I thought that launching this forum a couple of days early would let us all do an orderly segue from bombast to abject denial that something more is needed than continuing the disaster of the last eight years. It will be heart wrenching to witness the description of a bizarre alternate reality in the public forum of Democrats. The heart wrenching part is recalling Jefferson’s ‘A nation ignorant and free; that never was and never shall be.’
So let’s start the comments and commentaries on what Crooked Hillary with her trusty partner Sen Tim Kaine will promise to do over the next four years. The convention in Philadelphia will be the greatest opportunity this year to experience the liberal mind revealed.
[23jul16 update] Besides the impending Wikileaks DNC emails scandal (yes, yet another one) it will be very interesting and instructional to watch how she will position her post-convention strategy. Smart money is betting that the $2B will be spent entirely on making Trump look totally unfit to lead the country, while spending nothing (pittance?) on pointing out Hillary’s accomplishments of which there are absolutely none. Nevertheless, the Great Society’s union schools have spent two generations preparing the electorate for this kind of campaigning.
[25jul16 update] Well, the Dems’ convention is off to a roiling start. But the real news continues to be that the Democratic Party has veered markedly to the left over recent years, a careening move that has only accelerated in this election cycle. The electorate in the large is mostly ignorant of such ideological nuances, and that is the problem.
This massive shift has been reported in the right-leaning media for some time now, but has been largely ignored by the lamestream that self-censors any reports of such migrations toward socialism and turns a blind eye to the same. So it is with some enthusiasm that I can point to leftwing pundit Juan Williams (who is also on Fox News) who writes in the 25jul16 WSJ a revealing analysis, ‘Clinton Won the Battle, Sanders the War’, how this most recent shift has come about. In there we read –
This is not your father’s—or even your older sister’s—Democratic Party. It is far more left-leaning than under Bill Clinton or President Obama. … Almost 60% of Democratic voters agree that “socialism has a positive” impact on society, according to a February poll by OnMessage Inc. and the American Action Network.
As I have maintained for some time, we are already beyond the tipping point in the destruction of our democracy, and this is just the latest corroboration that those with less wealth are happy to expand the use of the government gun to get more for themselves from their wealthier fellow Americans – ‘What’s my dollar doing in your pocket?!’ This week will be a most visible celebration of this ideological shift by those ignorant of how an economy generates wealth.

[27jul16 update] My take on Slick Willy’s speech last night is overall laudatory. It was one of the best speeches I have seen him give during his political career. The man has literally perfected his delivery to acolyte audiences – the panning camera showed many devotees with tears streaming down their faces as he pasted on layer after layer of bullshit to fashion for us a new Hillary who was literally born right there on that stage. The look on the face of Chelsea’s hubby told the real story of a Hillary so attractive, personable, sincere, smart, dedicated, … , all wrapped in a saintly aura that year after year would drive her husband under any good-looking skirt of opportunity.
The stuff Uncle Bill dug up from his wife’s career (even taken at face value) was strictly low grade ore, and a definite embarrassment to any accomplished politician with forty years under their belt. The omitted chapters of her life – Watergate commission, Rose law firm, Whitewater, Travelgate, Syria/Iraq, Clinton Foundation, Benghazi, State Dept emails, DNC emails, … – are more voluminous than the homey sketches placed before the country last night. This morning Donald Trump held a superb news conference that demonstrated how such an event should be conducted in a civil yet no-nonsense manner with a press that’s in the tank for Hillary. The way he answered the questions and what he said totally sucked the air out of this morning’s coverage of last night’s convention. In this he also displayed the kind of conversations he will have with world leaders sitting across the table. Trump also referred to last night’s ‘missing chapters’ and just let the remark lay there, knowing that not one of the lamestream lackeys would pick up on it. Their subsequent silence signed their sincere sentiments.
[27jul16 update addended] I type this with my puke bag handy. I cannot believe my ears at the double butt stupid stuff coming out of Fox News tonight. The topic is Trump’s invite to Putin (or anyone else) to release Hillary’s 33K personal emails if he has them. The Democrats are hysterically ballistic accusing Trump of “treason” in inviting a foreign power to “hack” Hillary’s emails and then “obtain” and “release” national secrets to the world. From the double dummies on the Left this is to be expected – not too bright, and they have political points to be make.
But what really frosts my external plumbing is that there are no Republicans nor Fox News pundits with working 3-digit IQs who have yet to point out that
- Hillary no longer has any private email servers with government stuff on them;
- Whatever anyone hacked from Hillary’s servers is now history; they already have everything they took, there is nothing more to take;
- If the 33K “private non-work related emails” have been hacked, then the information in them is already known to the bad guys, there is nothing more to release to the bad guys;
- But the Democratic candidate for President has sworn that what she purged from her emails, in contravention to the demands of government investigators, was strictly personal and not work related, then releasing Hillary’s yoga scheduling and wedding planning crap now would never include the release of classified information.
- If the Dems insist on pursuing Trump, then they are more than tacitly accusing their presidential candidate of perjury, obstructing an investigation, and possibly committing treason herself for not divulging to our government what secrets she released when – not including that she did not follow the rule of law and voluntarily turn over all of her correspondence to the Dept of State without having to be subpoenaed.
But no one in the country seems to understand this sequence of events and the logics of the conflicting narratives. What to me is the most nauseating is that Fox News does not have the brightest bulbs on its A Team; even Brit Hume and the vaunted Charles Krauthammer cannot connect the dots on this one. We are lost.
[29jul16 update] “U.S. GDP Grew a Disappointing 1.2% in Second Quarter Economic growth was well below expectations; cautious business investment offset robust consumer spending.” (more here) The data out today continues to give lie to the piles of horse pucky shoveled out from the Democrat convention this week about their (non-existent) economic recovery. And Hillary topped off the pile last night in her vain attempt to present a more honest and likeable candidate who nevertheless promised to lead us into the next four years of doubled-down Obamanomics 3.0 at the same time paring back liberties in every sector of our civil life and replacing them with tax increases to fund new spending programs accompanied by untold stacks of new regulations governing everything that we may wish to do, say, or think.
