George R 9:44am yesterday,
Your statement is factually incorrect regarding Newmont’s activities in GV. It was rather an underfunded penny stock company that attempted to fool the people and city of GV. Ran out of money and is now desperately trying to sell off real estate to stay afloat, month to month.
There was never a lawsuit filed to stop any activity. Yes, there was a wide ranging coalition of opposition from locals, but the biggest problem is that no serious outfit was ever interested in trying to open up that long shuttered mine of low recoverable value today. If you want to study a great example of a modern mining fiasco, take a look at the heavily touted Sutter Gold Lincoln mine down in Sutter Creek. Sailed through every local, state and federal permit, raised millions of dollars through heavy salesmanship, early investors bailed, everyone else found out the hard way it was a total bust. The gold numbers were inflated. Its now dead. Many lost their shirts. No one wants it repeated again. As I said to Walt, time to move-on. Thanks.LikeLike

Walt
As far as mining is concerned mining is legal. Pot growing is not. Miners need permits. There are no permits for pot growing. That answers that question.

Newmont “jon”? Better try again. As for your other “facts”,, “low recoverable value”? Proves you don’t know squat. Better find another source other than some anti mining loonie bin. The only thing Newmont is doing is building a water treatment aria. Your not just barking up the wrong tree, but the wrong damned forest.
Again “smart guy”,, lets see how well you know history.. AGAIN.. What closed the mines?
If you don’t have a clue, boy up and say so.
Paul. Great question dodging as usual. The one “property rights” bandwagon you ride upon. Dope growing. So when (and if) you can,, just where are you going to sell it, when everyone will be trying the same thing? Why should “I” buy your dirt weed, when I can just as easily grow my own? You have yet to even address the drug free workplace laws. Those won’t be repealed. Vary few will hire a doper.LikeLike

JonD 751pm – That a particular company’s shares are a “penny stock” does not mean it had little money or has spent little of it in its operations. Is it not true that Newmont owned a part of Idaho-Maryland? And in my 944am the reference to lawsuits was as a general weapon against private industry that is accused of some environmental harm, not particularly used in the Idaho-Maryland case. Although, lawsuits were threatened throughout the company’s recent history in GV, that I was personally told by the mine’s manager.

Dr.R , Newmont, as far as I know played no part in the Idaho Maryland endeavor.
Newmont owns the mineral rights to just about everything else under Grass Valley.
I’m surprised they have claimed the water in the tunnels and sold it off yet.
Some judge has already said that’s the case, with the GV sewer plant fight.
With over 300 miles of tunnels, that a LOT of water.LikeLike

Walt is correct.

Heres a helpful hint re: jon…….whenever he concludes a post with “thanks” he is either really upset because he’s just been made fool of or just dropped another whopper on the thread.
thanks.LikeLike

You really don’t know what you’re talking about. You get confused as to who said what when you’re all worked up in a lather.
Thanks.LikeLike

Thanks.
No, no…..thank YOU.LikeLike
-
BTW,
Although there have been no lawsuits in recent Nevada County mine proposals, one would tend to expect lawsuits when mining operations are slated for populated residential areas, anywhere in America. Yes, lawsuits on behalf of people expressing their property rights.LikeLike
-
Sorry “jon” you once again show us your ignorance. Property rights are being honored. Read your deed. The mineral rights after 100 feet down are usually owned by someone else. Except for the water in the well. So please, do some research before you spew your ignorance here.
Thanks!LikeLike
-
Nope, sorry Todd, if there are tangible impacts to one’s property, unmitigable impacts, under CA and Federal law, the legal arguments definitely kick in regarding property rights. And yes, including the water in the well. Without even realizing it, you’ve stumbled upon one of the property rights argument Todd. Good job! For further help, you may want to consult one of the dozens of good enviro lawyers who specialize in this field.
thanks.
PS. Please help out your friend Walt with his reading comprehension. Please explain to him that you have to read the original referenced comments to understand the debate. He’s having a tough time with that..LikeLike
-
“jon” you are totally ignorant of this issue. I am a expert in this and you are not. Perhaps some consultations with a real estate attorney could help you with your ignorance.
ThnksLikeLike

LOL. Not exactly Todd..:).but if it gives you comfort to think that, go for it..

“Jon” from above, No problem, if you need instruction on property rights I can give you some people to get you educated out of your misconceptions and ignorance.
Trump does not have sheep followers as you are and do with Bernie etal. Trump attracts individuals, with clear thinking. Unlike you and yours, we won’t leap off the cliff when told to do so.
ThanksLikeLike

I can certainly picture you at an event very similar to the Trump rally at some point in the past….waving your Shepard Fairey designed Obama Youth League banner…..you smartly attired in your“Junior Anti-Sex League”“Organizing for America” sash and short pants.
Jon, have a great time at the Obama event today. I’m sure he’ll throw out plenty ofred meat“Hope & Change”™ to his flock of sheep..get you boys (of all genders and orientations) and girls (again of all genders and orientations) all riled up! HEALTHCARE, HEALTHCARE, HEALTHCARE! WOOOOOOOO!LikeLike

Please Todd- don’t let out an old college chant: Trump U, Trump U, Rah Rah Rah!
Drumpf is bound to a bit sensitive about his fraudulent school of “learning.” Could get testy down there.LikeLike
-
Oh, and Todd, please don’t question Drumpf’s claim there is no drought in CA. All you clear thinking, independent minded Drumpfers know the truth, but please whatever you do, don’t question that!
Remember- THERE IS NO DROUGHT. THERE IS NO DROUGHT..LikeLike
-
I tell you Todd I don’t know how you do it……popular with the ladies…..and evidently with progressive men. Michael obsessing over your TSA scans, jeffery absolutely preoccupied with you, and now our own little jon dozer only….has …..eyes….for……you!
You da MAN!
PS: While little jonny is railing against Trump supporters you might want to remind him that in a recent poll 71% of democrat voters said that Hillary should run even if indicted (full disclosure – I’m supporting “Our Gal”) on felony charges.
Should give you some idea as to how honest, clear thinking, and independent minded democrats are.LikeLike
-
Fish, I am a little worried about these progressive fellas like Steve, Pelline and now “jon”, oh and MA. They seem to have a tingle up their pant legs when they come here to chat. Oh well, what is the old saying, progressives, where the men are women and the sheep are nervous?
Trump makes “jon” mad because he is teaching what “jon” does not know or understand. Success. My guess is “jon” s one of life’s losers and is simply jealous! LOL!LikeLike
-
And as always,
ThanksLikeLike
-
That’s right Todd. I certainly don’t understand how even a lunatic like Drumpf can claim THERE IS NO DROUGHT in CA.
Continually stating the opposite of reality is not normally a virtue, except for you and the Drumpfonian minions.
I do hope he throws in some racial commentary down there about “Mexican judges” and “Mexican” plaintiffs in his Trump U lawsuit. He’s not even attempting to hide his racism anymore. But best of luck navigating through the protesters. Don’t forget to ask Glenn Beck for his autograph (for Walt) when you see him.
I remember that Walt is a big fan of Beck’s…LikeLike

Fish @2:38 pm
This is no time to panic. She will prevail. She will overcome. Dems are a fickle lot, highly emotional types who make major decision based on hysteria. Its all good. Things are exactly how they should be at this time. The Dems will calm down. In the meantime, therapists are working overtime. They are even telling those with panic attacks to wait under the couch for their turn.
To help you achieve that which you not so secretly lust after, I will help you out, I will take that old bag sitting on top of the pile. See, I’m with Her, our shared gal.

I may need to dry my tears……a Shotgun Joe Biden administration has the potential to bring just as many Lulz as a Hillary Clinton administration.
“The most likely scenario is that Vice President Joe Biden—who has said that he regrets “every day” his decision not to run—enters the race. Mr. Biden would be cast as the white knight rescuing the party, and the nation, from a possible Trump presidency.”

Fish again @ 2:38 pm again.
From Fish’s link comes a description of that anal cavity jon, aka, jon smith before he morphed into Jon Smith, not to be confused with the boar killer and bacon eater Jon Smith. I must say I am glad that jonJon has stopped coming by here. He is probably seeking even lower companions with whom he sees eye to eye…there are millions of his kind. Glad he hadn’t vomitted on this site for awhile. Anyway, enough of jiz lips. Here’s Jonnie!
“Democrats face an unnerving possibility. Only a month or two ago, they were relishing the prospect of a chaotic Republican convention, with a floor fight and antiestablishment rebellion in the air. Now the messy, disastrous convention could be their own.LikeLike

I don’t think “jon” needs to worry about property rights. I doubt he owns any.
It’s his landlord that should be up on things.LikeLike

Mr. Walt. Just change the hahaha to LOL (and occasional smiley face) and you will sooner or later realize that you are engaging with a toxic person. The best way to avoid toxic people is not to play with them. Yes, it is difficult at first, but a joy as each day passes. Try it, you might like it.
