[Well, all the liberal palaber about Common Core being just standards and not specific requirements for curricula is just so much BS as states are now beginning to find out. Climate change propaganda has been inserted as a required topic ranging from grade through middle to high school. Students will have AGW drilled into their heads without debate, much like the Catholics and Calvinists ran their religious schools. Never heard of Lucille’s. What kind of food?
I just discovered brisket in San Jose last week at my grand daughters graduation from San Jose State. I am a fan now.LikeLike
-
Nailed the pork loin. Even the Mrs. likes it. ( She’s of Jewish decent.)
Off to give half to the cherry wood supplier.
It’s Turkey next….LikeLike

I’m sorry to hear that. My daughter and son-in-law took me there a couple of birthdays ago and I enjoyed it very much.LikeLike
-
I agree with fish, Lucille’s seems to lost it’s edge. Our last visit was a big disappointment.
Locally try Smiiey Guy’s in the old Brier Patch building. Good beer, good brisket and fantastic french fries.LikeLike

The thing I like about Facebook for business Michael is that we control the content and the access to post—so I simply answered Mr. Juvinall, by banning him 🙂LikeLike

Walt,
We did a turkey forThanksgiving on the BBQ. Brined the bird over night, then put it on the BBQ rotisserie. It was the most awesome bird we have ever eaten at our house. Will do it again this coming year.LikeLike

Steven,
Proving once again there is no such thing as free speech on lefty blogs, Facebook pages or twitter sites. They are giant echo chambers, void of any contrary ideas or thought.LikeLike

To be fair Russ, it is I believe, a business blog and even though I freely admit to not “getting” the SBC…..it’s still a business blog.
Plenty of places to argue out there.LikeLike
-
joh-Frisch & lefty jeffy manage speech like Dr. Gobbles, the ASA spins like him too. I agree Russ, Smiley guys has great fries and other things, when they get more consistent they will rock. I was happy the NEO center took that old building across the parking lot. That should help the Smiley gang a bit too. OK OK. Who saw the report from California Cooperative Snow Surveys? Every station reports ZERO snow.

And I asked for an accounting of how you square your multiple divorces and domestic disputes with your professed Christian theology Todd, but I don;t expect and answer.
I have absolutely nothing to account to you for nor you me.
Russ, you must not actually understand free speech protections, it is to protect the individual from government intervention not to protect the individual from being censored by their peers. Perhaps when y’all actually understand the Constitution there will be something to talk about. Until then you are just pissing in the wind.LikeLike

Slow cook is the way to go. SCREW the electric oven. Open fire and smoke is the carnivore’s
friend. Yup,, sex for the taste buds.
Russ,, I have 2 rotisseries. One, is built in place, and can take just about anything you can throw at it,,( up to a good sized dog, for those into Chinese cooking)
and one that is portable, the size of a large briefcase. A BATT. operated motor does the job. Great for a chicken or small prime rib. What’s cool about it, is that it heats from the side, and not the bottom. All stainless steal. I can’t even find another one like it.
I have been looking all over the net for years to find another.
It looks like an aircraft engineer made the thing in his spare time. Not even a patent mark.
I may nee to take it to a metal shop to see how much it would cost to replicate.
Yup,, I have a new hobby.
I will need taste testers…. Uh,, any volunteers???
Got a killer seasoning mix? Send it my way.LikeLike

What does my personal life marriage have to do with asking you for an accounting of your taxpayer funded trip to Red China? I think you may have gone over the top and your noggin is clouded.
As a “non-profit” (;pys of chuckles), you are responsible to post our financial info so I suppose I will have to ask the IRS and the Franchise Tax Board and State Corporations to investigate you and your SBC. Looks like a scam to me. You are coming across as the Bernie Madoff of the Sierra Nevada.LikeLike
-
Todd, you big sack of crap, what makes you think my trip to Mongolia and China was taxpayer funded? You have no evidence of that and no way of knowing. My travel is as much my personal life as your multiple marriages are yours.
Every required financial disclosure the organization I work for is required to file has been filed on time and triple checked.
Finally, you go right ahead and demand all you want….if even one tiny piece of your harassment harms me or my organization in any way I will sue your sorry ass so fast it will make you 80 IQ head spin.LikeLike
-
What a hoot there Steve Frisch. You went to Red China and extolled its virtues and told everyone it was not a personal trip. Just tell us who paid for it , the itinerary, and what amount was spent. Pretty simple. Why are you hiding the facts?
I really don’t think asking the IRS and the Franchise tax board to review a taxpayer funded organization like yours would be considered “harassment”. Go ahead and sue me and I will own everything you have. You seem to be hiding things and that is what got Bernie Madoff a hundred years in the clink. You should not be so quick to threaten.
Besides, I have not brought up your failure to pay your employees taxes to the tune of $250,000 and all the local state and federal tax leins against you. All in the public record, just like my marriage.LikeLike

how to be more “eco”. Or was it high tech worm farms?
Did he try the BBQ cat while there?
When our Son’s significant other is here ( Chinese) cat, and food, are never used in the same sentence. I have to take inventory of our cats before they leave.LikeLike

Anyone remember the Seattle group that was demanding the huge minimum wadge increase?
They got their wish, and then demanded exemption from it.. I’m sure some recall.
Well here we go again. Those demanding it demand exemption.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/05/29/unions-seek-exemption-from-la-minimum-wage-law-helped-pass/?intcmp=latestnews
Just like the same game when pushing for Obummercare.
What is it with LIBS? The high cost is for “the other guy” to pay.
If I ever open a BBQ stand, I will have a two tiered price list. One for Conservatives, and one for LIBS. LIBS will pay 30% more. Think a LIB would stay true to his convictions? Or LIE through his tooth to pay less? It sure would be fun to see the Conservative who KNOWS the other guy is a LIB and rat him out.LikeLike

After hanging out here incessantly for days on end, it does appear “Jon” has taken a powder right when our pal Steve came back. I guess that urge to harass the non-left-wingers was satisfied vicariously by watching Frisch flailing.
I’d make a superhero and mild mannered alter ego reference here, but The Tick didn’t have an alter ego for “Jon” to be compared to.LikeLike
-
You are truly clueless, “Gregory.” With the exception of my playful banter with your interesting friend named “Walt” I’ve never set out to attack anyone, just challenge right wing groupthink. This board, with a reputation for supposed intelligent right wing discussion, turns out to be filled with a collection of clowns and freaks that would make the current Republican primary field look like a group of rational thinkers. Truly a Star Wars bar scene, western Nevada County style. Anything that challenges the orthodoxy of the Faux News/Rush world seems to elicit every conceivable manner of bizarre right wing neurotica. A true science lab of freaks.
Best of luck boys. You are doomed to perpetual frustration in life.LikeLike
-
Sorry, “Jon”, but I’m not right wing and while I do turn on Limbaugh on occasion to find out what Republicans think from the mouth of a Republican, I listen to both NPR and BBC Worldservice more hours, and I’ve found what you call “Faux News” generally plays about the same as other mainstream media just without the snark that even NPR and PBS has a hard time evading. Your problem is that they don’t leave out the bits that you don’t want to know about.
Perhaps if you didn’t try that “playful banter” snark and tried to be a supposed intelligent left winger without the sarcasm, it would turn out different.
That message is also for The Tick.LikeLike

Agreed Jon. This blog has turned into a bit of a circle jerk or at best a chest thumping festival. It’s too bad because it has a lot of potential to really have interesting dialogue between differences of opinion I don’t spend much time here anymore. Most of the contributors are too taciturn for meangfull dialogue.
I really enjoy conversations with independent thinking people of all persuasions Mostly this group consists of republican apologists. Even George seems to be staying away from the dialogue once it gets to be too stupid
I’m in Portland for a few days , an intelligently managed very progressive city.LikeLike

Silent contributors…..hmmmm…..?
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Almost as difficult to hold a dialogue with the silent contributors as with the guys who don’t know what the words mean.
And then predictably…..

I hear this from you proggy mouth breathers all the time; “I really enjoy conversations with independent thinking people of all persuasions…..” I’m sure you do…… as long as those conversations don’t pull you out of your comfort zone and you can eventually steer the discussion in a direction towards your pet cause or cherished belief. Sorry you’ve been less than successful here Paul.

Almost forgot……”Neurotica”?
Really……for a guy who loathes typos and clings to his vaunted credentials like a drowning man in the ocean clings to anything that floats you sure do screw up the language on a regular basis. The word I believe you are looking for is “neuroses”, plural of neurosis.
neu·ro·sis
n(y)o͝oˈrōsəs/
noun MEDICINE
plural noun: neuroses
a relatively mild mental illness that is not caused by organic disease, involving symptoms of stress (depression, anxiety, obsessive behavior, hypochondria) but not a radical loss of touch with reality. Compare with psychosis.
synonyms: mental illness, mental disorder, psychological disorder; More
(in nontechnical use) excessive and irrational anxiety or obsession.
“apprehension over mounting debt has created a collective neurosis in the business world”
Neurotic means something quite different…..but then you already knew that didn’t you.

Fish,, It may have been done before,, but LIBS like to drive up prices, so why not have them pay more honestly? And just to torque off the Leftys a little more, I would claim to use, used car tires in the smoker. ( anyone with a lick of sense would know better)

Paul, the last ‘interesting dialog’ you were beating the brush for was what folks here thought of the TPP that Obama was keeping secret while it was being negotiated… It’s hard to discuss something before it’s made public, and you seemed unwilling to wait until it was public to discuss it.
That seemed pretty uninteresting. There wasn’t any final bill, and for once, the least transparent administration in history actually did have a halfway good reason for opacity… the President gets to negotiate with foreign governments, not the Congress. The Congress just has an up or down vote on the result.
Have a brew at the Cornelius Pass Roadhouse for me.LikeLike

Paul.. In reference to your earlier comment,, one could say that you could be the “pivot man”. You have done your fair share of “jerking” people around. Never answer questions, unless with another question,, if that fails, change the subject. ( then there is the flat out denial a question was ever asked.)
Maybe THIS is who “jon” is.

Paul and Steve,
You couldn’t invent a board full of characters like this if you tried.
Walt, truth be told- I’m actually the pilot of that plane you are following out of Beale, circling around Penn Valley and Yuba City, day after day after day. I’ve been monitoring movements of Penn Valley residents, particularly all the trips down to Walmart and back.LikeLike

Yup,, it figures that “you” could be that pilot. All you can do is bank “Left” for hours and go nowhere fast.
I’m surprised LIBS haven’t demanded NASCAR to race clockwise, because most rednecks are Conservative.LikeLike
-
Walt, I’m actually an amalgamation of both Steve and Jeff. But more importantly yes Walt, it was me in the plane. To be totally frank, I am associated with the Federal project that you’ve probably read about- Jade Helm- own in Texas. My specific agency is assigned to monitor the habits and details of people who shop at Walmart and report back to the main agency in preparation for the larger actions to come. I’m with the Central/NorCal branch. We operate civilian planes out of Air Force facilities so as not to attract too much attention. Yeah you caught me on your monitoring website.

Yeah it’s all fun and games for progressives slumming with the libertarian candidate until you get to domestic policies. Then it’s “Nazi” this, and “Balancing the budget on the backs of the poor” that! And let’s be honest…you’d never bring a Rand Paul home to meet your mother….”He’s simply not our kind dear”!
As an aside Paul….you’re off to Portland….any plans to visit the other “intelligently managed very progressive cities”……Camden NJ, Baltimore, Philly, I understand that Chicago is going to be very festive later this year when the financial shit hits the fan.
You should consider it….for balance!LikeLike

While you are there please check out the tax and fee burdens of those Portlandia citizens. I am told California is a bargain compared to it.
I see the Truckee Troll Steve Frisch was depositing here again. Jeeze, how can a man so self important and self intelligent stoop to coming here and mixing it up with lesser being? I mean, hey tax dodging and all, the man is just way smarter than anyone here, or so he says!
Paul Emery leaves a few droppings here too and as Walt says, nothing good can come of trying to debate the LA Dodger!.LikeLike

Back to a Ca. problem… WATER… Seems the EPA and friends are hell bent on more ethanol
mix in our gas tanks. Nevermind that corn is a BIG water user. Then I run across this.

Even the sane (yes,, there are a few) ECO folk call for and end to ethanal.
It takes more energy and resources than what it puts out in return.
A since when is burning food as fuel a great idea?
Keep ethanal for it’s intended use. Drinking.LikeLike
