[It is now clear that none of the news outlets and pockets of pundits given various persuasions understand what President-elect Trump is doing in staffing his administration and/or starting to coagulate his sometimes outrageous campaign rhetoric into the outline of actual policies. Those of us who looked behind his literalisms may now find ourselves a bit less surprised, but not by much. My hope is that he continues making his own way while successfully herding the very capable bunch of cats he has attracted, not all of whom agree with him on every point. He has purposely not assembled an echo chamber for the simple reason that he has to first study the swamp a bit before he accepts the various plans he will receive to drain its parts. The first lesson is that the swamp is a complex collection of mires any one of which could swallow an administration, and has so done in the past. gjr]

Todd, you deplorable you. I find the term White Priviledge offensive. It’s Caucasian Privilege. Albinos are white. I am mostly Caucasian, I think. Anyway, that is who I identify with…unless it is to my advantage to bring up my Lakota heritage on these boards. Jap is offensive and so is white. Japanese and Caucasian are what we use in today’s world. Thank you. Sincerely, Injun Billy the savage.
Guess some still judge people on the color of their skin instead of the content of their character. We have much work to do in 2017.

Billy Jack corn. Yes indeed. I can’t believe I liked that movie back in the day. It seems so hokey now, but just in time for Standing Rock. Looking at that hat on Billy Jack, reminds me of the first ex. She wore that hat….a lot….I preferred the bandana before the Cripts and Bloods make it cool. :). Yep, that was a so-so B movie looking from my vantage point in 2016. At least no one was stupid enough to like the sequel, then and now.

Best thing about that movie was the theme song. “On the bloody morning after, one tin soldier ran away…..”. Must of been a lib. 🙂LikeLike

I am just beginning. the fun is yet to start. Yep Trump won. Have I ever disputed that? You guys ( the 3 or four of you that participate in this blog ) are winners. My guy Gary Johnson lost. Let the games begin.LikeLike

Oh yeah, the “winners” don’t include Gregory. He’s a Johnson guy like me. We’re losers.

Interesting that for all your libertarian pretense you still seem to have a raging Obama mancrush.
It’s okay to be a democrat Paul…..a blue county….that what you’ve been celebrating since election day! Come out of the closet Paul…..wallow in it……your voting for Johnson isn’t any more convincing or genuine than if you had voted for Pat Paulson (Now if you can provide some sort of proof that you voted for Ron Paul I’ll reconsider my position)!LikeLike

I didn’t vote for Ron Paul last time around Fish although I support much of what he stands for. I voted for Gary Johnson. Remember I vowed I would never to vote for a Republican or Democrat in a national election.

PaulE 451pm – Is your “the 3 or 4 of you …” intended to slam RR? There are about ten regular debaters (including you) on this blog, which is pretty much what most blogs of this kind have (check it out). I have not counted the occasional commenter, but they also frequent here. The readership and the email communications are much more and sometimes overwhelming. Currently unique visitors to RR run at almost 10K a month. But no doubt about it, we are a small backwoods blog and grateful for the readership that visits us, I have claimed nothing more.
I suggest leaving the denigration to people like those on Team FUE, for they would surely welcome any contribution from you along those lines. But here let’s stick to debating the ideas and opinions that each of us hold dear; for that you have a large and attentive audience.LikeLike

I considered Trump a partial victory, as a vote for Trump was also a vote for a Scalia, not a Ginsberg or a Garland. But being a Libertarian means, as long as the 2 major parties keeps alternatives at bay, getting used to losing the contest. The winning is in the small gains the party makes while clawing its way from zero until there is a real shake up in the majors.
There’s still a possibility that the Dems will self destruct, if they don’t get a handle on the reality of what just happened. Time will tell. GOP can also destruct if they can’t accept that it isn’t a Conservative or Evangelical party.
On Election Day, I had a definite sense of dread that slowly lifted when, about 6PM I tuned into NPR’s All Democrats Considered, found it was already death watch, and knew the Newsom gun grab proposition would eventually be overturned. I knew the Trump and Clinton campaigns were in a virtual dead heat (by the USC/LA Times poll) and wasn’t terribly surprised.
All the melting snowflakes were a joy to behold… they have been horrible losers and would have been even more abysmal as winners.LikeLike

Happy New Year Global Warmers
Looks like the first full week of January 2017 is going to be cold in all 48 states. This cold is forecast to be widespread and persistent.
GFS model forecast surface temperatures for Friday morning, Jan. 6, 2017. Thanks to Weather Bell for the graphic impage of the coming cold, via Dr. Roy Spencer’s blog Global Warming.LikeLike

Indeed….and this is why I hauled my useless carcass to the polls to vote for Johnson (largely based on your arguments…..I’m generally completely happy not voting) to keep things going until a viable candidate with the proper set of circumstances presents him or herself.
There’s still a possibility that the Dems will self destruct, if they don’t get a handle on the reality of what just happened. Time will tell. GOP can also destruct if they can’t accept that it isn’t a Conservative or Evangelical party.
The Party of Entropy will always be with us in one form or another. They’re the democrats now…..later the rot will move en masse to the Greens…..and later still they’ll be some “Peoples Party” or something and at each stage they’ll get dumber and more strident!

I was oddly sanguine about the presidential race either way! I thought that a Hillary win would just cause the US to auger in quicker which would be better from my perspective! Reading some of the democrat post mortems have brought me around to your side…..that Trump probably isn’t what anybody of libertarian inclination would choose intentionally he’s still better if for no other reason than to put the most corrupt person ever to run into her political grave! The Supreme Court positions figure prominently into this! I still think that there is going to be a barn burner of a recession and that the republicans will bear the brunt of the blame but since we can’t stop it I guess they’ll just have to take their lumps!
All the melting snowflakes were a joy to behold… they have been horrible losers and would have been even more abysmal as winners.
The schadenfreude is delicious!LikeLike
