Actually Scott, NO, all of you would NOT take them in, as was made clear here by some of your friends. They don’t have Muslim friends and have not associated with Muslims in the past.
Vetted to me is by the current 20+ month process- UN interview and vetting, then US scrutiny including DHS and FBI background checks, and final interview. I see no problem with the current process that obviously is now going to be stepped up. The US started the ball rolling on the upheaval in the middle east, and now GOP ideologues cannot take in a miniscule amount of refugees seeking safety from terrorism. At least now their supposed Christian values have been exposed as being as phony as a 3 dollar bill. That idiot in VA who suggested Manzanar type camps exposed the true feelings of those cretins.

Really, GeorgeB, you’re not that daft. Just had to distort the issue to one of being afraid of Syrians?
If one out of 50 (2%) of ‘refugees’ are in fact IS fighters using the cover of a mass of humanity in order to get out to greener pastures, any particular individual is no more likely to be dangerous than anyone else in California, but, and this is the big but, out of 10,000 (next year’s quota for the US) you can expect there to be 200 IS fighters and while we wouldn’t know who they were, they would.
That’s enough for 20 Paris attacks.
This isn’t a laughing matter, or an issue of xenophobia. It’s a dead serious issue of a determined group who effectively use terror to get their message across… Paris took 10 combatants willing to die and as little as $10,000 to complete. A bargain.
Reliable vetting is a pipe dream; some percentage will be IS.

20 months for a thorough vetting? Great, that means that 10,000 won’t be vetted and allowed in until after the next inaugural in 2017.
The fly in the ointment “Jon” is ignoring is, of course, the problem of vetting for ‘refugees’ from IS held areas and other similarly afflicted areas of Syria. A note from Greece that they didn’t slit any throats on Greek soil as they passed through isn’t much of a vetting.

UN vetting??? How do you vet someone from Syria, unless they are a big time criminal known to the entire area and the Syrian regime. There is no infrastructure where the Islamic refugees are from. We don’t have a great relationship with the Syrian government, which we are working day and night to overthrow, forcing Assad into the arms of Mother Russia.
UN vetting? That’s a good one. Why not have the League of Nations do the vetting. Just exactly how does the UN vett somebody (an Islamic) who shows up with just a backpack, no credit, to check, no work history and education to verify, not even the person’s real age or a trace of their history. So, jon is snug as a bug in a rug with the United Wackos doing the vetting? Like they did such a great job on running Saddam Husein’s oil for food program, ROTFLMAO. You funny boy, jon.
If only one out of a thousand Islamic refugees is an Islamic Terrorist or Jihadist, , that is more Islamic Radical Terrorists that carried out the Paris welcome mat. Just 1 out of a thousand is all they need, just one tenth of one percent, duh.

Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump, who has adopted a tough stance on immigration, said in a post on Twitter: “Eight Syrians were just caught on the southern border trying to get into the U.S. ISIS maybe? I told you so. WE NEED A BIG & BEAUTIFUL WALL!”
Another family just turned themselves in at a Texas Border town. Once they make it to US soil, all they need is to be taken to a detention center and they are in…..and disappear into the public at large, if judging by the illegals from south of the border is any indication. And Obama makes sure they can’t be held long in these “centers” and make them promise to appear at their court date.

Bottom line: Our Lefties are more concerned about 3th World Refugees from other continents than about the safety of Americans and even our tourists and visitors.
The jons of the world say the risk is minimal. No more dangerous than any weekend in Chicago or spending a week in Detroit, South LA, New Orleans, Baltimore, or the little town of Kansas City, Kansas. Hmm. I want to play this game!
Ok, I’ll bite on that argument. Suppose some Islamic ISIS sympathizers do a drive-by shooting, (except they don’t “drive by”, they get out of their cars and have an up close and personal encounter with a steady aim). Ok, say only 6 are shot point blank in the head, with the rifle placed casually against their temples. Say half of the victims are women, 30ish something mothers in this scenario. 6 deaths is but a mere tiny display of Allah’s love from his children.
So, jon and George B, take out a picture of your daughters, your mothers (deceased or not), your favorite elementary school teacher, your sisters, your nieces, your cousins, the young gal that lives down the street and her girlfriends. Take a good long hard look at those photos and tell yourselves that their lives are worth sacrificing to the low probabity of being wracked by Islamic refugees. Tell yourself their deaths are acceptable as the price of not appearing Islamphobic and appearing better by helping Islamic refugees. Tell yourselves it is just the price of being PC as you hold the photos of your most dearly loved ones in front of your face.
You will have to tell yourselves some big ass whoopers, George B and jon. Your loved ones are a small price to pay for the Greater Good. Yep, keep telling yourselves it will never happen to your loved ones, and if by chance your loved ones are ripped to shreds by small explosives or at the murderers’ hand, tell yourself it is all worth it.

I think Bill and others are making a cogent point here. It is clear that Muslims are a threat to the homeland, that they do not share our values, and that they are part of a global movement to replace our culture with the Caliphate.
Since we know this to be true I do not see any problem with restricting the activities of Muslims and tracking their movements and activities to ensure we minimize the threat. Registration in a central database, restrictions on certain types of activities ( such as some religious services or activities by Imams that encourage dissident behavior) and the use of internal travel controls to keep them away from sensitive national security areas just makes sense. Since we all must stay vigilant some way to tell when someone is a Muslim so we know if they are behaving in a way that might be suspicious also makes a lot of sense. Perhaps a distinguishing mark Muslims could wear on their clothes.
Finally I don’t see any reason why we could not arrange to house Muslims in special areas either inside Syria or on an island in the Medditerranean until we can come up with a final solution to the Muslim question. Resettlement in the east seems to be an option.
Perhaps George who has some refugee experience and entered the USA as part of a United Nations operation to resettle refugees could give you all some advice on

StevenF 821am – As news arrives hourly of yet another Islamist atrocity in Mali, you in your own inimitable way have raised an important point. The laissez faire approach to Islamic migrations and established enclaves of colonization seems to be coming to an end since ISIS has demonstrated that it is anything but “contained”, and Al Qaeda is now desperately launching their own attacks so as to remain a relevant factor in the global Islamist movement.
Given the attitude polls and stats that describe our resident Muslims, what prudent proposals for in-country US security would you entertain? Similarly, should we continue current immigration policies for Muslims given the testimonies of both Comey and Brennan about our at best dysfunctional vetting process – if not, what should we do?
BTW, unlike some other inquisitors, I’m not asking you to spell out detailed policies in this comment stream, but simply indicate your generalized guidance were you, say, POTUS or one of his high minions.

Steve, I like you humor. Very wry, very Tozeresque, an white privilege expression just added to the New international Dictionary.
Ok, not all Islamics are…Islamics. That is a given. And ISIS’s bigwigs feel rather superior to the Syrians. Like, all the Syrian fighters have non Syrian commanders. That is so wrong. Something about them living “out there”, which means they have been dwelling in areas outside the caliphate(sp?). It’s the ones from closer to the Rock of Gilbratier than the Dead Sea that most of the gang raping gangs of Islamic doing Europe are from, aka North Africa. But, the mass murderers, the mass serial killers, the Ragheads if you prefer, are from the area of the long gone Assyrian Empire.
Now, the Keystone Cops got Jindal involved down in Louisanna. Seems they had 4-6 Syrian refugees down there and one turned up missing. After a massive search from the State (with zero help from the Feds), the guy turned up after going to Catholic Charities and they found him housing someplace. All is well.
Now, the moral of this story. How many millions of dollars and resources does it take to monitor these refugees we let?? They need to be constantly monitored in case one comes up missing. Just the cost alone must be well past the point of dismissing returns. Why even let in a group of them than need constant surveillance. Why go down that route? Too expensive.
Steve, still with me? Good. Now, that list that Senator Sessions put out about the Islamic thwarted plots by Islamics living in the USA. Guess what? Most of them were given the gift of US citizenship. Yep, they were allowed in, led happy lives, became citizens, and now are funding ISIS or breaking the law by assembling bombs in an apartment, lol.
The moral of this story is they are already here as citizens! Maybe they got radicalized in some place of worship or maybe blood is thicker than water. We have our Ted Kazinskis, our teenage loners that go on hunting trips down at the local public school, and a whole basket full of Undesirables, both domestic and foreign.
Why on Earth would you wish to add to the problem by willingly let thousands of Syrian refugees in, of which some want to assemble bombs in an apartment.
We already have accepted 100s of thousands of Muslims from around the world. Not all of them live in Beverly Hills or Dearborn, Michigan. Thousands upon thousands a year, every year. We accept some tribes without hesitation and some tribes from Iraqi and Syria raise my radar. Let’s sit on it u til the dust from Mali settles at least.

The phrase, “database of Muslims,” or anything like it never crossed Trump’s lips. What did happen is that a reporter asked Trump a question not unlike the old have-you-stopped-beating-your-wife trick. Paraphrasing, here is what happened.
Reporter: Would you be in favor of a database of Muslims?
Until that moment nobody had suggested such a thing.
Trump: There are lots of things we should do including improving border control.
Reporter: So is that something your White House would do?
The “that” in this question is ambiguous and could refer to a number of things that Trump included in his response.
Trump: Yes.
It seems more likely to me that Trump was answering with respect to the topic about which he most recently spoke, i.e., improving border control. In any event, it was the reporter, not Trump, who proposed a database of Muslims. Trump plainly and simply did not say it!

See, you guys had the libs all wrong, myself included. They, well maybe 1th of 1%, ….they do have a sense of humor! Learn something new everyday. Knew Steve had it in him, I just knew it. Now Walt, Michael Moore has been very generous through the years, so of course Mr. Moore would open his home to shelter Syrian refugees, the new cultural pariahs. Nobody else wants them…except maybe someone with a screw loose like little jonnie and Obama.

Geez. Now Europe is overreacting, I tell ya. Don’t they realize they have a better chance of getting hurt chasing parked cars than being critically injured by those they welcomed in from foreign lands…and paid for their food, shelter, and medical needs. Well, much ado about nothing.
