Nice try Stevey “wonder”. You can’t accept facts. (“three monkey” syndrome?)
And you have no clue what my pay is, or was. At least I work for what I get.
Now go fill out your money begging forms. Or do you have some “volunteer” do that for you?
Those are just a few samples of the 15 dollar minimum wage. I know,, I know.. LIB news will NOT report LIB failures.
So smart a**,, post legit proof it’s working GREAT! Lets see the success stories.
( good bloody luck with that.) I can’t wait to see the source.LikeLike

So Walt, you did not post any facts you posted opinion.
My contention would be that there are no real ‘facts’ yet, increases in minimum wage in the few jurisdictions that have approved them have really just started.
As far as you employment situation, you were the one who brought it up.
“They are taking jobs I would take, which helps keep me unemployed. Yes,, Right here.”
I’m sorry you can’t compete with other labor, but you made your bed. You decided what line of work you were going to go into and you are responsible for your skill level. If you find yourself crowded out by other people willing to work cheaper that is the breaks of the system you regularly support here. It’s the free market and your value is low. Too bad.
I don’t see your conservative construction buddies saying, “Hey let’s hire Walt instead because he is a real American”.
Perhaps your ire is misplaced my friend.LikeLike

Walt, here’s your abundance of farm workers:

I employed illegals GeorgeB? Now tell me how would you know? But alas, I always employed citizens like every good patriotic American employer should do.
Sounds like yu hung around with a lot of illegals.LikeLike

Poor snake oil salesman. I work because I like to. Not because I need to. I have already done well for myself. ( and never had to seek free rent…. like someone else we know of)
If you don’t want to accept the facts, that’s your problem. High dollar minimum wage for low skills has already shown to be ill fated. ( still waiting to see your proof that says otherwise… Troll…)
Your real good at dodging questions as all LIBS that show up here.
Real good at shooting off your mouth, with jack sh*t to back it up.LikeLike
-
I call BS Boardman on that “report”. there have been more illegals running wild from sea to shining sea for the past six years. So there has been PLENTY of labor to be had.
ICE has had their hands tied by “O” and Co. ” Nope,, your not going looking”.
BTW next time don’t use a paywalled example. I do give you credit for at least trying.
Something Stevey blowhard won’t and can’t do.LikeLike

Here is the article (the only time I will likely ever link to Newsman):
http://www.newsmax.com/Finance/StreetTalk/Rising-wages-workers-farms/2015/08/13/id/669999/
Here is a link to the report cited (that is what a citation looks like):
http://www.renewoureconomy.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/PNAE_FarmLabor_August-3-3.pdf
The methodology for data collection starts on page 25. If you want to dispute the finding that would be where one would start if they had crucial thinking skills.
And I think I answered your question quite well Walt: I am not citing data and reports because the first major city to do a minimum wage increase, Seattle, does not even have data yet. All you cited was a bunch of blowhard bullshit with no research.LikeLike

So 17 bucks an hour isn’t good enough anymore? ( For farm labor) Hell! They were doing it for less than minimum wage not long ago!! CHRIST!! I have worked for less.
Yup,, that’s some damned good proof that 15 an hour minimum wage is working.
Epic fail their Steve.LikeLike

Well, well, well. Jeb Bush finally said something I liked. After the firestorm over Jeb’s hurtful term “Anchor Babies”, Jeb told the messy press “come up with a better term and I will use it. That’s what they are.” Anchor Baby is now on the list of things you can’t say in public. Plus, Jeb said he is not sorry. When pressed again by the mainstream, he said he “is not sorry at all. Nope.” Boy, those white Americans sure are getting uppity lately. No more cowering, thanks to the Donald. But, what is this noise coming from one of our country’s most beloved liberals?

Jon @ 10:26 last night.
Gotta concede that point. Yep, let’s get honest. I do not study illegal or legal immigration. I might be the only one here besides Brother Ben that has done a short stint of farm labor, being the only half bred White Priviledged type among a field of Mexicans. Opps, there was one other guy who was a cracker, some old hippy, but I digress. Pay was good, equilavent to what a beginning lab tech or city bus driver was making at the time. Of course it was in a place outside of the farm valley and I was low on gas. Saw a sign that read Hiring, so I pulled over and hoped in the field.
All My stories go back to the late 70’s and 80’s, so take that into consideration. I noticed back then (in CA) first it was the tear-off crews for roofers that were Spanish speaking only. Then the painters and all the sheet rockers, dry wallers, if you prefer. Then the masons and framers, so, sure, Jon is correct. Non English speakers own the construction labor industry down south of here, all hired by contractors. I say lets get honest. Score one for Here’s Johnnie.
I have even been approached twice by contractors (one in LA and one up here) to run the labor crew cause I hablo a bit of Esponal. I refused. Two reasons. First, I do not like construction business at all cause I don’t have the straight eye and everything I do is wrong (basically not interested), and secondly, I have a moral conflict with being involved/ hired to oversee illegals aliens, aka, wetbacks. Like, that is soooo wrong.
Legal residents/ temps with green cards I have no issue with in the least. Lot of Dr’s and lawyers and various skilled technicians from the Mexico City area are here in the USA working in the trades to support their families back home. Yep, let’s get honest.
Some say the term Anchor Babies is vulgar. I say listening to those that say that and looking at their ugly mugs is vulgar in and of itself.

Walt 950pm – The ‘tomorrow’ referred to tonight’s dinner when those tasty ribs will be consumed. We were a mite stuffed from the BBQ last night to light into another load of meat 😉
BillT 714am – I’ll toss my hat into the farm laborer ring here. As I have described, I spent three summers plus working on Jack Maschmeyer’s farm as stoop labor harvesting field crops under a hot and humid Indiana sun. We had no set aside rest periods, or shade, or water jugs. Among our crew of five teenagers it was a matter of honor not to bitch about being tired, hot, or thirsty – no pussies allowed on those fields. Later my first sergeant in the Army would relish such episodes and call them “Good trainin’!” He was right.LikeLike

Since the question about George Soros and his purchase of coal stocks is not being answered I will attempt to address it.
First, I think that people who claim a leadership position in the battle against anthropogenic warming and its impacts on people, the planet and species, do bear a responsibility to act and set an example, and I am disappointed that George Soros purchased just over $2 m in coal company stock.
http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/aug/19/climate-philanthropist-george-soros-invests-millions-in-coal
I believe that private sector leaders, public institutions and non-profit organizations that lead on this issue should divest themselves of investments in carbon polluting industries and should use their investments to leverage the types of positive change we seek to see happen.
George Soros should divest. Mr. Soros uses a considerable amount of his $24.2 billion fortune on climate smart investments and he should continue to do so, and set an example by divesting himself of Peabody and Arch.
Jon is not responsible for the actions of George Soros, just as many of you here say you are not responsible for the investments that the Koch brother make.
Just as the fossil fuel industry is not monolithic in its approach neither is the the community of anthropogenic climate change community. Many have very different ideas about what the correct energy policy moving forward should be. I know many died in the wool climate activists who believe that micro-nucelar is going to be the solution. There are many that believe that creating a truly ‘clean’ coal industry is possible with terrestrial sequestration (I happen to think the technology is not there yet).
I am on record here many times saying that the shift to carbon neutral energy policy is not going to be quick or easy. We are going to depend upon some form of fossil fuels for a substantive portion of our energy mix for at least the next 50 years and perhaps longer. But that does not mean that there are not things we can do in the mean time to reduce the carbon intensity of fossil fuel use.
We can increase CAFE standards so the amount and intensity of vehicle related emission are reduced. We can convert diesel fleets to natural gas and hybrid electric vehicle. We can create all electric short haul fleets (I personally know many people in business who have done this and it has substantially reduced costs at the same time). We can increase rail transport. We can increase the blend of new biofuels made from non-food related sources to simultaneously address fuel and food prices. We can increase non-motorized transportation (like walking and biking).
We can and should do what we can do with the technology we have at hand and we should be investing in substantially increasing funding for research and development of new technologies to solve the problem the future. We don’t get there by requiring everyone to wear a hair shirt, we get there by making renewable and clean energy cheaper and more convenient than dirty energy.
And people who claim the mantle of leadership, like George Soros, should lead by example by divesting themselves of fossil fuels.LikeLike

Jon is not responsible for the actions of George Soros, just as many of you here say you are not responsible for the investments that the Koch brother make.
There was no claim that jon was responsible for the action of Soros. He did spend a fair amount of time mocking Walt by saying, and I’m paraphrasing, “That we weren’t going to be returning to use of those ancient fossil fuels”.
As you stated in the post above, fossil fuels will continue to by consumed for the foreseeable future. Mr. Soros as a forward looking investor knows this as well.
The issue wasn’t to have jon answer for Soros choice, it was to have him acknowledge that smarter people the he know this and have acted upon it.LikeLike

Koch Brothers have 60,000 employees and many businesses making and selling things. George Soros manipulates money, currencies to make his dough. Plus he started out taking the possessions of fellow Jews in WW2 while working for the Nazi’s. What a guy!

Isn’t it just like Todd to repeat defamatory bullshit just because his hero Ann Coulter repeats it.
Soros was still a child of 13 when the Nazi’s occupied Hungary in 1944. His father was a lawyer and doctor and had the means to hide him by having a friend take him in masquerading as a Christian child, while the Nazi’s rounded up more than 450,000 Jews and shipped them off to Auschwitz.
Almost the only Hungarian Jews who survived were the ones who were taken in by others, and in his case being taken in by a government official, he was tasked with handing our what amounts to leaflets telling Jews to register with the police. In addition Soros admits that when he was a child he traded currencies to buy food. That was punishable with death under the Nazi government.
To equate that with ‘taking their possessions’ is just a bold-faced lie, and a typical example of how someone who does not share your beliefs is slimed by you.
I have known more than few survivors of the Holocaust. Many of them that I have met did things there were not proud of and that haunted them for the rest of their lives to survive. I once met a man who threw bodies into a pit for 6 months while he waited to die. Is he a murder?
Not a few years ago there were tens of thousands of survivors living in Israel, where they are honored, and remembered. They survived.LikeLike

“Jon” indeed was flinging much mud here ridiculing the mere thought that coal wasn’t going away, and ran away time after time when Soro’s current investing in coal was brought to light. IIRC Jon suggested we wanted to go back to coal while my point was you can’t go back to where you ain’t left.
Personally, while I am obviously am not responsible for the Koch’s investment (they’re not even on my Christmas card list) I don’t have any particular objections to them, either. Oh, and my vote for the Ed Clark/David Koch presidential ticket in 1980 brings me no shame.
No Steve, Soros won’t be divesting his recent coal investments (whose ink hasn’t even dried) anytime soon ; I expect they’re only starting. I’d bet he’ll take profits after the climate scare blows over and coal use is again regulated based on the real pollution it creates which does NOT include CO2.LikeLike

Nope Soros is in it for the money. Seems Soros know damned well a repub WILL be the next President, and the ECO bastard EPA house is going to get fumigated. “O” and Co.’s war on coal and power plants will come to an end. ( was this the plan all along?) How much stocks of the like is “O” squirreling away? ( insider trading) “O” is NO Clinton, and the masses are tired of hearing him yap.
Soros didn’t spend big to lose money, or to to play an ECO hero to own and forever leave that coal in the ground.
Speaking or money to burn rich bastards,, NO LIB has ever accused him of “making too much money” ” He has made enough! ” ( a “joe” and JoeK rant)
I think I will follow Soros’s lead and buy what coal stocks I can.
Right after what I do have has made some sort of a recovery. Yup The LIB FED sure kept the market alive. Now WTF is their plan?
Great job. Only Trump has the knowhow to pick up the pieces of this shattered economy and rebuild.LikeLike

That’s greasy even by your standards…..you’re spending too much time around Pelline…..picking up bad habits.LikeLike

GOV. Moonbeam speaks about servergate.. Boy is this good.
” Gov. Jerry Brown (D-CA) said Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton with have to “use her best imagination” to deal with the growing scandal over her deleting the emails from her tenure of secretary of state and wiping her server clean.
Brown said, “I’m telling you, this email business has a certain buzz that keeps buzzing. And I have a hard time figuring out, why is it such a big deal? But it is and she’ll have to use her best imagination and adroitness to deal with it. So, these are things that happen. it’s still very early. And I hope she can get beyond this because I think as a matter of fact and laws and ethics, these emails are not what the pundits are thinking they are.”
OH Yaaaa. and LIBS want HIM to run?LikeLike

Everyone but Steve seems to have read Jon’s denigrations of anyone who thinks coal is alive and burning. It’s been fun chasing Jon away with but three words:”Soros. Coal. Jon?”. I even posted a photo of a delicious crow on a dinner plate at a formal dinner to give Jon a hint.
I take Soros’ latest investment to be his call that coal stocks are at or near a low, and he expects a big upside in the not very distant future. Who knows, he may be betting on a meltdown not of the polar ice caps but of CO2 regulation, maybe even a bet that the Democrats will not only be homeless (or at least Houseless; Senateless too) but White Houseless in 2017.LikeLike
