[While the recent revival of MJ ordinance updates are being sorted out in the overflowing 10jul15 sandbox, here's a fresh one. I would invite consideration of the columns in the 15jul15 Union written by liberal Lynn Wenzel and conservative Norm Sauer (paywalled here and here). Both speak to the Constitution as a "living document" that today writhes this way and that under the vagaries of SCOTUS' new legislative powers instead of its established process of amendments. According to my lights, that fundamental difference of how we view laws and our foundational document is the ripping point for the Great Divide. gjr]

The Tea Party strategic plan was always to capture the GOP from within. To expand at the lower levels and then move up the chain of command. According to a WSJ front page article this strategy seems to be working:
After two presidential victories, Mr. Obama presides over a Democratic Party that has lost 13 seats in the U.S. Senate and 69 in the House during his tenure, a net loss unmatched by any modern U.S. president.
Democrats have also lost 11 governorships, four state attorneys general, 910 legislative seats, as well as the majorities in 30 state legislative chambers. In 23 states, Republicans control the governor’s office and the legislature; Democrats, only seven.
Such losses help shape the future: An ousted state lawmaker doesn’t run for Congress; a failed attorney general candidate loses a shot at the governor’s office. As a result, the flow of fresh political talent rising to statewide and national prominence in the years ahead won’t be as robust as Democrats hope.
2016 could be a real challenge for Hillary if the Tea Party gets the candidate they want for President.LikeLike

Breaking News!!! Local poster and all around well intentioned guy with that big big heart got his name on a flyer I saw flapping in the wind down in Penntucky. The flyer was announcing the appearance of Bernie Sanders at an upcoming Nevada County rally! Come hear The Bernard, the Honorable and Legally Elected Ayatollah of Progressive rock and rolla, Mr BS himself, Bernie Sanders. Further reading revealed Bernardo will be addressing us via the Internet. Bummer, man.
However disappointing the news that us local yokel enthusiasts would not really see the self-proclaimed and proud card carrying pinko socialist in the flesh, the REAL Breaking News is the guest speaker will be our own home grown Mr. Ben Emery. Wow. Double wow. Local bleeding heart makes the big time.
Kudos to Ben for this milestone honor. Make us proud, Brother Ben, make us proud. Make those Corporate Fat Cats do the squirmy wormie dance.
Give ’em hell, Benjamin. Save the best red meat for last. Maybe come up with a good joke as an icebreaker since you, unfortunately, will be addressing an intense, angry, unhappy, negative glum lot. You can to it, Ben Emery. You can bring the house down after the video speech by Bernard. Tell the joke about the rich banker falling down the marble stairs and breaking his neck. That always gets them going. Go Ben, Go!LikeLike

I wonder if these results would have been the same without all the corporate money provided to the right via Citizen’s United. It is a documented fact that whoever spends the most usually wins. The right gloats over their victories but the likes of Barry Bonds and A-Rod cast a pall over those accomplishments.LikeLike

fish 8:08 –I didn’t lose anything, a court stacked by republicans made a decision (barely related to the original case) that gives billionaires a significant advantage in influencing elections. Just how does one get legislation passed when the legislators on on the dole? I don’t get how “libertarians” or what ever non-republican republicans call themselves, can support such a travesty as the Citizens decision, except that they can now spout off about “winning” and beating those damn liberals. I suppose you think playing with a stacked deck is just fine as long as you win. Incidentally, a recent study found that 41% of those on the extremes of party politics (both parties) say that “winning” elections is more important than the policies of their parties. Folks go off about individualism and freedom, yet they don’t even flinch when about the only method of change in a republic (elections) is sold off to the highest bidder.

I said that democracy leads inevitably to oligarchy so this is your world JoKe. We libertarian/conservatives merely live in it.

Maybe someone in the progressive vanguard can “persuade” Ruth Bader Ginsburg to retire so President Clinton can start the process of stacking the deck in your favor.

OH… Listen to a LIB about “deck stacking”. Now there is a good one.
Just who has Wall St. shoveled money into like a hungry furness? “O” and Co.
When LIBS get caught stuffing the ballot box, Lib investigators and LIB media stonewall and bury it.
The LIB gov. can use it’s power to attack Conservatives and not a damned thing is really done. (IRS VS. Tea Party)
Try harder next time JoKe.LikeLike

Honestly, reading Kio-te’9:17 am I just shake my head at people like him. Here it is the last month his ilk got ObamaCare approved and homosexual marriage and other issues he favors and he still call the SCOTUS stacked against him. Liberals want t 100% compliance or they will do a “death to America”. Amazing hubris.
