‘We have met the enemy, and he is us.’  Pogo, 20th century philosopher

George Rebane

That observation has long been repurposed from its original context by pundits of various persuasions, none more consistently than by the elites of the Left.  I posted ‘The Liberal Mind Inteprets Florida, etc’ to elicit a broader discussion and illustration of the schizophrenic mind of today’s Americana.  The recently joined reader is encouraged to peruse the extensive comment stream following that commentary which itself provides a structured perspective of the contributions to come.

As most students and even casual observers of our socio-political scene quickly realized from the national post-Florida conversation, we are mainly of two minds.  Those of the various conservetarian hues see the massacre as another chapter in the ongoing war between fundamental Islam and western civilization.  Our enemies in that war consist of the various regiments of rapacious ragheads, their widely scattered brethren wannabes (e.g. Omar Mateen), and the ‘peaceful’ Muslims – states and private actors – who harbor and husband them before they strike.

That is not the case with the west’s socialists and specifically with their progressive element.  These people long ago concluded that our world’s existential evil issued from western civilization and continues to do so to this day.  The world’s current Islamic wars and massacres are the direct fault of the Great Satan (aka the USA).  Had we left well enough alone, the Muslim world would be a community of nations enjoying their own unique pursuit of happiness in lands of compassion, milk, and honey.  After all, they do share a common faith in Islam, that great religion of peace.

According to this mentality, it is primarily the words and actions of American Christians (Europe long since abandoned Christianity for secular humanism) that piques the ire of the otherwise sedate and sagacious Muslims.  And that is why they take special joy in being able to exterminate Christians and those living in still-deemed Christian lands.  The killers are the most devout followers of Allah, readily willing to sacrifice themselves daily to carry out his will.  Our progressives take the further step of denying them even the consolation of their martyrdom by repudiating their loud claims to act in the name of Islam – after all, in the west we have always known better what those dark skinned towelheads are thinking than they do themselves.  Of course, the Islamists correctly interpret such hubris as just the latest expression of the west’s much detested and enduring colonial mind.

However, for us in the west, and particularly in America, there is an underlying theme at work into which ‘the enemy is us’ plays – globalization.  To the progressive mind the outlined American iniquities reinforce their almost two-century-old need to create one global state.  And the biggest impediment to that is a vibrant, viable, and free United States.  In this context, the Islamic wars are seen by these collectivist elites and their local lackeys as the most recent crisis not to be wasted in the pursuit of such a future.

Across this chasm, the conservetarians view a global government as the worst of all possible ends for human kind.  They hold with Mickelthwaite and Wooldridge that “the lesson of history is that when countries compete to produce better governments, they tend to raise standards.” (The Fourth Revolution: The Global Race to Reinvent the State).  This is another way of recognizing that monopolies – especially in governance and commerce – inevitably give rise to human pain and suffering.  Our Founders knew that and did their best through our Constitution to give us federalism which is the perennial prime target in the cross-hairs of the American Left.

I see you’re still stuck on describing the terrorists as “ragheads” or “towelheads.” I thought by now you’d understand that there is a good percentage of the Walking Stupid that will gun down a Sikh, thinking they are doing something patriotic.

Barack Hussein Pogo states, “we have met the enemy and they is you”.
Yes, Crabbman, Rebane shows no sign of dropping the “raghead” epithet, thinking his personal definition that it only applies to a narrow subset of men who wear similar headwrappings absolves him of any wrongdoing. It is his loss and ours.

Gregory 117pm – Nowhere have I written or implied that ‘raghead’ “only applies to a narrow subset of men who wear similar headwrappings”. My definition as an ubiquitous pejorative has always been more inclusive than that and even applies to a broader set of Islamic killers who wear no headdress at all. I’m sorry I haven’t made that clear enough for you to understand. Otherwise thank you for your support.

Boy, both Obama and that woman, Ms. Clinton, came out on the wild defensive today, using the exact same words, being hyper sensitive to words spoken by Citizen Trump. Both said that just by uttering the forbidden phrase Islamic Terrorism will make Islamic terrorism go away. Trump and I never said calling the ragheads’ actions Radical Islamic Terroriism or Radical Islamic Extremism would make the problem go away. What a fantastic diversion!!!! Pure politican’s genius and hogwash.
Now, let’s divert the attention of the those who lust after one world control (progressives, socialists, democratic socialists, pinkos, totalitarians, Libbies, and Islamics) from their agenda by getting stuck on raghead. Brilliant. Pure genius. Great diversion.
National sovereignty is bad. Saying raghead is bad. Agenda 21 is good? Oh yeah, it’s for World Peace, which is good. The rest is a small price to pay and comes with the terroritory. Brilliant.

To all: Several times over the years I’ve invited readers to suggest a pejorative equivalent to ‘raghead’ that can be used to express disgust in and describe the radical Muslims who are our sworn enemies. Since, the response has been nil, ‘raghead’ continues to be the term of art as I have defined it. More sensitive readers may map this into ‘militant’, ‘terrorist’, ‘jihadist’, ‘radicalized Muslim’, ‘warrior of Allah’, ‘combatant’, ‘workplace violence perpetrator’, ‘alleged shooter’,…, take your pick.

Todd, there was that one incident maybe 2 years ago when some yahoo mistook the ragheads for the diaper heads. Diaper heads are cool, ragheads are not so cool if you are a woman, child, or even a male.
I prefer the term “bush rats” per my younger friends who served in Desert Storm, Desert Shield, and the recent bunch who are serving over there. They said “I will fly 10,000 miles to smoke a camel.” When I quoted that phrase without giving credit, the guy over at the Scooper went off his rocker. Must have been the shock without the awe. Live and learn.
A few prefer the term “camel jockeys”. It’s a good term without referring to the headdress. Brings back those swashbuckling normal scenes of LawRence of Arabia. I like “bush rat” which was also used in the Disney children’s movie Aladdin. But that’s just me. Don’t think calling them suicide vest wearers “desert blooms” or “refreshing oasis” quite captures their inner beauty. One solatary vote for “bush rat” here. It’s better that goat humpers or Arab Porn Addicts.

Are you people serious or just trolling? If you can be botherred, Google “Sikh hate crimes”. Just the number of articles published in Huff Post (simply the first hit) should be enough to make you rethink lumping “rag heads” into a single group upon which to vent your rage. Of course that won’t happen because if you cared you would have already looked for collateral damage before inciting more of your own.

jon, everybody knows the difference between a diaper head and a raghead. Nobody lumps them together. Ragheads murder unarmed senior citizens, Christians, children, and always one another just for kicks.
Diaper heads are truly a nice well mannered polite and never pushy or demanding threatening bunch. The Sikhs are welcomed and are industrious, always respectful of their fellow human beings. Never. The diametrically opposite of Sikhs are the sand crabs we call Ragheads. You know, Islamic Main Stream Terrorists. Don’t have to use the word “extremists” because they do not see it that way. Killing queers and gays and adulteresses is righteous to the Ragheads, but not to the civilized cultures in the 21 Century such as The West and the Sikh diaper heads. There are good immigrants and then there are the rest of the human debris…..you know, Goat Humpers.

Regarding your need for a handy pejorative, I think what you may be flailing for is “sand n*ggers” but I hope you resist any temptation to try it on for size.

What I find interesting about the term “ragheads” is the angst it give people. A blog is in my view (as I have one too) a place you can vent your “stuff”. Maybe we who create them don’t give a rat’s ass if we say things that are not PC. “Ragheads” simply means a Islamic-fascist who wears a piece of “table cloth” on his noggin. Just as those people who are trying to murder us, they have their oen terms for us so the never forget. Like “The great Satan” for every single person in America. There are others of course. Point is, who gives a shit, are we by using the term (I don’t) pissing them off for PC ? I hope so. But weak kneed Americans of the PC brand would rather not insult those head choppers I guess. What a weird society.

I thought everybody knew the difference between a raghead, diaper head and a towel head. Guess not. Towel heads like Hezzbulah, which the American shooter of young people in Orlando does not like. Yep, you got Sunnis and Shi’tes and rebels and freedom fighters and ISiS now named ISIL, The Muslim Brotherhood, kids doing the Watusi (but not in Saudi Arabia and not for many moons) and Poco Harem and Knights in White Satin….if does get rather confusing.
Why don’t we call the ragheads Islamic Terrorists? Simple enough. Opppps, Obama and Hillary and DHS has banned that term. Darn. Ok, raghead is close enough, unless you are talking about the towel heads, not to be confused with the only good ones of the bunch, diaper heads and Hindus and Budda babies. Towelheads are the Palestinians …..but which fraction of them are the true towel heads? Ah, forget the term towel heads. Nobody talks about the Palestinians anymore, unless you happen to be on a UC campus. How about the Talking Heads? Nah, the media already took that label. Oh, what to do, oh what to do.

I too received an email from our designated reader this morning. It appears that our local leftwingers continue to reach for inconsequential straws as a cover for the inability to discuss the real security problems that America and the west have with the growing population of radical and radicalizeable Muslims, especially those living among us. Additionally, there is additional evidence that the reading skills of our local Left have plummeted from their former lows. No one here is “debating the irrelevancy” of this blog or the topics we have the mettle to tackle with our progressive neighbors whose ideas are always welcome.
And yes, here we do take each other to task on our expressed ideas irrespective of our ideological bases. I am honored that RR has an extensive coterie of regular readers and commenters who bring their divers views and keep us from being an existentially irrelevant echo chamber for unassimilated coastal progressives here to colonize and fundamentally transform another community steeped in the heritage of traditional America.
