From one of their own kind we now have the definitive record of candidate and former SecState Hillary Rodham Clinton’s accomplishments.  Her record has been a longstanding and recently growing concern across the nation as it becomes more clear by the day that she will be anointed as the Democrats' nominee for the country’s next fearless leader.

In today’s Union is published a timely apology by Michele Spencer, a local Democrat worthie.  Ms Spencer paints an impassioned picture of Hillary and her manifest accomplishments.  I have never seen such an embarrassing list of under- and or non-performance for a national public figure, save perhaps the one for our current occupant in the White House.

Hillary is introduced and also characterized as “a principled, pragmatic, practical problem solver rather than an ideologue.”  But what becomes clear in the sequel, as reflected in her record and public persona, is that she is anything but principled, pragmatic, or solver of problems, especially of the practical kind.  All that the Spencer piece makes clear is that Hillary is first and foremost an ideologue who has run with crowds sporting trendy ideologies while accomplishing nothing to which the world can attach her name.

I retract that – her name indeed is visibly and indelibly attached to the embarrassing ‘Reset with Russia’ button which brought a chuckle from Lavrov when he made clear to all that the US State Department had no one who could properly translate a simple phrase into Russian.  Oh yes, we can also throw in the tragic Benghazi fiasco which she now personally owns.

Ms Spencer’s piece – ‘What has Hillary Clinton accomplished?’ – is so priceless that I have done you the service of reproducing it below in its entirety.

*****

Hillary Clinton is a brilliant, hardworking, dedicated public servant who has helped untold millions of people and who has earned and deserves our respect and gratitude.

Her 40-year-long record of leadership in the public eye speaks for itself. Unlike many, she is a principled, pragmatic, practical problem solver rather than an ideologue.

She knows how to get things done.

Among many other things, Hillary has managed throughout her life to break gender stereotypes and fight for women’s and children’s rights in her activist roles as a lawyer, working, for example, with the Marian Wright Edelman’s Children’s Defense Fund, and while 1st Lady of Arkansas, she fought for the women and families of that state.

Hillary was the first female head of the politically embattled Legal Services Corporation [which provided free legal services to poor clients] under President Carter; and when her husband Bill was President of the United States, she promoted the idea of national health care and was instrumental in the passage of the State Children’s Health Insurance Program.

Her gender, her experience as a woman, has made Hillary Clinton particularly sensitive to the two top issues of this Presidential campaign: gender and income inequality… She is hands down the most qualified candidate running.

At the same time she was promoting a new global women’s rights movement, and in 1995, she was the head of the American delegation at the United Nation’s Fourth World Conference on Women held in Beijing, China.

Her message, in part, “Women’s rights are human rights.”

While serving as United States Senator representing post 9/11 New York, she obtained $21 billion in government aid to help New York rebuild while, and as its more liberal representative, voted, for example, against the Central American Free Trade Agreement and Bush’s energy bill which included $14.5 billion in tax breaks for the energy industry.

As United States Secretary of State under the Obama administration, Hillary was focused on how to keep the country safe and prosperous.

She remained consistent on women’s issues by: a.) Leading the push for UN Security Council Resolution 1888, which requires the UN to take steps to protect women and children from wartime sexual violence, and b.) Placing women’s economic participation on the agenda at the 21 nation Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation forum.

Under her management there was a 50 percent increase in imports to China and aggressive work on climate issues.

Hillary was instrumental in fashioning and obtaining international support for sanctions against Iran that brought them to the negotiating table and an agreement to stop their development of nuclear weapons.

She supports the agreement even in the face of opposition by supporters of the State of Israel, who have long supported her in the past.

As candidate for President in 2015, Hillary Clinton is calling for getting the money out of politics “once and for all, even if it takes a constitutional amendment.”

She has pledged to appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn ‘Citizen’s United’.

Hillary’s platform is pro-childcare, health care, paid family-leave and full military health benefits. She is pro choice. She is opposed to the Keystone pipeline due to its inherent risk to the environment.

Her gender, her experience as a woman, has made Hillary Clinton particularly sensitive to the two top issues of this Presidential campaign: gender and income inequality.

Her experience on the world stage has given her an informed global perspective.

She is hands down the most qualified candidate running.

(Michele Spencer is an active member of Nevada County Democrats. She has submitted this on her own behalf rather than on behalf of that organization. She lives in Grass Valley.)

The problem Clinton backers are having is they’re looking at it all wrong. Hillary’s great achievements as secretary of state are easy to find, all around the world. Just look at the unrest in Syria, the collapse of Libya, the rise of ISIS, the death of a U.S. ambassador, renewed Russian aggression . .. Now that is a long list.

There may have been an accomplishment or two listed among Spencer’s more-than-500 words but the rest consist of statements concerning Clinton’s positions and platforms, and of Spencer’s passionate puppy love for Clinton.
Here is a personal favorite from about the mid-point of her letter.
Her gender, her experience as a woman, has made Hillary Clinton particularly sensitive to the two top issues of this Presidential campaign: gender and income inequality… She is hands down the most qualified candidate running.
Gender and income equality may be Spencer’s top issues but I am certain that many have other issues they find just a bit more pressing. Regardless, there are millions of Americans who have experience as women and who share Clinton’s gender[sic] and therefore are, by Spencer’s logic, qualified candidates.
Spencer must very strongly believe this part of her message, however, as she repeats it, almost word-for-word, near the end of her missive.
    Wow.

Don’t be knocking my gal. Here is her sole accomplishment:
As Sec of state, she got a whole bunch of nations together (one in particular I didn’t give a snowball’s chance in Haydes to get on board) to do the economic sanction thing against The Persian Empire. Lots of hard work and lots of miles on and by my gal. We were making Iran feel the squeeze.
But, we know what happened, what always happens. Obama steps in, tosses the sanctions out the window, releases their cash in foreign banks, and walked away empty handed. Just like that weirdo who spoke quasi English Henry Kissinger did in Paris. We were bombing that crap out of Hanio and the Ho Chi Mein Trail to boot. But, nooooo, fat boy stopped us when we had them reeling and the rest is history. Sure, he got the Noble Peace Prize or something for opening up the ping pong matches in China for Forrest Gump and maybe a few others. . How is that working out with China? But I digress.
Curses Obama!! You just can’t stand having a former Goldwater Girl in the Oval Office, now can you? Men are such beasts.

MichaelK 1147pm – To give the lady a fair shake Mr Kesti, would you please highlight for us “an accomplishment or two” that caught your eye? IMHO the harm she has done while in public life – starting with her participation in investigating the Watergate scandal – to the way of life many Americans hold dear is considerable. (Trigger warning to liberals, please take your anti-apoplexy meds before continuing to read.)
So I hope that any of her cited accomplishments will exceed the morally equivalent balances attributed to, say, 20th century tyrants building autobahns, making trains run on time, or creating ‘full employment’ during the depression. The use of these examples is to highlight a point and not to suggest her membership in that class.

    Well, uh, let’s see.
I suppose there is some degree of personal accomplishment to having been Legal Services Corporation’s first (and only!) female board chairman. And being part of coercing $21 billion from the federal government to help rebuild NYC after 9/11 must count for something.
Oh, hell, George, I was being sarcastically generous and have again learned that sarcasm is difficult to express textually in a way that will be understood as intended.

Well, when Rodclam was first introduced to the public at large as Ms. Hillary Rodham Clinton, she was a nice Southern gal with a cute accent. Then, when she opened her mouth, her numbers went down. When she start devising Hillarycare behind closed doors and kept the secret ingridents from the public and press, her numbers took a nose dive. But, all was not lost. She turned to McCalls and Better Homes and Gardens and published her family recipe for cookies, yum yum. Her polls numbers soared the more she talked about baking cookies.
So, her biggest accomplishment was going public with her cookie recipes. Odd, she was open and not defensive when it came to cookie tips.
Also, before her long stellar career in public service, she was handed the prestigious position of serving on the Wal Mart board of directors just as soon as Billy Bob from Hope, AR , was elected Attonery General. Before Bill was elected to public office, she couldn’t land a job. As soon as Billy Bob won the Governor slot, she was immediately hired by the Rose Law Firm…strike that, she was an inexperienced lawyer hired directly as a partner in the firm. No need to pay one’s dues when your hubby is the Governor.
Yes, one might argue that being on the Board of Wal-Mary or being a lawyer in the private sector does not qualify as public servant accomplishments, but you can’t argue with those Southern cookie recipes as a public service, given to us for free. My gal kicks butt when around a hot oven and a cookie sheet.
Yes, things have changed since then. Nowadays, my gal is at her absolute best when taking a defensive posture, and at her worse when leading offensively. Best offensive is a good defense I reckon.

MichaelK 926am – I kinda thought so and in my clumsy way attempted to respond in kind. Oh well. Apologies for my denseness.
As an alternative assessment of Mrs Clinton’s contributions, I think Mr Tozer about covers it.

Over all Hillary Clinton was a good SoS and has done lots of good for girls/ women around the world. As a Senator she was given the seat and it was just resume padding for her presidential run in 2008. When she lost the 2008 primary the Democratic leadership got her the SoS position for more resume padding and training for the 2016 election.
Hillary Clinton is a very smart, competent, and accomplished women. Unfortunately for her she is as slimy as a politician can get and that is her biggest downfall. If it were possible she would talk out 4 sides of her mouth if it meant getting elected.
