The Dems’ sit-in on the House floor now feeds banner headlines across the land, appropriately and gratefully sown by the lamestream that was feeling more than helpless in reporting on the causes and portents of homegrown, ISIS inspired Islamist terror. The gun control measures again demanded by the Left have nothing to do with what happened in Orlando, nor would they prevent such future attacks in our homeland.
The purpose of the theatrics is simply to not let any useful crisis go to waste when it comes to disarming law-abiding citizens. Its extra benefit to those who must support Team Obama and its rump-in-waiting Hillary is that attention has been successfully diverted from a disastrously failed foreign policy and a still flailing homeland security policy.
The president and his AG admit they can’t figure out what motivated Omar Mateen. The answer is simple even if you posit that the Muslim radical had personal LGBT problems which set him off. Accepting that, it remained the over-whelming pull of ISIS and its radical Islamist call that gave the raghead the critical mass of motivation needed to massacre the nightclub’s customers, and be elevated to heroic martyrdom by hundreds of millions of Muslims worldwide.
In the meantime Speaker Ryan and the Republicans released their detailed plan for replacing the ever-growing national disaster of Obamacare (more here). The plan has a chance for passage given a Republican president next year, and in any case its public examination would confirm that much better alternatives to Obamacare are available. Also its advent has been decried and also anticipated by the Left for their stated purpose that it would then be shown to be inferior to their own much muddied and mangled national healthcare law passed in the dead of night. However, as usual the Left finds itself defenseless in the arena of ideas, and therefore avoids going there at all costs. Parking their butts on the House floor to protest some ineffective non-sequitur initiative that diverts the national attention is just the well-practiced ticket as taught by Alinsky.
