[While the recent revival of MJ ordinance updates are being sorted out in the overflowing 10jul15 sandbox, here's a fresh one. I would invite consideration of the columns in the 15jul15 Union written by liberal Lynn Wenzel and conservative Norm Sauer (paywalled here and here). Both speak to the Constitution as a "living document" that today writhes this way and that under the vagaries of SCOTUS' new legislative powers instead of its established process of amendments. According to my lights, that fundamental difference of how we view laws and our foundational document is the ripping point for the Great Divide. gjr]

The potsters seem to have been given the perfect excuse by the FEDS, but in haze of dope smoke haven’t seen it threw the slits for eyes.
What I’m reefering to, what the FEDS said about “sanctuary cities”. ” We just have no control over them”. ( yes they do,, they just refuse to.) The FEDS claim control over all things immigration. ( just ask Arizona about that) The FEDS claim control over all drugs,( yup,,,dope is a drug.)
So use the FEDS excuse about free range illegals with plenty of criminal history, to your advantage.
Now that will be fun to watch.
On the dope front,, “IF” weed is legalized in the state, how will Moonbat treat dope being smuggled in from Mexico? The same as Illegals? ( More the better) That will sure hamper Mom and Pop SSI supplementers. ( those that sneak under the radar of BIG dope, who will be out to make sure the small timers don’t make a dime. ( As we speak BIG dope is greasing the palms in SAC and writing the new regulations that will forbid small operations. ( Don’t believe me? Just wait and see.)LikeLike

Walt@12:09PM
It is easier to collect the taxes from several BIG drug companies, then it is to collect from hundreds of little growers. It is easier to get political donations from several BIG drug companies, than it is from hundreds of little growers. It easier to get graft from several BIG drug companies, than hundreds of little growers. Given these facts, it is clear MJ will be legal and the market will be controlled by BIG industrial growers. The little growers will be screwed by the very laws that the little guys are promoting.LikeLike
-
Yes siree Russ, and the likes of our local dopers don’t comprehend that.
The tax idea is a joke, and the state will spend more in bureaucrats than what it may take in as taxes. You can only tax what can be reasonably controlled. Dope will still be sold on the street like it is today. The pot shops will only get the “tourist” traffic.
Once legal, I could grow and “supply” every person I know, just like the dopers do today,
and there will be no one to really stop me. Hell.. They don’t really stop anyone today.
Save for the token bust here or there.LikeLike

Well it appears for now the Feds are not happy about one Indian tribe, the Pit River tribe in Alturas getting into the pot business. The just raided their 40 greenhouse farm and destroyed their 12,000 medicinal pot plant crop. Maybe they didn’t grease the right palm? They have the potential to grow 40-60k plants at this site, which qualifies as big in my book.

The EPA’s Gina McCarthy on the .01 degree C reduction of temps forecast for the CO2 reductions she’s pushing:
‘The value of this rule is not measured in that way. (Temperature impact) It is measured in showing strong domestic action which can actually trigger global action to address what’s a necessary action to protect…I’m not disagreeing that this action in and of itself will not make all the difference we need to address climate action, but what I’m saying is that if we don’t take action domestically we will never get started and we’ll never…’

Sounds just like the justifications for AB32… we’ll be showing the world how to do it and they’ll all follow us, rather than take advantage of even cheaper fossil fuels on the world market because we’re buying less.LikeLike

Progressive Progress – LA Times ‘Los Angeles Garment Industry Frets Over Pay Hike’
http://www.wsj.com/articles/los-angeles-garment-industry-frets-over-pay-hike-1436986903
The $15 minimum pay will make LA factories uncompetitive, forcing them to either shut down or move out of town. One more piece of evidence pouring in that the Left doesn’t give a crap about the workers, especially those also too stupid to understand that supporting politicians promising higher wages through government mandates will actually help to pauper and prime them for government dole. Another tranche of solid Democratic voters.LikeLike

Doc. .. that would just apply to the “front of the house”. The “back of the house” will still get their workers by the container load from China. They bitch,, they get sent back in another container with the cloths that they made. They have figured out it’s WAY cheaper to just ad the label “made in China” right here. The slave labor sweat shops are alive and well in L.A.

The Alinsky method is getting another workout from Team Obama. As with many other of his failed initiatives starting with Obamacare and amnesty, he now claims that the Iran deal is the best that could be achieved because no one has given him any workable alternatives. Workable alternatives have always been provided him, but if his lamestream does not report them, then only Team Obama’s message is heard by the gruberized. All of that is in the book.
This morning another much better alternative is reviewed for him.

So as we get more details of 0’s cave to iran we get the heartwarming story from the lead negotiator (who also did so well with north korea) spoke of tears in they eyes of Kerry and the Iranians, aww. She also acknowledged that anywhere, anytime inspections were mere flights of rhetoric. Surprised?? They also agreed that NO Americans would be part of the inspection teams!! We agreed to WHAT?!?! Anyone remember how well the non-American IAEA folks did in Iraq or the supposed embargo on Iraq that sadam bribed his way out of? I wonder how much of the 100 billion for iran ends up as bribes to UN personnel. Instead of preventing a nuclear arms race in the gulf this joke foisted upon us by the likes of the idiot energy secty and learch on behalf of 0 ensures a massive ramp up of arsenals and the mood to use them. Lets hope its killed in congress soon. Could this result in Israel and the Saudis cooperating in a pre-emptive strike, they both have the latest 16-s and the right weapons for their strike eagles? There has still been no explanation of the reported meeting between sr. Air Force officer from both.

The Huffington Post announced this morning that its coverage of Donald Trump’s run for president will no longer be covered in the political section but moved to the entertainment section. “Our reason is simple: Trump’s campaign is a sideshow. We won’t take the bait. If you are interested in what The Donald has to say, you’ll find it next to our stories on the Kardashians and The Bachelorette.”
They should move all of the republican candidates to the entertainment section as they all are a joke when it comes to doing anything positive or useful for the country and the planet (billionaires excepted if helping them is actually useful). And for those of you who will respond with the stock BS reply, no Hillary is NOT my candidate and the democratic party is NOT my party, and I am NOT what you would call a liberal.
Walt, I notice you didn’t mention Diebold voting machines along with voter fraud, the two are synonymous and in an effort to be truthful, should always be included in any discussion of voter fraud. Otherwise the rest of the story isn’t being told.LikeLike
-
“So as we get more details of 0’s cave to iran” Don, you would be interested to know that the radical religious right in Iran also doesn’t like the deal either. They are saying that Rouhani caved in to the west sacrificing their ability to defend themselves (with nuclear bombs) and are cozying up to the West. Go figure.

” I wonder if Hillary’s campaign will then be moved to fiction short stories section.” — It’s possible, but I don’t think Hillary is a short story, more of a long novel. However, she actually did get elected to the Senate and did serve her country as Sec. of State (both non-fiction) while Trump has never been elected to anything and only serves himself.

Even Col. Sanders is leading in the polls. Now he is having some issues. There is many a state where he can’t run as a DEM. So what will he do? He can’t claim to be independent in one, and DEM. in another. The Socialist will need to make a decision.

Walt, The Trumpster will not make it past the 2nd month of primaries. Its all for his personal promotion of his brand. He is oblivious for the damage he is causing to the Repub Brand. Even favorite sons like Rick Perry have had it with him, as he is precluding any hope he and others have of getting an iota of attention from the media- ie, no debate exposure, no media appearances. Trump continues to hurt the Brand, as he damages and portrays the real front runners like Bush and Walker as weak on every conceivable issue.

Here’s a kitty krunchy in the sandbox… Pelline is attacking the old guys here via their children and grandchildren… does that mean attacking Pelline through his kid is now fair game?
In a beautiful bit of irony, a part of the attack is that you old guy’s kids and grandkids don’t live in the county… but then Jeffie waxes eloquently about how he’s shlepping his kid from the Bay Area to Reno for educational experiences.
As Bugs used to say, what a maroon! what an ignoranimus! Jeff, if you want to know what it takes for a kid to get into MIT, just ask. Hint: first, avoid Common Core mathematics at all costs.LikeLike

Gregory 507pm – Pelline in my view has always ranged between the insane and the uninformed. What is his point about our “kids and grandkids (not living) in the county”? Most of our generation moved here from elsewhere, and in the process moved away from our kids, at least from those who already had not moved away from us. It doesn’t seem that the man is able to connect any of the dots on how families migrate after kids leave the nest and strike out on their own. Is there a more ignorant public voice in Nevada County?
