The dazzling urban sophisticates of Chicago, Camden, Detroit who follow the NBA may actually see and be moved by one of these Public Service Announcements.

   It’s, weather, Jon, and individual records for days mean little… when an El Niño high has happened on the 5th doesn’t mean that it’s a Warmageddon when it happens 9on the 12th.
   75 is the record temp in NYC in Dec, and an el Nino only happens every other decade of so. This is not scary… its air that usually is over Mexico visiting the big Apple.

    For the month of December in NYC, 14 degrees above the long term historical average for a month- has NEVER happened- in the history of NYC record keeping. 13 degrees, 12 degrees and 11 degrees above the historical average have never happened either.
    Apparently this topic has caught the eye of many actual scientists/climatologist who study such historical aberrations. But not yours. Oh well. I’ll follow the experts-you stick to Lord Monckton and company. Thanks.

    Hay Walt, that “NY Nicks” line was pretty clever. But not really factually accurate, with NYC being the safest of the giant US cities. I used to root for the Knicks BTW- way, way back when. GS Warriors of course now. Cannot wait to see the new SAC arena next season…did you check out the construction photos? Thousands of jobs created. Amazing place.

    Oh Walt, how absolutely touching! Marry Christmas to you. Yep, we all have our quirks, some more than others. That’s what makes each and every one of us special. And thank goodness Dr. Rebane has allowed us to be right, wrong, and opinionated. Without the Good Doc, life would be less spicefull. New word? Yep, Fish is specialer. Another new word? 🙂
    However Walt, there would not be a fifth in the tank if I fell off the wagon. Nay, my good man, a fifth is not in the cards. I always began with a half gallon or liter plus to take the edge off to get things started. A fifth is not a wise purchase per oz and I would have to run and get another one. Waste of gas and poor planning to say the least.
    Now, with a fifth or 3 in the tank, could you bail me out on Christmas morning? It would be wonderful to meet you in person and you could drive me home to your house as your homeless Tiny Tim friend who is a wee bit under the weather and hungry. Come on Walt, it’s Christmas and my gift to you is the joy you and your family will receive by helping others on this day of Peace on Earth, Goodwin to Man…..er….others meaning me and goodwill to man means goodwill to mankind to be less sexist.. I promise to not use the toilet ( I am an outdoor kind of guy) nor even think about touching the guest only towels the Mrs. laid out in the “spare bathroom.”.     And Steve has his heart in the right place. And I agree with him in general terms of having a multifaceted local economy, and the open space look and feel, or, logically using what you got and building off that. Accentuate your assets.

    Hey – we’re kinda moved in! We have the major appliances and the internet running and the neighbors across the street invited us for Christmas dinner, bless their hearts.
    Sorry I haven’t been keeping up with the hilarity.
    I guess I am too ‘Jesusy’ all year long. And gun toting. Well – gee – we are moving and everything has to be toted. And bigoted, according to the left-wingers. Although when I leave Jesus and become bigoted is not clear. Midnight?
    Only 5″ inches of snow today and lows in the teens forecast for the next several days.
    God Bless you all (yes, ‘all’) and through the coming year. Sadly to say, for ron, I’m still here and am not going anywhere soon.
    We’re in our Idaho bunker that looks strangely like a ranch style home no where near Ruby Ridge. Our Muslim neighbors next door are very nice and we love the atmosphere. All sorts of folks live here – much more diverse than Nevada County.

    Walt at 8:52 – My goodness, no. That’s the great white north. Our friends in Post Falls already have 14″ on the ground. It’s very pretty up there, but we didn’t want to get old in an area of high snow fall. We’re in sunny south Idaho in the Treasure Valley. Basically the rural area just north west of Boise.
    That’s BOIS-CEE not Boizee. I’ve seen bumper stickers explaining there is no ‘Z’ in Boise. Radio and TV announcers are mixed on how they pronounce the name.
    I’ll try to talk like a native and get ID plates as soon as we can.
    Most folks around here are Kali refugees. The guy at the end of the street lived on Banner Mountain until he was 5. Small world.
    ‘ron’ and ‘jon’ would fit in well here. There’s plenty of colleges and Boise being the capitol, lots of Gruberized lefties. The newspaper of record is a Democrat suck-up that can find absolutely no fault with jon’s fav gal.
