George Rebane

A correspondent sent me this clipping that recently appeared in the Miller County Liberal of Colquitt, Georgia.  It is another example of progressivism run amok in America that affects much more than our national debt.  Such people are the stalwarts and core constituents of liberal politicians across our land.  Hard to garner their vote if your message is that you should become a legitimate couple and earn your own way instead of taking it from your neighbors.

CollectivistCancer

[2sep15 update]  Yet one more collectivist cancer is now rampant in the land.  The clearly fraudulent ‘Black Lives Matter’ agitation (movement?) abetted by the lamestream, has now cost hundreds of additional lives across the country this year as crime rates have soared.  Why?  Because crime has now been elevated by the administration and various leftwing municipal jurisdictions to have become politically motivated, thereby giving lawlessness an implicit level of justification that invite more scumbags – especially the black-on-black kind – to wantonly kill.

Our police across the land are justifiably convinced that civilized society, led by progressive politicians, no longer has their backs.  They have quietly started pulling back from their normal law enforcement practices as they are being regularly hauled into vindictive politically motivated judicial proceedings, or simply murdered in the streets.  To put meat on these observations, just consider a sampling of American cities in which the murder rate has sky-rocketed during the last year – Austin +90.9%, Denver +75%, Milwaukee +73.6%, St Louis +57.7%, Baltimore +55.8%.

Since it was hinted that there were multiple operators of the “jon” puppet (Frisches Spartacus reference) and since your writing style is so Pelline like….Mini jeffy seemed like a good fit!
The chili fries is his fetish I understand.

Emery the ‘jon’ et al, How about the Waste Fraud and Abuse of the VA System and screwing over our vets by the government employee unions? Lets start that discussion. Don’t hear the local dems talk about that, to them vets are just an appendage to the cause celeb of the quarter or election.

Hmm. Guess we are not discussing why almost half the folks are sitting around collecting from the other half that is being bled dry. Is it misery loves company, is it Wally? Guess it all boils down to military spending, not social services. I think I get it. Oh, are you saying elimate military spending to triple social services? By Jove, what a spendid idea coming from the Lefty Looseies. Must be a novel idea us Righty Tighies never heard before. Food stamps for the unborn?

Actually Paul I don’t know that military retirees are paid from the same pot of entitlement money that that other entitlements are sourced from. You said that and I will take you at your word. Rather than indulging in your “Matlock” routine perhaps you would just like to make your point?

You seem to be talking about two different things here. If I may quote you
“60% of the federal budget is entitlement spending. Seems to me that someone who wants to maintain a “safety net” would like to see it well managed?”
Simply put do you consider military retirement from government service as part of a “safety net”? There is a distinct difference between an entitlement which includes earned retirement benefits and a safety net wouldn’t you agree Perhaps you could clear up the confusion here and we can go on with the conversation.

Philosophically I don’t consider it part of the “safety net” I consider it a contractual obligation from the federal government to the retiree. This may be an incorrect assessment of the arrangement, As an example, many believe that a Social Security account is the property of each person who has paid into the system. As I’m sure you are aware this is not the case. In the eyes of the court SS is seen as little more than another welfare program.
    Can we proceed?

Bessee 9:10, congratulations for bringing up an important topic that Bernie has talked about for years! And yup, he got American Vets the FUNDING to help correct the injustices. Long overdue in large part due to efforts of Bernie Sanders. You owe him a debt of gratitude. But I never realized that rank and file union employees were making the higher level management decisions in the VA system? LOL. That’s a new concept.

Well crap you guys. Get to the welfare handouts some friggin time. Geez, what a bunch of horse pucky. Ok, whether you are military spending lovers or haters, get on with it, scrots.
How about this for starters: illegal alien Mexican Nationals that work here are allowed to claim the EIC for their 7-9 kids living back home who have never set foot upon nor ever laid eyes upon US soil. That check given out of our Treasury is worth about 4 thousand clams (US) for each applicant. Plus a refund of all taxes if any were withheld. Might as well give it to some crazy freaky looking Rastaman screaming at a light pole on Broad St and expecting answers back. Can we start there or somewhere?
Geez, why do you libholes make the simplest things so damn complicated and convoluted? That’s right Paul, it was a friggin question. Boo. You guys act if you need to set some ground rules first as if you are negotiating the terms of a Presidential Debate. What the funk is wrong with straight shooting, straight talking, say what you mean and mean what you say???????Enough already and enough of this rope-dope. The bell has rung now get to the center of the ring and start duking it out. This is not The World Chess Match.
Well, I might as well post a favorite pic of dancing in the rain or something and be more on topic that you pukes.

I don’t think we have a dispute What is there to talk about.? I’m opposed to fraud of all kinds Do you have a problem with that ? Just because people are on welfare doesn’t mean they are committing fraud. Pretty simple solution, bust those that do. If you don’t like the current laws vote people in that will change them.

By the way I am opposed to all forms of fraud. I’m sure we agree on that.

It doesn’t matter what I think about the potential contractual obligation implications of the Social Security program. The law is written, a legal challenge as to whether or not a person controlled their account in a manner similar to a 401(k) or IRA was offered and defeated with precedent set.
My opinion has no bearing on the matter.
As to you second statement I’m not sure we agree on that at all. The clip from the article that George posted is an example of somebody who is familiar with the social welfare system making a collage of legal loopholes showing how the system can be gamed….and hey we all know upset you guys get when people exploit loopholes!
This method may not be the result of a single welfare recipient….it might be a composite of two or three….but I guarantee that if somebody took the time to write it down and send it to the local paper that it’s going on. If somebody took the time to write it down then it is already well known to the “Recipient Community” via word of mouth.
Mini jeffy rushed to assure us that we were just all haterz who wanted to make the poor suffer. My point is that at some point the “bread and circuses” is going to get too expensive to provide in it’s current form and then the incredibly wise managers of these programs are going to have to deal with reality.
I’m pretty sure that they aren’t up to the challenge.

Your defense of the program is tacit endorsement of how it is managed and I don’t seem to recall seeing you up in arms about social welfare policy management recently.

There is no stomach in DC to change SSN or the rest of the SCOTUS determined “entitlements” Once people take anything for granted (like wives or hubbies even) it is impossible to change it. SSN and Medicare are deducted and paid for by the employee and employer. As are all the other things we take for granted (electricity, phones etc)
What could be changed is the laws for future recipients. SSN became a farce when they added “disability, schooling and many other “handouts” to those who don’t or did not put into the system. So for them it is a socialist handout. For those that paid into it, it is a contract.
One only needs to see the spineless honeyfish of DC when Bush tried to change it.

Good point, Paul (last evening). Shit, it is legal to milk the system. It is promoted! In fact, the ex somewhere in dope land CA was an independent cuss. She, as well as another lady friend in WA finally signed up for Obamacare to follow the law. Both would rather chew through their arms than ever ever ever be in the dole. They can’t pay cash to see a doc anymore ( Obamacare saw to that) and were told they HAVE to sign up for MediCAL and whatever WA calls Medicaid. They both wanted to buy a bronze plan out of their own pockets but we’re told they are too broke, make too little money and CANNOT by their insurance. Obamacare rules. They only qualify for health care paid by other people. Here is the kicker. The CA ex was told she has to sign up for food stamps as well and they signed her up over her objections anyway. Now, she likes food stamps so she can put this hundred dollar bills in the cookie jar. She said she is tired of fighting “them” and why not take everything the have to offer now. Lay it on me. Nothing changed all her life except her attitude. She just bought a big ole dually truck to haul her new horse trailer in and bought another horse, but she has to sign up for food stamps?
I HAVE TO sign up for Medicare @ 65, despite the fact my insurance runs circles around even gov’t employes and Congresspersons’ Health Bennies. What they have is inferior and they pay more for less, but I digress. To me, it’s legal but immoral.
After welfare reform hit, I looked at counties similar to Nevada County, such as Lake County and Glenn County as far as demographics, population per square mile, etc. income, housing and the social services had the same stories about welffare reform. The percentage that are hopeless. Telling drug addicts, skin poppers, cranksters, crackheads, meth freaks to look for a job and the training is on us was stupid. Rehab first, then a life coach about personal hygiene, then training, then seek and obtain employment while them rent checks keep rolling in. Looked good on paper in the halls of liberal thought. Hell no, those low life toothless refried beans for brains are 100% totally unemployable today, tomorrow, and 10 years from now. And guess what? It’s friggin legal and lawful.
We are stuck paying for all their needs ( and a few wants to boot) till the day they die. There are no consequences for bad behavior anymore. The worse you are, the better the guarentee for womb to tomb entitlements they did not earn, but are given by the force of law.
Go ahead, Jon, say I hate poor people which is true if they are Worthless Dope Slinging Sluggars and habitual takers, and like it that way. Like it very much, thank you. That is my beef. We got to give cash along with a bunch of other stuff every single month to 30 and 40 somethings (able bodied folks I am yapping about here) until the day they die and finally they part from our wallets with zero consequences.
Poor, poor souls. The little darlings just simply have no tools in the toolbox to fed or clothe themselves or even get the electricity turned without somebody helping them until they are pushing up daisies.. I say good riddance IF you are a sluggard. Guess they should all get crazy money and hang out at the bottom of Broad St.

Speaking of collectivist cancers – ranking right up there at top is their push for draconian public policies based on their religious fervor promoting AGW. The crappy and corrupt consensus science upon which this hysteria is based has been extensively covered on several prominent websites and institutional publications – all to no avail since AGW is a matter of central planning politics and not science. However, along with others I have covered here the sleaze that pervades how the ‘science’ is funded, protected, and promoted. Russ Steele posts an extremely revealing article on the latest in this genre of climate change. Worth a read.
