Who among us could stand to have their each and every private utterance displayed on a klieg lit national billboard?  Donald Trump’s most recently revealed transgression is causing an affected coast-to-coast hyperventilation at an intensity that for some more sensitive souls may result in a medical problem.  Upon close inspection there is nothing in the Trump/Bush ‘tape’ that is untoward or unusual about what two heterosexual men may banter about the opposite sex in their private moments – the so-called locker room conversation.  Its extension beyond that illuminates the gender hypocrisy that now runs rampant in the land.

The decades long reports about both Bill and Hillary’s language in closed and private enclaves, heaving obscene vituperation on their staff and employees, is beyond of what Trump now stands in aghast and accused.  And none should be surprised if someone published a recording of such an incident about the Clintons.  But feigning politically correct surprise and insult is another matter.

This morning at breakfast Jo Ann looked up from the paper and said, “I’m not a bit surprised or insulted by hearing that Trump said those things in private to another man and close associate.  I have always known that men at times talk like that among their peers.”  What turns out to be the hypocrisy is that today we think nothing of politically correct women casually refer to men’s external plumbing in graphic terms when assessing their initiative, courage, and sexual prowess.  Today all such remarks can and continue to be given voice on/in the media with not a second thought.  But let such remarks be reciprocated about women, and all manner of histrionics are unleashed across the land, spreading like angry wasps pouring out of an inadvertently bumped hive.

So it’s not clear whether the lamestream and Team Clinton can build this latest into a campaign knockout punch for Trump, or not.  The chorus of Republican politicos is not helping by piling on as they try to shield their down ticket chances against what they perceive as the roiling mob of angry voters.  But for me the purposive legion of Hillary’s iniquities since her first unethical conduct during the Watergate investigation, and now unfolding in a flow of revelations about how she values voters, colleagues, staff, national weal and security, and competence in her profession (law, legislation, diplomacy, …) trumps Trump’s iniquities in a landslide.   Her existential ambition to let nothing block her road to rule sets the new gold standard in the American political establishment which Trump has yet to match.

[9oct16 update] As we await this evening's greatest show on earth and review the shocked, I say shocked, response of self-flagellation competition carried out in the GOP, RR must record that in the Rebane household we are forced to conclude that such Republicans are simply acting prissy – a most appropriate term that denotes conduct 'excessively proper; affectedly correct; prim'.

[later]  Trump survived to fight another day.

[11oct16 update]  I do believe that the discussions hereabouts have gotten so intense, I say INtense, that we need a little musical interlude to calm things down and put a smile on our faces again.  For that, and only that purpose, I offer you these little bagatelles (here and here).

Now to restore a bit of decorum, I want to give you the words of Congressman Tom McClintock (here) to demonstrate that not all Republicans ran for the hills when Team Hillary unleashed the carefully timed locker room monologue.  And there's more to be said about the notion that those of us seeking a third party candidate now have its poster child in Donald J. Trump.  The trouble with the developing split in the Republican party is that the Prissy Prude Faction may be left to start a third party if The Donald and Reince make off with the GOP.  Vaya con Dios!

[12oct16 update]  The Great Divide, of which we speak often in these pages, cuts our ideological populations in more ways than may be imagined.  As often reported here and experienced over the years, the Left specializes in impeding ALL free speech with which they do not agree.  During this election season, as in the past, signs promoting conservetarian issues and Republican candidates have been confiscated or defaced.  Yesterday the NC Republican Women Federated spent considerable effort with volunteers emplacing about 100 election signs.  Today they have either been stolen or defaced with a big red X.  These actions describe the Left in much more meaningful terms than do ideological differences.  And not only do such people live among us, our country is steadily advancing toward a new form of governance in which they will rule us with impunity as we have already witnessed during the last eight years.

[later]  We have heard for years liberals maintain that voter fraud, especially of the leftwing kind, is nothing but the unfounded figment of rightwing imaginations.  All that in the face of documented evidence which supposedly has not been litigated.  However, what the lamestream has assiduously suppressed is the conviction and dissolution of Acorn pursuant to its 2012 election stuffing of ballot boxes, as a result of which scores of Acorn employees were convicted with many serving jail time.  One wonders why everyone did not know that.  This sordid affair is being reprised today as the Indiana State Police raids the offices of Acorn’s phoenix 'Patriot Majority USA' that early evidence shows is carrying on the dirty work of its existential parent.  They are a different breed indeed.

Yes Paul, I am. Noticed that Hillary never once mentioned the Constitution when referring to her choices for the Supreme Court. What exactly does “I dream of open borders” mean to you? Our Republic was not designed to accommodate the whims of illegal entrants nor their choices, but rather designed to protect our sovereignty….as just one of hundreds of examples. Do you want us to submit to the whims of a faceless world court in Europe telling you what kind of content you can air on KVMR? I prefer to have our courts decide by our laws these kind of issues to use another not far flung example.
Paul, there is a huge difference with international trade agreements and having international bodies overturn our domestic laws and Constitutional preexisting rights. Trade agreements are one thing, sovereignty quite other. A minor example is the lawsuit the US faced when (some) trucks entering the USA from Mexico where subjected to vehicle safety brake and weight inspections by the CHP and other States’ safety concerns. A NAFTA thang.
Now Paul, tell me you have not read the European plan circulated the day after Brexit. It’s been out there for decades before and after Brexit. The plan and goals are no secret. Nay, they are promoted proudly. Giving a international unelected body the absolute authority to override all national laws of every country. Now, this should really get your attention. This includes laws that an individual nation’s courts have declared unconstitutional, and INCLUDING all local village ordinances. Suppose they say our little wonderful Celtic Festival is promoting racism or separatism or even some local ordinance concerning no bare feet on a city bus? Overridden by a foreign court or body.
We are a Costtutional Republic. If not, why even having a constitution or a Congress or even checks and balances? Why bother?
Not saying Trump is running on the issues I raised, aka, ” antii-New World Order’ as such, but is running on America First. America First. What I am saying is Hillary has a vision, a long held Ainsky ideology that is opposed to the concept of a nation of laws. She and her kind prefer to be a nation of men with more power and final authority concentrated in the Chief Executive’s hands for the greater good of the governed. Absolutel authority of men, not the Constitution. Statism. Tyranny. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
Not talking isolationism or absconding our responsibility as the leader of the free world. Saying we are a Constitutional Republic red by the prohibitions on government as clearly spelled out. A minor example would be free speech, which we both love. The 1st Amendent says that government is barred from jumping in. It does not prohibit any private sector employer or organization (like the NFL) from barring any employee from kneeling at the national anthem. They can tell Kap tomorrow he is barred from entering the practice field if they wanted to. Totally fine with that. What I am not totally fine with (nor you I assume) is government breaking out of its Constitutional restrictions.

Well the Libertarian Party but Gary Johnson does not have it this time around. The Repubs dumped Rand Paul early on because of his foreign policy which I support.
Trump actually speaks the language but is so terribly flawed as a candidate and has no institutional support from the Repub honchos who were just waiting for him to fall so they could reestablish the Pubber-Dempcrap alliance and ram through the TPP as soon as it’s convenient. Probably in about a year after Hillary wins. She’s the champion of the establishment.
Anyway the Repubs picked Trump and now have to live with him. No way he’s pulling out and now he’s turning on the Party . He never was a Republican anyway so he has no obligation to them. His last card will be to encourage a boycott of down ticket Repubs by his supporters which have more allegiance to him than the Repub Party.
Hillary will be dancing from here to Nov. It’s too late for an Oct Surprise because it’s a done deal at this point.
You didn’t seem to embrace my prediction that the “powers that be” would never allow Trump to be elected and well George that’s what happened.
the Republicans have no one but themselves to blame for Hillary being elected. Any average Repub would win easily.

Trump is still a couple of percent over Clinton in the USC/LA Times daybreak poll, and women haven’t been abandoning him in droves. In fact, by the USC numbers, he’s been gaining female support and she’s been losing female support in the last few days.
Trump has been wounded by the incessant coverage of every wart, no doubt about it. We’re in the middle of a media frenzy that smells blood in the water… that 11 point overnight gain. Really? And not a hint of it in the USC data? This is bandwagon politics at its most raw. Smells like Astroturf.
Now it’s gotten really nasty. Enjoy the show.

Paul, yes, Trump has a decent chance still. There’s a huge split between the USC numbers and the traditional polling numbers, which may well be a real indication that traditional polling is missing lots of Trumpers who may well be hanging up on them, or claiming to vote for Hillary.
Today, Silver has it for Hillary at 5.25:1. If you believe that, will you give me 5:1 odds? I sure would be happy to be on the hook for one bottle of your favorite hootch for five bottles of Lagavulin in the balance. Deal?

the Republicans failed to offer a viable alternative to Hillary who was anointed two years ago . Don’t blame me for not having a viable alternative, The failure of alternative political parties to catch on is because of the monopoly of the Democraps and Repubs so don’t blame me for the dilemma.

The failure of this great opportunity for a 3rd Party rise this election cycle falls on the 3rd Parties themselves and, of course, the voters. Is anyone as dumbfounded as I am that Johnson or Stein or their combined percentages aren’t north of 25%? I sure missed that call and “assumed” as a matter of fact it was a year for a 3rd and 4th Party to gain some traction. Heck, 3rd Party Alternative types from Wallace to Jesse Jackson to Perot did better and the widespread thrist/demand for change was not as great then as it is now. Assume: Makes an “ass” out of “u” and “me”. Note to self. Never assume. Johnson should be around 15% minimum, maybe 18%, but noooo! Blame the Establishment, blame the media, but….come on guys, the voters have not seen to break for Johnson. Bernie was as close as you got. Not bad, all in all.
I have to chuckle when this constant drumbeat of “blame the Republicans for Trump and the woes he brought on the Republican Party. No, not the Party. The “Party” went balls to the wall to stop him, along with the “Establishment”, the media, and the usual suspects. Trump ain’t no Republican. Heck, I would not be a bit surprised if he, like a couple billionaire businessmen I have met, did not even register to vote until 10 years ago. One is registered, but never votes and refuses to even discuss it, lol. That would be Trump 10 years ago. Who knows.
If it offers any consolation, Trump’s “grab the kitty” comments probably occurred when he was a Democrat, thus nothing to see here. 🙂
Another chuckle I get is when think tank elites, political pundits, policy experts and even amateurs such as us posters here talk about “normal” Republican issues like free trade, lower taxes, small businesses (excess regulations) personal responsibility, God, and pro Chamber of Commerce type of stuff. Hey, Trump ain’t a Republican. And then even moi goes off on conservative principles in support of Trump, but Trump ain’t no conservative either, lol.
Blame away. It’s the voters who are to blame. It’s me, a Trump supporter, who is to blame, not the media or the Republican Party. Blame us wild injuns who done left the reservation. We are salvages running amok, ruining everything and overturning the punch bowl.
I have no problem with anyone hating Trump or believing The Donald is Hilter/Stalin/Vladdy the Impaller/Lucifer Incarnate. No problem in the least. Oh BTW, the R Establishment already has called Ted Cruz “Lucifer”, so Trump can’t be Lucifer,
You still don’t get it, do ya? Trump is the only 3rd Party Canidate that has a prayer in this race. Love him, hate him, or tolerate him, he is the only chance to actually leave the Establishment with more than a bloody nose. As I heard this morning on my transistor Ray-Dee-O, “Trump is the only one who could ever get into these messes, yet he is the only guy that can get out of these messes.”
One of my precious offsprings, the fruit of me loins, is refusing to speak ever again if I vote for Trump or Hillary. So, I did what any good Trumpster would do. I told her I am voting for “that pothead”. She asked “Jill?!?!?!?!!!”. I replied, “No, not her, that pothead dude.” “Oh, Daady!” she cried aloud in joy and ran up and gave me the biggest longest hug I have had in years. Yes, I am a friggin hyprocrite. I am also a liar. Both Hillary and I say one thing in private and another in public. I am voting for Trump. But, that is not what my sweet little girl thinks, lol.
BLAME THE VOTER if Hillary wins. Blame me if she loses. Note to self: Hide my red ball cap next time she comes over.

How ever the populist masses did not select anybody that had a viable chance of winning in the election The Democrats offered no such option Trump was right it was fixed from the beginning For a example If Kasick would have won the nomination he would be ahead easily in the polls against Clinton at this time. The populist fervor r in the Republican Party created trump and the rest Will be history Ultimately this is all a hangover from the tea party scene of a few years ago that has completely lost focus

Paul @12:24pm. I disagree. John Kasick, a likeable fellow, is too moderate, too much in support of the agenda that CAUSED the revolt in the Republican Party. Do not confuse a state governor’s popularity on his own turf with his/her national chances. Hmmm. Mr. Dozer was hot and heavy over Gov. K after little Marco got creamed by Trump. Dozer suffered two broken hearts before he moved on to be good friends with some Turkish fellow. Heck, that Gov. of Maryland has 70% approval ratings there, but he is in a very liberal state and can only pull it off there.
Let’s see. We had Walker on top of the heap before the starting gate opened. Jeb Bush was the media’s chosen one. Rubio was our chance to drawn in the Hispanics. Everyone hated Cruz from both sides of the political party establishment aisle. Dr Carson was label extremist by the media and Dems from day one. Too Christian and soft spoken I reckon. I never gave that Texas Gov Perry a second thought, nor Huckleberry Hound from Arkansas, though if strongly believe Rockin’ Mike is a good man and fine person with executive experience. Yes, Gov Kaisick reminds me of Dennis K for some reason. Maybe the independents choice, not my choice. Like Dole, Gov K had his victories long ago and entered the race 10-15 years too late. Not the same guy. Times changed. He is good for Ohio and knows Ohio best.
Paul, sorry you where not given better choices or alternatives you approve of. Not! We play the hand we are dealt, win-lose-or draw. Go out there and make sure YOU get choices you can get behind next time. The perfect politician has not been born yet. If he/she exists, they are too smart to be drug through the wringer. Not for pussies I tell ya.
After the 2012 and 2014 elections, both parties did extensive soul searching of what went wrong. The Republicans saw the light why nobody liked them. They looked at changing demographics and figured that courting the Latino community with amnesty would be a winner. The new hip and cool and open minded Republican Party. Chamber of Commerence got on board. And no more talk of balancing the budget or the Constitution or abortion or any of that kind of talk that makes people hate the Republicans.
The Democrats spent some time soul searching at great expense as well. They said their problem was getting their message out. That’s it. They had the winning message, so it was solely a messenging problem. Policy or issues? No need to change.
Paul, call it that fearful word “populist” that ruint the R’s other preferred choices. Call it populist revolt. But, revolt against what? Revolt against the R’s new game plan…move to the left to be liked and popular, lol. No, the establishment veered left, leaving a huge vacumn. Like Syria and Iraq and Libya, nature abhors a vacumn. We revolted against anyone remotely resembling you would approve of. That’s the facts. So, brother, who are the real anti-establishment types now? My type. Go figure.

It is the biggest story of the day how the Republicraps have proposed two totally unacceptable options for President and there is nothing anyone can do about it. Two political parties controlled by special interests decide what options we have for President asking us to select what we think is the lesser evil. I think Trump is being brought down by a coalition of Republican and Democratic mainstreams who are working together to assure the powers that be that no upstart Populist will become President.

That’s near historic highs for Hillary, just below her peak (89) after the convention
Whatever Trump is doing hasn’t worked.

Oh my Paul Emery. Wiki emails say there is a conspiracy of the democrats, Clinton, The White House and the media to destroy Trump. Just like they did against a good man named Romney. The daily drumbeat is all against Trump while he has never held public offic and is not responsible for the political mess. So the ultimate outsider is being trashed minute by minute while Clinton gets a pass on everything. She is being shielded daily by th press. So I guess if he is behind in the polls we could guess why.

Opps Gregory. Sorry. I made another mistake. Must give credit to Brad.
Food for thought. Suppose Paul is right. Suppose the powers to be would never ever allow an outsider to be elected Prez? No hope? No chance? Paul could be right. We have embarked into unchartered terrority according to the experts, many of them bought and paid for.
I have said before on these pages that the Clinton Machine is bigger than the DNC and much much more powerful. The leaks just show how far and wide and high and deep the Machine’s tentacles reach. Probably the biggest most powerful apparatus this nation has ever seen, encompassing our government, both major political parties, press, media, and great powers and rulers from distant shores from every corner of the globe.
Then comes along Trump. He has no government corruption stains on his hand because he has never even served as dog catcher before. His bigger donor is his own wallet. A total outsider. A man of boorish mannerism. A TV celebrity whose claim to fame is telling people “You’re Fired”. Not warm and fuzzy. A billionaire in an election where income inequality was the pre-election hot button issue. What are the chances? Slim to none. The first time I heard Trump entered the race, I said within myself, “You’re kidding, right? What a joke. A New York lib running as a Republican?”
Full disclosure: I don’t do reality shows nor have any inclination to watch them in the future. Missed out on Duck Dynasty, Survivor, Dancing with the Stars, and thankfully The Apprentice. Did catch a couple eposides of American Idol in its first season cause the girls hogged the TV and I got overruled. I am the guy who took 3 TVs to the dump with no regrets, save Super Bowl Sundays.
Ok, what is the point. The point is along comes Trump, a person my gut reaction was a big thumbs down. No experience. Wacky conspiracy theorist. Bill and Hillary at his wedding. Polo Club type and Polo Shirt boy. Yuck. But, he is still in the race! 4-5 months ago if you told me he (we) would be within 10 points with 4 weeks to go, I would have got down on my knees and thanked my lucky stars. No way. Down 10 against the Clinton Global Establishment Machine in October? Improbable at best. You’re kidding, right?
Paul may be righ. No way can anyone ever get through the castle walls and knock the Queer off the Throne. Impossible. Or is it?
An outsider. Zero experience in running a campaign. Alone against the world. Just one man and a basket of Deplorables, racists, Islamophobes, rednecks, uneducated bitter bigots clinging to their guns and Bibles watching reruns of Mayberry RFD and Duck Dynasty. And Father Knows Best. Eking out a pitiful existence with one foot in the grave and the other foot on a banana peel. Obits already written and most just waiting for us and our kind to die off. We are impeding process. And we amuse ourselves by chanting “USA, USA, USA”. What a pathetic lot with a pathetic lot in life. And we prefer that Demagogue Trump to any real politician. Pretty much sums it up.
But, we are within 10 points in October, 2016. That could change in a week in politics. 5 points is nothing in politics down the final stretch. Hope burns eternal. In the history of US politics, this has not happened since Lincoln’s standing standing on a soap box. And Lincoln had experience and inspiring oratory skills. I say That’s Incredible (a long forgotten TV show). No one has got this close, not even Teddy and his Bull Moose Party. We stand proud and now I can see the whites of their eyes. And I see fear in their eyes. Charge! Full speed ahead into Infinity and Beyond. What are the chances?

I doubt Wikileaks will have any impact whatsoever on workplace related coffee retrieval issues.

Opps again. That is “knock the Queen of the throne”, not knock the Queer off throne. Excuse my typo. Most unfortunate typo I might add. Big Opps.

Isn’t this special. Hillary and Bill Clinton sent some babes to the Trump Tower today to protest Trump. Of course the three babes get more press than the 20,000 who turned out at Trump’s rally. But anyway, the Clinton operative, oops, “journalist”, sorry, asked one of the babes why they were there all dressed in black. I thought Ninja lovers. Anyway she said they were there protesting Trump because he was a sexual predator! Now as far as I know has never been arrested for that. But you turn out three liberals anywhere in America and the “press” is there to spread their BS.

Todd @ 3:10pm: You didn’t think they or us would just go softly into the still of the night, did you? This is politics. Bare knuckle fighting. No more being nice and mambie pambie mush mouth non-viritrol crap. Kindness has no place here, neither does fairness. Hitting below the belt is allowed. Expect more low blows coming our way. This is the fight to slow down the Progressive March to One World Order. It’s Maoism we are fighting and they are fighting like the Maoists and terrorists they are. We have smoked them out. We are past the point of talk and nice packaged focus grouped arguments. No more Think Tank talking points. Bring it on! 3 babes is all they got? Geeze, what a bunch of pussies. :). It’s gotta get real ugly. Hey, your mother wears combat boots!

Has Clinton ever been arrested for the allegations against him?
    Bill
I respect the passion you heve for your guy who wants to chance it all. I just don’t think there is a snowballs chance in hell that he will be allowed to upset the apple cart. The Republican establishment has turned against him as well because they woule rather deal with Clinton who knows the rules of the road. TPP is the big one that will pass under Clinton after some cosmetics. Remember how that was embraced by the Mainstream repubs (Ryan, McConnell etc as well as Obama) So you think for a minute this mega-trillion international deal would be DE-railed by a populist independent like Trump?

Paul E, both RCP and 538 factor in the 11point Clinton zoom coincident with the tape… that very possibly was an intentional fabrication as the 500 ‘voters’ were produced by a Clinton operative moonlighting as a pollster.
That 11 point zoom in Hillary’s favor was not mirrored in the USC/LA Times “Daybreak” poll (formerly the RAND Corp. Continuous poll) that four years ago was tied as being the closest poll to the actual election results. That makes that 11 point zoom smell real fishy… an attempt to fabricate a bandwagon for Hillary as a result of the Trump tape dump that they’d been holding for months for just the right time.
BTW, conspiracy to commit a crime is a fun one… what a real investigation would do is offer a limited immunity to a conspirator to see where it led. A Special Persecutor [sic] could have a field day with the folks conspiring to help Hillary delete the subpoenaed emails.

What in your view should be the odds at this time since you don’t accept the RCP of Silver odds.
By the way there will be a batch of new polls tomorrow AM that should reflect the news of the last week.

Paul, for the purpose of a bet at this time, I’m happy to accept the Silver odds. About 5:1. RCP betting odds shows 6:1, so if you prefer that one, I’d be happy to bet one of your favorites against 6 (count em, 6!) bottles of Lagavulin, a tasty 16 year old single malt Scotch that comes with a bit of a smouldering peat bog in every bottle. Yum. Available at Costco recently.
So, which do you believe? I’m agnostic on the odds.
