[I believe that Trump did himself irreparable harm in last Saturday's debate with his extraordinarily boorish behavior toward Bush and Cruz. His follow on interviews over the weekend gave clear evidence that he is more than a bit panicked about his campaign, as when he had to also claim that the RNC stacked the audience against him. The latter allegation let him drop the threat that he may now become a third party candidate since he is "not being treated fairly." I'll go out on a limb and predict that he is now at his zenith, and from here on it's all down. gjr]

Walt, Boardman posts just once a day about the same time. He don’t hang around for follow ups. He will be back, but don’t know if he is just a Mon-Fri guy or not. Kinda like Jon posting after Mommie cooks his supper and he dries the dishes. Then he has to wait for her to go buddy-bye night night so he can get on the computer without her catching him. That is followed by some relaxation and liquid courage before posting here. Boy, he surprised me with his early hit and run today. Must be the rain or Mommie was visiting Aunt Sybill who got the lampshade stuck on her head again.
. Jon really likes to engage you, Walt. Guess you are not one of the angry bitter clingers he tries unsuccessfully to shame. :). So does Mr. Boardman. Boy, like flies on…on…flies on honey.
Oh, this is too rich to post only once.

Lest I forgot: Do you have any idea how many labor contracts are tied to the minimum wage? Like 3 times minimum wage is standard. Once had a roommate in Toronto via Hong Kong whose wage was a nice round ten times minimum wage . That was when the drugs and booze worked and before Canada deported me, but I digress.
So many labor agreements and contracts are tied to the minimum wage it is mind blowing. Even some municipality/ public service contracts.
Ever wonder why hundred or sometimes thousands of union skilled workers are out in the streets demonstrating with and for the cause of those po folk slaving at minimum wage? It ain’t because they have big bleeding hearts and care about income inequality.LikeLike

The Chinese just announced that they are imposing online censorship for all foreign companies who want content behind the great firewall of China. If you want to put anything online it must be approved by the propaganda bureau. This the day after we find out they have long range anti air on the disputed man made islands. Do they need to clamp down because they are going to do something they don’t want their folks to know the truth about? In the best socialist style when the world woke up to the new anti air gear they say America is militarizing the disputed waters. First comrade Putin and now China is going the lebensraum route just like the Nazis.

I’m not paid enough to teach you “jon”. It’s time you figure some things out on your own.

A testimonial for the “jon”
When LaRonda Hunter opened a Fantastic Sams hair salon 10 years ago in Saginaw, Tex., a suburb of Fort Worth, she envisioned it as the first of what would eventually be a small regional collection of salons. As her sales grew, so did her business, which now encompasses four locations — but her plans for a fifth salon are frozen, perhaps permanently.
Starting in January, the Affordable Care Act requires businesses with 50 or more full-time-equivalent employees to offer workers health insurance or face penalties that can exceed $2,000 per employee. Ms. Hunter, who has 45 employees, is determined not to cross that threshold. Paying for health insurance would wipe out her company’s profit and the five-figure salary she pays herself from it, she said.
At present Hunter does not.LikeLike

Hey gentlemen and lady, Steve is Yogi, Jonjon is Boo-Boo, so I once thought. Not quite accurant since little Boo-Boo is Yogi’s good little angel on the right shoulder. Nah, more like Steve is Batman and Jonjon is Robin. Robin has Batman’s back, so don’t go there. Yeah, @ 11:19, that use of the word bizarre, the plural form of me, the lols and annoying belly laughs once had me sit and wonder why. I like Mr. Koyote, but in general terms does not posses the argument mantra of a Jonjon. Boy, I bet Jonjon is squealing in delight watching us running amok with our secret decoder rings on a scavenger hunt. Well, it’s not as boring as a non-profit cake walk or musical chairs during fundraising time. It’s kinda cool all in all.
Now Jon really wants to discuss issues that he surmises worth gabbing about, so I give him an E for effort. Results don’t matter, it’s the journey not the destination, right? So, if Jonjon could be a wee bit more understanding of us heathens and pretend he is only 2 steps up the evolution scale above us, then we could have a nice free flowing exchange of ideas. Now, if only we could be worth, say 3/5 human in his eyes, I think I could work with that, speaking for myself.
An olive branch in these scary times. There ain’t no red states, there ain’t no blue states, there ain’t no reason to sit and wonder why.
Yo 11:19. Have you noticed everything is going exactly according to plan. Perfectly. Got to look at the big picture. Jeb is packing his bags and Rubio is too wet behind the ears. I haven’t spent 30 seconds looking at Cruz, but I know that man through and through. Like I know than man Trumpt through and through as well. Trump will give us the election and universal health care as well. Something for everybody. Maybe he will get Lizzy on board as a VP. Lord only knows that squaw has sold her soul for less. Just kidding.
When the static and background noise dies down, Trump will crank on that torrent and aim the Gatling Gun right between O and My Gal to give them some separation, then blow each one apart…either one by one or maybe simultaneously if the mood strikes. Hillary better pray that O gets up to 55% approval rating when the big incoming starts happening. But, that is for another day. First, we need to deal with some background static.
I must say (in conclusion) that I was surprised how quickly the Pope backed down. Not the battle El Papa wanted to keep going past sundown. Too much to loose and over his head. Next.LikeLike

Here’s a sandbox-ready nugget… it dawned on me on a recent visit to the Rude Center public library that Nevada County’s own glossy “magazine” for those with refined tastes, “Sierra Food | Wine | Art”, boorishly denigrated as Rude | Whine | Farts by some…. WASNT IN THE LIBRARY periodical section or anywhere else this observer could divine.
Is this a lack of respect for the local publisher or a reasoned value decision by qualified Library Scientists, since they don’t keep the Pennysaver editions, either?LikeLike

What is it with federal agents in SF? Another federal agent lost his gun in SF, left it on top of his car and drove off. This on top of 2 murders with guns that were issued to feds and lost and 3 FBI guns stolen from cars. The thefts make sense in SF, no gun stores and an obvious govt. issue car can be a lure but leaving it on top of your car? Something must be causing this pattern. Chemtrails? Second hand mmj smoke? Gremlins? Lowered threshold for the fed agent tests? Call the x files!

Re MJ numbers. We know that the ASA has no solid numbers on the economic impact of MJ – specifically from outdoor grows – but to my knowledge neither do the anti-MJ folks. I had a chat with Sheriff Royal about the availability of this data, and he was not aware of its existence. So it looks like when it comes to the economics of MJ in our county, both sides are talking out of their hats. If possible, please shed some light on this.LikeLike
-
I don’t recall that anyone on my side has put forth any numbers. I do know that it has been observed that the crazy claims of the growers are not in sync reality or with sales tax figures. Their numbers have ranged from 400 million to over a billion which are laughable. What they do not want us to focus on is that most of the big money changes hand out of the area. The profiteers move in set up shop, abuse the neighborhoods, over use our water resources and then take the pot where its worth many times more. The dispensaries want indoor grown over outdoor due to quality. Lets not forget that 215 was never about profits it was about reasonable access for legitimate patients. AB266 has cut through the crap and calls a spade a spade when it comes to commercial v personal use. 100sq ft. is now the State standard for a personal grow. 10 x 10 feet. 12 plants indoors is very reasonable especially when you look at the pro pot websites and they show 3 crops a year is standard and 4 is doable. So we are talking 36 to 48 whole plants yield in one year for one person.

I don’t agree at all that its the only issue that matters to the home owners of Nevada County. Just because hookers, moonshine and selling drugs makes money does not mean the community should embrace them commercially.
I see a future Nevada County that becomes a very desirable place to live that has legitimate businesses moving in because it becomes a more attractive area to raise a family. I am sick of losing real hi tech business opportunities who look elsewhere after a visit because the owners and employees don’t want to raise kids immersed in the weed culture.
The RE deals that came from the pot dealers moving in from areas like Fresno and Yuba after their bans will be flipped again, so the RE pros get a double dip on commissions in a short window. There may be a small short term wiggle to some ag land values. I would submit that home prices will gain from this due to the unique character of the area, especially as it is a non-commercial weed area which makes it more unique. I think most folks would like to see RE ad’s placed out of the area that say no outdoor weed grows as a marketing tag line instead of 215 friendly.
The bottom line is the neighborhoods will be less negatively impacted and patients can have a lot of weed with W.
Then think about the kind or retirees that would love an area like this, especially fat pension retired government workers like cops, fire, medical and so on.LikeLike

fish 943am – Two items. 1) Didn’t quite understand the notion of “escape” in your comment’s link. But like-minded Americans emigrating to a given location in Canada does seem to endorse RR’s promoting the benefits of living in a culturally cohesive area. 1) Well the notion of escaping the various socialist utopias (Cuba, the former Soviet Union, North Korea) was anathema to the governments of those nations. Can’t have the rabble escaping and giving the rest of the proles any ideas. Also the notion of escapees telling their stories and perhaps hardening the resolve of the non socialist nations was also to be resisted with all the might off the state.
I find that our very own capitalist hellhole of oppression that a major newspaper can print a story like that (spoof though it may be) a wonderful contrast.
2) In general I prefer to not jam things together but if you prefer I’ll fight the temptation to be so….”expansive”.LikeLike

High-tech companies are not looking for Smart and Famous pot smokers
Jeff Pelline is promoting the approval of recreation marijuana use in Nevada County and the local high-tech industries because smart and famous people use pot:
I’m not a pot smoker, but I know some highly successful people who are . . .
ooo
As the debate on Measure W heats up, this makes it hard to understand where some of our towns’ most ardent anti-pot activists, including obnoxious ones such as Don Bessee, are coming from.
“I am sick of losing real hi tech business opportunities who look elsewhere after a visit because the owners and employees don’t want to raise kids immersed in the weed culture,” Bessee writes on George Rebane’s blog. “Then think about the kind or retirees that would love an area like this, especially fat pension retired government workers like cops, fire, medical and so on.”
But it’s out of touch. High tech people also smoke pot (see list below and read “The 10 smartest pot smokers on our planet.”). This list includes Steve Jobs, Carl Sagan, Nobel prize winner Francis Crick, physicist Richard Feynman, anthropologist Margaret Mead, Google co-founder Sergey Brin and others.
This is all well and good, but when you talk to owners of high-tech companies, they do not want their employees high on marijuana on the job. Many high-tech jobs require extraordinary precision and concentration. High-tech employers have found the marijuana users often lack the ability to do the required tasks reliably.
Companies that have Federal contracts are required to have a certified drug free workforce. You will be surprised to discover how many of Nevada County companies have Federal contracts, a fact many are not willing to reveal. Russ.. Throw this Jeffy’s way. Have him post the names of those companies that openly (in writing on the job application) that allow pot smoking, and don’t drug test for it.
Yes, right here in Ca. we have a law on the books called the drug free work place law.
If that company gets any money from the state, be it by contract or grant, Drug testing IS required.
