[New month, new sandbox. The 30may15 sandbox seems to have turned into a kitty litter box with all the congealed poop balls flying back and forth. Perhaps the participants there will want to retain that venue for continuing those enthusiastic labors and use this new one for more edifying discourse. I for one am interested in what readers think about the Patriot Act's renewal and the trade-offs between our liberties and security. gjr]

Re RussS 640am – Walt has been severely taken to task by some of our liberal readers for reporting apparent surveillance flights over western Nevada County. The government has been conducting such flights for years, and has now intensified them with additional manned (and instrumented) aircraft and drones. Associated Press has been attempting to investigate the FBI’s involvement for some time. FBI conducts these flights through a collection of fictitious government-front companies.

Great – please do tell us, jon. What are your morals?
I see that you think the Kochs should not be allowed to spend their own money as they see fit. Why only those 2? And what laws, exactly, should be passed? Your buddy Bernie says repeatedly that he will ‘go after them’. Never says what he’ll actually do.
I know there is this fever among the grubers to ‘get the money’ out of politics, but politicians need to get votes and Americans have chosen to use TV ads as their prime source of info about candidates.
No matter how much ‘free’ TV time we give candidates or how much public money we hand out, the pols will always being looking for an advantage over the other candidates. A union boss can tell candidate A “I can deliver X million votes if you play ball with us after you are elected”.
The election system would still be corrupt even though no money was involved.
This fixation with the Koch bros is a distraction from the real failures of an over-bearing govt.

Dr. Rebane:
Interesting article about the FBI. Beale AFB trains over Grass Valley with their ground intelligence gathering aircraft. It is a MC-12W Liberty and it flies low enough to see it clearly with binoculars and to make out the plane type with the naked eye. Here is a link to photos of it at Beale.

It used to circle over about once a week but now I only see it about once a month. Here is a link to a fact sheet on the aircraft.

It can gather phone and video communications, maybe even listen to conversations and transmit all of this to ground troops and/or command.
I am guessing that they are training here as they were deployed to Afghanistan. I could not see the strategic value of Grass Valley to a mission like that. Listening to the boring conversation between my wife and I, they deserve combat pay. I always wonder what they do with the data after they are done?

My 757am attempted to continue highlighting the different worlds in which the Right and Left live, in this case through the realities they embrace that are dependent on the news sources they consider accurate and comprehensive.

It was easier to find out where it was, and been, when I found that flight trader website.

One of the Lindley-headed companies shares a post office box openly used by the Justice Department.
Such elusive practices have endured for decades. A 1990 report by the then-General Accounting Office noted that, in July 1988, the FBI had moved its “headquarters-operated” aircraft into a company that wasn’t publicly linked to the bureau.
The FBI does not generally obtain warrants to record video from its planes of people moving outside in the open, but it also said that under a new policy it has recently begun obtaining court orders to use cell-site simulators. The Obama administration had until recently been directing local authorities through secret agreements not to reveal their own use of the devices, even encouraging prosecutors to drop cases rather than disclose the technology’s use in open court.”

Scott, not claiming any religious/moral authority. I am asking a Christian such as yourself what Jesus would think about persons with untold billions throwing it around to make a government conform to their self interest? Is there anywhere in scriptures where the pursuit and use of one’s money is encouraged and/or considered blessed? I cannot find it. Just looking for a simple opinion, not even a biblical analysis.

ScottO, why is it that atheists are always citing “what would Jesus do” questions when they are non believers? My goodness, Koch brothers own money being spent to protect the freedom of the American people? How terrible the minds of people on the left to think that is a bad thing. Of course, nothing said about Soros etal, and the Hillary Clinton Slush funds. Now we learn she received money from investors of the Keystone Pipeline while Secretary of State.
Lastly, I never answer the Jesus question and in fact ask the non believer to cite the provisions or verses that he/she thinks apply. They never respond.

Todd. even our fire planes will show up on that site. ( as long as they are on radar.)
As for the overpasses, the freeways are part of the national defence system. Some of our “hardware” that needs to be trucked is now taller when loaded,(like MRAPS) and not all overpasses have on and off ramps allowing for a bypass.That’s just my educated guess.
We found that out when the Rough&Ready navy launched their one and only battle ship, back in 78. ( A Mr. Walters had built a fishing boat along old HY20,, and that’s what we started to called it, and it stuck)

I’m simply trying to solicit knowledgable Christian opinions about Big Money being used in politics and whether or not it is compatible with biblical teachings, especially for those evangelicals and others making literal readings. Is the application of big money and capitalism in human interaction thought to be a good thing?

jon – the Koch bros honestly feel that they are trying to influence popular opinion and the govt in a way that makes the govt more accountable to everyone. They know that a govt that works for them works for everyone. You may disagree, but you have the right to influence govt to your ideal. The Koch bros are not trying to take away that right.
BTW – you might want to google ALL the ways that the Koch bros spread their money around.
As far as what Jesus might say, we see in the Bible that he did not like folks who would lie about what they donate to the church. And he knew that for some, wealth and posessions were a hindrance to their ability to have a relationship with the living God.
I’m not aware that the Koch bros are seeking a ‘blessing’ from Christ for anything they do. There are a few certain Democrats that claim they are doing the work of Christ. Pelosi, Gov Brown, etc.

Our liberal friends have no idea about how agitated and disappointed Republican activists are about their party’s doings, especially when they cave on stated principles as they go along to get along with the progressives’ agenda. Else the lamestream and their local liberal choruses start singing their ‘Repubs, the party of NO’ anthem. The sheeple have also been taught that Congress is only “productive” when it passes new laws.

Yo Walt. Remember that slow moving bright thing I witnessed in the sky. That one what broke off a piece that disappeared. I never finished the story. When that piece broke off and circled back in an upward spin, the final second or seconds I lost it in the trees. So, I do like the mother ship dropping a pod theory. And I had a better view of it looking more of a side facing view than the video clips you saw on the web.
Imagine coming home very late from work in the dark,, being greeted by my daughter and her boyfriend on the porch steps (locked out, I took the spare key when I couldn’t find my set in the morning, Opps), then telling them it’s been a long rough day and I need a smoke before anything else. Walked straight to the back deck, heard a Wow from the boyfriend and a big wow erupted from all three of our throats. Never seen anything like it in all my born days.
Made international news everywhere put here. Go figure. Slow moving ice ball, Dr. Rebane?? Sure, it could have been a big illusion of speed (slow), size (bigger than any shooting star or comet I have ever witnessed), with a long, long, long trail (lit up the sky and trail went from the Eastern horizon to Western sky, aka, long)….sure, it could have been a hunk of ice. Yep, baby, it’s cold out there. But, I’ll side with Walt on this one. And, yes, I was not off my head meds. Been taking them faithfully. The mothership passed by, dropping a baby like humans give birth. Or, was it the FBI? I did catch a glimpse of what perhaps could be described as the shadow of the one armed man in the faint distance on a yet to be named grassy knoll. 🙂

Scott, hey thanks. I think much of those bible tales all hocus pocus anyway.
I think the philosophies espoused by Jesus in dealing with other people and our natural world are timeless and correct. Seems to me he was pretty forceful in his feelings about the pursuit of money in general. Not sure I see where he separated good rich people from bad rich people.
Those Kochs are such wonderful stewards of our American values and our natural world.

Thanks for “the rest of the story” Bill. I sure wish I had got a look at that as it passed over. Went back and reviewed that vid., and I’m not convinced of a close flyby of a midgit commit either. I’m no scientist, but what I see there defies simple physics.( but what the hell do I know?)
From your point of view, did the “tail” look reminiscent of the Russian meteor that hit?
Or more gassy than “smokeish”? ( If you can recall.. it’s been a while)
That would give more of an indicator of how deep into the atmosphere it could have been.
But seeing the actual rotation in the vid., that had to have been real big, or real close.
I am a firm believer that we are not the only intelligent life in the vastness of space.
I recall when Carter swore up and down that he would expose the “gov. coverup” when elected. Funny.. He sure clammed up, and avoided the subject after he was elected.
Those non disclosure agreements one signs can be a real bitch. ( ya,, my name is on one too)

Every time I see a helicopter in the skies above my place or in the valleys around here, there is a big grow bust within a week or so. Every time. I ain’t taking about Medi-flight or CAl-Fire on TV News whirlybirds either. And, as far as I can figure, I bet I have a closer view of the rolling hills around Beale than even those residing in PennTucky.
Spy on Spy was always my favorite part of Mad Magazine. Now we have an Alfred E. Newman lookalike in the White House. A coincidence? I think not!
