[Well, all the liberal palaber about Common Core being just standards and not specific requirements for curricula is just so much BS as states are now beginning to find out. Climate change propaganda has been inserted as a required topic ranging from grade through middle to high school. Students will have AGW drilled into their heads without debate, much like the Catholics and Calvinists ran their religious schools. Climate change was (and is) going to be a part of school curriculum regardless of common core, so that’s not an issue to me. I do agree that Common Core is NOT to be taken as a benign framework. Good that people are asking questions of Common Core, but climate change curriculum is not among my concerns.
But seriously, how are people not talking about the milestone entrances of George Pataki and John Kasich into the Presidential race?…. Pataki perhaps the biggest of the War Hawks so far, proposing ground troops back into the Middle East to directly battle ISIS! Time for a draft? Step right up boys and girls.LikeLike

Todd, if you only associate with an aging white population in rural America, watch Fox and listen to Rush, you could certainly be forgiven for thinking liberals/progressives in the US are in the big trouble you imagine.LikeLike

I wrote about Common Core Junk Science in our Schools HERE and HERE last June and July.
Nevada County schools are preparing our children for a world that only exist in the minds of Liberal/ Progressives. When they graduate they are not able to deal with the real world, unable to get a jobs and they have to live with mom and dad. How sad that California schools are failing our children, thus placing an additional burden on mom and dad. You would think that the moms and dads in Nevada County would be paying more attention to the crap that is being taught to their children. They deserve what they get for being passive consumers an undereducated, job less young adult living in their basement.LikeLike

Jonnie, I listen and watch all kinds of political news. You seem to be a DailyKos guy so I understand why you have such a myopic lefty life’s opinion set. The libs are on the run and the itty bitty Gallup poll is nothing new. They were polling Obama as over 50% approval while all the others were way below. You can drink the liberal koolAid, I understand you like its taste. I’ll pass.

How about this trend? A Marine was court marshalled and given a bad conduct discharge for refusing to remove a strip of paper from her computer that said ‘NO weapon formed against me shall prosper’. The basis was that it ‘could easily be seen as contrary to good order and discipline’ because it was based on a line from the Bible. WTF!?!? Chesty Puller is digging out of his tomb as we speak and he is going to stick his 5 silver stars up the convening officers butt!

Jonnie, the trend is against your candidates. You and the left want high joblessness so you can control people and their votes. Look what you have done wrecking education and dumbing down your constituency. But the R’s have some people that cut through you grievance and co-dependent voters. You voters want jobs and you can’t figure out how to make any. No Jonnie, this will be a wipeout of the democrats and their policies. I can’t hardly wait.

You’ve misidentified the WaPo article issue… it’s about social liberal vs social conservative by their polling on discrete policy elements, not lib vs cons identification. Social Liberal includes Libertarian who ain’t liberal by current newspaper standards as “liberal” is the polite word for those of the democratic socialist persuasion. If you actually read through to the end, actual number of self identified conservatives has been pretty constant.LikeLike

Gregory, clearly the identification is skewed toward social liberal these days. Since the Republican Party platforms are heavily skewed AGAINST this very definite trend of younger voters, how is that a winning formula for the general election? The Repub Party has been, and remains, terrified to even step out on the limb of social issue moderation for fear of losing the support of the supposed moral majority on the far right (ie Huckabee and Santorum folks). If they stick to this formula again, and believe me, they will with Huckabee and Santorum fighting till the end in the nominating process, they will lose the Presidential General once again.

This one is for Steven Frisch:
Bishop Hill points us to this video of the Tesla Supercharging station at the Harris Ranch exit of Interstate 5 in California. He writes: “How can one resist posting a video of Tesla electric cars being recharged (so it is claimed) using a diesel generator? These people love the environment you see.”
The video shows a portable diesel generator next to the charging station and some Tesla automobiles. Video is HERE.LikeLike

I think Jon is a bit off his noggin. Bernie Sanders, Jonnies pick for Prez is a kinky Bill Clinton apparently. Worse, he is a fantasizer and Jonnie gives Bernies the ol’ lib excuses for deviant behavior by his peers. No, America needs another Reagan or Bush social kind of President. Not another one where the drapes have to be dry cleaned weekly in the Oval Office as Bill had done.
I agree with Gregory that “Jon” is probably Frisch. He mentioned my support of Romney in 2012 regarding polls so he has to be him.LikeLike

Todd,
Sorry, posted while you were writing your Hastert thoughts. Never realized the gay community knew all about the apparently closeted Mr. Hastert during those years.
Re: Romney, why exactly did conservatives stay home in 2012 when all we heard for the prior 3 years was of their passionate hatred of the President, the ACA, the bailouts, the corruption, the flaunting of the Constitution, etc, etc, etc., not to mention the supposed massive influence of the Tea Party and the anger of the grass roots? So they didn’t think Ole Mitt was going to be an improvement? And where were the primary voters who voted for Mitt Romney in the various primaries? Are they going to turn out in droves for dynamic figures like Jeb Bush or Scott Walker this time? Seriously, the loss had nothing to do with lack of conservative turnout, and everything to do with the changed American demographic. Repubs are on track to make the same exact mistakes once again with their toxic Party Platforms.LikeLike
-
Well Jonnie they stayed home because they did not believe Romney was a true conservative. Very simple. Sort of the same for blacks. When Obama ran they turned out in greater percentages than they did for a white candidate. Check it out.
Regarding Hastert, do you have proof the homosexuals knew about him way back?LikeLike
-
Todd, no joke- blacks turned out more for Obama than white candidate! Wow, who knew? I guess I’m still puzzled about Mitt. I thought the primaries are where the true conservatives shine with the fired up base? How do you think Mitt won more votes than other true conservatives in those very primaries? Three possibilities it seems. Either the theory of having to lurch to the right to please the base is a false premise, there simply aren’t that many base conservatives turning out in the Repub primaries to vote for the true conservative, or Karl Rove or Wall Street/Koch PACS money coming in for Mitt ruined any chance of the true conservative winning the primaries. Which is it do you think? Were the Repubs victims of their own inclinations toward throwing big money at favored candidates?
On Hastert, I don’t think anyone has proof of anything, but a decent google search will pick up a treasure trove of old inside DC posts and articles about the old family values wrestling coach, harking back to his Speaker days. My my my. Wonder why he would need to pay someone over a million+ dollars in cash? Wonder how he had $1.7 million dollars in cash lying around in bank accounts? Not like the guy was a Wall Street banker or something.LikeLike
-
According to the govt. filing today, Hastert agreed to pay 3.5 million dollars to a long time acquaintance from his hometown where he was a teacher and wrestling coach.

You’re better at politics than that, Steve.
It’s because the Romney campaign spent millions trashing his fellow Republicans during the primary season, methodically tearing down every other credible candidate that had a chance of winning delegates, leaving a fractured party in his wake. It’s been a long time since the GOP had a leader who promoted the 11th Commandment: Thou Shalt Not Speak Ill of another Republican.
It probably helps to know God is on your side when designing the next barrage against someone whose help you’ll need to actually win the election in November.LikeLike

Why did I know that jon would bring up Hastert? When was the last time anyone here brought up his name and extolled his virtues? C’mon jon. What’s your point? Do you bring up all of the lefty hypocrites? Hastert was being blackmailed (apparently) and got caught. Isn’t blackmail illegal? The IRS and the FBI know who this person is. Hastert is on his own. Funny how a 50 year old BillC can molest a 23 year old intern for months on end, as well as all the other gals he did, and he is the guiding light for the democrat party. My GOD what a dirtbag party!LikeLike

Scott, could it be because many of us are sick of hearing about Republican family values, over and over and over again? Every election season that party preaches the fact they are superior in matters of virtue and honesty. Its great when the phonies come to light.
