[New month, new sandbox. The 30may15 sandbox seems to have turned into a kitty litter box with all the congealed poop balls flying back and forth. Perhaps the participants there will want to retain that venue for continuing those enthusiastic labors and use this new one for more edifying discourse. I for one am interested in what readers think about the Patriot Act's renewal and the trade-offs between our liberties and security. gjr]

George@12:59PM I did an update and posted a link as you suggested. If Mr Boardman would like more information on AGW he can also visit Watts Up With That and do a search on the term. However, I recognize that he gets to choose the science he believes in, right up to the killing frost in June and July snow storms.

George
The poop is already flying. thanks for the noble effort. It must be frustrating.
Once again my hats off to Rand Paul. He is being trashed by the so called Conservative Republican Presidential hoard.LikeLike

Paul Emery, glad to see you are finally supporting a Republican. I expect you will be voting for Rand Paul now?
Joe Smith is missing and the DA from Baltimore is on the job.LikeLike
-
Paul – welcome to the dark side. Where the poor are abondoned to starve and gazillionaires light their cigars from the burning food stamps of hungry children. Pray tell – what has caused this change of heart?
And please don’t worry about we true conservatives. Nothing frustrating about simply quoting available facts. The greens have been a little too open about what their true aim is. The free market and capitalism have to go in order to ‘save’ the earth. Or are you going with Bernie?
Poor Paul – what to do, what to do?LikeLike

Paul, glad you are liking Brother Rand. Now, being from Kentucky, he will probably get the red neck beer drinking ignorant hillbillie extremist Tea Party label by some in the hallowed halls of academia and media. . Some Republicans even have a sense of humor…..might be at least a half dozen out there. That is about 6 more than the Dems have.

Back to the Patriot Act. I am fascinated by the democrats supporting it. I thought they were bashing the R’s as being these patriotic fools, flag carrying yahoos who were making up terrorist ploys so the right could take over our shoes and belts at the airport. But in this DC world of shenanigans, up is down and black is white. I am confused. Help!

Hey Todd, maybe its because you live in an unnatural, simplistic, black and white world. The real world is a really interesting place if you take the time to appreciate it. Its a palate of colors and blends and nuances. Might lead to less confusion even. Seriously Todd, I really hope you will understand this before you pass from this world into dust.

But how is it that there is both bipartisan support for renewing the Patriot Act, and also bipartisan opposition to it? Does that kind of response remove the issue of the state spying on its citizens from the polarized regions and place it somewhere near the equator? Have we finally met a federal decision that can be argued on the basis of shared principles and existential interests?

As I recall, it began as looking only at communications coming and going to outside nations, and of questionable origin. That has since changed to mass collection in every way shape and form. Even the courts have said the NSA has gone too far.
On a side note, Erica Holder ( The AG) won’t do squat about what the gov. has done to the citizens ( IRS VS Tea Party anyone?) or dealing with illegals flooding in,, yet has the time to dig into soccer corruption, and now how movie theaters do business.

Todfd
there’s lots to like about Rand Paul and fundamental things I disagree with him about. The most important thing is that there be a rise of independent candidates to break the power of the Republicratic Party. Rand will probably be squashed by the so called moderates so voting for him is a far flung possibility. If he was nominated and kept his independence I would give him serious consideration, especially if he ran as a Libertarian and dumped the Pubbers.LikeLike

Paul, cannot agree more. If he could seriously discover a domestic sense of morality in topics of the poor, healthcare, etc, I could consider the man. The good news is that now Rand has nothing to lose with the party going forward. Going to be very, very interesting in the Pubber debates with Rand in the mix.

But, Paul – why not give him serious consideration now?
No govt interference with private business. Doesn’t that alone put the thrill up your legs?
Now – there’s still time to consider that socialiast fellow. He’s trying to give Shrillery a run for her money. And he’ll sock it to the Koch bros. Give them the what-for. I thought he was your man.LikeLike

If the election was held today, Bernie would gather votes for President right now than all but about 2 of the big money Pubbers.
Forgetting about Ole’ Denny Hastert for a minute..cough…I have a couple of moral questions to those aligned with the party of morality, the Republicans. Is Koch Brothers money considered a virtue in the election cycle? Is it consistent with Scott’s Christian values that the Kochs can spend a BILLION dollars of self interest money in an attempt to sway an election? Is there accumulation of ungodly wealth consistent with Christian doctrine? If so, please cite the biblical references for me. Thanks.LikeLike

Naa,, you tell me, and I will let you know if your right. Now no google searches, that would be cheating. ( not that ya’ really give a damn)

Before I go hit the hay, jonnie, how do you feel about the George Soros money, the billions he has, spending it on democrats and socialist candidates. Seeing how he made his money on playing money games with nations currencies, is that the same as the Koch brothers money? I mean their money employs 60,000 people and a major part of the economy.
Speaking of “morality” where did you get the idea the R’s are uptight? You are way behind the curve, maybe even a 50’s socialist for thinking those on the right are preaching. Sure maybe a couple do that but your candidates are also preaching the Gospel. Does that lose them your vote?LikeLike

The real fact is Hillary Rodham Clinton is popular and she knows it. Popular enough to garner a sizeable slice of the electorate. She just might follow in Slick Willy’s footsteps and fail to get 50% of the vote, yet sit in the Oval Office. It’s no secret that Biily Bob really really wanted to break into the magic 50% mark for his legacy. A goal which eluded him and now set in stone as a two time winner of the Presidential elections with achieving a majority.
It is also no secret that I do not like Hillary one iota. Here is just one of many reasons why. She sings the populist tune while lining her pockets (both personal and campaign war chests) with the 1%ers’ ungodly gifts and donations. I don’t really care she is in bed with successful wealthy people per se. Afterall, you don’t want to hang out with the mediocre types for input and picking another’s brains. Nothing wrong in and of itself with rubbing elbows with successful people or the giants of industry and proven leaders of various walks of life.
But, for Pete.s sake, just drop the rich bashing and quit pretending you really are just one of the unwashed masses in your heart of hearts, Mrs. Clinton.
