The Russian Hacking Pot keeps on bubbling without any clear resolution in sight.  Our Left laments Hillary’s loss, and is now relieved to have found a deep dark reason for it – Russia colluded with Trump to hack her illegal server and the DNC, put the damning emails in the public domain through Wikileaks, and thereby suck away enough votes to give Trump an electoral landslide.  Moreover, no matter how badly the emails reflected on the doings of Hillary and the DNC, since Russia is accused of ‘stealing’ them, their content should not have been allowed to become a factor in the election.  And Trump did a dastardly deed by encouraging us all to consider what was in the emails.

In the olden days it was the journalists job to dig up, cite, and publicize bad stuff on public figures; not any more.  Today journalists must consider how the bad stuff came to light before they report it to the public, since now they have a higher calling given that almost all of them are leftwing agenda driven.  Or should they?

All agree that countries should not seek to affect the outcome of other countries’ elections.  All with 3-digit IQs know that countries have practiced such interventions since forever to serve their national interests.  And in this case Russia is accused of doing that by revealing truth about the parties involved in the election.  But who are the accusers?

This morning NPR did another Trump hit piece by interviewing two ‘intelligence journalists’ – a senior NPR reporter and an academic – who were asked why no one knows who in our federal government is blaming the Russians, and why has there been no evidence cited or presented to support the accusation.  The ensuing discussion was again most revealing of the liberal mind.

It turns out that the best that can be done about supporting the report that our intelligence community has identified Russia as the guilty party is a surreptitious interview with a ‘highly placed intelligence official’ who is not authorized to reveal such information to the press.  This unnamed ‘Deep Throat’ was characterized as a brave individual who risked his career and perhaps more in causing the unauthorized leak.  The NPR journalist assured listeners that ethics did not permit her to reveal neither the leaker nor the evidence, but that she did her best to confirm what she had learned (no claim of confirmation, just best efforts), and therefore all should accept her reporting at face value because, after all, she is an ethical journalist.

Due to the recent history of journalistic malfeasance – aka incidents of lying and faking news – journalists are correctly held in low esteem by the news consuming public; actually their credibility is somewhere below that of politicians and lawyers.  Nevertheless, stiff upper lip and all that, the country is being asked to accept on the word of journalists that not only that the Russians did it, but also the follow on impact of what was done.

Now I have to admit that this tack may be as effective as that plied on the issue of climate change.  There are many dots between accepting that climate changes and that we should implement economy killing policies to reverse preventable catastrophic global warming.  The American public today assumes that all those dots are naturally connected as soon as someone starts talking about being a ‘climate change denier/skeptic’ or ‘accepting the overwhelming consensus of climate scientists’ on the matter.  In short there is no rational discussion of the issue simply because reasoning about it is beyond the ken of most people.

While the Russian hacking issue is not as complex, it nevertheless does include such arcane factors as ‘in the public domain’, ‘damning content’, ‘authenticity’, ‘journalistic standards’, ‘ethics’, ‘electoral impact’, ‘anonymous sources’, ‘US intelligence community’, … .  These are perhaps simpler dots to connect, but there are still too many of them for most folks to handle.  (This can be confirmed by some of the entries in the comment streams of recent RR posts.)

And finally to confuse the matter even more, we now have the surprising assertion by Fox News’ Judge Andrew Napolitano (here) that it was US intelligence that hacked the Hillary and DNC emails, and released them to Wikileaks which has not revealed its source for the purloined bagatelles.  In any event, the Left’s argument that involving those emails in the electoral campaign was akin to the purchase of blood diamonds is patently ludicrous.

[17dec16 update]  The Hillary/DNC email affair is getting stinkier with President Obama’s contribution at his yesterday’s news conference.  While the lamestream won’t touch the story of a former British diplomat claiming that 1) the emails were leaked not hacked, by 2) disaffected Clinton insiders, and the principal leaker was murdered last July in a mysterious early morning shooting where the motive was clearly not robbery.  Check out this video for the whole story and make your own determination of its verity and the sound of silence from the media (which could at least make a very interesting story out of debunking this and other such reports).

This Russian hacking story is just more lying distraction to keep us entertained. Why would the Russians not support those they’ve had such a good relationship for so long? For years the media always reported that Russia supported Democrats prior to Election Day. And look how well they like Hillary and Bill for helping their investment in Western Uranium deposits. In return, wasn’t Bill paid big money by the Russian investors for making a speech? Or was it altogether more fairy tale feeding by our forever fabricating media?

Any difference between the FBI and CIA have now been clarified. Does this satisfy you George
“Earlier this week, I met separately with (Director) FBI James Comey and DNI Jim Clapper, and there is strong consensus among us on the scope, nature, and intent of Russian interference in our presidential election,” CIA Director John Brennan said in a message to the agency’s workforce, according to U.S. officials who have seen the message.

There is a larger issue here. Over 1/3 of Trump meatheads (you know, those believers to whom Trump is always tossing the red meat to during his publicity tours) believe Putin is a ‘cool dude’ and we should like him (or don’t see any reason to dislike him)- because Trump said so.
Sure, he is former head of KGB – no problem.
Sure, he kills his opposition, political or otherwise – no problem.
Sure, no decision to hack, or otherwise infiltrate our country, would be made in Putin’s top-down administration without Putin’s blessing – no problem.
Sure, he is bombing the hell out of Aleppo and killing multitudes of non-combatants – no problem.
It it bliss to be a Trumper, I guess.

Difference between the agencies was never the issue. And the 1253pm quoted Brennan statement doesn’t specifically address the hacked emails. In fact, it’s more of the same pabulum from the intel agencies. But what may give people comfort is today’s Obama news conference in which he states that we have confidential evidence that the Russians did the hack. My remarks on journalists’ uses of anonymous sources stand.
re BradC 106pm – don’t know how such a sweeping description (e.g. “… cool dude …”) serves the dialogue here. What Trump and the 37% Republicans surveyed have agreed on is that Putin is a strong leader who has more successfully pursued/defended Russian national interests than has Obama for America. None have said anything about liking him or not, nor does anyone approve of his means and methods (also, he never headed the KGB but was only a mid-level functionary).
The point made re Putin is that we can negotiate with him much better than the horrible state of affairs into which Obama has mismanaged our relationship with Russia, during which we have lost on every count and Russia has made gains that were only dreamt of during czarist times. Obama is still a naif in international relations. To believe that we can now do better does not imply any of the things gratuitously listed by Mr Croul.

Listened to Obama’s press congerence. What a lying sack. And there is just a “assessment” by the intelligence agencies that Russia hacked the DNC and Podesta. No proof offered.
The most interesting thing he said though was this. They had the info months ago but did not want to influence the race. Now that seems fine except it did they say now. These people are worse than the Keystone Cops. So as far as the results of the election, Obama and his minions are the reason Hillary lost. You cannot make this stuff up.

Regarding the “poll” on Putin. Trump never said he liked Putin and wanted to emulate his governing style. He said the opposite. But fake news dispensers like Paul Emery twisted it into something else. In fact Trump said only that Putin was a strong leader for his country though he did not favor that. Paul, what “hacked” emails are you referring to? If it’s the WikiLeaked emails, they’re adamant that they were leaked by an insider, not hacked from the outside, and now we have Judge Napolitano outright saying they were leaked from a US intelligence insider.
So, what “hacked” emails are you referring to?
And, what in your wildest dreams do you think the current witch hunt about Russkie hacking will do… is it enough in the mind of Paul Emery to show there was Russian hacking and they favor Trump over Clinton to remove Trump from the oval orifice before he gets there, even if Putin had nothing to do with the WikiLeaked material, let alone Hillary’s ”
Obama has known about Russian (and Chinese and North Korean and Israeli and …) hacking for years and only after the Democratic Party folded did the alarm get raised. I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that might have something to do with wanting to ignore the top secret information on Hillary’s private, unsecured server having been compromised to anyone with the skills to look while Hillary was Sec’y of State… Imagine Putin getting summaries of all of Hillary’s emails while she was racking up all those frequent flyer miles for the Obama Administration.
I trust Putin to be Putin, I trust Trump to be Trump, I trust Pence to be Pence and I trust Clinton to be a serial liar. She lost, get over it.

Russians hacked something to ensure Hillary won the popular vote. Sounds like the Russians helped Hillary to me. They should have tried harder and she would have even got more votes in California..
Of course, they could not get into the RNC. They tried, but conservatives place a higher value on security and liberals place a higher value on somewhere over the rainbow. But, even if the Russians did get into the RNC, there was nothing to see.. just business communications and boring stuff. Keeping the trains running on time kinda thing.
Now, the DNC, well that’s is a different story. Oh, the wealth of dirt is unbelievable. The sleaze, the backbiting, the cover up, the corruption, the mud, the absolutely jaw dropping unethical behavior. Yum, yum, yum. Who could ever resist the hair tingling mountain of tantalizing unbelievable shenanigans and dirty pool that just was everywhere the Dems turned, went, and did. It was irresistible!
Can’t blame the Rooskies or anyone for preferring all the gumdrops of delightful decadence found on any DNC or even better, any Hillary’s Campaign Machine computer. Republicans are just too boring. Nothing to see there.
First it was the FBI that sunk her, then it was Fake News!, the let’s have a recount, next the Russians, then the Electoral College, then…….it can’t possibly the candidate herself. No, she got more votes than Bernie so it has to be anything but My Gal’s mug that stole the election from her. What a joke.

Todd, educate the man. Put Paul in a round room and tell him to go piss in the corner. Then grab his pussy.
Seriously, though. I will be good now.
Paul, you do know the difference between a hack and a leak, right? I wonder, but let’s clarify some of the terms just in case.
The NSA has access to all our fiber and beyond. Everything that passes across the fiber they can retrieve. Everything….if they are so inclined. That’s how they can catch anybody surfing child porn to making death threats.. Anything passing over the information highway can be traced. It is just a matter of will. The NSA knows who has been naughty and who has been nice.
But, downloaded stuff from a computer or computers on an in-house network (stolen as you would say) does not pass across the fiber. Just download copies and no one can trace it.
That is why people like me call them leaks. A mole, a plant in the enemy camp, a traitor, a thief, a Benedict Arnold!
So, I think most of the stuff was leaked. You say hacked. Ok, I will say a bunch of attempts from pimply mischeavlous teenagers to professional state sponsored hackers attempted hacks. When it comes to hacking, say, customer lnfo from UnitedHealthcare to BofA, that information is traded and sold on the “dark internet”. A kid could let you see his goods for 60 bucks for 5 minutes….up to hundreds of thousands of dollars for a couple of hours. The Dark side. Where infor is sold and traded.
Now, the press reported way back when that they got into Hillary’s private server through an opening found on Sydney Bloomenthal’s computer. Intel (FBI) said that there is a 99% chance that 5 outside entities were in there reading stuff, poking around, but ZERO evidence of a hack. No hack.
Remember that Romanian kid Lucifer 2.0 or whatever he called himself bragging about reading Hillary’s e-mail and state department stuff on lunch breaks then going back to work? He was in there, but taking nothing.
Look at Podesta’s “hack”. Fell for a high school level trick with that fake phishing alert. “Please put new password in now, Thankyou”, lol. Could have been a pimply faced teenager or a Bernie Bro or…..a Romanian or a even George W. Bush! Can’t believe they fell for that one. Told you Republicans care for security and safety issues (law and order)more than wheat grass sipping banana head liberals.
I think it was both a major leak and numerous daily hacking attempts by thousands of outsiders. A bunch of people got in.
The worms crawl in, the worms crawl out. It was Putin I bet. The Red Tide. Or, it was the Chinese behind the Bamboo Curtain…the Yellow Peril.
Think leaks. An inside job. It was probably Bill Clinton getting back at Hillary for busting all those lamps and crystal flower vases across his head. A man can only take so much before he snaps. Slick Willy is a sly one.

While the left is pissing and moaning about Russian influence in our election the Diplomad 2.0 has some thoughts to share on who is really interfering in our national elections.
Is there foreign interference in our elections? You bet.
The biggest offender? Not Russia, but Mexico. Mexican officials publicly called on Mexicans in the US to oppose Trump; Mexico’s over fifty–yes, fifty–consulates in the US (here) are hot beds of political activity and activism. Millions of illegal and legal aliens largely from Mexico and Central America vote, yes vote. We need to have an in-depth investigation into Mexico’s interference in our elections, an interference that goes well beyond revealing embracing texts from the DNC.
There. That’s an investigation the GOP should endorse, and the new SecState should take up the issue of Mexican interference in our elections.

The Diplomad does not buy the idea our intelligence community can assess the intent of Russian leaders to damage Hilary’s electability and boost Trump’s, they can only guess and in the past they have guessed wrong.
