    To the question,
OK, can someone besides crickets explain why farmers are experiencing a shortage of field labor with one out four black youth unemployed, along with an unknown high unemployment rate among our illegal aliens?
Farm workers are still paid with antiquated pay scales, which haven’t even come close of rising with the cost of living. In America we don’t like paying the true cost of food therefore the true cost of labor.
As far as semi racist association part of the question. 1) How many black teens live in rural areas? 2) I am not sure if you noticed but the Obama administration has been cracking down on undocumented and illegal immigrants. I still don’t know why you guys don’t love Obama. He is everything you want in executive branch and more.

Didn’t read what I posted on that did you Ben? 15 bucks an hour is the going rate.
How much do you want to pay for Ca. grown food? Remember,, veggies shipped in from GOD knows where, the cost of labor is pennies on the dollar, and the use of chemicals is far less regulated.
Enjoy the new cost of Ca. grown.

Ben Emery, yes it is easy to explain. We have high unemployment in the inner cities and those farmers could use those young men for the fields. But they won’t go.

Company with whom I’m sure you would be most comfortable.

    1) Toussaint L’Ouverture, a leader of the slave revolt that led to the independence of Haiti, was called the “Black Spartacus” by one of his defeated opponents, the Comte de Lavaux.
    2) Founder of the Bavarian Illuminati, Adam Weishaupt, often referred to himself as Spartacus within written correspondences.[49]
    3) Karl Marx listed Spartacus as one of his heroes, and described him as “the most splendid fellow in the whole of ancient history” and “[a] great general ([though] no Garibaldi), noble character, real representative of the ancient proletariat.”[50]
Spartacus has been a great inspiration to revolutionaries in modern times, most notably the German Spartacus League, a forerunner of the Communist Party of Germany, as well as an Austrian anti-fascist organization in the 1970s.

    Too good not to share:
    PEGGY NOONAN ON DONALD TRUMP:
You know the latest numbers. Quinnipiac University’s poll this week has Mr. Trump at a hefty 28% nationally, up from 20% in July. Public Policy Polling has Mr. Trump leading all Republicans in New Hampshire with 35%. A Monmouth University poll has him at 30% in South Carolina, followed 15 points later by Ben Carson.
Here are some things I think are happening.
One is the deepening estrangement between the elites and the non-elites in America. This is the area in which Trumpism flourishes. We’ll talk about that deeper in.
Second, Mr. Trump’s support is not limited to Republicans, not by any means.
Third, the traditional mediating or guiding institutions within the Republican universe—its establishment, respected voices in conservative media, sober-minded state party officials—have little to no impact on Mr. Trump’s rise. Some say voices of authority should stand up to oppose him, which will lower his standing. But Republican powers don’t have that kind of juice anymore. Mr. Trump’s supporters aren’t just bucking a party, they’re bucking everything around, within and connected to it.
Since Mr. Trump announced I’ve worked or traveled in, among other places, Southern California, Connecticut, Georgia, Virginia, New Jersey and New York’s Long Island. In all places I just talked to people. My biggest sense is that political professionals are going to have to rethink “the base,” reimagine it when they see it in their minds.
I’ve written before about an acquaintance—late 60s, northern Georgia, lives on Social Security, voted Obama in ’08, not partisan, watches Fox News, hates Wall Street and “the GOP establishment.” She continues to be so ardent for Mr. Trump that she not only watched his speech in Mobile, Ala., on live TV, she watched while excitedly texting with family members—middle-class, white, independent-minded—who were in the audience cheering. Is that “the Republican base”? I guess maybe it is, because she texted me Wednesday to say she’d just registered Republican. I asked if she’d ever been one before. Reply: “No, never!!!”
Something is going on, some tectonic plates are moving in interesting ways. My friend Cesar works the deli counter at my neighborhood grocery store. He is Dominican, an immigrant, early 50s, and listens most mornings to a local Hispanic radio station, La Mega, on 97.9 FM. Their morning show is the popular “El Vacilón de la Mañana,” and after the first GOP debate, Cesar told me, they opened the lines to call-ins, asking listeners (mostly Puerto Rican, Dominican, Mexican) for their impressions. More than half called in to say they were for Mr. Trump. Their praise, Cesar told me a few weeks ago, dumbfounded the hosts. I later spoke to one of them, who identified himself as D.J. New Era. He backed Cesar’s story. “We were very surprised,” at the Trump support, he said. Why? “It’s a Latin-based market!”
“He’s the man,” Cesar said of Mr. Trump. This week I went by and Cesar told me that after Mr. Trump threw Univision’s well-known anchor and immigration activist, Jorge Ramos, out of an Iowa news conference on Tuesday evening, the “El Vacilón” hosts again threw open the phone lines the following morning and were again surprised that the majority of callers backed not Mr. Ramos but Mr. Trump. Cesar, who I should probably note sees me, I sense, as a very nice establishment person who needs to get with the new reality, was delighted.

Not a smidgen of corruption at the Justice Department, IRS, State Department, EPA, the Department of Education, Homeland Security, …..the whole Administration is corrupt and deceitful. Good morning Steve. Liked the link you posted. And people say you have no sense of humor. Wrong! My elaboration is required due to a typo. I mean to say Watch out Steve, not what out Steve. The rest is fairly self explanatory.
Well, you and your Scared Cow EPA has not poisoned any Kermit the Frogs or Injuns in the last 2 hours that I am aware of. But, I do like your beloved EPA’s style. Sending the Navajo Nation emergency drinking water in barrels contaminated with oil was a class act. A sign of true genius from those protecting the little people’s health and welfare. Is it because them savage Redmen are not white? Is it, Steve? Kind of a preverted thing to do, but it does have a flair of imigination I must confess. Oh, my poor people suffering under the heavy hand of your people. Do you really hate us that much? We leave you alone, but you seem to be unable to keep your heavy handed clutch of poisonous death from us little people. Whatz up with dat?
Heard the EPA had a new theme song. The old classic Land of 1,000 Dances. Very appropriate. The irony had not escaped me. Sung by Hannibal and the Headhunters, perv.

I also don’t think Keach is capable of aping the “Jon” style for more than a few seconds at a time.
Regarding Frisch’s “The problem all y’all have is that vox populi has passed you by”, were I a Republican I’d be heartened by the plurality of state legislatures the GOP controls, not to mention governorships, the Senate and the House. California is a one party state but the Democratic Party here is fully invested in the Global Warming crisis and the continuing crisis is the lack of warming, just a drought that is, according to NOAA research, not caused by “Global Warming” and matches a number of past natural drought cycles. Lots of cold, lots of snow nationwide would make it that much harder to continue to fool some of the people all of the time and it looks like the snow is coming.

I love it when people who deny the rising climate crises use weather as a proxy for science. It really shows just how disingenuous their positions are.
But that’s really not the point is it?
Even with Republican control of many sate houses and Congress, policy is constantly moving toward liberalization. Abortion. Gay marriage. Civil rights. Immigration policy.Climate. Politics follow culture, culture does not follow politics, and the nation is inexorably moving left. Even young conservatives are moving left. Conservatarians can fight it tooth and nail, but they are fighting a losing battle, and they know it, which is why they are so very angry and acting out in nativist, racist, misogynist and homophobic rhetoric.
The point I was making was that Keach was pulling your chains boys, and dimwits like Todd, Walt, and Fish fall for it like the rubes they really are. Which gives MA, Keach, Jon and me a belly laugh every day. Ever notice that with the possible exception of Keach, we don’t really have time to post during the day….that’s because we are out in the real world doing things, while you guys are on the back porch of life bitching like a bunch of old men.

I hate it when people who imagine a warming climate crisis use weather as a proxy for science, which has been the case for every heat wave in the past decade or so. Turnabout can be fair play especially when one expressly points out it’s only weather.
Yes, a sure sign of a Rube tends to be taking people at their word. How hick can one be? Enjoy those bellylaughs, Steven; I’d rather be a rube than one of the accomplished liars but will settle for something in the middle.
I use the impending cool weather as a pure indicator of how well the alarm will be selling to voters come springtime, summer and fall. A number of those of the Physics persuasion are expecting a cooling starting right about now and lasting until about 2080 and if it pans out, the lack of the forecast warming and expensive energy (damn, photovoltaics really don’t put out when covered with snow, nor do iced up wind turbines) will not wear well for Democrats, nor will it wear well for our local 6 figure rentseeking 501c3 CEO, Steven Frisch of the so-called Sierra Business Council which isn’t a Council of Businesses.
Unlike the students of the Trivial Arts like Stephen and Dougie, I can and do read the journal articles myself, and know how to tell the difference between activists like Mann or Oreskes from those who are doing the hard science.
