Helped Jo Ann and friends work the Republican booth at the fairgrounds today.  We were located between the Vietnam Veterans and the State of Jefferson’s booth with the NC Tea Party beyond them.  It was kinda like old home week on Redneck Row the way we all were lined up with everyone flying several Old Glories to let the passersby get the drift of what we were all about.  Had some interesting conversations with a couple of Dems who dropped in to tell us about our presidential candidates.  They were nice people, but definitely related to the folks at LaMalfa’s do yesterday afternoon (see 11aug15 update here).

The Dems’ booth was tucked away a bit down and across the asphalt from us, real hidden like.  If you looked hard inside you could see a couple of cutouts of Hillary and Bernie.  But except for their sign, it was hard to tell they were an American political party – not one Old Glory in sight.  When I asked about this from one of our Dem visitors, he got a bit red-faced and said he’d go over and ask that same question of the folks in charge.  I didn’t tell him that I wasn’t really surprised since the Dems (now the unabashed Socialists of America) have long ago given up such blatant displays of patriotism because it might offend one of their many dependable ‘God damn America!’ groups of constituents.  The times they are a’changin’.

Speaking of the Dems toppling leftward, I recommend a good read in Jason Riley’s ‘The Democrats’ Socialist Surge’ today.  Riley points out that “Bernie Sanders drew a crowd of 27,500 in Los Angeles on Monday. In the age of Obama, a liberal with a statist agenda fits right in.”  The rebranding of the Democratic Party is not without some heartburn as socialism takes a firm hold. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the head of the Democratic National Committee, was “visibly rattled” when asked recently to explain “the difference between a Democrat and a Socialist.”  Her crickets rose to the occasion with, “The more important question is, ‘What is the difference between being a Democrat and being a Republican?’ ”  Tough sledding ahead.

MSNBC is tired of being at the bottom of the ratings bucket with their constant drizzle of collectivist crap that no one watches.  Its management is tired of selling advertising for pennies on the dollar because MSNBC draws about 50,000 pairs of eyeballs nationwide (not a typo) during times of the day when Fox has forty times as many glued to their cable channel.  So they’re going to can over half of the regular lamestreamers – Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews will be saved – and convert to a “hard news” channel.  And they’ve even hired ol’ Brian Williams, that intrepid war reporter, to spearchuck their rehabilitation.  I guess they figure while they try to dust off their own reputation, they might as well do two for the price of one.  We shall see how the new and improved MSNBC fares in the big boys club with CNN, Fox Business, and Fox News.  (Hopefully this change will also help out our information compressed liberal readers.)

China devalues yuan in prep for its debut into the basket of the world’s trade currencies.  The world’s markets go into semi-hysterics as they attempt to figure out how that is going to influence Team Yellen to go forward with the promised (wink-wink) interest rate hike in October.  If the good lady ups the interest, then the dollar will be at an even greater disadvantage to the yuan, and we all know what that is going to do to the country’s current account, which isn’t all that healthy as it is.  I guess it will be time to strap on the knee pads again and ask supreme leader Xi to buy more Treasurys – what’s $18T and change when $20T is such a nice round national debt number and within easy reach?  Meanwhile America’s businesses are dusting off and hanging up their ‘Rig for Ram!’ signs.

RR readers have been in an understandable dust-up with the EPA spawned toxic waste water gusher that started in Colorado, and now promises to become an equal opportunity disaster across several western states (see comment stream here).  Predictably some liberal commenters instantly weighed in with the diagnosis that this was all the fault of greedy capitalism, and the owners of the messed with mine should be held accountable.  Well, there are almost 20,000 abandoned mines in the west, most with heavy metals water in them.  The heavy metals are indigenous to the mineral strata of the mines, as is the water that fills the abandoned tunnels – in short, the ‘pollution’ in the abandoned mines is quite natural, and its repositories also quite stable unless you mess with it when you don’t know what you’re doing.  And when it comes to messing, the EPA has demonstrated its arrogance and ignorance now for almost two generations.  (Left-leaning local readers would be surprised at the kind of waters stored in the tunnels of Nevada County’s abandoned mines.)  But all that don’t make no never mind to those used to lecturing ex cathedra about matters environmental.  In any case, we’ll soon get to see whether Garrett Hardin’s tongue-in-cheek ‘The solution to pollution is dilution’ really works.

[13aug15 update]  Given the latest emails revelations, Hillary is most certainly a criminal of a particularly high level.  Men and women have gone to jail for a lot less when illegally handling classified materials and lying to federal investigators.  We are told that she has now compromised TOP SECRET/NOFORN (with a bunch of letters thrown in) materials which are essentially the most secret and sensitive documents that our country can produce.  Martha Stewart became a felon did time for lying to federal investigators and obstructing an investigation regarding securities trading.  Over the past months and years Hillary has done much, much more from a position of national trust that now has compromised the entire country.  An RR reader posted this link to the Daily Beast which really belongs here.  Let's see what kind of an autocracy this administration has become that will keep her from being indicted and remanded for trial, instead of continuing to campaign for president.

Good work Doc,, seems you have more than one booth to help out on “redneck row” ( I like that) Three hats to wear, yet pretty much interchangeable, and welcome in any given one.
I’m not surprised the Commie booth is hid in the weeds. Probably a pretty lonely place.
Last year the Tea Party booth was plenty active and was never short on visitors.
The DEM booth looked like a marooned lifeboat.
I don’t think the DEMS could draw a crowd even if they were giving away free samples of our “underground economy”. ( one would need to be on drugs to vote Progressive these days)
    Keep up the great work.

    Walt@06:17PM,
I am not so sure it is over. In Idaho the fine ground material in the water cemented the gravel where the water bug live and the fish depend on for food. Once the water bugs were sealed in fine ground particles, the fish died of starvation and Panther Creek below the Blackbird Creek all the way to the Salmon river became a dead zone, no bugs, no fish, and the birds suffered and moved on. The ERA came and removed the cemented gravel, and in ten years the fish started to return. When all that yellow crap settles on the bottom, the water bugs are going die and the fish will soon follow. We will have another EPA created dead zone.
The EPA keeps meddling in these closed mines as they need a new reason to exist, after cleaning the air of smog. At some point the air is cleaner than nature made it and the EPA needs a new mission. They are clueless D students from our finest liberal universities seeking a reason to exist. You can expect more disasters like this one, as they are clueless about now nature works.

I thought the League of Nations banned chemical warfare way back when. But, no, the heavy oppressive hand of the Federal Government still is smashing things on its wanton lust for more power. Wonder what Steve and Co have in mind for next week?
I know, we are small, you are big. We lost, you won. But to poison the innocent is nothing new. The Feds used to pass out blankets laden with small pox to the injuns, so this is their long established MO. Why some love the Federal EPA, aka, the Grim Reaper, is beyond me.
Ok, sweep it under the rug. Take a page from Hillary. EXCLUSIVE: Tech company which maintained Hillary’s secret server was sued for ‘illegally accessing’ database and ‘stealing White House military advisers’ phone numbers’

Platte River Networks was used by Clinton to maintain ‘homebrew’ server in her New York State house which held her State Department emails
She handed over the server and a thumb drive this week to FBI after emails were found to contain ‘above top secret’ material
Her White House campaign is said to be in ‘panic’ over the growing scandal which comes out of probe into US diplomats’ deaths in Benghazi
Daily Mail Online can reveal Denver, Colorado, based firm was sued for illegally accessing master database of US phone numbers
It was also accused of causing chaos to White House military advisers when their numbers stopped working as it took their numbers
Case raises questions over how Platte River Networks’ ability to secure server which would have been major target for foreign spy hackers

She’s actually going to find away to fumble the ball!

Hey Psaul….Orange just might be the new black….or Pants Suit Blue!

It’s high time for a special prosecutor to be named to conduct a full investigation into Ms. Clinton’s likely commission of multiple felonies, including a conspiracy with Huma Abedin, Cheryl Mills, and possibly others, to violate multiple laws.
While the FBI and Department of Justice have willfully ignored Hillary Clinton’s outrageous conduct, they didn’t hesitate a minute to investigate and prosecute former CIA Director and national hero, General Petraeus. He was just tarred, feathered and ridden out of the CIA on a rail for sharing some information (his own notebook) with his biographer who was both in the military and had a top secret clearance. Yet, Petraeus did not have a secret server set up to house his classified and top secret information or digital satellite imagery; he destroyed nothing; and, there was no “leak.” But that’s not all. During the same years that Hillary was communicating about national security and world affairs off the grid, the Department of Justice has had no qualms threatening news reporters and prosecuting whistleblowers under the Espionage Act. To hell with the First Amendment and Supreme Court precedent, even the New York Times reported that this administration prosecuted more reporters and whistleblowers for “espionage” than all prior administrations put together.

fish 351pm – These comment streams have been filled by liberals castigating those who have long maintained that Benghazi and the derivative email scandal would not go away and would continue to grow. Yesterday at the Republican booth I had walk-in Dems totally dismiss the email scandal as something cooked up by the radical Right (as they demonstrated their painful ignorance of what is going on in the country). It would be good to hear from these RR readers as to how they and theirs are doing as the Hillary campaign implodes.

The Democratic dunderheads are beyond belief. Today they let out that the President may visit Cuba before the end of the year (Why??!!), and then derided the Republican led Congress for not passing legislation to close Gitmo. The same imbeciles had no idea that Congress can’t do that until the White House presents them with a plan on what to do with the detainees, a plan that has not been completed for over six years. This afternoon when mouthpiece Josh Earnest was asked about that, he assured everyone in the press room that the administration was working “diligently” on completing said plan. Is there ANYTHING that this administration has done right? (BTW, this is a serious question.)
And now we also learn that ISIS used mustard gas two days ago against the Kurds in Iraq. It’s not the first time they’ve used chemical WMDs in Iraq and Syria. And where did they get their WMDs? Well Syria, of course, which was where Saddam shipped them when he was finally convinced we were going to invade. And the numbnuts in the WH think that Assad had given up his chemical weapons, while the rest of the world shook their heads in disbelief. It is clear to most of us that ISIS has literally an endless supply of WMDs captured from Syrian hideaways. Among those who don’t understand any of this are our local Lefties.

Hillary did exactly as predicted. Turned over a blank server. Easy to do, but it takes time. About 2 years, exactly the amount of time that has passed since she was told to turn over her State Department records after bumping her head and leaving gobberment. SOP. No Hillary, you can’t take them with ya. No way was she going to give up her donor lists, government personnel files, and planning parties at The Foundation with her as the guest of honor on our State Department’s time and dime without a fight. No way. Remember, this is the woman who took the White House China and left claw marks on the curtains as they dragged her out kicking and screaming just in the nick of time as George and Laura to moved in. Close call I hear, but I digress.
All you techies out there know how it is done. Remove and erase all the e-mails and the good stuff from your server. Then grab some brand new guts and stick it in the server. Clean as a whistle and absolutely nothing on it. No history. “Eat that G-men” she cackled.
Boy o boy, such a relief Hillary of Rose Law Firm finally complied after a Fed Judge started counting to three (again, but this time he actually meant it ) and the FBI said turn it over now or we will toss your drooping buttocks along with your sagging chili peppers in the pokey. So, she gave them a server alright. Reminiscent of what the definition is is.
Have to admit I like her style. Another Clinton day, another dollar. Hey, didn’t our government personnel files just get hacked??

I have been an avid/daily reader of RR for about 4 years, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth commentary from the back row of the theater. Although at first I was skeptical of the “Conservatarian” slant of Dr. Rebane and others here, I have come to respect their willingness to actually publish a doctrine of their beliefs, and then constantly defend them against the politically correct minions that invade our county.
I have had the benefit of living and working in California since birth, where I currently raise young children. Although we are a 2 income household, and have a stronger financial advantage than most when compared to others of the “younger generation,” I have decided to give up the fight against the grossly understated COL in CA. As such, my family and I have decided to move to the Silver State, where our dollars go further and the family can enjoy a much better QOL and a brighter future.
After being a reader of RR, I felt the need to post this to show the participants here that there are those of a younger stripe that still pay attention to politics and government, especially since those of us working and raising families have “skin in the game.” I might add that after having conversations with some in my age bracket, it quickly became apparent that others are also considering making a move to another more economically friendly state, if they have not left already.
The point of this post was to reflect the truth of the talk of a “great migration,” and the ridiculous financial sufferings of small business and the middle class at the hands of government, mainly here in the great state of CA. It is not so much that California is not an unworthy place to live, as it is the “out of touch” politicians and NGO bloodhounds that erode the QOL of hard-working families. They invade the halls of government to create burdensome regulations and taxes, all whilst the working families support them with taxpayer dollars. As such, I can no longer justify raising a family here, when greener pastures await in other states that actually believe in alleviating the sufferings of the middle class, and every house for sale is not bought out by the Bay Area robber barons who feel that “only the homeowners” should have a say in affordable housing and the affairs of the community.
I would encourage Dr. Rebane to continue his work to enlighten his growing readership of the poisonous rhetoric and promises of the Progressives, as hopefully more Californians of the newer generation can come to realize that most of the ills we experience here in CA can be traced back to Sacramento.
After a long and honest day’s work, I made it a point to watch the first of hopefully many Republican Nominee Debates, and I was glad to see that there still exists folk in government that still believe in a free-market system and individualism. Hopefully a majority of Americans in the younger generation still believe this as well.

They are a profane potty mouth bunch I tell ya. If they don’t like the way I drive, they should get the heck off the sidewalks. They can all go eat a bug.
Walt, I will forego the links and relay an antedotal story that happened 24 hours ago. I was conversing with a nice Nevada City lady who is a life long Democrat. She brought up the topic of The Donald, not me. Had a smile on her face. Said people are just sick and tired of the politicians doing the same ole same ole. She mentioned Fergusen briefly as I remained silent. Then I said that I heard a rumor that women like Trump. I told her that everyone is saying not to arrest blacks as much (the black criminals) and how all their proposals are more sensitivity training for cops, etc. I told her (a mother of two grown boys) that when The Donald was asked what he would do for the black community, he said he would send in more cops. Oh, she loved it. She lite up like a Christmas Tree and said “that would make the mothers worried about their kids feel safer and the kids safer too.” She got it instantly.
She said she would like to vote for Trump, but can’t. She is a registered Dem for decades. I told her she can vote for anyone she chooses! I told her she can vote for Barry Sanders. She never heard of him and has not bothered to follow the candidates (this soon in the election cycle) yet. That will come later when most folks start tuning in in 12-13 months.
The point is: Here is a Nevada City organic type that is too busy to even know who is running, but she likes Trump and loves him and follows him. Walt, your Man knows how to treat women, even them Dem women from Nirvana City.

stevenf 849pm – Poor reading skills in evidence again. RR covered the planning of Jade Helm exercises because of their uniqueness in the history of our country’s affairs of state – putatively to train certain military, federal agency, and local police to counter terrorist units operating in Conus (continental US). That is the federal story of conspiracy in action, and one not started by anyone else. No one here or from the government predicted that these extra-constitutional Conus-based exercises would result in anything other than what was quietly advertised. (Even Members of Congress received no offered briefings on Jade Helm, but had to initiate their own discovery of what was planned and why.)
But since the feds under Obama will never identify ‘radical Islam’ as America’s terrorist enemy, and since the HSA has formally stated that the country’s greatest domestic threat comes from rightwing Christians and veterans, it gives those of with such appellations pause, and that especially since these federal extra-constitutional exercises are now scheduled to repeat annually within Conus boundaries.
As promised, the conduct of JH-15 is being monitored by various groups in the affected states. Google ‘Jade Helm 2015’ for more information. But what your comment most clearly illustrates and confirms is that you understand very little of what is posted in these pages. Nevertheless, the exhibition of such (mis)understandings is a continuing revelation of the liberal mind, and therefore much welcomed.

It was so funny to see these people try and justify Hillary and Bernie as “patriots”. I do enjoy a good verbal smackdown debate but unlike the liberals who love the “F” bomb I keep it clean. They then realize their propaganda doesn’t work and their provocations fail, so they turn tail back over to the comfortable confines of the almost unattended democrat booth.
I wonder why such a true believer on all things liberal/left like Frisch never shows up at the County Fair. After all it is the county the liberal resides in.
    See you all tonight!
