump ticks. No nonsense from underlings and they are amazingly happy and reasonable, yet serious, life loving people. Watch The Donald as he reduces the feeble to stuffing cheesecake into their pie holes whilst The Boss creates the openings for the team to pass through to get er done. Planned chaos from the top to get the opposition off balance and keep them that way and looking in all the wrong places. Controlling the narrative and changing the narrative when necessary.
I am beginning to liken Trump to Barnum and Bailey. Great promoter under the spotlight, but the real show is going on by the supporting cast. And all the cast of characters have experience and know better than to ever not walk into the lion’s cage without a whip and chair. I say this affectionitly.LikeLike

Russ . . . are you seriously restating the quote, “I do not recall any senior member of Trump’s team saying anything outrageous, or even silly, “?
It seems like only yesterday Trump’s right hand gal was saying she could see Russia from her back porch. Or, “People don’t electhe president, God does.”
And where could we start with dearly quotable Dr. Carson? How about, “The Big Bang is a “fairy tale” and the notion of evolution was encouraged by the devil.” or his belief that Joseph built Egypt’s pyramids to store grain. And according to Mr. Wizard, Hillary is STILL hiding stolen children under some pizza shop.LikeLike

Water fall from sky must hit Mother Earth first or pay up.
“And where do we get the $14.8 billion? By taxing so-called “impervious surfaces,” anything that prevents rain water from seeping into the earth (roofs, driveways, patios, sidewalks, etc.) thereby causing stormwater run off. In other words, a rain tax.”
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/04/11/heres-whats-included-in-marylands-controversial-rain-tax-its-exactly-what-it-sounds-like/
But, but, but what if it rains more on one part of the county than another? It’s not fair!
Update: The rain “tax” has been repealed, kinda sorta….well, not for everybody, just for some here and there. . But the “fees” remain. What a surprise. Was it Shakespear that said the first thing you do in a revolution is to kill all the lawyers? If not, somebody said it. :).LikeLike

Looks like Trump and Gregory are out on a limb alone on this one
“Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) said Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump was wrong to deny that Russian hackers interfered with the 2016 election in the United States.
“There are 100 United States senators,” Graham said during a CNN interview. “I would say that 99 of us believe the Russians did this and we’re going to do something about it. … After this trip is over, we’re going to have the hearings and we’re going to put sanctions together that hit Putin as an individual and his inner circle for interfering in our election.”
The senator went on to accuse Russia of interfering with democratic elections all over the world.

Topic: Israel, that tiny country nobody cares about.
Ok, I have been waiting for weeks for someone to comment about Trump and Israel. Nothing to do with the Obama Administration yesterday at the UN reversing 40 years of USA policy. No, this comment I am referring to has not been discussed hardly at all. To me, it has Biblical implications. It was a statement Trump made weeks ago and he has repeated a few times.
That statement is putting the US Embassy in the Holy City of Jerusalem. Jerusalem, known as the 3rd most Holy Place to Islam, but known as the Holiess Place of the Jewish faith. Numbero Uno.
Moving the embassy from Tel Aviv to the Holy City of Jerusalem is a shock wave. The heart of the Jewish God has never been the tribes of Judah or Israel itself. No, the heart of Israel’s God is smack dab on Jerusalem and all blessing from the God to Israel flow forth from Jerusalem. Salem if you prefer. Trump’s announcement sent a big middle finger to the Arab world and sent an unprecedented signal of support to the Jewish Holy Land of Israel. Trump, in effect, said Jerusalem IS the capital of Israel.
Hidden yesterday in the UN resolution about Israeli settlements that Obama refused to block was buried language about Jerusalem being outside of Israel’s civic control.
Trump’s message to Israel and building the US embassy in Jerusalem is 180 degrees from Obama, who puts Muslims first and foremost in all things concerning Muslim-Israeli disputes.
The two state solution in Palestine (Golda Meir once remarked “There is no Palenstine”)
from the Arab point of view is a continual land mass from the West Bank to the Gaza Strip with the capital the Holy City of Jerusalem. Included is the Golan Heights. Yesterday’s UN decision inched closer to that view.
The MSM was screaming that Trump advisor Steve Bannin is an anti-Semite, a White Supremist, lol. Well, look who Trump chose to be our ambassador to Israel. One David Friedman, a rabid pro-Israel supporter if their ever was one.
http://www.sfgate.com/news/politics/article/Trump-s-pick-for-ambassador-to-Israel-has-all-10818915.php
Whether Brannon is an anti-Semite or not (those charges have been debunked), Trump is definitely his own man. The US Embassy in Jerusalem is a total game changer for US-Arab-Israeli relations. A biggie with Biblical proportions. Just one man’s opinion.LikeLike

Time to lay off politics Paul. It’s time to remind you the Trump election was the American right dropping it’s collective pants, so the GOP can kiss it’s ass. You know, the old guard “establishment”? So ” President elect so far out of touch with even his own party” statement holds no water.

Oh I’m not agreeing with you……what I am doing is chuckling mightily at your continued citing of the junior…or “bottom” member if you will of the senates “Ambiguously Gay Duo” as evidence in your ongoing case of election hacking. And frankly I’m a little surprised that an Out and Proud Libertarian like yourself isn’t thrilled that the president elect is “out of touch” with his party.
It certainly looks like he was “in touch” enough with the electorate to win the election….so there’s that.LikeLike

Todd, it gets worse the more you look at it for the Repubs in Nevada County In the June primary the total Dem vote for President was 22,150 the Repubs were only 15,114 that’s with 68.25% of the electorate, one of the highest in the State. By the way that’s 60% Dems 40% Repubs
There were 650 votes cast for third parties.

Todd, if you look at this interactive map of Nevada County Novelections you’ll find hat virtually all of Grass Valley, Nevada City and Truckee voted for Hillary. The large bron Trump area between Nevada City and Truckee only amounts to a total of around 75 votes cast despite it’s size. Trump does fake Penn Valley and the South County but that’s about is. NC is looking bluer every time I look at it.

This is sad, getting pathetic. Dr. Rebane, perhaps you should give Paul his own Sandbox and let him circle the barn there about pot and local issues in Quainty Town. Like, what’s Measure W and who cares a lick or even heard of W 50 miles from here? Or, come up with a new topic like Cabinet picks or The Union or some topic to take refugee in. Just a suggestion. It is painfully obvious that Paul is totally unaware of the hundreds of posts concerning the need to rip up the GOP and start anew. It all started with the Tea Party and what started as a spark turned into a prairie fire in 2016 and it is just beginning to really take off.
I got it!! How about a local issue only Sandbox….like games about who can even name all of some tiny county’s Supervisors or the name of Tiny Towns’ mayors and impotent stuff like that. At least it would keep the insanity in one spot. Boy, everlasting turmoil and frustration. It just don’t compute.

Thomas Sowell: 10 great quotes
1. “It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.”
2. “Socialism in general has a record of failure so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.”
3. “Much of the social history of the Western world, over the past three decades, has been a history of replacing what worked with what sounded good.”
4. “Each new generation born is in effect an invasion of civilization by little barbarians, who must be civilized before it is too late.”
5. “The problem isn’t that Johnny can’t read. The problem isn’t even that Johnny can’t think. The problem is that Johnny doesn’t know what thinking is: he confuses it with feeling.”
6. “The black family survived centuries of slavery and generations of Jim Crow, but it has disintegrated in the wake of the liberals’ expansion of the welfare state.”
7. “The welfare state is not really about the welfare of the masses. It is about the egos of the elites.”
8. “I have never understood why it is ‘greed’ to want to keep the money you have earned but not greed to want to take somebody else’s money.”
9. “No one will really understand politics until they understand that politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems — of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind.”
10. “People who enjoy meetings should not be in charge of anything.”He will be missed!

Lindsey Graham is also on the record that he doesn’t think the Russians actually affected the election outcome.
Paul, we’re still waiting for real information as to what the Russians actually did that supposedly threw the election to Trump, and if it was merely an act of giving Wikileaks actual emails showing corruption among the DNC faithful (and again, WikiLeaks actively refutes this), what does Paul think is an adequate response?
Spies spy. That’s what they do. No, I am not shocked (Shocked!) the KGB’s man at the top is spying on the DNC. Does anyone think former CIA director President George HW Bush was above reading Soviet Union internal mail? Or is surprised that Obama had the NSA tap Angela Merkel’s phone for years?
To keep your fake outrage going, Paul, you will need to eventually demonstrate cause and effect. Good luck wid dat.LikeLike

Can the whole election can be distilled down to something as simple as saying, “I love coal”?? You betcha.
“But millions supported Trump because he spoke to them. They saw what everyone else saw, and while Democrats and establishment Republicans were appalled, they liked it.
They like his unpolished demeanor. They like his outlandish promises. They like what he says about politicians, immigrants, Black Lives Matter activists, highly educated urban elites, and politically correct college kids.
Most of all, they like that he pisses off people they don’t like.”

From the same link above, Paulie and Hilary Hodges explained:
When you believe strongly in something, it’s hard to accept that most of your fellow citizens do not. Especially when you surround yourself with like-minded people, and get your information from like-minded media. But the evidence that a majority of Americans are eager to pay higher taxes, and give up their employer-provided health insurance, in exchange for a European-style welfare state is nonexistent.

When I stop hearing progressive democrats saying that Obama saved the economy while making no mention of the additional 10 trillion in debt larded upon the citizenry I’ll tone down my criticism of said supporters.
Acceptable Brad?LikeLike

While I certainly can’t claim to be much of a fan of Islamic society as it is presently constituted I certainly understand the impulse to not hold currencies of questionable worth. Dollar is strong now…..probably won’t be as by the end of Trumps term!
Looks like Islam is gettin while the gettin is good!LikeLike

Yep, that quote is from 2008 I believe. No, it had to be from 2008 right after McCain chose Palin as his running mate. Boy, Sister Sarah got smoked and dried like Alaskan salmon for that one. Lampooned relentlessly. I love that quote because I can now use it to alleviate the fears of one particular poster concerned the Bromance of ‘Trump and Putin sitting in a tree’ is not to be worrisome because Sarah is keeping an eye on them from her porch….whether she said backdown or frontdoor does not really matter. She has an eye out for Putin. 🙂
“The best thing about jomama” is a great line to use, albeit best when used most sparingly and strategically. Certainly sticks in people’s minds for some odd reason. Again, used to target one particular poster. A scalpel, not a broadbrush.
But, if you are growing weary of us drawing pentalty flags for excessive celebrating in the end zone, I must respectfully disagree. We can’t do the spiking of the ball thing because there has been an never never ending assault on our victory dance…FBI stole the election from My Gal, we are White Supremists, the recounts, the Russians…the popular vote, and I am sure there may be another burning arrow heading our way any day now.
Geeze Brad, all the celebration and dancing around the pole with Hillary’s head on it would have been all over and done by now…..but no, there is always that particular one who obsessively (and relentlessly) tosses cold water on our bonfire and ruins a perfectly good party chant of “Kill the Beast, Kill the Beast.” Thus, this spiking the ball in the end zone continues long after it’s scheduled time. We, sir, are the victims here, but are determined to do the victory dance until we can finally have a few hours of uninterpution. Is that too much to ask?
Take comfort that the mention (and memory) of My Gal fades into the mist of yesterday with each passing day. We be forward looking here. We have heard the laminations of their woman. No use kicking a dead mule.

I suppose waiting to see our enemies driven before us and drinking blood from their skulls will not ever happen due to one particular poster. One bad apple soils the whole party barrel. Take heart, we are moving on to the next game on the schedule.LikeLike

Great link! The one thing I got wrong on the election was I figured it was the optimum time for the rise of a third party. Both major party candidates unliked deeply…..perfect opening. That wacky Perot got 18% against Bubba and even Jon Anderson did well in his time..did better than Gary J and Jill S. Guess they lacked the personality. A little personality goes a long way. Yep, I really thought the 3rd Party would rise in 2016. Then again, Trump did suck all the oxygen out of the room, IMHO.
Exit polls I saw had the still undecided heading to the polling booths on Election Day broke for Trump 70-30 for Trump. Trump took your independents. Sorry. 😦
Look at the bright side. Rand Paul got more electoral votes (1) than Bernie (0) and Colin Powell did not even run and he got 3 electoral votes. Go figure.LikeLike
